Julie Caplin is addicted to travel and good food. She’s on a constant hunt for the perfect gin and is obsessively picky about glasses, tonic and garnishes. Between regular gin tastings, she’s been writing her debut novel which is set in just one of the many cities she’s explored over the years.

Formerly a PR director, for many years she swanned around Europe taking top food and drink writers on press trips (junkets) sampling the gastronomic delights of various cities in Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Copenhagen and Switzerland. It was a tough job but someone had to do it. These trips have provided the inspiration and settings for the trilogy, The Little Cafe in Copenhagen, The Little Brooklyn Bakery and the The Little Paris Patisserie.

Definitely a book for anyone who has ever owned a dog, or wanted to have their own dog, and possibly for those curious about the benefits of having a dog.

For Tess, really is A Girl's Best Friend, Elle may have been looking after her reluctantly at first, but then she wasn't really sure about the village in which she is house sitting in either. However over the course of the story, Elle's thoughts about what she wants for life do start to change.

This is a lovely story about new beginnings, discovering yourself and dogs. If I am sounding slightly dog obsessed then well they are at the centre of the story and the best characters too!

I really enjoyed this book and found I was losing myself within its pages, to the extent I didn't even notice a cat siting on my windowsill, until I looked up (I don't own a cat so was rather shocked!).

With laughs to be had, almost always with Tess at the heart of the funny bits, a dishy vet to get to know and assorted villages,t this really is a fun and entertaining story to read.

This is my first book by this author and will not be my last as so excellent so well written with excellent characters and the story plot is very good. Has you hooked from the first page and set in beautiful countryside and full of romance and has you upset or laughing in places. Well worth reading.
Ella is needing a break to decide if she is to stay with her husband and she escapes to her godmothers house in the country and when she arrives her mother tells her she's also to look after a dog tess and she really isn't happy as she doesn't do dogs at all she's really looking forward to a quiet time to decide her future but the inhabitants of the village have very different ideas and soon get her full involved in village life. She soon has her wellies on and walking the bad behaved dog to which she meets the local grumpy vet who is also in the village helping his dad out and also deciding if he should move back to his wife or stay in the village. Both Devon the vet and Ella start getting close friends and off load their problems to each other and supporting each other. With they both go back to their partners or will they both decide to stay in the village.
Well worth a read.

Ich muss hier leider sagen, dass es nur ein „ok“-Buch für mich war. Beide Hauptcharaktere fand ich die ersten 30% des Buches mehr als unsympathisch. Bei ihrer Geschichte mehr als verständlich, aber wie Ella mit ihrem neuen Pflegehund umgegangen ist, war mehr als unmöglich. Ab der Hälfte ging es jedoch Berg auf, nachdem wir herausgefunden haben, warum beide so sind, wie sie sind.
Dadurch gibt es von mir trotzdem nur 3,5/5⭐️

Mir hat das Buch sehr gut gefallen, es hat einen großen Wohlfühlfaktor! Besonders das Setting in der frühlingshaften Atmosphäre Südenglands hat mir zugesagt.

Die Hauptcharaktere wirken sympathisch und gut ausgearbeitet. Zu Beginn erscheint die Protagonistin etwas sehr tollpatschig dargestellt, was auf mich erst ein wenig überzeichnet wirkte, das legt sich jedoch schnell, und danach fand ich sie authentisch und nahbar. Besonders gefallen haben mir auch die vielen vierbeinigen Charaktere, die der Geschichte zusätzlichen Charme verleihen.

Die Liebesgeschichte ist spannend, ohne übertrieben dramatisch zu sein. Gerade wenn man etwas sucht, das man entspannt lesen und einfach genießen kann, ist dieses Buch eine klare Empfehlung. Der Schreibstil ist angenehm und die Kapitel haben eine sehr gute Länge.

Positiv überrascht hat mich außerdem, dass im weiteren Verlauf ein unerwartet tiefgründiges Thema aufgegriffen wird. Das verleiht der Geschichte noch einmal mehr Substanz und hebt sie für mich von einer reinen Wohlfühllektüre ab.

Ein kleiner Kritikpunkt bleibt für mich, dass einzelne Nebenfiguren etwas zugespitzter dargestellt sind als die übrigen Charaktere. Im Vergleich zu den ansonsten sehr differenziert ausgearbeiteten Figuren wirkte das stellenweise etwas weniger nuanciert.

zuckersüß
genau so soll ein cozy romance buch sein.
die atmosphäre in dem kleinen englischen dorf ist wie mein persönlicher traum, den ella lebt- cottageleben, die urigen nachbarn, die vielen toll charakterisierten dorfbewohner, die natur.
ich habe ella als zweifelnde künstlerin geliebt, die im laufe des buches ihr eigenes selbstvertrauen wiedergefunden hat, ich habe devon, den tierarzt, geliebt, der zwar griesgrämig aber doch schnell liebenswert ist.
das pacing der gefühle war toll, und es war endlich mal einfach eine organische geschichte, ohne dass irgendwelche konflikte erzwungen wurden.
die nebencharaktere (vor allem bets!!) sind so wunderbar, und ich wäre tbh gerne einfach teil dieses dorfs, was mich mit den vielen events so sehr an ein britisches gilmore girls setting erinnert.
und last but not least- tess🥹 dieser große fokus auf dem thema tierliebe und wie viel tess ella am ende bedeutet hat, hat mich zu tränen gerührt, und fand ich ganz ganz toll!!

all in all einfach so ein wohlfühl-buch.
passiert super viel spannendes? nein, aber irgendwie braucht es das auch nicht.

julie caplin wird auf jeden fall noch mehr platz auf meiner tbr liste finden!!

Milé vyprávění, tak jak to Caplin umí. Laskavá atmosféra, příjemný pobyt na venkově (kde nechybí všeteční obyvatelé;) v kontrastu k chladnému životu ve městě. Do toho trocha dramatu, kdy stačilo málo, a mlátila jsem knihou o gauč (Patrick!). Zpočátku mě trochu nebavily popisné a poetické pasáže, ale chápu, že dokreslují atmosféru. No, Magdin dům s kouzelnou zahradou bych brala okamžitě.

Co bych vytkla, je, že se autorka trochu bojí jít víc do hloubky u dramatických scén (ač je to zvláštní tvrzení, když mě to rozčiluje, že?:D). Zkrátka, mohla by do toho ještě víc vrtat. Působí na mě lehce odbytě, když se vlastně plně nedozvím, jak se dořešily spory mezi lidmi. Navíc jsou na můj vkus někteří až příliš laskaví. Na druhou stranu, je jasné, že tento typ knih má přinést pohodu, laskavost, štěstí, takže v tomto kontextu je tam toho akorát:).

A vše završuje porce psí lásky. Labradorka Tess je opravdu číslo. A vesnický román ve spojení s veterinární klinikou a tím pádem i zvířaty, to je lákavé. Jen škoda, že to nebylo jak historky z Herriota:).

Je těžké uvěřit, že Útěk na venkov je již desátou knihou od Julie Caplin, kterou jsem si měla možnost přečíst. A to ani nepočítám další z jejích knih, které vyšly pod pseudonymem. A tak se po nějaké době stalo, že po autorčiných knihách sáhnu vždy, když potřebuji takzvaně sázku na jistotu. Protože většinou už vím, co mohu čekat a nejsem zklamaná.
Útěk na venkov mi sedl, o to víc, že se sama mohu označit za "pejskaře". Příběh je tak nenáročnou oddechovkou, u které se i příjemně pobavíte, nenudí a je takovým milým pohlazením. Co mi trochu chybělo, byla nějaká výraznější chemie mezi hlavními postavami. Tu však hravě nahradí sympatické postavy, které si snadno oblíbíte. Příběh tak okouzlí hlavně svojí nenáročností a pokud nečekáte zásadní zvraty a dramata, budete spokojení.
Tohle je naprosto úžasná letní oddechovka, ideální na horké odpoledne, na dovolenou, nebo někam k vodě, obzvlášť pokud nemáte náladu, zaobírat se nějakými vážnějšími tématy.

Ich war wirklich gespannt auf den Autakt der neuen Reihe von Julie Caplin. Und ich habe genau das bekommen, was ich erwartet habe!
Ella zieht von London in das Haus ihrer Patentante, um darauf aufzupassen, so lange diese auf Weltreise ist. Zusätzlich legen sie und ihr Partner Patrick gerade eine Beziehungspause ein, darum passt eine Auszeit auf dem Land perfekt. Und wie das meistens so ist, wird man in einem kleinen Dorf direkt eingebunden. Allerdings hat auch Ellas Tante ihre Finger im Spiel, denn sie hinterlässt ihr einige Geschenke und Nachrichten, um Ella aus ihrem Schneckenhaus zu locken. Und dann ist da noch Tess, ein rabenschwarzer Labrador, um den sich Ella nun kümmern muss.
Und dann gibt es auch noch Devon, der etwas mürrische, aber doch sehr liebenswerte Tierazt des Dorfes.
Es war wirklich schön, Ellas und auch Devons Entwicklung mitzuerleben. Die beiden freunden sich nämlich nach und nach an... Das Dorf Wilsgrave und die Bewohner sind total süß und machen es einem leicht, alle ins Herz zu schließen.
Zuckersüße Geschichte mit Happy End - genau das, was ich gebraucht und erwartet habe! Ich freue mich schon, auf die restlichen Teile der Reihe 🤩

I utterly adored A Girl's Best Friend, it was filled with humour, snark, and doggies, what's not to love?
The main characters are introduced to the reader having just and are going through some of the worst life can throw at them, their relationship evolves from one of misunderstanding and scorn to friendship and eventually love.
Jules Wake also added something to the plot that I have never really liked before, the will they go back to them, it often irritates me but the way she handled the situation made her characters more realistic than others I've read about in similar circumstances.
The dogs, however, are the stars of the show, and their antics are very natural, some will have you laughing and others will leave you on tenterhooks.
My thanks to #Netgalley and #Sphere for allowing me to read and review this delightful story and I can't wait to see what is coming next for Jules, who in my opinion is right up there with Katie Fforde, Sarah Morgan, and Holly Martin.

Ella is an artist but she had lost her mojo a bit and has boyfriend problems so when her godmother Magda goes off on a cruise she is happy to go and housesit for her..... but she was certainly not expecting the four legged friend Tess...... she was a Londoner not the type to go out in all weather in wellies walking in the country! She soon found that keeping a low profile and working is not going to happen especially when she meets Bets and finds herself dragged into all sorts..... throw Devon the hunky vet into the mix and life is definitely not going to be quiet!

A lovely humerous story with great characters, especial Tess the dog, and some great comic moments.... I loved the Nellie the elephant incident in the church! Great easy beach read

Viacerým sa nám už stalo, že v určitom obdobi nášho života   sme odrazu zostali zo seba sklamaný a frustrovaný.Hoci dovtedy sme si žili spokojne. No z naších všedných dní sa postupne začala vytrácať radosť a spokojnosť. Dokonca sa v nás strácala dôvera či už v seba samich alebo ľudí. Zanevreli sme aj na najdôležitejší cit akým je láska. Pomaly ale isto sme chradli a vo vnútri v  nás niečo umiralo. Je ťažké sa z niečoho takéhoto otriasť a začať od znova. Podarí sa to len tým silným a odhodlaním , ktorí pocítia lásku, radosť a súdržnosť iných.  Dobrými pomocnikmi môžu byť napríklad aj domáci štvornohý miláčikovia ,  ktorý milujú bezhraničnou láskou... O tomto je aj príbeh Útek na vidiek, ktorý vám priblíži  atmosféru čarovného vidieka.  Bolo to také krásne.


Ilustratorka Ella preživa ťažké životné obdobie. Priateľ je z ničoho nič oznámi, že potrebuje pauzu vo vzťahu. Preto sa Ella rozhodne priať ponuku svojej krstnej mamy, že je  na nejaký čas postráži dom na vidieku a zároveň si ústredí myšlienky . K domu dostane aj chlpaté prekvapenie v podobe labradora o ktorého by sa mala postarať. Lenže ona nemá žiadnu skúsenosť so starostlivosťou o psa . Okrem toho jej život z neprijemnuje miestny veterinár a hŕstka dedinčanov.Podari sa jej prehodnotiť svoj život a dať šancu láske?

Ella bola zo začiatku poriadne nevrela a nepríjemná. Prežila zlé životné obdobie a chcela sa ukrit pred svetom v malebnom domčeku s krásnou zahradou . Kreslila postavičky myšiakov , ktorým vďaka svojej kreativite a fantázie vdychovala žicot. Ľudia tie kreslene postavičky milovali.  Tušila som že za jej hrozným správaním sa skrivalo niečo ťažšie. Bolo mi jej celkom ľuto , keď som zistila čim.  Niet čudo , že stratila inšpiráciu a napady. Prešla veľkou zmenou a dosť jej pomohol štvornoha sučka Tess , ktorá to s ňou nevzdala. Ich zbližovanie zo sebou prinieslo dosť humorných situácií. Veľmi nápomocný boli aj obyvatelia dediny a krsna mama Magda. Páčilo sa mi ako postupne prišla na to čo chce a získala dôveru lasku. Nakoniec som si ju obľúbila.

Devon bol pokojny miestny veterinár, ktorý sa z láskou staral o zvieratá a druhých.Jeho som si zamilovala od prvého okamihu. On v sebe niečo tiež niečo temné a ja som mu to chcela sňať z pliec. No bol dosť zaťaty a nevedel prijať pomoc od druhych

Romantická linka  Devon a Ella nezačali práve najlepšie o to zábavnejšie bolo sledovať ich postupne zbližovanie a rastúce sympatie medzi sebou, ktoré potom prerástli do niečoho hlbšieho.

Obyvatelia malebnej dedinky kde každého každý pozná držali spolu. Ich súdržnosť, priateľstvo a úcta bolí priam rozkošné.

Útek na vidiek bola pohodová romantika, pri ktorej sa budete chcieť presťahovať na dedinu.Kde počuť štebot vtakov , nadýchnuť sa čerstvého vzduchu a na duši pocítiť pokoj. V okrasnej zahrade , ktorá rozvoniava kvetmi a popod nohy sa vám budú obšmietať  vaši verný psi miláčikovia. Toto všetko za žiť na vlastnej koži je neopísateľný pocit. Júlie sa toto všetko podarilo preniesť na papier tak uveritelne. Knihu som užila.  Rozhodne vám ju odporúčam.

Julie Caplin je v našich končinách veľmi známa a dovolím si tvrdiť, že patrí k najpredávanejším zahraničným autorkám. Caplin však píše aj knihy pod pseudonymom Jules Wake a práve pod týmto menom jej v zahraničí vyšla kniha Útek na vidieku.

Rozdiel medzi Caplin a Wake je predovšetkým ten, že v knihách pod hlavičkou jej pseudonymu sa nezameriava na "cestovateľské edície", nenájdete v nich príbehy späté z prostredím mesta a tiež sa nezameriava na kulinárstvo špecifické pre danú krajinu. Čo však majú rozhodne rovnaké je pohoda, pokoj a akási ľahkosť čítania príbehu.

Autorka sa vo svojich knihách nezameriava na prílišné drámy, napriek tomu sa však jej čítanie nedá úplne považovať za plytkú literatúru. Aj v tejto knihe sa autorka dotkla témy "znovu uzdravenia duše" a nájdeniu novej chuti do života, no získame aj úžasnú komunitu susedov a v neposlednom rade lásku k zvieratám, predovšetkým psom.

Osobne si však myslím, že autorka nevyužila naplno potenciál prostredia, do ktorého zasadila príbeh. Vidiecke prostredie sa dalo nádherne využiť. Aj keď sa to snažila naplno dohnať zaujímavými postavami, ani tento rozmer knihy nesplnil svoj účel. Viackrát som sa pri čítaní knihy pristihla, že mi chýba doriešenie načatých vecí, ktoré vždy autorka upratala do úzadia. Akoby sa bála hlbšie zasiahnuť a príbeh tak zachovala naozaj v rovine oddychovej, kedy čitateľa nezaťažuje hlbšími zásahmi do príbehov vedľajších postáv.

Ella bola zo začiatku pre mňa príliš odmeraná, miestami povýšenecká, no postupne ju prostredie a ľudia okolo nej začali meniť. Chvalabohu, lebo miestami bola naozaj na facku. To isté aj Devon. Naopak miestna komunita bola úžasná a presne takto si predstavujem život na príjemnom vidieku, kde ste naozaj často odkázaní len na susedské vzťahy.

Na svoje si však rozhodne prídu nadšenci zvierat a psíčkari, pretože sučka Tess bola pre mňa osobne tieňovou hlavnou postavou príbehu. Postarala sa o nejeden roztomilý moment a jej dôležitosť v tomto príbehu bola nezameniteľná. Autorka aj vďaka nej vzdala akýsi pomyselný hold vzťahu a láske k zvieratám, ktoré často vedia byť pre nás aj terapiou.

Autorka, či už Caplin alebo jej pseudonym Wake, je majsterkou romantických príbehov, ktoré síce majú predvídateľné konce, všetko akosi tak ľahko plynie a problémy sa riešia ako mávnutím čarovnou paličkou, no napriek tomu nám to nevadí, pretože to je presne to, čo od nej očakávame.

Überraschend schöne Geschichte, die sich wunderbar flüssig lesen ließ und kaum Längen hatte. Besonders schön fand ich die Entwicklung der beiden Charaktere – anfangs waren sie mir beide ziemlich unsympathisch, aber im Laufe der Geschichte haben sie sich wirklich schön weiterentwickelt.

Keď sa spomenie Julie Caplin, hneď sa mi vynoria krásne obálky kníh, príbehy, ktoré pohladia dušu, ale najmä cestovanie prostredníctvom knihy vďaka autorkiným úžasným opisom prostredia a gastronómie, pri ktorej sa mi neraz zbiehali slinky. No v tejto knihe do tejto sféry veľmi nezabrdla.

Hlavnou postavou je ilustrátorka Ella, veterinár Devon a fenka Tess. Ella sa po sklamaní v láske utiahne na vidiek, kde si chce prečistiť hlavu a ako to tak v romantických knihách býva, stretne mladého veterinára, ktorý načas taktiež musel vymeniť Londýn za vidiek. Takže zápletka bola očividná, predvídateľná a také klišé. Na začiatku mi bola Ella nesympatická, liezla mi na nervy aj vďaka svojmu hroznému správaniu k štvornohej kamarátke, ktorá bola, len tak medzi nami, tou najsympatickejšou postavou 😁 V knihe mi veľmi chýbala taká hlbšia psychológia postáv. Mihlo sa tam veľa postáv, ale žiadna nebola priblížená detailne, aby som si k nej mohla vytvoriť vzťah alebo ucelený názor. Pôsobili stereotypne a nudne. Rovnako ako minimálne opisy prostredie vidieka. Asi veľmi porovnávam s Romantickými útekami, ale tomu sa asi nevyhnem po toľkých prečítaných kníh od autorky. Celý príbeh sa niesol v jednej línii, plynul pomaličky a ak aj niečo vyskočilo pomimo tejto línie, bolo to len na pár riadkov. Žiadnu extra zápletku, pri ktorej by sa vám rozbúšilo srdce tu nehľadajte. Je to presne oddychová kniha vhodná na relax, ak chcete vypnúť od reality, ale zároveň sa nezaťažovať hlbším čítaním.
Čitateľov si môže získať skutočne ľahkým a zrozumiteľným štýlom písania, ktorí majú radi romantické romány na vyvetranie hlavy. Neurazila, ani neohúrila, taký zlatý stred. Nebola zlá, ale zasa nič prevratné. Po Yrse, pri ktorej napätie sálalo z každej strany, dobrý ukľudňovák zvýšeného tepu :-)

Julie Caplin je mezi ženami neskutečně oblíbená. Není se čemu divit, i když má příběh odhadnutelnou dějovou linku a vy prostě víte, jak to celé bude a jak to dopadne - nemůžete přestat číst.

Julie vykreslí prostor, kde se děj odehrává - zde se jedná o vesnici, kde každý zná každého a kde všichni fungují jako jedna velká komunita. Popíše tuto oblast, kytičky, přehradu, cestu, po které hlavní hrdinka jde. Znáte její sousedy, víte na co se dívá na zahradě a dostanete tak pocit, jako byste byli její spolubydlící a čekali na další procházku, které se s ní budete moci zúčastnit.

Nejen to je důvodem, proč jsou knihy Julie tak oblíbené. U mě se jedná zatím o druhou knihu autorky, ale už teď vidím určitý řetězec chování. Jedna z postav si nevidí na špičku nosu, má omezený pohled na svět, jeho část nebo vnímá nějakou oblast více sobecky. Přijde prozření a uvědomění si oné lepší hodnoty. Hlavní hrdinka této knihy přijede na vesnici pohlídat nemovitost své známé s předsudky týkající se života na venkově a bez vztahu ke zvířatům. Nepřekvapivě si venkov a zejména pejsky zamiluje a to nejen díky fešnému veterináři.

Romantická linka mezi hlavními hrdiny je pozvolná, očekávaná, ale stejně zajucháte, když se konečně políbí. Nečekejte žádnou divočinu, opravdu se pouze políbí.

Mě v knize chybělo zakončení trápení Bets s jejím přítelem. Chtěla bych vědět, jak tato postava se srdcem na dlani dopadla a jestli se jí její milovaný vrátil. @juliecaplinauthor nenechala byste jí se dál trápit ne?

Doporučuji jako romantické čtení na odreagování od všedních dní.

Die Londoner Illustratorin Ella zieht sich für ein halbes Jahr in das Haus ihrer Patentante aufs Land zurück, um Abstand von ihrem chaotischen Leben, ihrer Beziehung und ihrer kreativen Krise zu gewinnen – doch im verschlafenen Wilsgrave, mit neugierigen Dorfbewohnern und einem ziemlich stürmischen Labrador, kommt alles anders als geplant.

Ich habe diese Geschichte wirklich gerne gelesen, vor allem wegen ihres warmen, ruhigen Wohlfühlcharakters. Der Schreibstil ist angenehm flüssig und lässt sich einfach weglesen, ohne dabei oberflächlich zu wirken. Besonders das ländliche Setting und die charmante Dorfgemeinschaft haben für eine richtig schöne Atmosphäre gesorgt.

Mit Ella musste ich anfangs erst ein bisschen warm werden, aber im weiteren Verlauf wird sie zu einer authentischen, nahbaren Protagonistin mit einer glaubwürdigen Entwicklung. Auch Devon konnte mich schnell überzeugen, und seine Hintergrundgeschichte bringt noch einmal zusätzliche Tiefe in die Handlung. Generell sind die Nebencharaktere – inklusive der vielen tierischen Begleiter – ein echtes Highlight und verleihen der Geschichte viel Charme.

Die Liebesgeschichte ist ruhig, aber dennoch spannend erzählt, ohne unnötiges Drama. Besonders positiv überrascht hat mich, dass neben der leichten Romance auch ein unerwartet tiefgründiges Thema aufgegriffen wird, das der Geschichte mehr Substanz verleiht.

Insgesamt eine rundum stimmige Wohlfühlgeschichte mit Herz, Charme und einem Hauch Tiefe, also perfekt für entspannte Lesestunden.

Die Bücher von Julie Caplin sind für mich allesamt Wohlfühlbücher. Auch bei "Ein Zuhause im Frühling" war das wieder der Fall.

Das Buch handelt von Ella, welche sich eine Beziehungspause nimmt und dafür von London aufs Land flüchtet, um dort das Haus ihrer Patentante zu hüten. Gegenüber dem Landleben ist Ella sehr skeptisch. Was hat ein Kaff wie Wilsgrave denn schon zu bieten? Schnell muss sie dann aber feststellen, dass in dem kleinen Dorf immer etwas los ist und ihr die Ruhe und die Natur guttun. Außerdem ist da ja auch noch der gutaussehende und etwas grummelige Tierarzt Devon...

Ich mochte die Geschichte wieder sehr gerne.
Ella ist Illustratorin und ich habe es geliebt über ihre Arbeit, Inspiration etc. zu lesen.
Auch das Dorf Wilsgrave und seine facettenreichen Bewohner fand ich sehr charmant dargestellt. Julie Caplin hat das Landleben und was es bedeutet in einem Dorf zu wohnen meiner Meinung nach sehr gut eingefangen.
Dass außerdem eine Tierarztpraxis und dementsprechend auch viele Vierbeiner in dem Buch eine Rolle spielen fand ich ebenfalls sehr schön und freue mich schon darauf in den weiteren Bänden der Country-Escapes-Reihe zu lesen, wie es dort weitergeht. Ich habe auch schon geschaut um wen es im zweiten Band hauptsächlich gehen wird und freue mich sehr auf die Geschichte.

"Ein Zuhause im Frühling" hat mir sehr gut gefallen, ist aber nicht mein Lieblingsbuch von Julie Caplin. Ich vergebe 4,5 von 5 Sterne.

Nádherná a jemná obálka slibuje příjemný odpočinkový příběh. A tak to i nějak je. Pomalá romantika, kde není skoro žádný zvrat a postavy nijak moc nevybočují z řady.

Ella si neví rady se psem a některé pasáže jsou svým způsobem vtipné. Je to ilustrátorka, zatrpklá životem a kmotřenka Magda se ji snaží vytáhnout z oparu sebelitování a užírání se v samotě. Bylo hezké pozorovat její proměnu a přizpůsobení se úplně cizímu prostředí, lidem a psům.
Devon je veterinář mrzout, ale svým způsobem umí být milý a je v něm vidět láska k práci a zvířatům. Ale nijak na mě nezapůsobil.
Bavila mě Bets, která je asistentka Devona a spřátelí se s Ellou. Ta vlastně ze všech postav vyčnívala asi nejvíc. Jen jsem stále čekala, kdy přijde na scénu její přítel, o kterém se hodně zmiňovala.

Až na pár stran před koncem jsem konečně pocítila tu chemii mezi postavami. Více chemie jsem cítila mezi Ellou a Tess než mezi Ellou a Devonem. 🤷‍♀️ Trošku mě tím autorka zklamala. Ač jsem četla jen její dvě knihy ze série Romantické útěky, tam ta chemie a náboj mezi postavami je, tady to všechno tak nějak vyšumělo.

Příjemná oddechovka o změně života, hledání sama sebe, o poznání, inspiraci a nových vztazích.
