It was only a dream...

Every night, Blaire Barlow wakes up screaming. Her sticky hands are covered in blood from sins she barely remembers. Every morning, the light proves it was only a dream.

Real or not, the lack of sleep is tearing her life apart, threatening both her job and her sanity. Desperate, she turns to less than legal measures to cure her nightmares once and for all – the local drug dealer, Winder.

Winder denies her, until he is forced to shelter Blaire from a threat no longer contained to her dreams. With no other option, Winder offers protection and insight into the unsettling gaps in Blaire’s memory. The deeper they dig, the closer they come to the truth that could save them both, or damn them forever.

Bound by shared secrets, and a growing, forbidden desire, the two must work together to save Blaire’s life. But the truth can be twisted...and we all know how quickly a dream can turn into a nightmare.

“𝓗𝓮 𝓵𝓸𝓸𝓴𝓼 𝓪𝓽 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓵𝓲𝓴𝓮 𝓬𝓸𝓽𝓽𝓸𝓷 𝓬𝓪𝓷𝓭𝔂.”

At the start of the book, i kept thinking to myself “are we in crazy town? I feel like we’re in crazy town.” By the end of the book i was screaming & never wanting it to end. This was my first Torri Heat book & i am obsessed✨.

Winder, the man you are. 🥰 this man would do any motherfucking thing to protect Blaire.

“Our fates are entwined. Haven’t you figured that out by now?”

Blaire, you absolute badass bitch. I support women's rights, but I also support women's wrongs. A match made in heaven (or hell, depending on who you’re asking. 😏)

There were so many times i related to Blaire. (Just the popping sleeping pills with wine, nothing nefarious. 🤣) Miss girl over here popping “just vitamins” to sleep. 💀 honestly, so valid.

“They were just vitamins. Too many of them couldn’t hurt.”

God i love an “i didn’t know where else to go.” moment. 😭😭😭

THE TWISTS ARE TWISTING!!! I had whiplash in the best possible way. I can usually see twists a mile away, but Night Terrors kept me on my toes.

This is such a small thing, but the way i cackled seeing girls supporting girls at the party. There’s just something about it that warms my heart.

All in all, i loved every second of this book.

First, thank you to the author for the chance to review an advanced copy of Night Terrors! Second, THIS BOOK WAS SO FUCKING GOOD! The twists and turns NEVER STOP! Just when you think you’ve figured out something, BAM(!!), you’re hit with another twist in the story! This is one of the best ARC’s I’ve had a chance to review!

We have this red-headed, super feisty, miss independent, Blaire, or as I like to call her : Freddy (as in Krueger)… you know, because of the “nightmares” and killing 🔪 I LOVED HER!!! Her character was such a lil badass! And when she teams up with our sexy mystery man, Winder, everything gets so much more intense and twisted (and insanely hot 🥵). I’m SO HAPPY this was dual POV! Winders story kind of broke my heart. I just wanted to hug him (among other things… but we’ll stick with ‘hug’ for now). I wish this book was longer! I could have easily read another 300 pages about Oliver, Winder and Blaire’s past!

“I like how powerful you look covered in blood”

The Vow + 21 Jump Street + Nightmare on Elm Street = Night Terrors
If that ⬆️ doesn’t make you want to read it, I don’t know what will.

Night Terrors is perfect for fans of Butcher and Blackbird.

I didn’t expect this one to get under my skin the way it did. It’s dark without being over-the-top, tense without being exhausting, and the writing flows so easily you don’t realize how deep you’re in until you stop and go wait… what did I just read?

The main character is complicated and flawed in a very real, human way, and there’s this constant feeling that something is off, in the best possible way. Nothing is handed to you. You’re meant to sit in the discomfort, question motives, and second-guess what you think you know. Still to this day I am obsessed with him.

And the male lead? Dangerous energy. Morally gray. The kind of presence that shifts the entire atmosphere the second he shows up. You never fully trust him, but you also can’t look away and that tension? Chef’s kiss.

If you’re into psychological tension, dark vibes, messy characters, and stories that make you think okay but what if none of this is what it seems, this one is absolutely worth the read.

2.5 ⭐ rated down cause I can't give it three stars for the way I felt after finishing it

I would consider this book a good fit for those who are interested in starting reading dark romance genre, I wouldn't recommend this to "professionals". It does contain dark topics, gore and smut, but was it remarkable? No. The plot is, for my taste, too predictable and it's also way too fast-paced. I would enjoy it more, if there was more drama and more time to solve issues and answer questions. Everything happened too quick and was over even quicker.
I also couldn't really vibe with the main characters. I don't know, something just wasn't clicking with me how I hoped it would when I started to read this book.

It is my first book from this author, so I am not sure if all their books are written the same way, but I will definitely check their other stuff too, to see if I can find something more enjoyable for me.

Night Terrors by Torri Heat [ARC REVIEW]
★★★★★
5/5 stars
Release date: February 24th, 2026

A battle between trauma, history, and the things that get buried for survival.

IF YOU LIKE:
• Unreliable narration
• Nightmares, secrets, and memory loss
• Kidnapping—with a twist
• Pining, yearning, longing
• Moral greyness in all directions
• Violence and spice
YOU’LL LOVE Night Terrors

≪ Something I learned trying to fill in the gaps in my memories was that mistakes never really went away. They just manifested elsewhere. ≫

HIGHLIGHTS:
• Blaire Barlowe
→ From the very first chapter, I was obsessed with Blaire. That never went away. Her pragmatic attitude in the face of her memory loss and traumatic experiences is engaging both because it proves how strong she is from the get-go, and because you just KNOW that she’s moments from tipping over an unseen edge. Blaire walks the line between damsel and weapon, agent and victim, and her journey is intense and exciting throughout the entire book. I never stopped rooting for her, never stopped being on her side, and never once thought that her actions were illogical. Impulsive, maybe; but her entire ethos remains clear and legible even as she struggles to keep a handle on reality.
• Winder
→ Chapter Seven is an absolute masterpiece. I could write an entire review based on the effectiveness of that one moment alone; instead, let me talk more about Winder. His voice is beautifully distinct from Blaire’s, and the way he deliberately and overtly withholds information from both Blaire and the reader is brilliantly executed. Like Blaire, Winder walks on a line, too: the line between predator and protector, between healer and enabler. His devotion, his yearning, his darkness, his passion… It all blends together into a man who is suffering just as much as the traumatized woman he’s trying to protect. What fascinates me the most about Winder, though, is how he isn’t PERFECT. He isn’t mindlessly devoted and endlessly forgiving; he gets frustrated. He gets angry. He’s navigating a situation that is next to impossible, and he gets through it by being blissfully, beautifully human and real.
• Blaire’s mind
→ The psychological horror element of this book is executed extremely well. Blaire’s trauma is weighted enough to drive the story and brutal enough to leave you aching for her, but it’s not gratuitous or used for shock value. Blaire’s nightmares are horrible and traumatizing, and Heat does not let her go unscathed. The dream-like quality of the writing in those moments leaves you questioning reality right alongside Blaire, and her missing years are always the elephant in the room, both for her and for the reader. I was desperate to learn the truth of what happened to her, but terrified of what it would do to Blaire when we did.
• The mystery
→ The way the intrigue builds, bit by bit, over the course of the story is masterfully handled. We’re given mystery after mystery after mystery before we start getting answers; and even then, the answers spark even more questions. The unreliable narration did so much heavy lifting, and we got it from both sides: Blaire is unreliable because she can’t remember; Winder is unreliable because he refuses to share, and that distinction turns the mystery from a static question to a constantly shifting, growing enigma. I felt like a conspiracy theorist, connecting the crumbs and scraps of information, trying to understand the whole picture—all the while being distracted by the chemistry and spice between the two MCs. I have a pretty good mind for mystery, but I was still blindsided (in the best way) by a few of the twists and turns that Heat threw at me. There were dozens of reasons to keep reading, and it felt like Heat gave us a new thread to follow with every page.

≪ I wasn’t going to let her leave. But it would be better for both of us if she believed she had some say in the matter. Wasn’t that what most kidnappers did? ≫

WISHLIST:
• More time spent with Blaire’s past
→ To keep this spoiler-free, there are some revelations that I wish had been shown more explicitly, or that we got more time with. The final stretch of the book is fast-paced and intense, but I personally would have loved to see the origin of some of the feelings that Blaire ends up remembering. The relationship feels like it’s missing something, for me, and I wanted to feel those things land a little harder.

≪ “You think you’re broken. That you’re missing pieces. You’ve never been missing anything. I’ve just been carrying them for you.” ≫

This may be another one of those scattered, chaotic reviews because this book completely took over my body.

The mystery was so enticing. I wanted to know everything. I needed to know everything, and it delivered exactly what I was looking for. The pacing was on point. I literally couldn’t put it down. The dark suspense propelled me through the story, and I just couldn’t get enough.

Blood drips from Blaire’s fingers. Intense. Vivid. The perfect way to pull you into this psychological thriller. She is plagued by all-too-real night terrors. She cannot sleep, her work is suffering, and she is at a loss for what to do.

She struggles with C-PTSD caused by past trauma, which has wiped large chunks of her memory and affects her in ways she is still trying to understand. When she begins to realize that the horrors she has been experiencing may be real, and that a real threat is after her, she runs to the one person she thinks can help her forget, Winder. She finds herself trusting him and leaning on him as she slowly comes to terms with the side of herself she cannot control. Seeing small glimpses of the violence inside her peek through is completely captivating. Watching her realize that this darkness is part of who she truly is, and discovering through these nightmares exactly what she is capable of, makes me absolutely giddy. I completely loved it.

Winder has had it rough. When Blaire comes crashing back into his life, he can’t help but be overwhelmed by feelings that never quite went away, leaving him internally struggling. I really connected with his character, his past, his present, just living to live. Blaire comes back, relying on him and giving him purpose and focus. They’re thrown together, needing each other in more ways than they even realize. Their connection is visceral, intoxicating, and in my personal opinion, completely fated.

This book is entirely addictive and utterly delicious. We get all the “good girl, bad girl” vibes, so many quotable lines! I loved the writing, the story, and the characters. All-around, head-over-heels addictive!

Thank you Torri Heat for this gifted ecopy!

ARC Review

To the amazing author who wrote such a beautiful book, thank you so much for the ugly cry that came alone with reading it.

10/10 Definitely recommend 5 star read for sure!!

After reading this I’m definitely going to need therapy😭

Most of the time of me reading I was giggling, a lot of the times I was like “oh shit” or “I knew it!”. I’m not one for annotating books but I annotated the hell out of this one🤣
I loved from the moment I started reading the book to the moment I finished it the constant connection and urge to keep reading. First of all, Winder, I knew he was going to be extremely hot from the moment we were introduced to him even without him saying anything. Blaire is absolutely a badass! I loved how the book is about the hardships of finding herself. I felt like I was apart of an unsolved case/mystery.
The suspense was so intense there was moments my jaw dropped as I was reading and I had to sit up. Banter was hilarious I was even getting secondhand embarrassment I couldn’t stop laughing.
Some moments really had me on the verge of tears but then I reached the end, I started sobbing and it was hard for me to stop. Blaire had went through so much and honestly Winder did as well, not being able to remember who you were I could only imagine how terrifying it could be, reading Blaire’s pov made me terrified for her. It’s one thing to guess what someone’s going through and it’s another thing to actually know.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

is it bad to say i wish i could have night terrors so maybe it would summon Winder??? IM SORRY OKAY BUT I NEED WINDER. ugh i love him so much. I was in love with him as soon as he was introduced. the mouth on him? AHHH and he’s also a YEARNER and so freaking sweet. And Blair is such a bad ass!!! i love when the fmc’s aren’t weak. even tho Blair is struggling with a lot and i do mean A LOT.. she’s still so tough and brave! i just want to hug her! I received Night Terrors in return for an honest review.

Blaire is having nightmares she wakes up from dreams covered in blood and has no idea why. the dreams are keeping her up and sleep isn’t an option. Plus she’s up for a promotion and needs to sleep if she wants to insure she get’s it. When a chance encounter at a coffee shop lands her in Winder’s path things spiral out of control but the truth starts to come out.

I love Blaire she’s such a great character you can’t help cheering her on as she learns the truth and why she’s having these nightmares. At least she has swoon worthy bad boy Winder to save her a blast from her past. Winder hit’s all the button’s for the morally grey bad boy who’s just what she needs. They have this sweet and steamy connection and I just loved that he dropped everything to help her.

I’m a tad bit obsessed with the authors storytelling she always creates the most beautiful stories that capture my heart every time and characters to fall in love with. I was hooked from the first pages to the very last I couldn’t put it down till the very last page. I loved Blaire and Winders story it had everything I wanted and my only complaint is I wasn’t read for it to end. I’ve read every book by the author she’s one of my all time favorites and every book of hers has been top tier. Highly recommend if you enjoy a dark romance.

Maybe it's because I'm in my late twenties now, I don't know, but I just can't see myself falling for a drug dealer in his thirties who's still living with roommates...🙄 There was nothing romantic about that relationship to me. The author just did not sell me on this love story at all.

The setup was intriguing for a while, and I can admit there was an actual plot there, but then making the dead brother turn out to be the bad guy in the finale was such lazy writing, let's just call it what it is.

And another thing... apparently this man has been in love with her for ten years, great, fine. But if that's the case, why was he treating her like absolute garbage until they actually got together?

Like what is this even supposed to mean:

“You do when all I’ve wanted to do since I saw you all those weeks ago is fucking destroy you.”

?????

Excuse me, what?

Why exactly are you trying to destroy this girl, my guy?

Anyway, this brand of miserable love is really not for me. Next!!!

Blaire is seeing a de@d body and her hands covered in blood. Yet there is no body and she keeps having nightmares. What does it all mean?

"The one who was painfully honest with herself in the dark of night, and the one who was deathly afraid of what the shadows held."

As the story progresses, I got caught up more going down the rabbit hole with Blaire. What are the flashbacks she is having. Are they just dreams or something real that happened to her? How does Winder play into all of this?

"It was only a dream."

The further you get into the story; you start to feel a bit of a tingling at the back of your head. You are wondering what is real or not? A sign of a great psychological thriller that messes with your mind. The last third of the story is where things really get intense and fast paced. Readers did you see the ending coming? Torri crushed it with this book! This book is one that you will miss sleep over, and it is ten times worth it!

I went in not knowing this author’s writing style or really what to expect at all.
The book begins from the perspective of the FMC, Blaire, and her repeated night terrors. Losing her mind, lost time, poor sleep, barely functioning… and then she crosses paths with a guy that she just can’t make herself forget, Winder, a local low-level drug dealer. She doesn’t need much of an excuse to talk herself into searching him out.
Only to discover there’s a history there… one she can’t recall.
The night terrors that have plagued Blaire start to bleed into her waking life and with nowhere to turn, she’s going back to Winder for help. With Winder’s help, Blaire needs to find out what she can’t remember, why she’s having these terrors, and what the truth is beneath it all before it catches up to them.
Solid mystery with open door spice for those who like it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was rooting for Winder to get the girl.

“We’re two halves of the moon, you and I. Just because you can’t see all the pieces doesn’t mean they aren’t there.”

I absolutely could’ve finished this in one sitting, but kids don’t allow that!! From the beginning, Blaire had me hooked! She wanted to know why she was having dreams of MURDERING people, and so did I! She is such a strong FMC, trying to make the world a better place while trying to remember who she is. Winder is such a touch her and ☠️, morally gray, possessive MMC, who is incredibly loyal and devoted to Blaire.

Night Terrors is definitely a dark romance book for the ones who don’t like overly graphic ☠️ scenes! Told in duel POV which is PERFECT and just sucks you right in from the start!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It took me a bit to get into it, but once there- the curiosity got me hooked so I had to see it through.
Starting slow, our FMC has nightmares and is confused about what they mean. She runs into the MMC then literally runs to him. The connection was questionable at first, points for leaving the reader to wonder the storyline and background. However, the sudden chemistry seemed off… until MUCH later in the story and then the “oh ok that makes sense” is put into place.
Loved the dual POV, and the background stories definitely sealed the deal overall in the end.

Again, it took a while for the “connection” but it kept me reading and motivated to understand and the last 1/3 of the book really was top notch on unraveling it all.

It’s a total roller coaster. A psychological thriller meets gritty romance and it’s definitely one of those "just one more chapter" books.

Blaire is such a complex FMC. Watching her navigate C-PTSD and these terrifying night terrors while trying to piece together her missing memories was intense. Then you have Winder, who has his own rough history, and the visceral, fated connection between them is just... chef's kiss, seriously.

The pacing is spot on, the mystery is enticing, and there is some solid open door spice that fits the dark vibe perfectly. If you like stories where the suspense is thick and the characters are a little unhinged but easy to root for, definitely grab this one. It’s a wild, bloody, and emotional ride.

As always, check the triggers.

This was an interesting one for sure. Blaire has significant memory loss due to trauma, and she's been working with a therapist to recover it. It seems her subconscious has gotten a head start though, with vivid, brutal dreams. Every night, she has nightmares where she wakes up covered in blood. Searching for something to help her sleep, she discovers Winder.

Winder can't believe what he's seeing. He thought Blaire was gone for good, but there she was. And it seemed like she didn't remember him at all. As he works to keep her safe while she works at regaining her memories, her past keeps revealing itself in horrible ways. As she begins to remember her last, she realizes that there's more to her dreams they she thought.

I received this book as an ARC and let me fuckin tell you...the psychological tension and fires scorching hot tension. It left me speechless! The chemistry was simply chefs kiss.

The way we got to unravel Blaires nightmares and the weight they put on her wow, so well written. The way her trauma and struggles merge into something so hot and sexy.

The way she wrote about trauma, memory and the terrifying possibility that the demons we fight in our dreams may have roots to our lives in the real world.

The book and atmosphere kept my on edge from the very beginning at the first scream until the final twist. This was an amazing read!

4.5 ⭐️/ 2.5 🌶️🌶️ I absolutely devoured this book. It started slow but was packed full of emotion, imagery, and angst. FMC showed resilience, persistence, and determination to overcome her fears and any challenges that came her way. MMC showed his love through and through for FMC and although it may not have seemed like it always by the end there was no doubt about his intentions, love, or loyalty. The beginning was a bit confusing, but I wouldn’t change it because as the story continued it made sense for why the author set up the book the way she did. Check your triggers!!

This book was so intense I can’t even put into words how good it was.
First of all, the writing is incredible. I could feel the darkness, the intensity, and even her anxiety seeping through the pages.
Secondly, the characters are so well developed. Winder’s loyalty and devotion to her, and Blaire’s strength despite her pain and trauma, were beautifully portrayed.
And the ending?? AMAZING.
I’m so glad I got to read this book. It wrecked my heart and healed it at the same time.

Thank you so much for the chance to ARC read this book! My emotions were all over the place during this. At the beginning I was so confused, thinking what is real and what isn't. I was ready to go to loony town then Winder shows up.
Swoon over Winder! The perfect man, willing to give Blaire the moon if she asked. I was on the edge of my seat, I was sad, I was nervous.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC for this book. Never read a Torri Heat book before, but I’ll be back! It took me a few chapters to get into the book, but then I was hooked. It’s a thriller book with some romance interwoven. There are some twists that you won’t expect. I don’t like real dark books. This one is just dark enough to keep things interesting but doesn’t go overboard. Overall, I’d recommend!

Absolutely devoured this. A girl with memory loss but wakes up covered in blood? Yeahhhh I’m in for that ride. Add in a hot, tattooed ex-con??? Oh baby! This was a fast paced, spicy and wild ride. I read this in one sitting because I HAD to know what happened. I did predict basically the entire plot but it did not make this any less fun of a read for me.

I highly suggest for my dark/stalker romance girlies. You’ll love Winder 😏😉

I honestly can't get my thoughts to express how amazing this book was. I do wish it had been longer and that we got to spend more time with Blaire and Winder, but it was so so so good that I don't even care. I have been thinking about the plot twists that happened for days and the gasp I gusped was insane. Unreliable narrators? Absolutely. Yearning? 10000% yes. This book was a 10/10 for me and I highly recommend for a quick read that's going to leave you questioning everything.

Enter a world where the characters' own perspectives can't be trusted.

Are they just nightmares?

Is he even real...?

From the first page, you are made to sit tight but head tilted with joint confusion with the FMC.

It's made me pick up my once-forgotten journal; I can trust my own thoughts... right!

I have loved being along for the ride with Torri Heat's latest release. It has been so fun to design this cover and bring the paperback to life.

Was lucky enough to receive an advanced reader copy of this book.

I must say the only reason I put it down was because I had to adult/parent.

This book is actually perfect for those readers wanting to get into a darker book without going overboard. The story flowed well and is a good jumping point for anyone wanting to step into the dark romance world.

I liked it from start to finish. Do I like when someone is withholding the whole truth? no. Do I understand why they do it? yes, but I'm mad about it anyways.

There were truths and plot twists I didn't see coming.

Loved the relationship and the tension.
explosive. Not super spicy 🔥 but still up there.

I love strong women that ask for help. For me it feels more real that way in this book.
