He's too sexy…

When Ben Harris agreed to fill in as a cover model at an author signing he wasn’t sure what to expect, but women throwing themselves at him, numbers being stuffed in his pocket, and covert attempts at getting into his hotel room definitely wasn’t it. On the other hand, there is the hottie assistant he can’t keep his eyes off...

...for her love.

Clarissa Darling is always eager to be her cousin’s assistant at signings, but the one thing she wasn’t planning on this time around is the sexy man candy posing for pictures at her table. The last thing she needs is another womanizing playboy chasing after her.

Ben is determined to show Clarissa that he’s more than just a pretty face and smoking body. He’s betting on wearing her down and weakening her resistance. Will one taste of this man candy be all it takes to have her craving more?

Although I have one-clicked several of Jessica Ingro's books, based on excellent blurbs, word-of-mouth recommendations, and copious 5-star reviews, Man Candy marks the first time I have read one of her books. It will not be the last.

Being man candy at an author signing -- groped, flirted with and propositioned -- was not exactly what Ben Harris had in mind when he agreed to do a favor for a friend. Neither was meeting the beautiful assistant he can't keep his eyes off.

Clarissa Darling has a bad track record with men, and no matter how intense the connection between her and her cousin's model may be, she's done with hot, sexy, selfish men.

Except Ben is determined to wear her down and prove he's different. Can she let him in before it's too late?

Ben. This book is BEN. He's a wonderful character, one you want to root for and one that makes you think everyone else is silly for not seeing what you see...that he's book boyfriend perfection. I may have struggled somewhat with the childish, somewhat irritating antics of Ben's brother, Tanner, and Rissa's cousin, Meredith. I may have wanted to knock some sense into Rissa, with her back-and-forth denial of their chemistry. I may have shook my Kindle on occasion because of bad decision making. But through it all...BEN. He made this book. Can you tell I love him?

Ms. Ingro's style is charming, playful and fun. Man Candy was an enjoyable -- albeit occasionally frustrating read -- and one I breezed through. How could I not? The story was interesting, Ben was delightful and lovable, the song quotes were a blast to try to place (even if I am still singing Britney) and the ending... Oh my, the ending! I loved the epilogue, which was a stellar finish and very rewarding for lovers of happily ever after. The last three words gave me a big, huge smile, and I'm betting they will you too.

As a first timer to Ms. Ingro's work, she definitely has me excited to read more. Lucky for me, I have them pre-loaded on my Kindle so I don't have to wait. ~ Beth, 4 stars

An author signing, a cover model, and a gorgeous author assistant—what could go wrong? A lot!

Ben Harris is coerced into filling in at an author signing. Not having any idea what to expect, Ben finds himself in some precarious situations involving the women attendees—the least of which is his attraction to the author’s assistant, Rissa.

Clarissa “Rissa” Darling, works as her cousin, Meredith’s assistant during author signings. She’s wary of the pretty boy man candy sitting at the table. She’s dealing with enough man challenges in her personal life, she doesn’t need the hot playboy chasing after her.

Ben and Rissa are determined. Ben’s determined he’s going to prove to Rissa he’s not just a gorgeous hunk of man but a man of substance and heart. Rissa’s determined to not be fooled again by a pretty face that can’t be trusted.

I love Jessica Ingro’s books. Her Concierge series is one of my favorites. She balances humor, wit, angst, and sexy times beautifully in her books. I really wanted to love this book. I’ve been to several author signings, fangirled over the authors and had pictures taken with the cover models. I really liked Ben and Rissa for the most part. BEN. Swoon. Ben never gave up and was truly determined to win Rissa’s heart. Rissa, I wanted to slap some sense into a couple times, and yes, I did find myself shaking my Kindle. Now, Meredith and Tanner on the other hand were childish and annoying to me. They’re lucky they’re family because I’m sure both Ben and Rissa would have happily ditched them both at some point! ~ Missy, 4 stars

Review by Jen Hagen

Jessica Ingro writes the best male characters. The majority of the time they include very strong alpha personalities and are hotter than hot. In “Man Candy” we are treated to Ben, who is a lot of hot but is a little bit sensitive along with being all sweet. Another twist in the author’s usual storytelling is that this is told mainly from Ben’s point of view. There is something to be said about a story being told from the male POV as it always seems to add more dimension to the layers of a story—at least for me it does.

Ben is 28 years old and has been silently infatuated with a girl for the past 6 months. He sees her quite often when he catches lunch at the deli, but is completely caught off guard the one day that she is standing next to him in line.

Any smooth moves I thought I had went out the window being this close to her. I had never crashed and burned like this with a woman before. What the f*ck was wrong me?

Ben’s brother, Tanner, leads an active lifestyle (if you know what I mean…wink, wink) and he has double booked his plans for the weekend. He has managed to convince Ben to take over his spot as a book cover model at an author’s signing. Ben reluctantly agrees, never knowing that he would have to take off his shirt and objectify himself to hoards of women. The thing about Ben is, even though he is extremely good looking, he doesn’t like to flaunt himself. He wants women to see him in other ways besides his body. Could he be any sweeter??

His mystery woman is Rissa, and Rissa is already in a relationship – albeit not a very healthy relationship because he is the epitome of what-not-to-have-your-daughter-hook-up-with. But I digress…it’s Rissa life to live and she may just be more comfortable staying in a relationship built on lies than finding a good man, such as Ben.

At the most inconvenient/inappropriate time, Ben and Rissa finally have the face-to-face introduction that Ben has dreamed out, but definitely did not dream it would happen in this context.

One drunken decision—or lack thereof—and my dream girl thought I was a pig.

Never fear…things have a way of working themselves out and Ben and Rissa will find that they belong together. It’s just that it is going to take a very long time to find that moment as things don’t always go as planned.

“Would you mind if we didn’t go any further tonight? I’m a little tired and talking about Scott kind of killed the mood for me.”
I shook my head, knowing it was own fault for opening my mouth at the worst possible time. How lame could I possibly be? Now I was cock blocking myself.

When they finally get together, it’s not the end of the story. There is still plenty left to be worked out and there are some angry moments, but not by my Ben because he is just too sweet to be angry with. Rissa just doesn’t know what she wants. Friends or lovers? Which one should she choose?

“Friends with benefits is another way of saying that I’m good enough to hang out with, good enough to sleep with but never good enough to be with.”

See what I mean about Ben being sensitive. He is such a nice guy…perhaps too nice. Will he get his heart broken or will he finally find the elusive love he longs for?

“I just wanted you to know that I’m letting you go. You need to be able to decide what you want and you can’t do that when I’m always there pressing you for more. And if this is our last dance together, I want you to know that regardless of everything else I love you.”

Ben you are just too sweet!! I love you! Oh wait..he wasn’t talking to me. Rissa needs to pull her head out of the sand and see how wonderful she could have it with Ben! Ben is definitely candy that will melt your heart.

This is the first book of Jessica Ingro's that I've read, and it definitely will not be the last! Man Candy was an interesting take on a love story, and I enjoyed every minute of this story.

We meet Ben, who has been crushing on this red headed girl for the past year, but has never made a move. When his look a like brother Tanner asks him to do him a favor, he did not know what he was getting into. Go to an author signing with one of their friends, and smile for pictures is what Tanner told him, he was NOT prepared for everything that followed of for Meridith's assistant to be the red headed girl he's been crushing on.

Ben had an uphill battle to get Clarissa to give him a chance, and the things she puts him through made me fall in love with his character for never giving up. Most men would have said to hell with it and walked away, but Ben knew Clarissa was the one, and just trying to get her to see that was a battle in itself.

I loved all the twists and turns that Jessica Ingro took us on in Man Candy, and the story was light, funny, and at times frustrating, but I enjoyed every minute of it!

If you're looking for a quick sweet read, about a hot male model, a love story with tons of twists and turns, definitely pick up Man Candy today!

I had already wrote the most amazing review and the lovely Goodreads ate it..So we will try again..What shall I say about the sexy as well Ben Harris besides I probably shouldn't have read this right before going to my first author signing..This book may set my expectations a little high for the man candy on display..lol..But I definitely learned what not to do like hide out in male models hotel room beds..Could be seriously embarrassing..But that is not what I got from the book it was seriously a love story like no other..A word of advice ladies..Leave the past in the past that's why it's there..Don't make the man in the future pay..Loved this book..

Just not getting into really. Which is sad, I got to meet the author at Book Bonanza last summer. Oh well, just not the read for me unfortunately, even with the perfect sounding synopsis, title, and that cover!

I received an copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion…….

I really loved this book. There were a lot of funny and crazy moments. Along with some super sexy moments......

Ben is so sweet and down to earth with a tiny wildside to keep him interesting. I love how close he is to his brother and mom. It really rounds out how perfect he really is.

I will say that I was not a huge fan of Rissa. I get it. I really do but there were several little things that turned me off of her even with the explanations. Probably because of how much she hurt Ben every time......

However true love can not be fought so I also get why Ben had a hard time walking away.

I seriously LOVED Tanner and Meredith. They were so funny and perfect supporting characters. Tanner is a great brother always there to offer advice.....

All in all I give it a 4* but only because of Rissa. Writing, story development , and the rest of the "cast" get a 4.5* :)

Thanks Jessica for a great book!!

Hope we get to hear more from Tanner!! ;)

I know that when I need a hot, sexy, yet sweet story, I can always count on Jessica Ingro to deliver. She has this way of creating unique stories and characters that you can't help but love.
Man Candy was different. I was actually a little hesitant before I started it. To read about a guy filling in as a cover model, it didn't seem like a story that was going to really hold my attention. Of course, I was quickly proven wrong.
Ben has had his eye on a girl from afar for a while. He sees her every day, yet she has no idea that he even exists.
Clarissa has a horrible past with guys. Her current boyfriend is no different. He seems to be just like the rest of them. She's tired of men in general now and says she's going to swear them off, especially the womanizers.
This story proved me wrong. I should no by now that Ms. Ingro will never disappoint. I will admit that I judged this book just by what the synopsis said about it. Man Candy was so much more. It wasn't just a cover model who had a thing for an assistant. It was a guy and a girl, being judged by outer appearances and for past mistakes. It was two people battling to move forward with something that could be magical and life-altering. And can we just talk about Ingro's epilogues. I love a good epilogue that leaves no questions unanswered. Thank goodness she always gives us that. You never have to wonder what happened with the couple later on. We get answers to questions that we would have otherwise been left wondering about. No matter what, I always know that I can happily turn the last page and not dread the ending.

DAWN'S REVIEW

While I think the book has some potential I didnt like the back and forth with the 2main characters. I thought that while ben was sweet and charming that Rissa wasnt the best leading lady for the book. There were times that I just wanted to slap her and be like its time to move on Ben. I thought that she strung him along to benefit herself. I have read alot of books and have hated alot of characters but Rissa completely tops the list of Main ones I don't like. I think that to me she displays the behaviors of a middle schooler and not that of a adult.
Given that I think that there are some really sweet parts in the book but felt rushed at some also.

I’m a big fan of Jessica Ingro (especially Urban Love Prophecy) so I was looking forward to diving into this book.

Ben has been secretly yearning for the gorgeous woman he sees daily so imagine his surprise when she turns up at a book signing he has been pulled into modelling at by his brother, Tanner. Clarissa is as beautiful, if not more so, when he comes face to face with her and he feels that instant pull towards her. Never having any trouble with women being instantly attracted to his hot good looks, he finds her a challenge.

Clarissa is fighting her insecurities, especially after her past history and her current troubles with her married ex-lover, Scott. She has little or no trust in men and is wary of giving her heart to anyone, no matter how sexy she finds Ben.

Ben was an instant hit for me and I especially liked the book was majorly from his POV. I loved his rapport with his brother, Tanner who was a total man-whore. The contrast of the brothers was a blast to read about and the way they behaved was hilarious, especially when their Mother became involved.

Clarissa, unfortunately was not a hit with me. I found her behaviour, although understanding at first, it just grew more tiresome and off putting. I did not connect with her at all, which was a shame as if she had been more forgiving as she became at the end of the book, if would have warmed me to her. The angst and bizarre behaviour she threw out just let down the book for me and went on for too long.

Everything else was great though! There was plenty of steam, some hilarious one liners and most of all a lovely story of family, love and trust. If I could have just gelled with Clarissa this would have been a four or a five star, however even with the lovely ending I would overall give this three stars. I liked it but mainly for Ben and the secondary characters.

Jessica Ingro is one of my go to authors, she has been ever since I read Love Squared (if you haven’t read it yet seriously pick it up and read it) so I was excited when I found out that she would be releasing another book. Hell that cover alone made me want to lick my screen, I didn’t, or did I? I had to put off reading it because I had been dealing with some things and finally got enough time to squeeze it into my hectic schedule.

I wanted to absolutely love Man Candy but I ended up liking it just not loving it. It literally kills me to type that sentence, trust me when I say that. I loved Ben, I loved his manwhore brother Tanner, I loved the premise behind Man Candy, hell I love to drool over some sexy as sin male models, I loved the authors, but what I had a problem with was Clarissa. For me, she took away from the book. She was seriously at times just plain stupid in my opinion. She couldn’t figure out her own mind if a big light up arrow with flashing lights pointed at the correct answer if she tried. Ben is what saved it for me. He was a sweet guy who wanted to prove that he was good enough for her even when she would push him away. He may have a past but trust me it’s not like you would think. He portrays what we all hope some of these male models are deep down, good guys with hot bodies that have huge hearts and fall hard when they meet the right woman. Sadly too many aren’t like that even in fiction.

Would I recommend Man Candy to my friends? Yes I would because it is a really good book that will make you laugh, turn you on and show that you shouldn’t judge a book or man by his cover.

I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.

WOW I just finish reading this book and love it, even though their where some part that this book got me mad, at some point I wanted to strangle the female main characters. Just cause the way she was acting but than she grow on me, Now I love it that this was from the male point of view, cause I love it, love the way he thinks and love it that he goes for what he want, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.

The story begging with Ben, his is working with a friend, when he see the woman that he being dream walk out of her car. One day on his lunch break he when to the restaurant, and order his sandwich after placing his order, he step away to let the other person order, but what he couldn't believe was that the person was the woman of his dream, after a small talk some guy came in and talk to her, that's when he knew that she was taking, that same day while his hanging out with his brother, his brother ask him for a favor to fill him in on his friend book sigh. He agree to go, while at the book sigh Merredith tell him that her cousin should arrive any minute to help out, but what Ben was not expecting was for that woman to be Rissa his dream woman. That's when they both knew that their life where about to turn up side down.

I really love and enjoy reading this book, love the characters, Author Jessica Ingro THANK YOU for introducing me to this awesome book and wonderful characters love them.

**TARA'S REVIEW**

Have you ever wondered what really goes on at book signings?

When Ben reluctantly agrees to fill in for his brother at a book signing, he will unexpectedly cross paths with the woman he has watched from afar for more than a year.

Clarissa is assisting her author cousin at signings across the country. Her tumultuous relationship back home, has left her out of sorts and not really interested in getting to know Ben. Ben is not willing to back down and tries to penetrate the wall Clarissa has built around her.

He is relentless in the nicest way possible, but Clarissa is determined to keep her distance.

If there is one word I could use to describe this book, it would be FUN. It had me laughing at the things that were going on at these signings and had me wondering how much of it could be true. The storyline was really easy to follow, and kept me engaged the whole time. I really loved Ben, he was such a kind hearted guy who always pulled the right moves. I wanted to shake Clarissa and tell her to wake up!!!

The story progressed at a good pace and I never felt that anything was overdone. There was some pretty hot sex, all of which was well written but never over the top.

Sexy. Fun. Sweet. Laugh Out Loud.
This book was crazy good and a fast read.
I devoured it in one sitting and it devoured me back.
This book was a different romance with a lighter tone.
This author is a favorite of mine and she continues to surprise me with each book.

This is Ben and Clarissa's story.
Ben is helping out as a fill in cover model at an author event.
Clarissa is helping her cousin at the event.
When these two met they have tons of chemistry.
Clarissa has ben hurt and has no desire to repeat with Ben.
Ben wants Clarissa and he is going to get her.
Will Clarissa give Ben a chance?
Can he prove he is more than just man candy?

I loved Ben a whole lot even when I wanted to smack him.
I like how he set his eyes on the girl and went after what he wanted.
I admired his determination, perseverance, and of course his sexiness.
I also liked Clarissa though I wanted her to open her eyes and quit being so stubborn.
I liked this two together and the chemistry they had.
That ending was.... perfect!

I highly recommend anything by this author.

I loved the new plot line! I´ve never been to a book signing and now I wish I could….
Seriously Ben was just so amazingly sweet, and a really awesome guy. He had this desire to settle down and was willing from the start to get his own lady! I love a guy who knows what he wants. He is what makes me give this book a higher rating. Thank God the book was told from his point of view, because oh my could I hate Clarissa more… I think not (I’m guessing if the book was told mostly from her POV I would have probably left the book unfinished)!
She had this idiotic thoughts at times and was so annoying I never felt a connection with her.
Still it was a good book, with funny monologues that wrapped up hilarious and steamy scenes.

The story has laughs, pain, betrayal, and heartbreak.

This is Clarissa and Ben’s story. Ben noticed Clarissa in a place he always eats lunch. She works across the street from him. When his brother needs him to do a favor he ends up at an author signing as a cover model. Who is there but his crush Clarissa? As he gets to know her he wants her even more. But she thinks all he is a player. When they do connect people seem to keep getting in the way. Can Clarissa judge Ben from his actions or is she just judging him by his Man Candy cover?

I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. The brother go on my nerves in the book I wanted to totally smack him.

I recommend this book.

I was given this book for an honest review. Firstly Clarissa Darling! I love that! Now if you don't know the old time show Clarissa Explains It All, I'm sorry for you. This book had me laughing so hard I swear it was a good thing I didn't pee my pants. Ben was of course swoon worthy and a all around nice guy! For a minute there I was rooting for Cassandra! Bottom line read this book! It was wonderful and I can honestly say best last line ever! Now you really gotta read it just so you know what it says! Well done Jessica Ingro, I will be grabbing more of your books in the future!

3.5 stars. I thought this was going to be a bit of a fluff read going on the title and cover but it turned into a really nice read. Most of the book is told from the heroes POV and in the whole it worked. However this also made the heroine really annoying in her back and forth emotions as you weren't privy to her inner thoughts. I really loved the epilogue it was sweet and spanned a number of years making it very satisfying.

Man Candy is a funny story of the behind the scenes of book signings. I myself, am not a fan of male models, but I know a lot of people who are. This is what makes the story so funny. Cause I can totally see this stuff happening at events.

Ben agree to stand in for his brother at a book signing. While he is not the model on the book cover, he is close enough to stand in.
Clarissa is assisting her author cousin who is an author. She is also the object of Ben's secret affections for a while. Clarissa has no clue about Ben's feelings. but there is something that is drawing her to him. She fights is (partly because she is dating a major jerk)

Ben is relentless when it comes to pursuing Clarissa. It is cute and heart warming. Once he sets his sights on her and knows there is something there, he doesn't want to let it go.

This was a funny and quirky story about true love. It made me laugh out loud many times.

Love Ben. He is such a great guy and I love that most of the book was in his point of view. Clarissa I did not like. She is such a pill. I understand being scared since her relationship with Scott crashed and burned but she just flipped personality too quick and let her insecurities rule her too much. One minute wanting to be with Ben, then getting scared running back to Scott, the wanting to be with Ben, then getting scared of getting too involved, then being angry that Ben is a womanizer when he clearly showed that he wasn't, then running away again... I just wanted to slap her. All in all an ok read. Would have been better if Clarissa had a backbone...

Started out well enough but as I kept reading about the heroine, I decided I really don't like her (attitude, personality, sanctimoniousness etc) at all. Even as sweet as the hero is, I don't think this story is enough for me to keep reading. It's probably a case of "it's not you, it's me" but I slowly started declining down the interested slope at 15% and tried but failed to get into it.

I'm sure it'll be great for others and hope to one day pick this back up and finish it. Told in male POV

It took me a while to read this but I finally finished. I really liked Ben and Tanner and even the relationship between Tanner and Meredith was more entertaining for me, I just didn't feel it with Ben and Clarissa...
It has an ok storyline, but for me something was missing. Now if there was a book for Tanner I may be persuaded to read it
