Trapped by winter. Claimed by a mountain firefighter.
I noticed Mason the moment he walked into the roadhouse.
Hard not to. He was built like the mountains surrounding Wildwood Valley—broad shoulders, powerful arms, hands that looked like they could either break you in half or hold you like you mattered. One of the new firefighters in town. The kind of man every woman noticed.
Except he didn’t notice me. Or so I thought.
For weeks, Mason came in with his crew. He talked to everyone—the bartender, the cook, the manager. Everyone except me. When I refilled his sweet tea, he couldn’t meet my eyes. When I asked for his order, he answered in single words, like speaking to me was harder than running into a burning building.
I told myself it didn’t matter. I was just the server. The small-town girl nobody really saw.
Then the snowstorm hit.
The roads closed. My car couldn’t make it up the mountain. And suddenly I was stranded in a ditch—in the cab of Mason’s truck—with nowhere to go and no way out.
That’s when everything changed.
That’s when the quiet firefighter finally told me the truth. He hadn’t been avoiding me because he wasn’t interested.
He’d been avoiding me because he was terrified of how much he wanted me.
We had one hour before his crew reached us. One hour to decide if this was real—or just the storm talking. One hour that could change everything.
Sometimes the best things happen when you’re trapped in the cold… with the one man who can keep you warm.

If you’ve ever felt invisible in a room full of people—like love is something that happens to everyone else—Gabby’s story will speak straight to your soul.
She’s the girl behind the bar at Wildwood Ridge Roadhouse. Friendly. Kind. Always serving smiles alongside sweet tea and warm plates. And night after night, she watches the local firefighters come and go—especially him. Mason. Tall, rugged, built like the mountains he protects, with hands meant for saving and a gaze she can never quite catch.
He talks to everyone but her. Not rude—just quiet. Distant. Untouchable. And Gabby does what so many of us do—fills the silence with assumptions.
He’s not interested. I’m just another waitress. Why would someone like him look my way?
But then comes the snowstorm.
Roads vanish beneath white. Tires slide. Hearts start racing for more than one reason. And suddenly it’s her and Mason, trapped together in the cab of his truck—heat rising in a space too small to hide from wants and truths.
And oh, the truth…
He didn’t ignore her because he didn’t care. He ignored her because he cared too much.
What follows is tender, intense, and melt-your-ebook hot. One hour in the storm where walls fall, confessions spill, and chemistry becomes wildfire in the dead of winter. It’s intimate, emotional, a slow-burn that turns deliciously scorching—and when rescue arrives, Mason doesn’t hide her. He claims her. Openly. Proudly. As his.

Trapped in a truck together in a snowstorm was the spark they didn’t see coming.
Gabby never expects much from the quiet firefighter who sits at her table and barely says a word. Mason is all silence and shadows, built like the mountain he came from and just as untouchable. She tells herself it doesn’t matter. He’s not looking her way anyway.
Then the storm hits. Roads close, tires fail, and suddenly Gabby’s stuck in Mason’s truck with nowhere to go. Just one hour alone, surrounded by snow and silence. But in that hour, the distance between them shifts. Cracks form. Something real starts to break through.
Mason isn’t avoiding her because he doesn’t care. He’s been struggling with how much he does. He’s not smooth, not loud, but everything he feels runs deep. And when the cold presses in, the heat they’ve both been hiding finally rises to the surface.
What starts in silence becomes something raw and unguarded. They open up. They let go. And by the time the headlights appear, it’s not just about getting pulled out of the ditch. It’s about what they’ve found while waiting.
Gabby and Mason grow into people who stop hiding and start reaching. She lets go of feeling invisible. He learns to speak what’s been buried deep. Together, they move from guarded silence to something real, built on trust, vulnerability, and the kind of love that stays.
A steamy, age gap, firefighter, mountain man, small town romance packed with shy alpha heat, virgin firsts, and snowstorm forced proximity. It’s about two people hiding what they want until the storm strips it all away, leaving nothing but truth and the need to be seen. In one hour, they find a love that anchors even after the snow melts.
The Elevator Pitch: A shy, emotionally guarded firefighter and a self-doubting small-town waitress are stranded together during a snowstorm, where silence sparks a life-changing connection built on heat, honesty, and longing. It’s a steamy, emotional, fast-burn romance about being seen, being wanted, and finding love in the most unlikely moment.
One of the best short reads I've read all year. So unbelievably good.
We're introduced to Gabby, the mfc and waitress at the Wildwood Ridge Roadhouse. She's in the middle of serving some of the local firefighters, one being Mason, the mmc. She finds him attractive and intriguing, but even though he's been at the roadhouse daily, he won't even look at her or talk beyond giving his order. She attributes this to him just disliking her.
A bad snowstorm is on the way, so Gabby's boss tells her to clock out and get going home. Gabby lives up the mountain and has an old, unreliable car, and she knows she's not gonna make it, so she tries to stick around, but it's a no-go with her boss. As she's trying to figure things out, she hears the group of firefighters razzing on Mason about a girl he likes, that he should try to talk to her. Gabby is, of course, curious who the woman is that Mason likes. She figures he's got a plethora of women after him. Just then, her boss, Kameron, asks the firefighters if any of them has a truck and can take Gabby home. They teasingly volunteer Mason, whom quietly agrees and offers Gabby a ride, if she wants. She begrudgingly accepts.
Unfortunately, as Mason is taking Gabby home, they get stuck in a ditch and have to wait for backup to come help them. It's in that time of waiting, when he can't run away, Mason admits to Gabby, after she questions why he hates her, that he wants her and gets all tongue-tied when he truly likes someone. Thing is, Gabby has a hard time believing it, thinking because they're stuck together she's just convenient, so it's up to Mason to prove his feelings are real.
This was absolutely heart-warming and the perfect read on a rainy day. Had me smiling and feeling all the feels! Can not recommend this enough!!

Grumpy Mason and his group of firefighters are new to the newly established fire station in Wildwood Valley, and they often frequent the also new-ish Roadhouse honky tonk across the road from the station. Gabby thinks he's hot, but that he hates her because he hardly talks to her and even asked her name 3 times, but she thinks, whatevs. A snowstorm is incoming and Roadhouse manager Kameron knows that Gabby can't get home in her old car, so she asks the guys for a volunteer to drive her and the guys pick Mason. But the weather is not cooperating, or maybe it IS conspiring! And Mason's truck gets stuck in a ditch. Forced to spend time together before the guys can come rescue them, they finally get to know each other and things escalate REAL fast once all the misunderstandings are cleared up.
This is the first book in the Wildwood Valley Firehouse series and what a good start to the series! I loved Mason and Gabby in this book. They were lovable, the chemistry was sizzling, and so perfect for each other - there wasn’t a single dull moment. Ms Hart has a real talent for creating fun, engaging stories and characters that are anything but boring. Each book in the series is a short story of a couple, and I'm always ALWAYS excited (more like internally squealing) to read the next book in a series! Do also look out for the prequel when you sign up for Ms Hart's mailing list (SO good and very very sweet), as well as Code Red, which is also the author's book set in the same setting as this series, but from the multi-author series Side Hustle.

The Wildwood Ridge Roadhouse has only been open not even a year yet. Gabby is one of the waitresses, and she is bringing a bunch of sweet tea, and other drinks to the table that is full of the new firefighters that had been coming in for a week. She was a little miffed that the one that she thought was hot, didn’t seem to be into her and seemed to not like her because he was quiet and needed to be reminded of her name that first day that they met. She was the only server on shift and there was a storm coming. She was worried that her old sedan wouldn’t make it up the mountain in the blizzard. Especially, since the firefighters were the only people there and the firehouse, was across the street. Elsa is the bartender, and Kameron the manager. Kam tells Gabby to go home, and they watch as the guys tease Mason. Kam asks the guys if someone would take Gabby home. Conner nominates Mason. However, even his truck wasn’t able to make and they get stuck in a ditch during the storm and have to wait for the rest of the guys to come and get them. Finally, Gabby can’t stand it and they talk. Since Mason is pretty much stuck there, he is forced to face his feelings for her. I found his shyness to be cute, he was also a bit of a chicken and that is why the guys were razzing him. Poor Gabby is shocked. Mason is upset that she thought that he hated her. They talk a lot and things progress, finally. lol. The book is fun, funny, sweet, romantic, steamy and cute. I loved it. I can’t wait to see who falls next.

Gabby is a server at the Wildwood Ridge Roadhouse. She's noticed the new fireman, Mason, but he seems to have zero interest in her. Oh well, there's always her dreams...
Tonight she has bigger problems. She's the only server tonight, and a storm is predicted to hit the area within an hour. She knows her twelve-year-old car won't be able to make it up the mountain with its bald tires.
When a co-worker mentions to the firemen that Gabby needs a ride home, they state that Mason has a big truck with four-wheel drive and he'd be happy to give her a ride home. Their conversation is almost non-existent until the truck slides off the road into a ditch. Mason radios the firemen for help, but they claim it will be an hour or more until they can arrive to help. Gabby asks Mason to tell her something he's never told anyone else before. At last a real conversation!
Mason hadn't spoken much to Gabby because, contrary to what she thought, he was too interested in her. So interested that he became tongue-tied when he was near her. Interested enough that he drank sweetened iced tea despite hating it because that's what she always poured for him. But now the floodgates have opened. What will happen next?

Snowed In, Soft-Hearted, and Surprisingly Sweet!!!
This was a cozy, one-sitting read that hit exactly the mood it promised. Mountain Man’s Winter Beauty leans hard into small-town winter vibes—snowed-in roads, a quiet roadhouse, and a firefighter who says very little but feels a lot. Mason isn’t loud or flashy; he’s shy, reserved, and clearly out of his depth when it comes to Gabby, which made him feel refreshingly different from the usual alpha types.
Gabby’s perspective really worked for me. She’s observant, self-doubting, and achingly relatable in the way she assumes she’s invisible—until circumstances force both of them to stop hiding. The snowstorm setup felt natural, not gimmicky, and the forced proximity gave their connection room to breathe, even within a short novella.
What I appreciated most was the contrast: Mason’s calm strength paired with his nervous restraint, and Gabby’s quiet confidence once she realizes she’s truly wanted. It’s fast, yes—but intentionally so—and wrapped in warmth, protection, and that “just right for each other” feeling.
If you enjoy short, steamy winter romances with a gentle-but-powerful hero, small-town charm, and a satisfying HEA, this is a great start to the Wildwood Valley Firehouse series.

We are back in Wildwood Valley with a new series—the Wildwood Valley Firehouse series—kicking off with the first book, “Mountain Man’s Winter Beauty.” Gabby and Mason's instant love story is short, fun, and sweet, making it easy to read in an hour. Featuring a great age gap, a protective alpha male, minimal drama, an instant connection, and plenty of steamy moments, it all leads to an HEA.
Gabby has been supporting Mason's crew for weeks, and when a snowstorm arrives faster than predicted, Mason realizes Gabby plans to drive home in her car. He decides to take her home in his truck, but they end up sliding into a ditch. While waiting for his crew to rescue them, Gabby and Mason get to know each other better, and the chemistry heats up. Gabby learns that Mason, despite being shy, feels she is meant to be his forever.
I can’t wait to see where this new series goes and to meet all the new firefighters and the women who will capture their hearts!

Their Zero to Hundred Love Connection - Gabby felt a pull towards Mason from the moment she laid eyes on him, but his grumpy attitude made her believe he wasn’t interested in her. Mason was usually able to flirt a storm, but he always got tongue tied every time he was around Gabby. However, Mother Nature presented them with a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other, which led to them engaging in an unplanned mind blowing encounter.
Unfortunately, Gabby and Mason were interrupted by his work mates, which made him communicate his intentions to ensure everyone knew she was his. Luckily, the dynamics of Gabby and Mason’s relationship changed, as they embarked on their happily ever after. This feel-good romance story pulled me in right from the very beginning and kept me eagerly turning every page until I finished reading the book. I encourage every avid romance reader to give this heartwarming and swoon-worthy book a chance.

This firefighter mountain man romance fully embraces being over the top and insta-love—and honestly, that part works really well. The chemistry is immediate, the emotions run high, and if you enjoy fast-moving, intense romances, this delivers exactly that. It’s cozy, dramatic, and fun in all the right ways. What held it back from being a five-star read for me were a couple of completely unnecessary tropes. The combination of a much older man and a virgin heroine didn’t add anything meaningful to the story or the relationship. The romance would have worked just as well—if not better—without them. They felt more like boxes being ticked than elements that actually served the plot or character development. That’s a bit of a shame, because without those tropes, this could have been a truly lovely, near-perfect romance. As it is, it’s still a very enjoyable read and a solid four stars—just weighed down by choices that weren’t needed.

I could not put this down. Mason, one of the new fire fighters in town that come into the Roadhouse almost every day and Gabby, the Roadhouse server who always has a smile on her face, remembers orders without writing them down and has this way of making everyone feel seen. Mason has spent a lot of time in the Roadhouse since coming to town and he isn't there for the food or the sweet tea, he keeps coming back for Gabby, he hasn't said more than a few words to her and won't look at her, so she believes that he hates her. Gabby doesn't mind serving Mason and his firefighter buddies, but she has had a thing for the broody firefighter Mason since he first came in, even though he orders in clipped sentences, and refuses to make eye contact. I loved how the entire book pretty much took place either in a ditch or in the Roadhouse. This is a great short read for when you don't have a lot of time to spare but need something to take your mind off the stresses in your life.

First in a new series Wildwood Valley Firefighters. Great start to what I am thinking is going to be one amazing series. This is a quick read but a steamy enjoyable read. Gabby works at the local bar where the firefighters go to hang out. One certain firefighter Mason wont talk to her let alone look at her and she doesnt understand why. But one snow storm and getting struck in the ditch when he takes her home changes everything. He opens up and reveals everything he couldnt say. But will Gabby believe him? If you like a book about a protective alpha male, a small town girl who never felt seen, has minimal drama and instant connection between the main characters with plenty of steamy moments. One click this amazing book.

This isn’t so much a “Mountain Man” romance as it is an “Everyday Heroes” romance. Mason, the hero is a fireman. The mountain is only involved because he is driving Gabby (heroine) to her home up the mountain. So. Anyway, Gabby is a really nice person, but Mason is what makes this book interesting. He is absolutely tongue-tied around Gabby, to the point where he is too shy to talk to her. But when he finally opens up, he’s amazing. I’m not going to go into what makes him open up because it’s a major plot point. But Mason is very likable once he opens his mouth. Book is SAFE. Heat is EXPLICIT, featuring a VIRGIN HEROINE. TRIGGERS - I didn’t find significant triggers. YMMV. TROPES include Secret Crush, Firemen Are Hot, Forced Proximity, Sweet Tea for Two.

Gabby isn’t sure what she has done to upset Mason but everyone he comes into the restaurant where she works he won’t look at her and hardly says anything to her at all. When a snowstorm is about to hit his friends offer to have him drive her home as she won’t be able to make the trek in her vehicle.
Every time that Mason sees Gabby he doesn’t know what to say and isn’t sure what to do about it. When his friends offer him to drive her home maybe this will be their chance especially when they find themselves stranded on the side of the road while they wait to be rescued.
Gabby and Mason have feelings for each other, but neither is confident enough to approach the other about it. Some forced proximity allows them to finally have a heart to heart and realize what they truly mean to each other.
-A cozy, swoony small-town romance that delivers instant attraction, soft vulnerability, and the deeply satisfying feeling of being truly chosen. I received a free copy and a, voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Gabby, a kind-hearted waitress, feels invisible to Mason, the shy yet protective firefighter, until a sudden snowstorm strands them together and forces long-suppressed feelings into the open. Mason’s quiet longing, alpha protectiveness, and heartfelt confession pair perfectly with Gabby’s warmth, creating steamy chemistry and lots of emotion.
Short, sweet, and irresistibly intimate, this fast-paced novella is a wonderful start to the Wildwood Valley Firehouse series. I look forward to future stories in this series.
Mountain Man's Winter Beauty as a short steamy instalove romance is ideal for a breaktime read. It is a well written sweet, small town, forced proximity, firefighter based story with both characters, Mason and Gabby, engaging. There was a definite feel good factor that had me hooked quickly especially with Mason as a shy quiet alpha and Gabby's insecurities as a small town invisible nobody, but with the snowstorm, everything changes. Their chemistry sizzles and Gabby takes the positive lead which then leads to Mason's protectiveness kicking in and the home run towards a satisfying HEA. As the first title in a new series, I look forward to reading more.

Gabby works at the Roadhouse and she had noticed Mason the first week of his arrival as the new firefighter in town. He's big and gorgeous. Mason seems to ignore her for weeks. She needs a ride home since her tires won't get up her the mountain in the approaching blizzard. The firefighters are going onto a 24-hour shift during the storm.Gabby's boss tells firefighters that she has an employee needing a ride home now before the storm gets worse! Mason has big 4-wheel-drive truck which the other fire fighters volunteer him laughing. What do they know that is funny? What happens as they drive up the mountain? Time maybe to talk and get to know each other? Good or bad?.

Mason and his firefighter crew have been coming to the Wildwood Ridge Roadhouse for a week. He talks to everyone but Gabby and she wonders why he never looks at her or talk to her. When the storm begins earlier than expected, Gabby needs a ride home and Mason is volunteered. When his truck gets stuck, they are stranded there until the crew can come get them. When Gabby strikes up a conversation, everything changes. He finally breaks down and tells her what the issue is. Will Gabby believe him or think this is just a con? Very entertaining story that will not disappoint. Highly recommend. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mason often comes into the roadhouse with the firehouse buddies, always listening to their jokes. But he's shy and prefers to keep to himself. He tries not to let the guys bother him too much, but when he's asked to help out one of the waitresses during a storm, his true nature is about to come to light. Gabby is adorable and a little sassy. She won't tolerate anyone's crap, and I loved that. She has a small crush on Mason, but he never even looks her way. That is, until a snowstorm forces them to stay in one place. When a drift hits, these two are stuck together. What will they do? Heat, passion, and an enclosed truck. Find out in this hot and steamy read.
Whoop whoop!! So excited about the start of the new series! This time the Wildwood Ridge Firefighters are here to heat up a lucky local lady and Gabby’s luck changes when Mason finally unsticks his tongue while driving her home during a snowstorm. I am such a sucker for a man who secretly yearns for his woman and soon the windows aren’t the only thing steamy 🥰 One fine start to a new series with plenty of fireworks 🎆.

New series set in the mountain town of Wildwood Valley. Mason is one of the new firefighters in Wildwood Valley. Whenever he enters the Roadhouse restaurant he is tongue tied to speak to the beautiful waitress. Gabby doesn’t know what’s wrong with her that the new firefighter, Mason, won’t hold a conversation with her. Until a snowstorm and a slip into a ditch forces Mason to finally open up. Great beginning.

A short read that is sweet and entertaining. Gabby works at the diner and has been serving the firefighters for a week. They all laugh and joked with her except Mason, who won’t even look her in the eye. She assumes he isn’t interested. When her boss arranges for someone to take her home because of a snow storm, it’s Mason who gives her a ride. They end up sliding into a ditch and stranded for an hour before his team can rescue them. Cute story, with some unexpected heat.

Gabby thinks she is invisible, that love isn’t for her. She has watched everyone falling in love and the person she wants, Mason doesn’t care about her at all. Then she finds out that she had everything wrong. This book really resonates with anyone who ever felt like they were existing in the peripheral. I loved how Mason finally showed Gabby how much she meant to him. This is a great heartfelt read. It pulls you in and melts you heart.

Firefighter romance. Gabby is a young woman working as a waitress in her small hometown. Recently, new firefighters have arrived in town and are taking their break at the Wildwood Ridge Roadhouse, where she met Mason. Aside from having fun with his friends, he hasn't noticed her. But when a storm hits, he offers to take her back up the mountain, even if it means getting snowed in. Will Gabby and Mason have a beautiful love story….

Mountain Man's Winter Beauty is book one of the Wildwood Valley Firehouse Series.
I absolutely loved this story between Gabby and Mason. Gabby is interested in Mason, but he doesn't talk to her or even really acknowledge her. This leads her to believe he is uninterested, but he is really just shy and can't string a sentence together when he is around her. I loved how they got put together and this forced him to finally confess his feelings for her. This was a super cute read.
Gabby has been looking at the hot firefighter for a week but he won’t even look at her. Mason keeps his head down and just grunts answers at her. When a snow storm comes and Gabby needs help getting home his buddies volunteer Mason. They run off the road and Gabby confronts him on why he hates her. He is able to finally verbalize how much he likes her. They have an hour to get close and when his co-workers show up he quickly stops any teasing of his GF. When he moves he moves quickly.
Omg, this novella was so sweet and cute. I absolutely adored Mason in this one. I loved that he’s this house of a firefighter, but he’s so quiet and sweet. And Gabby, what a doll. She likes Mason but can’t figure out why he doesn’t like her. It isn’t until he’s driving her home in a snowstorm and they get stuck in a ditch, does he reveal his feelings. This was such an awwww moment. I loved every minute of this novella.
