The Slums – Episode Three Three women. Same shit. Different day.
They say what goes around comes around, and in the Slums, ain’t nobody safe from karma.
The night that changed everything ain’t over yet, and when the smoke finally clears, three lives are left in pieces.
One woman’s demons are catching up to her, forcing her to face the guilt that’s been eating her alive. Another’s sitting on a secret that could tear the hood apart, but she’s standing on all ten 'bout her business, even if it means stepping on toes. And the last? She’s back in the one place she swore she’d never return, fighting for her life while teetering on the edge of losing it all... if it’s not already too late.
In the Slums, the line between friend and foe is blurred, and the race between truth and betrayal is running neck and neck.
In a world where counterfeit currency outweighs loyalty, these women prove it’s not about where you live—but how you live… or so they thought.
The Episode 3 is a ghetto soap opera where surviving is only half the battle. Because in the Slums, peace ain’t promised... but pain? That’s guaranteed.
Kutura B definitely started with all gas no breaks in episode 3! I mean we know how episode 2 ended so thus was definitely a “skip the pleasantries” moment.
This story definitely touched on some real life topics that are happening daily! From police brutality, to fraudulent parents, past childhood traumas and generational curses.
My favorite character in the story.. Trinity hands down lol. Mini Tasha is going to be a forced to be reckoned with when she gets older! Mikki is probably who I’m most disappointed at, like GIRL get it together lol. I still highly dislike Dreka just as much as I did in episode 1 🤷🏽♀️.
And let’s not even get on these men folk… Jah continues to leave me speechless with his idiotic behavior and Coogi is still THE MAN! There were a couple of people I was mad that they were still breathing lol, but you’ll have to read and see if they survived 👀…
To sum it up…. The Slums are definitely still slumming, the ghetto is ghettoing & this gritty story just keeps getting better! Episode 4, is that you??
This was such a wild ride. I am on edge. This feels like reading the most ratchet ass tv show ever. Dreka is so dense it’s not funny. Like every decision she makes is wrong. Mikki needs rehab if she survives this ish. Tasha has to let here sister go. Those drugs got her. At this point helping her is repeatedly proven that she’s allowing her loyalty to her sibling harm her and her kids.
The Slums Series by @author_kuturab_msb is UNHINGED IN THE BEST WAY!!!! Welp! Episode 3 did not disappoint but mannnneeee I have so many questions!!!!! Is Baby Deuce ok? Is Mikki ever gonna get her 🐱 looked after??? Is Dreka & Riggs gonna make it? And Tasha…Miss bad and bougie smh…grandma? These characters take me through it ok!!!! 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #urbanfiction #TheSlums #BooksBooksBooks

If you’re not ready for a full-on soap opera—as Kutura proudly calls it—don’t even start this series. Once you’re in, you’re in. It pulls you straight into the Slums and keeps you there, constantly wondering what’s going to happen next.
Personally, I love being deep in the chaos and drama of the Slums 😎
Hopefully episode 4 is the finale. It’s too much going on and nothing getting resolved. It’s like a Tyler Perry show. One book is two days. And Tasha still ain’t got no job. Jah is still 17
Like always, the SLUM don’t love anyone. The monkey some people have on their back is the reason they don’t leave slums. It’s their safe haven. The slums know everyone business. Some make it out and some don’t. Those that don’t usually just adapt to their environment. No secret is safe. Let’s chat!
The monkey is something else and Mikki is experiencing that first hand. She down bad😔. She can’t win for losing. Ya girl living foul and stanking🤭. Like how many hands she going to take🤭. Every time you turn around someone was putting hands on her! This jealousy thing she now has with Tasha has me confused🤔! Seems as it was ok for her to live that good life but Tasha can’t. Then she turn around and cross the only person who still had her back and honestly wanted help🥹! She had no shame at all. Mikki has hit rock bottom and don’t want admit it.
Tasha deals with a lot of past trauma when come to relationships and she slightly worked my nerves when it came to her & Coogi😒. Like girl this man making moves while locked up. The man sending people to you when needed. Like honey is you cool 🤭! What I will say is she didn’t play about her kids especially Jah. The situation with Jah and Dreka has left my girl speechless. Tasha had every right to feel the way she feels about Dreka. If she wasn’t pregnant, it be all bad for her. Tasha wants to put hands on her so bad🤭. Oh and Trinity, she’s going to give her a run for her money. Babygirl play no games 🤭! Then the situation with Mikki, my girl is hurt but she tried. However, when Mikki crossed her, it was all bad🫣. Love didn’t live there anymore. That love between her and Coogi. Love a good second chance love and to see it level up. The question I have, is will it stay that way? Cause that ending🤔!
Dreka has now became the SLUM mascot 🤭. Yep I said what I said. She worked every nerve I have. Like girl do you even know who your baby daddy is? Like first it was Rico and now is Jah🤔. Not only that you put that man on paper. Again, are you cool babygirl? Ya girl Dreka was a Karma magnet🤭. She couldn’t win for losing. She had no one in her corner except Daf. Now I have to admit I loved me some Daf🤏🏾🤏🏾. She (him) played no games when it came to Dreka and the baby Deuce! You would think she learned her lesson when she had to sit down, but she didn’t at all. You would think she would change her was once she had a baby, but again she didn’t😔. She a magnet to the shenanigans in the slums. Then it’s like girl when are you going to learn your lesson when it comes to Butta. This fool is no good and how you get them hands twice in one day 🤣! She going to allow Butta to cause her to possible losing a good one - Riggs. However, there’s some not right with him🤔! Only time will tell.
Listen there’s so much to tap in about the read - Coogi, Jah, Detective Bradley and Riggs. However, I know my girl not done quite yet🫣. The way she tapped into the how the slums/projects really can be🤏🏾! This reminds me of the slums back in the Bay from the drugs, fiends, 5 woman to one man and the DL men. The read had me feeling as if I was sitting on the stoop being nosey🤭🤣! Can’t wait for the next episode!
I just finished Episode 3 of Slums by Kutura B, and listen this story is a hot ghetto mess that keeps getting messier by the chapter. Betrayal is at an all-time high, trust is nonexistent, and a happy ending? Is not looking promising for anybody.

We’re following three female leads, and every one of them is fighting for survival in the slums:
Tasha thought she made it out of the hood but loyalty keeps pulling her back in especially when it comes to trying to save her younger sister.
Mikki is down BAD! She’s deep in addiction and losing more of herself every single day. Getting beat up non-stop, walking around throwing that hotpocket to anyone for a hit, spiraling fast, yet still delusional enough to believe she can quit whenever she wants. The slums are eating her alive.
And then there’s Dreka, Tasha’s ex–best friend turned enemy. In this world, there are no friends, only frenemies. Dreka is scheming nonstop, throwing people under the bus to get ahead… only to find herself in deeper, darker danger. Messy doesn’t even begin to cover it.
In the Slums, everyone is using everyone, loyalty is temporary, and survival comes at a price. This episode had me cackling, stressed, side-eyeing everybody, and ready to dive straight into the next one. If you like gritty urban fiction, morally gray characters, nonstop chaos, and stories where nobody is safe, this series is for you.
The Slums: Episode Three doesn’t whisper its truths—it screams them from cracked sidewalks and dimly lit bandos . This is book reads like those crime dramas you see on HBO in its purest form: messy, dramatic, raw, and painfully honest. Every chapter feels like an episode where survival is the goal, loyalty is tested, and love is never simple. In these streets, nobody gets out unscathed. Dreams are fragile, trust is expensive, and every win comes with a loss attached. The characters aren’t chasing fairy tales—they’re fighting to breathe, to eat, to stay standing one more day. And just when you think someone’s caught a break, the past comes knocking with receipts. This story thrives on emotional chaos—betrayals that cut deep, secrets that rot from the inside, and relationships built on trauma instead of stability. The drama is thick, the pain is generational, and the consequences are unavoidable. Nobody is fully innocent, but everyone is human.
What makes this installment hit hardest is its realism. There’s no glamorizing the struggle here—only the truth that surviving the slums hardens you, changes you, and sometimes breaks you. Love doesn’t heal everything. Hustling doesn’t guarantee escape. And peace? That’s a luxury few can afford.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Slums 3 had me so locked in I swear I live in the Slums too. I am fully invested in Tasha, Mikki, and Dreka like they’re people I know in real life. Kutura B doesn’t just tell a story, she drops you right in it. Every chapter feels like you’re sitting in the courtyard of the projects, watching everything unfold in real time.
This series is a straight-up ghetto As The World Turns, and I mean that in the best way possible. The drama, the secrets, the guilt, the loyalty test. It’s messy, intense, and painfully real. Karma is working overtime, and nobody feels safe, which keeps you turning the page. Just when you think someone might catch a break, here comes another twist.
Kutura B knows how to write a hood soap opera that keeps you emotionally attached and slightly stressed, and I love it. I’m already impatiently waiting for the next episode because I need to know what happens next. If you’re not reading The Slums, you’re missing out.
you know we’ve made it to part three and somehow I’m still managed to be gagged every single time. these are some of these stupidest women, matter fact I’m gonna say girls I’ve ever read about. They are so messy for no reason at all Mikki probably pisses me off the most, but I tried to give her some leeway because of what she’s going through. But the fact we had to hear about her stanking fishy Bo for two books and the fool still ain’t got it checked out is killing me Lmfao. Dreka is just stupid and trifling and there’s no if and or buts about it and I’m also gonna say that she’s a pedophile because ma’am what type of time you on fr. Won’t like the funeral scene had me in tears laughing Dreka and Daf ignorant as hell lol. Tasha. Idk she probably irritates me the least but the constant fighting no matter the place the situation and all that gets old. Y’all gotta grow up. Cliffhanger got me all messed up tho. I need book 4.
Once again this book done stress me out 😩… if it’s not one thing it’s another was a book… IT’S THIS ONE! Got answers from part 2 just to be left with more dag on questions 🫠. Tasha goes 2 steps forward and knocked back 6… my girl just wanna give her family a better life and I ain’t mad at her. She never forgets where she came from but she ain’t tryna go back. Mikki and Dreka STILL miserable and messy.. they both worried about the wrong thingssss. Dreka need to worry bout that baby and Mikki need to get that monkey off her dag on back, Mikki down bad chileeeeee.. life beating her asssss literally🙃😭 you really can’t help people who don’t wanna help themselves. This series got me in a chokehold.. Miss maam let me know if you need helping writing part 4 🤔😭
Deka..Mikki..Tasha.. this book was so wild and crazy from Mika oh my God if I stopped feeling bad for her but then I don't feel bad for her but then I do feel bad for her because of the drugs. That cliffhanger that you left on meeker part why do I feel like one of those. I ain't going to say what else. Deka.. Rico jah and butta and riggs... That's how I almost sound . I really feel like she should not start back talking to butter cuz he is so full of Mess. Tasha I'm so happy for her and coogie. Is she being a down chick but that cliffhanger I cannot wait to see what did she see in that room. I don't want to get a store away but I'm definitely looking forward to part 4...
I know you lying!!! Whew this was such a cliffhanger!!!!! I need mooorreeee ! I'm happy for Tasha bc she is finally getting her happily after but at what cost? Dreka I felt sorry for her in the end because she is really trying to get her life together to be the best mom to Deuce. Riggs ummm I want more about him Butta should have been the last person she wanted to be around I would have slammed my door on him so fast! Mikki is smh I just don't know about her however I don't feel sorry for her not after she stole from her own sister who was only trying to help and besides she should be tried of getting beat up by everyone she squares up with.

Episode three was no joke. Katura came out the gate swinging and showed us that the Slums didn’t love anyone. The book was well written, flowed well, definitely kept my attention and well worth reading. Mikki has hit rock bottom and I’m not sure if she’s going to make it after this. Tasha is being hit with one thing after the other, but she and Coogi is sticking by each other through thick and thin. Dreka is seeking child support from Jan, but we will just have to wait and see how things turn out. Mikki and Tasha’s parents are absolute trash. I can’t wait for Episode Four.
Ok this was a lot to unpack and a hell of a rollercoaster ride ! But per usual I was locked and ready for whatever was to come next. The beatings that was handed out in this episode was legendary ! I hate that no matter how hard Tasha tried to stay out the way folks just kept coming for her. Then everybody don’t need kids cause why you stay causing a scene while you got your little baby with you . Man I need a cigarette break and I don’t smoke. Kutura we got to figure out how to bring the project babies to the screen
It just gets better 😮💨 I was hoping that mikki would get herself together but she’s just a lost cause atp smh, idk really love for her to get herself together & get her family back. I don’t need ANYMORE bad coming to Tasha & Cooji, let my family live in peace please! lol they deserve a break!! Dreka, crazy enough I actually hope that she finds some good with “white chocolate”, she actually became a character I enjoyed in part 3 even though shes still trash for sleeping with Jah & being a terrible friend.

Whew, where do I start my oh my. Mikki still hasn't changed and Tasha acting brand new like she doesn't know the usual programming. Dreka is doing the devils work and doesn't care one bit of who it's for I feel the only people who may not like this series don't know much about the ghetto, the trenches. I rather read about it then live it thank yaaaa! in the next episode I'm hoping someone gets way for a new start or a lot of thing come full darn circle because Tasha, Dreka and Mikki bless it. 4.5
What on earth did I just read. I had to keep going to see where the three FMC ended up, and I landed on a cliffhanger at the end of it. Tasha was the only one who was morally with it I swear. Mikki, I had anxiety. How has she not overdosed or died from the STD she still had not gotten treated yet. The fact that she smelled like death just passing her! Just out there infected the whole Slums! Dreka is MESSY too. I almost wanted to stop reading because the only one I could stand was Tasha. Gosh the drama in the hood.

The talent that God gives some people is truly astounding. Ma’am how? How do you make each book better and better? Usually by now with most series they start to get uninteresting or things start to repeat. Not this! It’s fresh every time! The only thing you know to expect is to be upset when you get to the last page. Girl just keep writing and we will keep reading. We love it in The Slums!
These slums got my anxiety on 10, because Mikki is nasty because girl you ain’t even burning no more. your body is resisting whatever it’s going on. And the drugs baby. Let it go clean yourself up and get your kids back.. Tasha. You said it’s gonna be 10 times down. Please don’t judge Coogi when you know what you’ve signed up for. Dreka pick a side.. and find out who you’re real baby daddy is
Omg... I did not think these ladies could go through any more hardship, devastation and grief after the first two episodes. I was completely wrong! Even more drama & danger followed them through episode 3. Still holding out hope that Mik will get it together & Tasha will be able to forgive her. (Doubtful). Love Dreka & Daf's friendship even though I can't stand Dreka. Well another episode read with my mind blown. Ready for Author KuTura to give us the next book.
Now that’s how you do a cliffhanger. Dreka and her BS. Got the baby ina messed up situation. POW! Then that darn Mikki. She ain’t got her get back yet. How many L’s you gonna take. POW! And Tasha Tasha, you’s married now. Let the episodes continue. Kutura B you kut for real on this one. Bring on episode 4.
I'm down for the next episode ... Just let me say this and I'm done ... When Daf and Dreka walked up into that funeral and got to actin' a fool ... You painted one dope scene because I saw everything unfold and I was in tears the way I was laughing ... Now, I'm even more intrigued about how episode 4 is gonna pan out ... Awesome read Ms. KuTura B
Girl!!! My review is that lmao why did you do us like that? This wasn't supposed to be a cliffhanger 😫😫😫 I don't know if I need to be excited or if should cry like I need more and I need it now.
Mannn this series is like watching a trains wreck! You don’t want to watch it. But you can’t turn away! I want to feel bad for Miki but I can’t. I still can’t stand Dreka. I was hoping having Deuce she would get her ish together! Now I’m just waiting on karma.
Kutura B did it again! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I don't like to give spoilers but baybee, all I'm going to say is Mikki...Mikki...Mikki. I can't wait for episode 4!!!
This book has some twist and turns but predictable parts as well.
Mikki ,I am sick of her and that nasty vagina girl you need your butt beat . Dreka, you're to damn old you need a beat down you just had a kid but playing kiddy with Rico And Jah.
The Slums episode 3 had me lol. The ending was speechless and I knew Coogi had him. If you haven't read this book you need to tho. KuTura is doing her thing and I'm all for it!!!! Go get the book NOW!!!!
