4⭐️ This book was bingeable and drew me in almost immediately because the plots kicks off in chapter 1, so much that it had me pausing like “woaaaah, what’s going onnnn?!?” But it left me glued to my seat because i simply needed to know. It was extremely easy to get into.
As much as I was sat for the plot, the romance at times was BRUTAL. This is a dark why choose romance and you SHOULD 100% CHECK TW before reading this. But, as much as it was brutal, it was also spicy as hell, with some romantic moments that I was like “okay that was sweet😭” the men are downright diabolical in this, but they were down bad for Sage. But, even though it was why choose, my favorite mmc was Beckham (which i kinda hate because it’s a why choose, i want to stan them all, but that’s okay!)
I did like the FMC and the way that we slowly got to see her growing into her own throughout the book. But, I do think there were some points in the plot especially toward the end that I would’ve liked to get more details on because it felt like some of the most important things were just briefly touched on. But, overall 4⭐️

Plot: 4.5/5 • Spice 5/5 ———> This had me on a wild ride most of the time. Sage is one lucky girl. Being the it girl chose to be the Hallow Boys pick of the year after moving to Georgia. *chefs kiss*
She may have lost her parents, her school, her house and her friends, but she gains a life when she moves. Kaiden, the domineering one, Beckham, with a heart of gold, and Vincent, the broken boy all create a special place in their hearts for her.
This book has murder, stalking, (somewhat) of a secret society, multiple men, swords crossing, college setting, abuse, found family, primal play, surprise pregnancy (hence the .5 down rating IMO 😑) IS A STANDALONE (😍) with a HEA. It flows so well, and I enjoyed the way it was written.
Each of the guys brings something to the table. No personality is alike. They’re brothers who don’t share blood. I love Beckham and Vincent’s relationship, even with the heartache in the middle/ends.

I mean what a freaking ride. This book is like a roller-coaster. You never know what twist or turn is going to happen and when it does it is not what you expected. I love the town of Blackmore and just the vibe from it. I think my favorite is Beckham even tho I do love me some Vinny & Kaiden. I absolutely love the storyline in this book. It is so unique and not your run of the mill dark romance books. The characters are so good together and there is mystery, romance, smut, murder. I mean you can not ask for more from a book and this one has it all. I highly recommend and be prepared to binge because you will not be able to put down.

One of the most delectably dark reads I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading, and without a doubt already one of my favorite reads of the year and even for all time!!! I had the pleasure of reading the original Hallows Boys duet a few years ago, and getting to read the improved, revamped version in 2026 has been the absolute honor of a lifetime. This revamped + reworked version exceeded my previous expectations and made me love and appreciate this book + Rosie so much more this time around. The overall storytelling and voice of this full novel is striking; everything is more immersive, layered with emotional depth and growth, more concise and confident than in the previous version, and I’m so excited to see this novel flourish to its utmost potential this year. Miss Alice, you have outdone yourself and made the giddiest girl reading this book, and revisiting my old friends in a fresh perspective. Not to mention the chapters of smut after smut after smut? I couldn’t put this book down even if I tried.
Rosie Alice builds a world that feels both haunting and intimate, centering on a strong, resilient female heroine, Sage, whose journey propels the narrative through key elements such as betrayal, fear, relationships, and survival. The pacing is charged and easy to follow, with a sense that danger lurks in every scene and even quiet moments feel infused with tension. Themes of trust, survival, and psychological unraveling are threaded through the narrative, giving the story a layered complexity beyond its surface romance and thriller elements. It’s everything I didn’t know I needed and has easily become one of my top reads within the genre. What sets buried within apart from other dark romance novels is its unflinching look at darkness and desire — not just in a literal sense, but in how characters grapple with what they carry inside themselves and cope with those things with one another. gosh did i ever miss the hallows boys and their queen and what a pleasure it’s been diving head first back into their world revamped!!
throughout my time reading, i felt a plethora of emotions. i thought to myself, “ohh im gonna mention this, and this, and this” in my review at the end…just for my heart to burst at the end of the book. i felt happy, upset, shocked, wet, and basically every emotion on the radar all while reading it and i’d gladly do it all over again if i could.
i can gladly say that this deliciously dark read brought me out of my reading slump and im so so so in love with each of these characters in more ways than one!
In this story, we meet The Hallows Boys…
Kaiden: Known as the “leader” of the pact, beyond dominant, irresistibly sexy, smart, hands on, strategic, and a lover boy for his only queen 👑
Beckham: the sweetheart and ladies' man, lover of all things Sage and Vinny, thoughtful, dominant, a knight in the dark 🖤
Vinny: the shadow (not to be mistaken as anyone easily missed, cause he sure isn’t) of Beckham, lowkey, mysterious, loveable, and dark ☠️
And last but certainly not least, the woman who walks all these three boys on her leash…
Sage: The Hallows Queen, the owner of all three men’s hearts, a go-getter, smart, loyal, beautiful, and wise 🥀
Every character has something that any reader can relate to in their own way and I find that that is exactly what drew me into the world of Blackmore. back when i first read the original hallow boys duet, i remember falling in love with the atmosphere that Rosie built and the way each character had so much depth yet redemption behind them and how they came to be. reading about their story, put together in one, revamped and rewritten beautifully, and how it had such a dark but beautiful ending in the end after being apart of this world since the release of the original hallow boys duet is a high i will never get over.
from the chapters of smut after smut, to the chapters of my heart being ripped from my body just for it to be glued back awhile after, from the happiness and peace i felt in the end…wow. it’s a beautiful feeling to read a story that makes me feel the way Rosie’s stories do. she builds such unique, original, and beautiful stories that it’s easy to forget about any and everything else. all praise goes to the one and only: Rosie Alice.
i know that Sage and her boys’ world is a world i will never forget or leave no matter how hard i try.

buried within by Rosie Alice is a dark gothic academia romance novel, following Sage as she is forced to move to the small town of Blackmore GA, where nothing is quite as it seems, especially Kaiden, Vincent, and Beckham, Blackmore University's mysterious Hallows Boys.

When the author and reviewers tell you this book is dark, they are not kidding. If you aren't questioning what happens within these pages, you may not be paying attention. At the same time, the depth of the characters, the brilliant storytelling, and the true twists you'll find here will leave you thinking about the Hallows Boys and their Queen long after you finish the last page. This is one of only two books I have read in my adult life that I truly had to stop, put down, take a breathe, and ask did that just happen? Rosie Alice does not just lean on the same old twist and turns of the dark romance genre.
As for Sage and the boys, tragic really doesn't begin to describe the character's back stories, with each one more heart wrenching than the last. However, you will truly understand the strength and power of found family by the end. The changes and growth in each characters is done so creatively, its hard to remember the first impressions you have of each at the start by the time you close the book on their story. No one is quite as they seem in Blackmore, although I think we can all agree we need a Joyce in our lives. Read buried within to meet Joyce and the others who take up residence in Blackmore.
While I enjoy going in to novels blind, be aware of your mental health and be prepared for what you may read if you need to. This is a work of fiction, and contains actions not condoned by the author or readers. Know that buried with contains many dark themes, but also that the writing is excellent, the characters display depth and growth, and the creative story is unlike others in the genre.

When I say I loved this book, please know I LOVED this book. I’m on a freaking high after reading this. This is my first book by Rosie Alice and my God it was fantastic.
I’d also like to say right now for the record, Kaiden Thorne is my favorite Hallows Boy now and forever 😮💨😮💨😮💨😍😍
Buried Within is why I love why choose and in this book it’s done perfectly and ticks all my boxes. A Gothic Univesity. A Gothic feeling small town that hides secrets and lies and age old traditions that hide the darkest secrets of all. Add to that an amazing FMC, in this case Sage and her three men, Kaiden (😍😍), Vinny and Beckham (or B as Sage affectionately calls him).
Sage has been uprooted from her life and moved to the small town of Blackmore after a tragedy and has to adapt from city living to everything a small town can offer. Which is not much. Until she learns about The Hallows Boys. Three boys who are participants in a yearly event on Halloween night called The Hallows Games. The Cemetery Crypts is the location and one girl is chosen to participate. What happens in the crypts is between the boys and their chosen and this year, Sage will find out….
What follows is a story with twists that legitimately shocked me that I did not see coming at all, secrets that go back generations and finding out who you can really trust when you don’t know where to turn…
It’s why choose, it’s a mystery in a small town, it has ominous vibes, it’s perfection.
The boys are amazing. I’ll leave it at that. Just know some of the BEST why choose boys I’ve ever read and I’ve read A LOT of why choose.
This book is a big one, 600 pages but it did not feel like that at all. I was hooked and I devoured this in two days. And the spice?! WOW…Just…it was so good…yep 😮💨😮💨🤤🤤

when I went into this I was expecting a rewrite with the same plot line as the duet but different. rosie blew me away, I know some of the things from the duet didn’t migrate into bw but this book and this world could never do no wrong. It was phenomenal. I missed my babies so much and I’m honoured to be able to read them in a fresh novel with fresh eyes. everything t about this book was fucking amazing. I love this book and I can’t wait to have the paperback decorating my shelf! if you know me then you know KAIDEN MF THORNE is my favourite hallows boy and always will be. I didn’t realize how much I actually missed him until I read this. I was introduced to rosie alice with the first book in the old duet “the hallows boys” and I have read everything she has ever written since. this particular world is amazing and I will always come back to it. I pray for more stories in the world of Blackmore because just being in this dark world is like being called home. First of all we started with sadness then it turned into some mess. I have all types of questions. Honey this how we start off a book. Sage suffered a tragedy and then is shipped off to a new state and new school. At her new school Blackmore University she meets Kaiden, Vinny and Beckham and these young men are quickly interested in Sage. And they are up to no good! These boys want to play a game with her and I can’t wait to see what happens. This book is broken down in parts, we’re at The Games(part two). We having a little x rated fun and then boom fun over. The Games are over (part three) and there is a mystery that Sage and her boys are trying to solve. Buy instead of working together it’s a her vs them. As I get further along in this book I know Beckham is my favorite. I’m reading along racking my brain trying to figure out what’s going on. I know I don’t trust Sage’s friend Juliet. Watching these four work through their issues and create a beautiful connection is awe worthy. Things are still happening while they are creating this bond. And now Vinny is a favorite now. Now we’re on to part four and I still have so many questions. And I think we are finally going to start getting some answers. Now I’m just starring at my kindle like omg. I’m going through all the emotions right now and I don’t know how to feel. Like I don’t f with Vinny no more, Becks my man, Sage is my girl and Kai he’s kind of creeping his way into my heart! So much is happening. Part five is where all the things go down and questions are answered. I can’t say much without giving it away. What I can say is I had some theories along the way and I was correct. And part six was the cherry on top of the sundae. This book took me through it and I enjoyed every minute of it. I was kept on my toes, my flabbers were ghasted all the things. Rosie well down. I will always pick up a Rosie Alice book!

This dark romance book is thicc and filled with suspense! It's set in a small town, and has gothic/spooky vibes. It is a why choose romance with mm in it.
We follow Sage as she moves to Blackmore and starts to unravel the town's darkest secrets while learning more about herself in the process. Shortly after moving there, she catches the eye of the Hallows Boys: Kaiden, Beckham, and Vinny. Soon, they all realize they must work together to see past the lies and betrayal, and no one is safe.
The guys can be serious jerks but Sage really brought out the best in them. I loved watching her bring out the softer side of Kaiden. I lived for Becks and Vinny's relationship! It was a special bond they had, and I liked that Sage didn't take anything away from it, she just added to it. She was the missing piece they all needed.
The suspense and mystery had me on the edge of my seat. The jaw-dropping twists were crazy, and I literally had to force myself not to skim through the next pages to see what happens. I especially loved the settings and the vivid descriptions like the leaves crunching etc. It really set the mood. The spice in this book is the hottest I've read in a quick minute! Super, super spicy! The epilogues were actual perfection!! They really tied everything up beautifully, and I couldn't have asked for a better ending for these characters and the town.

We start with our FMC, Sage, who just lost her parents and on top of that she lost everything she has ever known. She is sent to a small town university where things aren’t quite what they seem. Where she meets our MMCS, Kaiden, Beckham and Vinny. She is immediately drawn to them but things start to unravel quickly and there is too many questions surrounding this town and her family. I won’t say more so I don’t ruin the plot. 🖤
It’s a wild ride from the beginning and keeps you wondering what’s going to happen next. And the men are broken perfection 🤤. And Sage is a strong FMC who keeps rolling with the punches all the way through.
Over all this is a four star read for me and I am happy with the ending. ❤️

Where she meets our MMCS, Kaiden, Beckham and Vinny. She is immediately drawn to them but things start to unravel quickly and there is too many questions surrounding this town and her family. I won’t say more so I don’t ruin the plot. 🖤
It’s a wild ride from the beginning and keeps you wondering what’s going to happen next. And the men are broken perfection 🤤. And Sage is a strong FMC who keeps rolling with the punches all the way through.
Over all this is a four star read for me and I am happy with the ending. ❤️

Yall. When RA announced that she was rewriting The Hallows Boys and The Hallows Queen, I was sick to my stomach but excited. I loved the duet so much, I reread my kindle versions often. So, when she said they'd be going out of print to make way for buried within I snatched the paperbacks up expeditiously. (Just wanted to share my lore with this story 😏)
Anyways! Everything I loved about the original story is still here: hot guys, the games, the cemetery. But I really appreciate that the characters were aged up to college instead of high school. It made more sense to the plot and just how the characters are.
AND I can't post this little mini review without saying that, while reading buried within, it really feels like RA took her time to flesh the story out and perfect what she'd done in the original story.
Please go read this if you love Halloween-time settings, sword-crossing reverse harems, secret society type traditions.
I really love the stories we get from RA and can't wait to see what's next 🖤

Sigh. What an incredible read. This gave me every emotion. I went on a roller coaster. Like OMGGG. My heart was in my stomach there for like 25% of the book! I was NOT expecting some of that to happen!! I am just amazed at Rosie Alice. I have been reading them for years and the growth is staggering I cannot wait to read more and more.
I absolutely ADORE, LOVE & LUST over these characters! I love the way Kai is so hard but soft with Sage. The compassion Vinny & Beckham have for each other not to mention the SEX??? Oh & the obsession they all 3 have for HER?!?! UGH!!!

This book blew my mind away. I thought it was gonna go one way, but I was so wrong and I'm glad I was? I couldn't put this book down because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Our girl Sage really went through it, and I teared up not only with some of the things that happened to her, but to the guys as well.

Finished this in a day. So good🥰 the spice - it hit. I was giggling and kicking my feet ! It’s currently almost 3AM I had to stay up to finish I will probs regret in the morning but if you’ve read and know the twists yk! This book is a 6 star for me. I was crying - laughing - giggling - 🥵🥵🥵🤤🤤 - pissed off. You know it’s a good book when it makes you FEEL!! I also am a very slow reader so when I read a book in less then a week - it’s GOOD!!! 10|10 recommend til I die!! I never want to leave BU. I will forever love Becks. I loved Sage the FMC❤️🔥 & Vinny😩😩😩🫶🏼 Now Kai- we have a love / hate relationship 🤣😑🖤 but I do love me a Mean King!👑

I ate this story up! I loved Sage's story as she grows into herself and changes with everything she learns and experiences once she gets to Blackmore. I love each of the guys for their own reasons too, and I enjoyed watching everything fall together eventually through out the story. The epilogues made me smile as we get to see the group finally in their hard fought HEA. They had to get out of their own way in some cases and external problems needed handled in others and all of it makes seeing them get their HEA so perfect!

Sage is my spirit animal I swear 😈 Beckham my lil cinnamon roll, Vincent the level headed bad boy, and Kaiden the king always needing control (this boy fell hard for Sage and has no feelings so he didn’t know what to do 🤣) I loved this book and I’ll never not recommend it I am a sucker for a good found family! Sage is thrust into a new life unexpectedly and meets the hallows boys. Kaiden Beckham and Vincent are absolutely dark and delicious 🤤 This book did not go the direction I thought it would it was so much better! The plot twists just kept coming and had my jaw on the floor. I really enjoyed it and I can’t say much without spoiling it so just go read it 🤣

If you love small town, reverse harem, secret society, with a side of dark academia and creepy graveyard games, this book is definitely for you. I devoured this book. I can't wait to see what Rosie Alice comes out with next!

This was one of those books that immediately grabbed my attention and refused to let go. I���m talking shirking responsibilities, staying up way too late, and picking up my kindle to read before the first drop of coffee hit in the morning kind of hold. It was just that good!
I’m always a sucker for dark academia romance. Add in why choose, secret society, AND a mystery to solve and I’m a goner. The pacing of this book was perfect as we are pretty quickly thrown into the action as Sage is forced to move across country and into a world she never imagined, but always craved.
The Hallows Boys are all so drastically different, yet bound by trauma and brotherhood. Their chosen family dynamics are everything and show through their interactions with Sage. What started off as a game quickly morphed into a quest for self discovery, desire, and suspense.
I loved that for every dark and depraved moment, we also had so much growth and development that really brought these four together in the best of ways. They all represent the missing piece each was looking for. Brace your self for all the emotions and delicious spice you could crave!
Check your TW, as there are many scenes that will have you feeling a variety of emotions. Each was beautifully written and handled with the grace and care the story demanded.
This is definitely one of those books I wish I could read again for the first time! Highly recommend!

When Rosie mentioned a revamp of our Hallows Boys & their queen, I immediately bought the previous copies just in case. That way the original was always with me. BUT holy crap, I'm even more in love after Buried Within 🖤
I loved everything even more than before. I laughed, cried, melted, and more.
