This is the first book I have read from this author and I can tell you I was pleasantly surprised!! She will definitely be going on my GPS stalkers Facebook Route!! Loved the storyline, the characters, so easy to get lost in the story but hard to put down!! I can not wait to read the rest of this story and maybe the others in this book because I would be really down for that!! lol
So you know the story line Kallie loses her first love due to a tragic accident, without futher ado she just jumps in her car and just drives and drives with no destination in sight.Stops at a small town, enters a bar, drinks herself to oblivion and wakes up in a hot guys bed, goes to leave the next morning but her car has given up the ghost, Scarlett the hot guys twin sister takes her under her wing..
THE GIRL ALWAYS WITH A PLAN
I was the girl always with a plan, without a plan the rest is chaos, my life had been chaos since the day I was told about Carter, now i was just waiting for the disaster to hit.
I DON'T WANT TO BE ME ANY MORE, I CAN'T BE THAT GIRL, I WANT TO FORGET THAT GIRL
The easiest thing would be just to get rid of the car, buy something else and be on her merry way back home but that car had too many memories of her and Carter, so she decides to just to stick around town and wait for it to get fixed by none other than the hotty "Ryder"
I DIDN'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW THE BROKEN EMPTY KALLIE INSIDE THE SHELL THEY SAW.
I felt numb, alone, slowly melting away, I didn't feel sadness or happiness anymore.
After six years of being together, she wasn't sure who she was without Carter, First kiss, First love, First everything..
"I will only destroy you, I destroy everything in my path, and everyone, you should stay away."
I was very kindly provided with a copy of Jolted to read and review.
Ryder and Kallie, two very different people but both travelling down the same path. When Kallie is trying to cope with the grief of losing the person she's closest to in the world she seeks refuge by escaping the pressures of people expecting her to handle her pain without giving her the time and space to properly grieve. When her car breaks down in the small, quiet, out of the way town close to where her boyfriend lost his life, she is cast directly in to the path of twins Scarlett and Ryder. Unable to leave, avoiding her past and looking for a way to become someone new she quickly becomes immersed in theirs lives and their hearts. Will they find a way to help her open up, heal and become the woman she's set out to discover? Is her heart capable of loving again?
Kallie is seemingly happy and content within the first handful of pages, she has money, status and her whole future mapped on in front of her. She's young and her upbringing dictate it, but her lack of being able to stand up to people was painful to read at times. I always have an issue with characters that allow themselves to be used as doormats without so much as a "no" thrown out there, regardless of who it is walking all over them. I just wish that she'd of grown a little more of a back bone by the end of the book. She was easy to like and feel sorry for but at times I felt it was hard to form a proper connection with her.
Watching her work and interact, I saw the full scope of her class and warmth. I hated the contrast I could see between us. I was darkness, whereas she was light. She was love and joy, while I was hate and anger. She was brilliant, smart, and had everything to offer the world. I was bitter, with no college education, and could manage nothing more than screwing things up.
Ryder is more like a puzzle with some of the pieces missing. Although this book is dual point of view, Ryder's story manages to flow and progress but without giving away what it is that is slowly eating way at and consuming him. You see as he battles between hot and cold with his emotions, always taking things out on those closest to him. At time I wanted to smack him for trying, repeatedly to push Kallie away but after having reached the end of the book it is quite apparent why. He is beautifully written, with such strong emotions and characteristics. I loved every minute of his chapters, I could quite happily of just had the whole book from his mind.
Overall this was a really good read. At times Kallie became a touch repetitive when explaining that she wouldn't go back home because of having to live under her parents ideas and wishes but I am hopeful that during book two she will find her inner strength that I felt was always lurking just beneath the surface and finally seize her own future and wishes. It ends on a mild cliffhanger, you aren't screaming at the book for dangling you head first over a sheer drop but it does leave you itching to see what exactly will be resolved at the start of Impacted. One of the best points about the book was the curve ball it dealt near the end. Although after finding out what it is and realising that there had been hints towards it throughout the book, it did manage to catch me off guard and left me reeling. This book is filled with sexual tension, loss and dramas, it was a very fun read and I look forward to delving straight in to Impacted at this very moment!
I was provided with a copy of this book to give a honest review....
I must start by saying how much I really enjoyed this book, I love books that give you both angles to a story which this certainly does!!
This book follows the story of Kallie who seems to have everything going for her! Wealthy, hot boyfriend, jus graduated college and just waiting for the proposal, but then everything she has planed for her future changes in the blink of an eye. Her parents jus want her to get over it and move on with her life but she just isn't ready to let go. She finds herself a long drive from home sitting in a bar, when a handsome stranger tires to lift her out of her funk... Enter Ryder! He is your typical bad boy in appearance, leather, tattoo, jet black hair that jus oozes sex appeal!
I don't wanna say to much and give away the story, as it is one of those books that once you start you can't just seem to put down! The main question is even though they should stay away from each other can they? And if they give in to the desires that chase them will they be able to survive the secret that could make or break them?
This is my second Alyne Roberts book. I loved the first one and read it in a single night, so I was excited to pick up this one. Jolted follows Kallie, a girl whose life is jolted by the death of her boyfriend. She finds herself stranded in the middle of nowhere with no desire to return home. I loved this storyline, it was a little different that my latest reads. Kallie becomes friends with Scarlett (who is my favorite character now) and her brother Ryder. I love, love Ryder. He was a little bit bad boy, but was still this sweet guy. He takes care of her when she is drunk, helps her with her car, helps her find a job. Everything that you can hope for. The characters develop beautifully throughout the book, and I kept finding myself falling back in love with some of the side characters. Logan, Scarlett, among countless others. I would recommend this book to any romance and NA readers!
Wow Jolted was an amazing read!! It grab my attention right from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down until I was done reading. It starts out sad and I did have tissues nearby just in case I needed them. Kallie has her life all planned out with her long time boyfriend Carter. Kallie's world is turned upside down when she loses Carter. On the day of her graduation party, Kallie drives off and ends up in a small town. She meets Ryder at a bar in town. The next morning when she goes to leave, her car breaks down. Her car breaking down might just have been what she needs.
Ryder's sister Scarlett invites Kallie to stay with them while her car gets fix. Scarlett is one of the nicest, sweetest characters. I felt like she was too nice and she must be hiding something. Ryder is standoffish and sometime down right rude. He has feelings for Kallie but doesn't want to act on them. Ryder is definitely hiding something in his past and Kallie is not open about her path which is a disaster of any relationship.
There were couple surprised twists that had me going OMG. When I got to the end I found myself trying to turn the page for more but there wasn't more. There is a major cliffhanger. It left me questions and wanting more. I can't wait to read more of Kallie and Ryder's story. This is a drop everything and read book. You won't be disappointed.
This unbiased review is based on a free copy of provided to me by a Good Reads discussion group I am a part of.
The early portion of this book did a great job of outlining the story of a tragedy and the recovery process that the main character goes through. It was detailed enough for the reader to appreciate the story, without being overbearing. As the story goes on, the author tells of the main characters turbulent (and sometimes a bit unbelievable) recovery process.
There were a number of editing issues, with repeated prose, that was a bit frustrating, but once I got beyond that, I had an appreciation for the author’s approach and style. I am not a big fan of books that change points of perspective, and in this story, I felt that the use of that approach was a bit unnecessary. The style associated with Kallie was much better and easier to relate to than when we heard the story from Ryder’s perspective, which was a bit jilted and less relatable. I enjoyed the story. Overall, a quick and easy read, leaving the reader needing to read the next book due to the open ending.
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."
Overall I think this is a good story with a strong underlying plot, and certainly I cared enough to read it all the way through. However, parts of it just seemed so unrealistic, that it detracted from the storyline. There were some funny scenes, and some touchingly hot ones, which worked well. The story was told by both characters, and normally they moved forward, rather than repeating a scene. It will be very interesting to see where book 2 goes.
I was lucky enough to read an early copy, but that did mean that it had not been fully proofread - therefore I am not commenting on that aspect of it.

Kallie Adams just graduated from Georgetown and is saying goodbye to her best friend/room mate, Chloe, and boyfriend, Carter, before heading home. He's supposed to be one day behind her having already gotten a job interview for a very promising job. All she wants is a break to breathe and her boyfriend by her side, but as soon as she gets home her all too controlling and overbearing parents are already asking her what classes she has signed up for to complete her masters degree. They are molding her to run the family business, and although her family is extremely well-off, she has to work very hard for everything they give her. There are no free handouts in this family. The day after Kallie gets home, her mother informs her that Carter was killed in an accident on his way home. Kallie shuts down. She doesn't know what to do or how to handle it. She's always been Carter's girl. After a few weeks of her walking around like a zombie trying to work thru her grieving, her parents try to force normality back onto by still having her grad party. She wants no part of that. They just want their perfect existence back. Kallie, unable to face all the pressure being forced upon her and not ready to move on, decides to just jump in her car and run for it. She has to see the place it happened for herself. In the process of running, her car breaks down and she stuck hours from home. She meets Ryder Brooks while grabbing a bite to eat at the local bar. She decides to live a little and gets drunk with him and wakes up the next morning in his room not knowing how she got there. Doing the walk of shame, she meets Ryder's sister, Scarlet, and they instantly become friends. She doesn't want her parents to know where she is, so she decides to just stick around till her car gets fixed since she needs a break anyway. She tells Scarlet and Ryder nothing about herself and tries to use that time to figure out what the hell she is going to do and what she wants. Scarlet and Ryder do the best they can to help her, but with her keeping secrets they don't' know what to do. Ryder is also keeping secrets, and continues to push Kallie away and then pull her back which is confusing her more. Read this book to find out if Ryder is able to pry her secrets from her and help her cope or if he sends her running away from the secrets he is keeping from her.
I was on the fence about this story. It was a really easy read, and the story flowed really well. I liked Kallie's character. She had a lot to learn about life. Very sheltered, didn't know what to expect out of a lot of situations. But she wasn't scared to try to reach out there and take control of her life in a way. It's really sad she had to run away to do so because she was so molded by her parents and those around her and what they expected of her. She's like their puppet. Scarlet was awesome. Ryder....I liked how his character started out. I understand he acted the way he did because of his secret, but he acted more like he was bipolar. It was kind of annoying and semi-creepy/scary. The two of them together on his good days....hawt! Unfortunately the good days were few and far between and the story drug in the middle trying to show some kind of building of a relationship repeating the same stuff on a different day. She refused to tell them anything about her and his secret was dragged out for so long that you are just saying come on tell me already! We get it, something has happened to make you be a moody bastard at times. Had there not been such a huge gap in info and his secret been told sooner, I would've liked it better. I think it only hurt the story. As for the ending, I have my thoughts on that but I don't want to give them away and ruin it for anyone else. I will say this so that those of you who read it will know what I'm talking about it. It's not that far away! Why fucking wait so damn long?! I will read the next book because I want to know what happens. I only hope the next book isn't spread as thin and has a bit more meat. 3.5 stars from me.

I liked "Jolted" very much, to the point that I went and bought the follow-up book to see how Kallie and Ryder's story ends. Kallie Adams has the perfect life or so it seems. She just finished college, has the perfect boyfriend, Carter, high school sweetheart with whom her future is fully planned, loving, if overbearing, parents. Life deals her a brutal blow with Carter's death in a car accident, making Kallie look for answers to questions she never asked herself before. In a deep distress and emotional void left by Carter's absence from her life, life which gravitated around him, "he was my everything", her parents decision to go on with her graduation party is the last straw that pushes Kallie over the edge and on the run, to see the collision's site, in reality to look for what she is, to reconstruct herself from the ashes of her previous, care free, decisions free life. Running away doesn't solve the problem, but puts things in perspective and living among strangers gives her a new look at herself, not clouded by pity and sympathy for her dire circumstances. Her car broking in the small city, in the middle of nowhere, is a blessing in disguise, forcing her to take a look at herself in a new light, questioning her sheltered and meak life, always directed by her parents and her own desire to please the others, with no regard to what she really wants. Meeting Ryder at the local bar is a lucky strike, even though it doesn't seem so, st the first sight, he is the "bad boy", emotionally scarred, who loves only his twin sister Scarlett and his friends Logan and Caleb and has no room in his heart for anyone else, especially not a woman. But he is nice enough to take a drunk Kallie st his home for the night. The awkward morning after, Kallie makes Scarlett's aquaintance who takes her under her wing and offers hosting her until her broken car is fixed. I loved the story, narrated from both Kallie and Ryder's point of view, well paced, compelling, told with a sensitivity à fleur de peau, making the book a real page turner. If Kallie has a loving, even though overbearing family, herself being a bit at fault for never expressing her own desire, but choosing the minimum resistance path, pleasing her parents, then her boyfriend and setting herself up for serious trouble in the future, Ryder's life is completely opposite. A misguided decision as a young teen led to his family break up, loss of his father and subsequently his mother, emotional scars that built up walls around his heart, where he allows only Scarlett as a girl and Logan and Caleb as long term friends, as close as brothers. It is fascinating to read and watch the complex feelings that begin to develop between Kallie and Ryder, how they break each other only to rebuild themselves stronger, fiercer, more sensitive to each other and the surrounding world. Both are credible characters, deeply human and endearing with their qualities and failures. It's tough to say, but Carter's untimely death is the best thing to happen to Kallie, who was well on the way to set herself up for s life of regret. The secondary characters are charming, complex, as Scarlett and Logan, fun as Caleb, endearing as the ladies at the restaurant, grumpy but caring, as Ryder's boss or Hank. Kallie's parents were a bit tougher to understand for me, letting her go away for months, while having the material possibility to find her, knowing their daughter's distress ... I don't want to spoil the pleasure of reading the book, so I will stop here. I loved "Jolted" and the follow-up story and am looking forward to reading Scarlett's book.
Jolted by Alyne Roberts 5 of 5 Stars If anyone had any doubts that a tattooed mechanic with a troubled mind is sexy as hell, Jolted will change your mind. When Kallie got the devastating news that her boyfriend of six years was killed in a car accident, her world was turned upside down. Only worsened by the pressure to maintain her perfect façade of the educated little rich girl, Kallie flees. She had to see the site of the crash for herself. After wandering over into the next little town with only one stop light, her old Mercedes decides to give up on her. In the local bar is where she encounters Ryder. His tall, dark, grumpy, tattooed hotness hauled a very drunk little rich lady out of the bar and to his apartment for the night. This begins Kallie's journey to waking up from the haze in which she had been living and to realizing who she really is. New friends help her pick up the pieces of her broken heart without ever asking questions as to what happened. Ryder's twin sister, Scarlett quickly becomes the best friend that Kallie ever had and helps her learn to laugh and enjoy life. All the while, Ryder's mood swings will make a hormonal pregnant lady seem sane!! I love the stark contrast between the personalities of the two who once shared their mother's womb. Going from pristine and perfect to pink haired and tattooed, Kallie finds who she is and what's been missing in her life until she met the twins. I love that Kallie uses every little thing to mold her new life. She realizes what the faults of her previous lifestyle were and strove to correct those flaws. While trying to find herself, she also has to cope with the grief that comes with losing a loved one. Finding new friends who accept you for what's inside you is such a blessing and Kallie was fortunate enough to have hers open their home to her in her time of need. The character development and growth are truly beautiful. Not only did Kallie discover the side of her that had been stuffed away into a closet her entire life, Ryder found that, contrary to his beliefs, he isn't a complete failure and a screw-up. Love is a peculiar thing and it can sometimes sneak up on us when we least expect it. Book two needs to magically appear on my Kindle NOW!!!!!!! *A complimentary copy was received in exchange for an honest review.* Meagan, My Secret Book Spot
I honestly don't know where to start with this review. The synopsis is engaging and made me eager to pick up this book and lose myself in Kallie's story. Kallie, a sweet girl, brought up to respect her parents and follow the path they've laid out for her (which includes marrying her high school sweetheart) has her life ripped apart when her one and only true love is cruelly stolen from her. With her life, as she knows it, in tatters, she is expected to put on her "respectable" face, tuck away her sorrow, her heartache, and continue on as if nothing has changed. When Kallie finally breaks, it leads to her seeking closure but that's not what she finds. Circumstances dictate that she ends up in a new place, with nowhere to go, no friends, no support and to make matters more complicated, she simply cannot, and will not, entertain the thought of returning home...to her former life, to her expectant parents, to be the person who she no longer is. Feeling empty and hollow, Kallie befriends the quirky, happy-go-lucky and instantly loveable Scarlett (who I suspect has a story of her own) after waking in the bed of Ryder, the stranger she met the night before - who also happens to be Scarlett's twin. Ryder epitomises everything Kallie has never associated with and they clash repeatedly when he blows hot and cold and continually warns her that he will ruin her. They both harbour their own secrets, refusing to divulge to anyone what they're feeling. Ryder is self-abhorrent and believes that he is no good for anyone but might he be just the person to show Kallie that she can become her own person? That she can become (and is) someone other than that which get parents have raised her to be? I was rather disappointed to find that this book is littered with errors that should have been picked up in the editing process! There are missing words, extra words, wrong words (insulted instead of assaulted). Unfortunately this detracted from what would otherwise have been a superb story. For this reason, I have given this book 3.5 stars (4 stars for publishing purposes). Despite all this, when I came to the end of the story, I wanted more! I want to know whether Kallie will find her happiness or whether she's destined to live out the mundane life she tried to escape and I look forward to book #2.
**Copy provided by the author in exchange for a honest review** Thank you.
I have mixed emotions about this book and I'm trying to figure out how to put it into words.
There's Kallie, a privileged do-gooder that strives to please everyone around her. It's what her family expects of her. She had the perfect life she thought as long as she had her long time first love Carter. Then he was taken from her in a horrible accident.
- My first problem started here. The author rushed over Carters death and his funeral. I didn't feel Kallie's pain after his death. I thought I'd be crying but instead the author told me he died but didn't show me and I felt disappointed that I didn't really feel Kallie's loss.
Then one day weeks later Kallie snaps, she can't take it anymore. She can't be the girl everyone expects her to be so she flees and ends up in a small town hours away from home where Carters life was taken from him. Here she meets a Ryder a hot bad boy when she ends up getting drunk for the first time ever. Her car breaks down and Ryder and his twin Scarlett take her in until it's fixed. They begin to show her what it's like to live and be a normal 21 year old but she refuses to get to close. She's broken, damaged.
There is clearly attraction between Kallie and Ryder but the book moves quite fast. We didn't really get to see too many interactions between the two although they lived together. So I kept reading and reading wanting to get to the good parts. It took a while and I think that's because Alyne tried showing us Kallie's healing journey. I did appreciate this because it kept it somewhat realistic.
There were times I shook my head laughing at some of the stupid things Kallie did. e.g. She just woke up on the couch and Ryder was making coffee in the kitchen, she sat up and waved enthusiastically at him. Really?? I couldn't help envisioning her waving her hand back and forth super fast when a big cheesy smile on her face like an 8 year old. She did this a few times.
HOWEVER, the story still pulled me in and I kept reading. I didn't want to put it down. Perhaps because I was really waiting for her and Ryder to finally get it on after forever. But the pull was there. I admit I did skim through the last ten or so pages only to find out this book is a CLIFFHANGER.
~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads Review Team~
When this book first starts there is a tragedy but I didn’t feel any emotion when I was reading it. I honestly thought “WTH, why am I not feeling Kallie’s emotions?” I couldn’t connect at all. Maybe the author wanted the reader to feel numb? Who knows, but I felt nothing. When Kallie runs away and doesn’t come back is when the story starts to “feel” real. I instantly loved Scarlet, she is wonderful. Ryder is your typical bad boy in some ways, but he has his own issues. Kallie is trying to find herself and live how she wants to live instead of living like she is expected to by her family. In the small town she is stuck in due to her broken down car, she finds some of the nicest people she has ever met, people she can truly call friends. Kallie is starting to fix in and find herself then her past comes and finds her. THAT is when you FINALLY feel the emotions of the tragedy that struck in the beginning of the book! It finally comes out what really happened that fateful night and those who are involved will shock you. Forgiveness comes and finally you think you will get your happily ever after right? NOPE!!!! Something happens and months go by and you don’t get much detail or any dialogue and then BAM the book is over! I was not happy and that is putting it mildly. I could NOT believe after everything that the book ended that way. I sure the hell hope the author doesn’t make us wait forever for the next book.
Characters: at times it was easy to connect with the characters and at other times it wasn’t.
Kallie is spoiled with the way she has grown up. The perfect boyfriend Carson, parents who give her what she wants and attends college at Georgetown. She has taken things for granted without even realizing it. But she is loved and in love with Carson. He is her rock when she needs him. Kallie's world soon shatters. And what she once thought she knew is out the window. She thought she had her life planned out but destiny isn't always what we think.
How do you heal after you lose the one you love? Is there a correct time frame? Are you supposed to just pick up and move on? I mean everyone else's life continues but not yours and not Kallie. So what does she do? RUNS!!!
Ryder comes across this princess at the local bar. But something makes him want to protect her almost. He can't figure it out. But what he doesn't see coming is Kallie moving in with him and his twin sister Scarlett. But Ryder has recently went trough his own hell that's only one other person knows about. So can he help Kallie when he needs his own help.
This story was so intense. The author walks you through Kallie's grief one step at a time. She breaks you down with her writing. I found myself in tears at times while reading their story. But will they get their HEA??? You won't know until the next book! YES it is a cliffhanger! But I honestly can't wait to read what happens next. I would recommend this book to everyone!!
I received it in exchange of an honest review! You start this book with a smile, that very quickly turns into tears in your eyes...and then comes the heat!!! Well written, with a good story based on second chances, this book is addictive! Or should i say its characters are addictive! Because you see, to be honest, the trigger and topic of this book are classics (which is always a good way to go for me), but this is where Alyne Roberts' skills take place! She created fabulous characters who are sexy, hot, complicated, mysterious, loyal, fierce,... i adored them all!!! But there is something special to be said about our melting hot alpha, Ryder! He will make you forget about right and wrong, about the decent thing to do, about what you are suppose to feel! The worse is that you won't be able to escape the temptation regardless how badly you try! Some people when losing a loved one turn to alcool, or another way to grieve, but Kallie's drug of choice is Ryder! And oh my, what a way to cope with loss!! Usually being the hopeless romantic i am, i prefer the grieving to be longer, harder but how can you resist him??!! Emotional and sizzling this book is a rollercoaster ride! But beware!!! Towards the end the story suddenly becomes torturously slow!!! And it does finish on a "did i miss something?" moment!!!! It bothered me a lot but i just hope that means the sequel is going to rock!!!! I need more and right now!
Kallie Adams life was seemingly perfect as she graduates from Georgetown and making plans of a future together with her longtime boyfriend Carter Walsh. One tragic night her world is torn apart when Carter is hit by an intoxicated driver and manages to smash into a tree and dies.
Her world is torn apart as she feels a sense of loss. Her parents ends up throwing her a graduation party but she gets cold feet and ends up visiting the accident site. Not wanted to go home she ends up in a bar getting drunk with Ryder Brooks who takes her home to his place. Nothing happens that night and Kallie meets his sister Scarlett whom he shares his apartment. While Ryder is at work Scarlett offers to drop Kallie to pick up her car but the car will not start and ends up being towed to where Ryder works as a mechanic.
The part for her Mercedes has to be special order making her stay in town for ends at the Brooks’ apartment. She ends up working at a diner and making friends. There is a growing attraction between but Ryder is the opposite of Carter in physical features and ambitions,
Ryder has his own secrets and he is afraid that being around her will ultimately ruin her. Will his secret be the downfall or can these two find happiness together? Can they both survive their past and move on together.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. I loved the dynamic of the twins who could read each other well and were both a little dark and mysterious yet they seemed to compliment each other.
The female lead I initially did not like. Her world was meant to have been torn apart yet she seemed to be able to move on very quickly and to me she seemed a little disloyal and lacking depth of character. My opinion was changed and i realised that she had been pretending to live in a certain way to meet the expectations of others. She did get on my nerves by ignoring her life and family however as a result of grief and that type of change we all react in different ways.
I both enjoyed and was frustrated by the will they won't they get together scenes and was cheering when everything turned out ok in the end.
I felt that the author managed to convey their thoughts on the complete destruction of a life plan and deal with the emotions of guilt and grief very well. I was intrigued by the characters of Caleb, Logan and Scarlett and hope to hear more about them in future books.
Thanks for the opportunity to read this book. I would recommend to others

I have mixed feelings about this story. The book sucked me in from the beginning and I really felt for Kallie and her loss and pain and just wanting to escape. Ryder was also an interesting character in the beginning as well and I really liked the chemistry the two of them had. However, as the book went on, there were things that just seemed so unrealistic that I found myself rolling my eyes. Kallie ignores her parents for months and no one just comes looking for her? I knew that some sort of twist involving Ryder, Kallie & the boyfriend was going to come at some point, so that part didn't bother me too much. But everything after that seemed really rushed. When she finally does go home, her mom doesn't even seem to care that she dropped off the face of the earth for past several months? She doesn't even see Ryder for the next 6 months because she's running the jewelry store and then boom, cliffhanger, and it's over. I don't feel like I'll be continuing this series at all. Ryder and Kallie's relationship just didn't feel genuine enough to me to get really invested in them as a couple and instead of being intrigued by the cliffhanger ending, I was annoyed.
After graduating from college, prior to her graduation party planned by her parents, Kallie is hit with the tragedy of losing her boyfriend in a terrible accident. Instead of going home and dealing with the party and the pain, Kallie decides to escape. Kallie stops at a bar about four hours from her home and this is where she meets a man who has the potential to change her, but is breaking away from her good girl ways a move in the right direction for Kallie?
Ryder is a bad boy and gentleman wrapped up in a really great package. Ryder seems to have a caring heart, but he has his own demons. Does he have the ability to help Kallie open up when he has so much already to deal with?
"I will only destroy you, I destroy everything in my path, and everyone, you should stay away."
This book is full of emotion and a cliffhanger to top it off!!!! You have the hot and sweet Ryder, Scarlett, who is becoming a friend to Kallie like she has never had before, tragedy, demons from the past all wrapped up to create a story that you want to know what is going to happen next. I can’t wait to see what Alyne Roberts has in store for us in the next installment….
Jolted is an amazing book! I absolutely loved and adored it! Kallie and Ryder both had so much pain inside of them and my heart broke for them. I enjoyed and laughed at Kallie's innocence and how she had never even done simple things like ride a four-wheeler. At the beginning, she was so broken and hurt but towards the end of the book she really gained her strength back and became a woman who could stand on her own feet. I loved watching her grow as a person and become stronger with the help of Ryder. Ryder is a tattooed car mechanic who is definitely hot but also has a big heart. I just loved him! He helped Kallie so much and tried to always be there for her, whether it was as just a friend or something more. And Ryder's sister, Scarlett, was a doll and a sweetheart but it seems she might be dealing with some pain of her own. I really hope she gets her own story. This book ends in a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to read more Kallie and Ryder! I will definitely scoop up any books that Alyne Roberts puts out in the future.
Kallie has lived a life of privilege with her future mapped out for her after graduation. But when tragedy strikes, Kallie is lost. Running from the security of home, she finds herself in a small town and alone. A chance meeting with Ryder in a bar and Kallie quickly becomes humbled by the help of strangers. While becoming fast friends with Ryder's twin sister, Scarlett, Kallie learns to be herself.
I have very conflicted feelings for this book. While I thought it was good, it didn't stand out as great. At times I felt I was reading scenes from different books all smashed together into one story. While it doesn't leave a huge cliffhanger, I am intrigued to find where Kallie and Ryder's story ends up in book 2. I do like the characters, especially Scarlett, who gives Kallie a true friend she has never experienced before.
I hope book #2 gives us more realistic situations and in deep emotions between the main characters. I would also like to see a story with Logan and Scarlett.
Wow! I was sucked into this book from the very beginning and didn't quit reading until my eyes would no longer stay open! Kallie deals with a tragedy that shatters her world as she knows it. When she leaves to get away and leave it all behind, she meets Ryder and Scarlette. Scarlette becomes the friend she really never had. Someone who is there for her. Ryder, like Kallie is dealing with his own secret. Both of them try to keep anyone from finding out what is really going on with each of them. But these two are attracted to each other. When all the secrets come out in the open, can these two make a way to mend each other? They are more intertwined than they know. When Kallie has to return home, will she be able to stand on her own, or will she fall back into the trap of a path her parents has set out for her life? I am looking forward to book 2 to find out what happens with Kallie and Ryder's story! This one is well written, story flows great, and the characters are well developed. Would recommend this one! ~Chell

I really enjoyed this story, and I love how each chapter is told by each character. My favorite type if book :)
Jolted follows Kallie, a girl who seems to have it all - she is from a wealthy family, goes to a prestigious college/uni and has guy who is the love of her life. When her life changes in a blink of an eye - she loses everything, and ends up running away essentially from home in order to deal with everything. This is when she meets Ryder.
She becomes a totally different person, rebellious even following the aftermath of events.
I love the characters, the chemistry between her and Ryder and basically everything about them just fits together so well.
The book keeps you wanting more - will they stay together? will she love again and will Ryder let his barriers down and love in?
It kinda ends on a semi cliffhanger, and I couldn't wait to pick up book 2 and get started!
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest review and I have to say I really enjoyed it. In a way it kind of reminded me of The Edge of Never with the whole premise of escaping reality (or maybe it was the blonde braid). I loved the characters, loved the tension between Ryder and Kallie, loved the support Kallie received from Scarlett. The book was engaging enough to keep me up past my bedtime and eager to get back to the next day. I will say I had two minor complaints. First, I wanted more of Carter at the beginning. I wanted to grieve his death with Kallie but never got the chance to get to know him. I wanted to feel sad about his death but I just didn't. Second, the version I received could have used a thorough editing. Neither issue was enough to make me put the book down though and I overall recommend giving this one a read. I'm excited for book two!
Kallie was finished with college going home to Have her Graduation Party. Then the Night before her Graduation Party her boyfriend dies in a terrible accident. Kallie was grief stricken and her life felt like it was spiraling out of control. Kallie Meets Ryder in a bar in the town she drove to 4 hrs from home. Ryder was a gentleman and a bad boy all wrapped in one package. The next day when she tried to leave her Car breaks down. Now it will thousands of dollars to fix and she really doesn't want to go home. This book was amazing Until the end .. lol I am not much for cliff hangers... But Alyne did awesome job. There was so much emotions in the book I was tearing up over the loss that Kallie experienced. And Then the back and forth between Ryder and her. I loved Scarlet! I really hope to see more books With Scarlet & Logan's story. And Even Calab. This book left me wondering, Will Ryder and Kallie be together. Or Will it be too late !!

I thought the book was good, it kept me wanting to read more. The story dealt with a lot of different things, death, forgiveness, finding yourself, grief etc. In the end it all came together to make the story.
I felt the connection between Kallie and Ryder from the beginning. It was nice to read about the relationship developing, they didn't just jump into anything. They both held back their feelings until they were ready. They both were going through something big that connected them and in the end it brought them closer together.
I loved Scarlett, she helped make the story. The relationship that developed between her and Kallie was true friendship.
There was a couple editing issues within the book, as things were repeated, and was not a hug fan of the ending of the book, but I other then that I thought it was a great read and interested to read more to see what happens between Kallie and Ryder.
I really liked this story. I love stories where people regroup themselves after major tragedies and come out of them stronger than before.
Kallie was a fantastic main character, just the way i like them. After the tragic loss of her boyfriend she finds herself questioning everything about her life. She feels so lost without him and takes off to visit the place where he lost his life. But she doesn't feel like going back home so she ends up in a bar in a small city near by. And that's where she meets Ryder and his twin sister Scarlet. She ends up staying with them because her car brakes down and she doesn't want to call her parents for help. And that's where Kallie's and Ryder's story begins. Their chemistry is off the charts, but they both have issues they need to deal with before they give in to their attraction.
Beautiful story, beautiful main characters and i definitely recommend it.

After losing the love of her life, Kallie decides it's time to take a detour from the life expected of her and try to find out what she needs. She ends up broken down in a small town where she meets Ryder. Kallie isn't ready to open up about what she's been through but Ryder has his own secrets which he's not sharing with Kallie either.
Ryder's a bad boy with a heart of gold, he wants to help Kallie but she won't open up, Kallie doesn't want to feel anything for Ryder, she feels its a betrayal to her lost love, but you just can't stop the heart when it wants something.
When Kallie and Ryder's secrets come out and they realize their tied together it could destroy them.
I love, love, loved this book, the only part I don't like is the cliffhanger ending. I had no clue it was a cliffy, I was hoping for a resoloution!! I'll be waiting for book 2 to get my answers =)
Wow!! What a wonderful book. I read this book so fast, it was amazing. The beginning of the book broke my heart into two when Kallie got the bad news. She had her life planned out and it was taking from her with one phone call. My heart broke for her. What did she do to deal with the pain? She runs. Then she runs into Ryder. Swoon worthy, sexy Ryder. She is stranded four hours away. Ryder has his own problems that he is dealing with. All you do is hope for Ryder and Kallie to get together. The book kept my interest the whole way through, then you get to the end, which ends in a cliffhanger. I can’t wait until book two. I really liked the secondary characters also and I hope there is a book more on Scarlett and Logan. This is a highly emotional book but it is worth to read. I highly recommend this book. Great Job Alyne this book was amazing
