🎄 A snowy inn. A stubborn architect. A Bennet determined to outstubborn him. After a soul sucking corporate job, Lucy Bennet escapes back to Maple Ridge to help her family reopen the long abandoned Snowdrop Inn. She expects peeling wallpaper, loose floorboards, and a steady supply of cinnamon buns from her sister Jane. Lucy didn't expect to see her former boss, Dexter Fitzwilliam, standing in the middle of the renovation site looking far too calm for a man dodging falling ceilings.
After a slew of unexceptional replacements, Dex is determined to offer Lucy her job back. Lucy is just as determined not to take him up on his offer of a higher salary. He should be leaving to go back to the city after her rejection, however, Dex just won't go away.
As holiday preparations turn into mild chaos thanks to Lucy's dramatic sister Lydia, enthusiastic Kitty, and a mother with a clipboard. Lucy and Dex keep finding reasons to bump into each other. Some are practical. Some are… not.
But when an old friend shows up, hurt mixes with new sparks, Lucy must decide whether she’s rebuilding only the inn… or her heart as well.
Perfect for readers who • small-town charm • cozy winter romance • slow-burn tension • Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice retellings • sweet heat and full-heart happily ever afters
Snowflakes & Sweethearts is Book One in the Snowdrop Inn Romance Series.
Can a conservative (more or less rich) architect from a quiet stern home ever fit in with a noisy (and nosy) family full of daughters, a quiet father and a bossy mother? Well Dex is about to find out. After following his secretary, the one who quit her job and went home to help her family renovate and run a B&B, to explain to her why she needed to come back to the city and work for him, he discovered that family life and crazy projects just might be what he needs. Add in a sidekick partner who is very interested in the older sister and his sister who has eyes on Dex, a grouchy inspector, unexpected guests, and a blizzard, and it makes for a great story.
Snowflakes & Sweethearts is a cozy, heartwarming romance that captures the magic of small town life and second chances. The Snowdrop Inn feels like a character of its own, full of charm and promise. Lucy is relatable, determined, and easy to root for, while Dex’s calm persistence adds a wonderful slow burn tension to their relationship. The Pride and Prejudice inspired dynamic is handled beautifully, with witty moments and genuine emotional growth. The supporting cast adds humor and warmth without overpowering the main story. This book feels like a comforting winter escape and is a delightful start to the Snowdrop Inn series.
I wish this book could've been more obvious that it was Pride & Prejudice inspired retelling... I don't care for lazy writing like this. There's a reason that modernized classics are an oxymoron. I won't be continuing this series.
