Ryder has been living uneasily with his past self, the Immortal Weryn, but the strain finally breaks him. Weryn takes over and doesn't recognize his lover, his friends or anyone else. Still, he fights beside them to hunt two powerful, dangerous vampires who threaten to unleash a blight on his lost city.
Will he embrace his ruthless warlike self and sacrifice his friends to take back his territory? Or will he choose his life as Ryder -- a life that Weryn sees as weak, soft and dependent?
Meanwhile, Grayson's time as a human is running out. His weakness drags him down as he tries to participate in Academy life with his friends. How long can he balance his ties to the human world and the vampire world before something forces him to choose?
Ugh this book was incredibly dull. Book 5 AND we are still waiting on Grayson to turn. Who will turn him? Will it be Ryder/Weryn? Ugh. I’m beginning to not care. Apathy has set in. Ryder forgetting his name was also unnecessary. It’s like a bad soap opera. Amnesia and talking to one’s self like you are insane.
Also a new term was introduced that’s actually worse than “childe”.. it’s grandsire. Ick. The war children references need to stop too. We get it. There was a vampire war. It was messy. LETS MOVE ON.
Nothing new really happened. Except Legion is finally dealt with and they have even more Kaly slices to deal with. More Roan Tithes out there. Ugh. 😣 It’s getting to be a super tired storyline. 4 more books like this won’t be good.😕
I was thinking a Vampire Academy would be a good spin off from the original 9 books BUT rehashing things over and over is not pushing the story forward. I’m hoping for a miracle in book 6… for the book to be interesting!
