Faith and Dallas: A Small Town Single Dad Cowboy Romance

Rate this book
She ran from her wedding.
Now she’s standing on my porch…still in the damn dress.

Faith Ross always did have a wild streak, but seeing her stumble out of a wrecked truck on Christmas Eve—lace torn, eyes glassy with panic—is something I’ll never forget.

Six years ago, she left Buckhorn behind.
Left the almost-something we never named under the old apple tree.

Now she’s here, shivering in the snow, saying she couldn’t marry the man her father chose.
Saying she didn’t know where else to go.

I should keep my distance.
I’ve worked hard to build a peaceful life for my little girl since her mama passed.
But Faith? She’s sunshine and trouble wrapped in a soft smile that still punches the air out of my lungs.

One night turns into Christmas morning… then snowed-in days, shared memories, and the kind of quiet moments that make a man dangerous with hope.

And when she holds my daughter—gentle, patient, seeing her the way I do?
My heart does something I swore it was done doing.

I thought I’d buried those old feelings.
But Faith isn’t the girl I lost.
She’s the woman standing in my kitchen, like I built the place around her.

Christmas in Buckhorn is about finding your way home…
But letting her stay might cost me everything.
Letting her go again?
Might break me for good.

Faith and Dallas is a standalone billionaire western romance in the “Buckhorn Ranch” series. Get ready for small-town holiday charm, a protective single dad cowboy, and a runaway bride returning home. No cheating or cliffhangers. And a cowboy-kissin’ happily-ever-after.

Dallas and Faith

Tropes:
* Small town
* Ranch setting
* Widower single dad
* Second chance
* Runaway bride
* Found family
* Snowed-in
* Forced proximity
* ‘The one that got away’

Faith and Dallas were childhood best friends when she left their small town.
She’s spent the last however many years working to impress her father… the right job, the right friends, the right partner…
When she’s due to walk down the aisle, you can feel her panic, confusion, misery and determination. When she runs… well.. the freedom…

Enter Dallas… childhood best friend, previous ‘maybe’, single father and widower. When he comes across Faith, he’s protective, but standoffish, confused and desperate to maintain distance.

But his daughter Lila… Faith’s reaction to finding out he had been married and had a daughter was visceral. She was shocked, but seemed to bon well with Lila straight away. It was sweet.

I loved Jet, her other bestie. She was amazing, sweet, and such a good person.

Her father was horrible, absolutely horrible.
The ex was a piece of work… basically, her father, but 30 years younger.

The only thing I struggled with was the narrative around how she left…

“She didn’t come back. Not really. Holidays, a few days here and there. Always with one foot out the door and her eyes on the city, on the life he picked for her. I tried to stay her friend, tried to be happy for her “opportunities,” tried not to notice that every time she came home, she seemed a little smaller around the edges.
And then she stopped coming much at all. Phone calls got shorter. Texts got farther apart. Somewhere along the line, I figured out I could either sit in that waiting or pull my head out of my ass and move on.
So I did.”

My read is that he put the onus on the connection on her. Did he visit her, contact her, or do anything… because it sound like he did nothing, got angry, blamed her and found another person instead.
And now, because his wife died, he won’t let her in.
Then, when the worst happens, he stays in town, whinges, and lets her live in her nightmare… Even though Faith willingly left the first time, at no point did Dallas actually initiate anything to go after her…
This is a hard one for me to believe in.

This was an emotional story, full of ‘what-if’s’ and regrets, introspection, ‘will they, won’t they’, and a frustrating MMC who frustrated me with his ‘woe is me’ attitude before he finally pulled his head out of his a-z.

The story was good. The pacing was good.
But the actual romance? Nah… the MMC can GTFOH, even though I am glad that Faith finally came full circle and found her family.

Faith is trapped, forced into a corporate marriage arranged by her controlling father. Unable to go through with the sham wedding, she flees back to her small hometown and her mother, desperate to reclaim her identity.

Her escape leads to a snowy Christmas Eve accident when she slides off the road—right near the ranch of Dallas McCoy, her high school sweetheart. Dallas, now a single dad with a guarded heart after losing his wife, rescues her and takes her home to his family.

Faith can't trust men, and Dallas is unwilling to risk love again. As their undeniable attraction rekindles old emotions, can these two broken souls learn to trust and live again?

This standalone is an emotional, small-town, second-chance romance, full of holiday warmth and lingering regret. Faith’s journey home is raw and deeply relatable, while Dallas is portrayed as a protective, frustratingly human cowboy. With found family, a single-dad trope, and unresolved tension, the story delivers heartfelt Western vibes.

Second chance ranch romance

This is another well written, entertaining story by Summer James. With drama, a single dad, second chances, great chemistry, tension, romance and love.

Controlled by her father, Faith is trapped and being forced into a marriage for business. But she can't bring herself to go through with it and runs back to her mum and the town she'd grown up in. But when she has an accident in the snow it's by the ranch belonging to her high school romance.

Finding her in the snow Dallas takes her back home where they end up being snowed in over Christmas. But he's now a single dad guarding his heart after he'd lost his wife. With Faith not trusting men and Dallas wary of risking his heart this is a slow build second chance romance as their attraction renews feelings they both thought were gone.

Faith fights for her freedom.

Faith is being beaten down by her father and who he picked to be her husband. Her wedding is more of a corporate gala. She can’t go through with this farce so she runs. She runs back to her mother in her small hometown to hide. She wants to become herself again.

It’s a snowy Christmas Eve, and Faith loses control and slides off the road. Where? Near the ranch of Dallas McCoy, her high school flame. He rescues her and brings her back to his family’s home.

He’s a single dad who hardened his heart when he lost his wife. She can’t trust any man now. As their attraction builds, stirring up old feelings, can they learn to trust again and learn to live again?

Reunited for Good

Summer James can really bring the heartache and mend it after, but this story was on a whole other level. Faith and Dallas were almost more than friends, but she left and he didn't go after her. Both ended up with other people, but circumstances reunite them at a time when they can be something special. It was a wonderfully written plot that I could not get enough of as it had me feeling all kinds of emotions.

Faith is a runaway bride who runs back to Buckthorn and straight into Dallas' arms. This is a great story of a girl who thought the big city held all her dreams and goals and finds out that life is better in her small town and her best friend. Great continuation of a series but can be read independently.

Loved Faith and Dallas! Dallas’s love, kindness, patience, caring personality was so beautiful. The biggest thing is Faith finally choosing herself. Escaping the trap of her abusive/controlling father & fiancé. Reading the growth of her character and the strength she had was so empowering.

A good story with these two coming back together after she leaves the big city and her father's choices for her, including the groom she ran from. She finally choice for herself and Dallas was it all along. But now he has a daughter and will need to navigate carefully so she’s not hurt.
