Katherine has been crafting stories since she learned to write. She has a passion for story-telling, all things romance, and loves a gritty character.
When she isn’t thinking up the next binge-worthy love story, she is probably taking pictures of her pitbull or rewatching The Office for the 400th time.
This review comes from a reader who loves: 🛑 No cheating / no OW-OM drama 💞 Low angst (together > apart) 🚫💔 No third-act breakup — I’m tired and I want them happy 👑 Strong FMC 💪 Take-charge MMC 🔥 Reformed playboy > current manwhore, but never manwhore is preferred 💬 Miscommunication allowed if resolved like adults 🏡 HEA ALWAYS
I read for joy, vibes, and emotional safety. If you’re here for chaos and pain… we might not be reading the same book 😌📚 I also tend not to rework the summary into reviews because chances are you’ve already read it to get to the book review part of the show.
This book is very Notebook meets Hallmark slightly after dark. It has spice, but its not super descriptive or involved. Rhett and his bloodhound Mabel steal the show for me. He's right much everything. We get the impression he's not taken relationships seriously in the past, definitely had hookups but hasn't for a while. Audrey finds out her fiance is cheating on her when he accidently calls her doing the deed with someone else. She gets drunk, goes onto the roof top and runs into Rhett who is up there smoking after he's just completed a job. He's not rich, she is, and so the story goes.
I loved him more than her. I get that she is going thru all the things, but I really hated how she kept very important info from him, but I also get it. It's easy for me to sit on this side of the story, knowing how he feels, when she doesn't, but it annoyed me all the same LOL
Their romance is cute and sweet and I am here for a man who goes after what he wants. Rhett is that dude. His family is amazing. I loved them so hard. I need a Mabel immediately.
Read this. It's so good. Side note, there is a follow up, Lucky Penny, about her BFF and I had started it, but I didn't really get into it.
This story gave me all the feels—in the best way possible. It has that sweeping, emotional pull of The Notebook mixed with the charm and small-town warmth of Sweet Home Alabama, and somehow still feels entirely its own.
From the very first page, I was hooked. The romance is tender, layered, and deeply emotional without ever feeling heavy. It’s the kind of story that reminds you why you love love stories in the first place—full of heart, second chances, and moments that just stick with you.
And as a North Carolina girl, this one just hit DIFFERENT. The setting felt so real and cozy, like I could pack up and go find these places tomorrow.
I adored this story, these characters, and yes—Mabel forever 🐾💛 Highly recommend if you want a feel-good read that still sneaks up and hits you right in the heart.
