A human pet, a rising alien officer, and a love dangerous enough to topple worlds.
Mac never expected to lose his heart to the alien who stole his freedom. Once an overlooked young man from Earth, he has become the fiercely protected—and fiercely adored—pet of navigator Narith. What began as captivity has transformed into a devotion Mac can’t imagine leaving behind.
But Narith’s home world hides old resentments and vicious political traps. A family tragedy forces him to return, dragging Mac into a labyrinth of caste expectations, predatory rivals, and a powerful male determined to claim what isn’t his. Narith tries to bury his feelings beneath duty, yet jealousy flares hotter than any star when another male touches Mac.
As tension erupts and danger closes in, Mac and Narith must decide who they truly are to each other—master and pet, or something far more fragile…and far more worth fighting for. Their bond may be the only thing that saves them, or the weakness that destroys them both.

"Sci-Fi Romances have never been my thing but Samantha Cayto does it just right for me! If you love M/M with a lot of heat and some shades of dark, I recommend you grab a copy and submerge yourself into the world she created!" "Oh my God I loved this book so much. I've been waiting for Stuart's story since book one and I sobbed through most of this. It ended way too soon. I want more of Mac and Narith!!"
✨ Tropes You’ll • Alien–human romance • Master/pet devotion • Forbidden attachment • Jealousy and rivalry • Social hierarchy tension • Hurt/comfort bonds • Forced proximity • Hostile home-world politics
Samantha Cayto is a Boston-area native who practices as a business lawyer by day while writing erotic romance at night—the steamier the better. She likes to push the envelope when it comes to writing about passion and is delighted other women agree that guy-on-guy sex is the hottest ever.
She lives a typical suburban life with her husband, three kids and four dogs. Her children don’t understand why they can’t read what she writes, but her husband is always willing to lend her a hand—and anything else—when she needs to choreograph a scene.
She is a member of the Romance Writers of America and the New England Chapter and credits RWA, NEC and the wonderful friends she’s made there with helping her become a published author.
Another episode of non-con smut with a surprisingly enticing plot. Also added to the evidence that I shouldn’t have skipped book 1.
Anyway. My rating might not show it but I really enjoyed myself a lot reading this book. Sometimes tho, the 2015 origin is showing.
For example: these particular aliens live in a matriarchal society. Not everything is perfect but it is refreshing to read. Why the author chose to question the system through various (not particularly important) males in these books I don’t understand. I’m sure she could’ve come up with other trouble for the plot than misogynistic males plotting against female leadership.
Oh, and there she goes with the word rod again too.
