Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollinsUK/One More Chapter for an early ebook version of this book by S. R. Masters. It was published in the UK on December 4, 2025, and will be available in North America in April 2026. This was a dark, clever, original premise that provided a tension-filled, suspenseful storyline.

I was only on a rollercoaster once years ago and found it more chilling than thrilling, and resolved never to try again. When I saw its scary description, I was anxious to read it from the safety of my couch. This was a character-driven, unsettling revenge thriller.

Cady is a YouTube influencer who films her visits to various theme parks for her many followers. A new theme park is being developed in a desert region of the Middle East. It is not ready to open yet, but its main attraction, Hysteria, the highest roller coaster in the world, has been completed. Cady is excited to be invited by an old friend, Dansen (Danny), to ride Hysteria and film the adventure before the theme park opens. It appears that Danny has an ulterior motive for the invitations. He had worked in building Hysteria. When she arrives at the site, she is surprised to learn that three friends from the University have also been invited to experience the first ride. They all hold positions in the arts, so word of their activities will encourage their followers to visit the park when it opens.

Once the four are on the roller coaster, they become trapped 650 feet above ground when the ride shuts down. They see the workers leaving the park, which is now deserted. They must endure the desert heat with no water or phones to call for help. This is the group's worst nightmare. All are frightened and see no way out. The story slows down, becoming more emotional than action-packed. The ordeal is told from different points of view, and the story begins to drag as they are forced to examine their roles in a past event from their university years. It becomes clear that they are stranded on top of the roller coaster in an act of revenge. They must deal with issues of trust, secrets and resentments, with group dynamics central to the plot.
Can they survive the sun's heat without water, and how can they possibly escape their plight?

Recommended to readers who enjoy intriguing characters, group relations, and a dangerous, suspenseful situation in this revenge thriller.
