A marriage of convenience, a plotting grandmother, and one grumpy principal who never saw it coming.
Middle school English teacher Brynlee Hart is broke, stressed, and stuck with a fixer-upper house that’s falling apart faster than her finances. When her wealthy and wildly manipulative grandmother changes the terms of the family trust, Brynlee is left with two marry someone, or kiss her inheritance goodbye.
Enter Travis her gruff, rule-loving principal with a resting scowl and zero tolerance for her quirky teaching style. He’s the last person she wants to spend a staff meeting with, let alone marry... but when Travis learns his own family is in financial trouble, a fake marriage might just solve both their problems.
They agree to keep it strictly business—no feelings, no drama, and definitely no kissing.
But as Brynlee starts to see past Travis’s prickly exterior, she realizes there might be more to her boss than sharp words and buttoned-up suits. And Travis? He’s finding it harder and harder to resist the chaos that is Brynlee Hart.
Can two opposites survive a fake relationship under one roof... or will pretending to be in love turn into the real deal?
Loved this one so much! What a fun read! It’s marriage of convenience, which I love, but there’s a fun mystery twist too that was super fun! Loved Travis & Brynlee together and how they chose one another. Can’t wait for her sister’s stories!
The Thin Line Between Love and Hate - Brynlee couldn’t believe the only person who could help her out of her predicament was her nemesis, but she laid down her pride and convinced him. Travis was shocked when Brynlee propositioned him with a deal that would benefit both of them, but he decided to accept her offer. The relationship between Brynlee and Travis was initially awkward because they were previously archenemies, but they managed to clear up their issues, which changed the dynamics of their relationship.
Unfortunately, Travis and Brynlee’s lives were upended when an allegation was made against him and the small town gossip mill tried to damage their relationship. However, Brynlee’s trust in Travis led to her undertaking the task of uncovering the truth, which put her in a few difficult situations, but she eventually managed to convince her sisters to join her in her quest. Even though Travis didn’t have the confidence in their relationship, Brynlee proved herself by ensuring his name was cleared, so they could finally have a chance at a happy future together.
Once you make the decision to read this book, just make sure you have plenty of time set aside, because you will not want to take a break once you start reading the book. This was a thrilling romance story with lots of drama and a whodunit scenario, that will keep you at the edge of your seat from the beginning, all the way to the end. You definitely won’t go wrong with reading this book. This author is new to me and I must say it’s been very enjoyable reading her book, which has left me looking forward to reading more of her books in the future.
I received an advanced review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Marrying My Prickly Boss is a fun, clean, marriage of convenience, romantic comedy with a tinge of mystery. Brynlee and Travis made great adversaries and trade a lot of witty banter that I really enjoyed. Brynlee's house is a real money pit! Travis faces selling his home to pay for his mother's surgery. Brynlee proposes a ten year marriage to solve their money issues. It was very enjoyable watching these two put their differences aside and discover each other's strengths. I love Travis mom and the sneaky way Brynlee got her new furniture. I loved when Brynlee enlisted her sisters to solve what really happened to the money and to clear Travis' name. If you plan to read this well written book, set aside sufficient time. I was only in chapter two when I tossed the day's to-do list and just lost myself in this entertaining romance.
This is my voluntary review of a copy I was given.
I loved the characters. Brynlee and Travis' feud was started by a misunderstanding, and they actually liked each other once they stopped bickering. But each worries they like the other more and their budding relationship really is just fake.
The sisters were an interesting mix of characters, but all supportive of each other when push comes to shove. Their mom and grandma are both manipulative, but only one is cold and uncaring about it all. Travis' mom is a dream, however.
This story came with a mystery as well as the sweet romance. I loved the pacing and how it all worked out. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Fake marriage is so hard to sell convincingly in a modern world, but this story was great! The prickly relationship was also believable without being cringy. I don’t like it when people are just mean then suddenly change but these two had a realistic working relationship. I was excited to get back to the book each time life forced me away. Kissing only. Clean, contemporary romance.
