This is where 100 Years Quest fails to find its breath. The plot, though it’s supposed to reach some kind of climax, wears down. The author started so many battles, with so many characters and so many ideas, that every chapter switches to another fight that doesn't progress, or just ends really quickly with one of our main characters pulling a random winning move out of nowhere. I love this manga and its characters so much, but honestly it’s hard to care when I can already tell how every battle is going to end, especially if I know it won’t make the plot progress a bit.
Some interesting ideas are introduced, for example with the character of Bestia, but somehow the reveals are always a letdown. Don’t hype a very mysterious character with a great power for chapters (that last for MONTHS) if at the end they’re just going to be another mid side character.
No matter what, I still have so much love and nostalgia for this story, and some scenes are enough to make me melt. Fortune and Laxus finding each other was one of the highlights for me. I genuinely hope the last few volumes won't be the ones that will make me lose my love for Fairy Tail.
