Rate this book
When Ashlyn Turner receives an antique scrimshaw doll as a wedding gift from her domineering mother, she dismisses the accompanying curse as a dark folk tale told to children to get them to behave. She politely accepts the gift, but that night everything changes. Her fiancé is injured in a devastating car crash, and her best friend is acting strangely.

The doll's glassy eyes seem to follow her now, and Ashlyn realizes with creeping horror that it punishes betrayal without mercy—executing a justice she never asked for, revealing treacheries she never wanted to know.

Luca, a mysterious stranger who specializes in cursed objects, shows up unannounced determined to destroy the doll before it kills again. Ashlyn is more than willing to cooperate but there's a terrible once the curse marks its keeper, it cannot be broken until the dark magic has run its course. As Luca grows closer to Ashlyn, working desperately to find a loophole in the ancient magic, she begins to suspect the cruelest truth of all—that everyone she knows has secrets. And anyone could be the doll's next victim.

A terrifying supernatural thriller

This is a great haunted tale of betrayal. The plot twists and turns kept me hooked until the end. The gory deaths were spine-tingling. Definitely a must read for horror fans.

Excellent Horror Tale!

Cursed items are a horror mainstay, but here it is done with creativity and panache. You're sure to care about the protagonist and the terrifying situation in which she finds herself. Scary and well-written!
