Frank Adharc has just been hired to find the daughter of a missing industrialist. Fortunately, as an anthropomorphic triceratops, he's the perfect person to enter the world of dinosaurs the girl has gotten mixed up in; and begins an odyssey that brings him in the midsts of gangster utahraptors, grieving stegosaurs, the friendly but evasive mother of the girl whose not sharing everything and a certain dilophosaurus hitwoman whose team of war veterans are looking to stop Frank's investigation fast.
Life in the year 2047 can be pretty hectic, the world is still recovering from World War III that has left Eastern Europe shook up, and the returning veterans, many of which volunteered for the process to be transformed into dinosaur soldiers, must learn to navigate civilian life again. Frank, a former marine heavy gunner, has turned his combat and investigative skills from the war to good use, making his way as a private eye in Houston and dealing with all the troubles that brings. Hired by a wealthy land developer to find his missing daughter, his latest case brings him in the orbit of a disappeared young political firebrand in the dinosaur community, an opportunistic fellow triceratops bounty hunter and an ambitious detective hoping to ride Frank's case to further his own career.
He has to return the girl, dodge attempts on his life, avoid getting arrested and find out how a new dinosaur-friendly subdivision being built outside town ties into all of this. If Jake Gittes from "Chinatown" had been turned into a dinosaur, his adventures might be something like Frank's.
