When deep-seated morality and fear of damnation clashes with bone-deep yearning and unquenchable desire to find love within the darkness, you find yourself soaked in a century-long tale of love and longing between a vampire and his human.
Meet Warren Hayes and Levette Fortier, two men in a time where love was dictated upon by society. Set in the heart of New Orleans, Warren and Levette battle how they feel about each other and what it means for their damnation. Warren struggles with the idea of being cursed for eternity, meanwhile Levette cares little for salvation if it means being with Warren.
One was damned to walk this earth alone, and the other was damned to die alone, until their paths collided.
Born in a small town in Scotland, Billie swapped the rain and cold for the too-warm heat of Texas. She's always been a writer but turned her passion into a career in 2020, choosing to show the world her love of tragic, gothic love stories.
When she's not writing, you can find Billie busy with mom life, watching K-dramas and re-watching her favorite shows, or caught up in a book she can't put down.
Billie loves to read as well as write, saying that the vampire novels she obsessed over as a teenager deeply impacted her love of the craft.
this is a story full of self discovery, yearning, betrayal, toxicity, hatred and so much love it’s destructive. at times it was hard to root for these characters because of their actions, but you can feel the love they have for each other trying to crawl out of the pages.
levy and war are a constant battle between heart and mind and i felt every bit of their frustration ten fold. the way this story was written throughout hundreds of years was beautiful and couldn’t have been told any other way. their banter and bickering with each other had me smiling even when i could feel another shoe drop coming (and there were plenty)
came for levy and war, stayed for lena and ria 😭 i can’t wait for book two, to hopefully learn more of that story and see them get a happy ending.
i wish we had gotten more explanation/closure on a few things, there was some information i felt was missing and the ending felt a bit rushed, but i had so much fun with these characters and i’m hopeful for more with book 2!
thank you so much to the author for reaching out and offering me an advanced copy 🖤
Review of advanced reader copy received from author. I loved this book! I was enthralled from beginning to end, and truly felt every emotion on this roller coaster. Captivating, addicting, dark, INCREDIBLE!🖤 Vampire romance in New Orleans?! Perfect, sign me up!🧛🏻
Thank you so much to the author for the arc. This review is completely honest and all opinions are my own.
I was very excited to read this book! Southern gothic is one of my all time favorite genres, and if you know me you know I love vampires. Sadly, this book was just not for me. I debated DNF’ing this book numerous times but kept going hoping it would get better but unfortunately it did not. It almost got worse. Also, it was not southern gothic is the slightest which was disappointing. The storytelling was a bit weak and confusing. Honestly, I liked the very very beginning (~20%) and I liked Warren’s later diary entries, but that’s about it. Without being overly negative or critical, these are the things that ultimately made this book not for me.
-the lack of chemistry between the MCs. I mean, unless you consider the chemistry to be ammonia and bleach. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love a good toxic love story. But usually those have some spark between the characters. The entire plot followed this formula: Warren and Levette are in the Throes of Passion. Levette does something Wrong (bloodletting, murdering someone, turning Warren, not asking permission to save Warren’s life, etc.). Warren gets pissed off and runs away for years and years. Levette demands forgiveness because they are In Love. Someone gets their throat torn out. Warren caves. Rinse. Repeat. I could not find it in me to like these two together. I feel like people tend to overlook toxic, abusive “romances” when it’s MM. Did this even get a sensitivity read? If not, it desperately needed one. -the plot. Or…the lack of a plot. I don’t know. I guess when I read anything horror adjacent like gothic fiction I want there to be some sort of…antagonist? I don’t know who the antagonist here is. The church? The Authority? Levette? I’d say Levette honestly. That man is pure toxicity. Chernobyl is jealous of the lethal levels of toxic-ness he radiates. The only time I was interested was (SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS) when Warren went on his world tour (END SPOILERS END SPOILERS END SPOILERS). It felt like the author was just throwing darts at a giant map of every fantasy trope and creature ever and then adding whatever those darts landed on into the book with no rhyme or reason. At around the 70% mark time starts skipping around and speeding up like the stand Made In Heaven was at work. Information and disjointed plot lines were thrown at us with no explanation or anything. It felt sloppy and choppy and rushed. -the lack of research. Okay. I have never been to New Orleans. But I know US history, I know what the world (and the south) was like during the late 1800s, and I know that this book did not feel historically accurate in the slightest. If I didn’t read the dates at the beginning of each chapter, I’d honestly think this book took place in the 1920s at the EARLIEST. It just felt like the 1800s date was slapped on there last minute. Again, I also feel like this could have used a sensitivity reader, especially for the constant mentions of witchcraft and “voodoo” throughout. Then again, the Victorian era/the 18–1900s has always been a special interest of mine, especially how queer people lived. This really just applies to the first 70% of the story, as the rest is just modern.
There were so many little plot lines that were confusing, too, and I wish they had been expanded on. -what exactly is the Authority? And why are they suddenly only important once the 20th century hits? -what is Ria? I wish the whole Lena x Ria thing got more time, too. -who was the witch who cursed them? And…like…huh? What was the whole point of that? It never got resolved.
Also, this…kinda felt like an Interview With A Vampire fanfiction. You canNOT tell me Levette and Lestat are different LMAO.
All in all, I’m honored the author chose me as an ARC reader. This book was not for me, but if you like religious trauma and gay vampires, you might like this!
Thank you, Billie James for this book! There are some years since I had the pleasure to dig into a world so similar to Anne Rice's, to that dark and enthralling New Orleans! Even the two characters, Levette Fortier and Warren Hayes remind me of Lestat and Louis, but they are similar only in the attraction between them. Levette is absolutely delightful, a true gentleman that dazzle and enthrall both women and men. He is a true vampire, used to his nature but followed deep inside by his crimes. He falls deeply and dangerously for Warren, a poor bartender in a bar, around 1875. Warren, a young man tormented by his "deviance", due to his upbringing in the church. His parents want to beat his sexual tendencies out of him, and his life is a perpetual fight between himself and his own beliefs in his immortal soul and judgment from God. His life is so sad and touches deeply! Levette loves Warren and, eventually, Warren lets himself be loved, but theis whole story is a struggle... I loved the vibe of this book, the story and the feeling it let me with. The words of love whispered between them are a delight and express such deep feelings that border obsession. For me, Levette and Warren would fit nicely in Lestat's savage garden!
I have received this book as ARC from the author and I am leaving this review voluntarily! Thank you, Billie James, for this dark book, is a perfect love/obsession one and reminded me nicely of Anne Rice's supernatural New Orleans. 🖤
Advanced Reader Copy I had the chance to read an ARC of Immortally Yours by Billie James and honestly… this one lives in that messy, yearning, slightly toxic gothic romance space that I am loving!
This is not a soft love story. It’s heavy, it’s complicated, and it leans all the way into that “love vs. damnation” tension. You’ve got Warren, who is very much battling morality, eternity, and what it means to be cursed… and then Levette, who is basically like “I’ll take damnation if it means I get you.” That contrast carries the entire story, and it works.
What really stood out to me was the longevity of their relationship. This isn’t insta-love or even just one lifetime of angst… it stretches across decades, and you feel every shift, every fracture, every moment where they almost choose each other and then don’t. It’s very much a push-and-pull dynamic where you’re rooting for them, but also side-eyeing them a little because… choices were made.
The writing has that very classic gothic feel moody, emotional, a little dramatic in the best way and the New Orleans setting adds to that dark, atmospheric vibe. You can tell the author loves tragic romance, because this story leans into it unapologetically.
This book put me throughhh it like full emotional whiplash. one minute melting the next furious but still here for their toxic mess. hooked from the start, i never stood a chance.
We follow warren and levette in historical new orleans. A time where being together was basically a ☠️ sentence. Warren is a sweet human holding onto his faith. Levette is a cold vampire suddenly faced with feelings. The dynamic is everythinggg. levette's like i'll take eternal damnation if it means i get you and warren is having a full crisis its a whole vibe.
this isn't a quick situationship, it stretches across decades, different time periods. You feel every shift, every fracture, every almost. the letters made the yearning even more intense. Its a messy push and pull where you're rooting for them but also side eyeing them bc choices were made.
The writing is moody, gothic which is sooo perf for new orleans. It leans all the way into that love vs. damnation tension. Its this heavy, complicated, heartbreaking story that I am totally here for.
❤️🔥 MM romance 🧛♂️ Vampire x Human 🌙 Southern Gothic Romance ⛪ Religious Trauma 📜 Time Jumps & Letters 💀 Toxic Yearning 📍 New Orleans Setting 📚 Found Family
Immortally Yours by Billie James is an MM dark romance that completely surprised me with its emotional depth and character work. The story follows Warren, a human whose violent and traumatic upbringing has shaped him in painful ways, yet he still manages to hold onto his faith and kindness. Opposite him is Levette, a cold and ruthless vampire who has spent centuries untouched by love or genuine connection.
Their dynamic is intense, heartbreaking, and beautifully written. Warren’s purity and selflessness made me want to shake him at times — he gives so much without believing he deserves anything in return. Levette’s journey is equally compelling as he confronts emotions he’s never allowed himself to feel.
The book explores themes of self‑love, healing, accountability, and the long, messy process of learning to accept oneself. It’s emotional in all the right ways: there are moments of humor, rage, tenderness, and devastation, and each one feels purposeful.
If you enjoy dark romance with vampires, angst, slow‑burn longing, and a story that spans decades (with letters!), this is a standout read. It’s a powerful, beautifully crafted book that will stay with me for a long time.
Immortally Yours is such a well written story! Billie James makes you think deeper than the shallows with her soulful storytelling. I.Y. Follows two men in an harsh era where being attracted to anyone of the same gender meant you were an abomination—a death sentence in most cases. Warren—had he not been given the path this story takes him on—would have been one of those unfortunate souls. Thankfully, we meet the charming, alluring and willfully seductive vampire, Levette or Levy as Warren calls him 🥹 Omg, i absolutely LOVE him. He’s blunt, straightforward and a complete slave to Warren, the altar boy. Their story makes me think of the spiritual battle I have faced. Am I too flawed and surely damned or am I forgiven and saved? Though this book is absolutely NOT a religious story—not with those hot scenes—it still gets you right in the feels. Bone deep and in such a way that this story of a human man weighted by his mortality and the lonely vampire jaded by the church sticks with you like nothing else. Huge FIVE STARS. I love Billie and her poetic writing. I can’t wait to read more.
I was hooked from chapter one and honestly never stood a chance after that. Levy and Warren’s story completely consumed me—it’s breathtaking, brutal, raw, and so emotionally intense it almost hurts in the best way.
This book put me THROUGH it. I’m talking full emotional whiplash—one minute I was melting, the next I was furious right alongside them, and somehow still rooting for their love the entire time. The connection between them is so powerful, so messy, and so real that you don’t just read it…you feel every second of it.
Their love isn’t perfect—it’s complicated, fiery, and at times devastating—but that’s what makes it unforgettable. The kind of story that lingers in your chest long after you’ve turned the last page.
I’ve not got to ARC read for this author (until now) but I’ve read her work since she started, but this one? This one hit differently. It felt deeper, heavier, and truly like a work of art.
I’m already counting down the days until the next book because I NEED to see where their story goes. I am not okay, and I don’t even want to be.
A dark MM vampire romance full of tension, emotion, love, hate, angst, accountability, healing, acceptance & struggles with faith. I couldn’t put this book down. I was so invested in Warren & Levette’s tumultuous relationship & shed many tears! Absolutely enthralled from start to finish 🧛🏻🖤🩸
The main characters were infuriating at times but it only added to emotional depth & turmoil within the story. Their dynamic was so intense & I felt my heart breaking for them many times. Having the letters woven in added even more to the details that made this book so exquisite. I appreciated the settings, the other characters (especially Lena), the tough discussions around faith, the other supernatural beings & experiencing the courtship across different time periods. Seeing the story develop from the 19th century to now was really interesting, felt like time travelling. Thank you to Billie for the opportunity to read this ARC 🖤
“Our love is a tragic & beautiful thing, mon amour. But perhaps it comes from a place so pure that even God may spare the rod to allow us a chance at happiness.”
I think this book broke me in the most beautiful way… I have no words how to explain what i feel right now…
I don’t think Immortally Yours is like any of the vampire romance books i have read. This was beautiful, tragic but beautiful all the same ( it’s a happy ending story).
This is the kind of book which will stay in your heart even after you finished reading so long long ago… The chemistry between the main characters was brilliant. The love, longing, yearning, heartache, everything was so good that i could feel the characters emotions in me while i was reading.
There were times where i was grinning like a fool and times where i was an absolute sobbing mess, but it made me feel alive. This story makes you believe in love. I feel as though this not your usual love stories. This story is beyond that. Experiencing this kind of love and devotion is a gift or a boon.
There are not enough words to express how deeply i feel about this book.
(FYI: I’m not crying,my eyes are just sweating. Too much heat here in India)
Warren is a human turned vampire who is struggling with his religion and sexuality. Although he is going through a lot and has some outside factors going on I found his character to be so infuriating. He played the victim and blamed all of his issues on someone else. I felt he never came around to owning up to his shit and I wish he would have. I know there will be a second book so I’m hoping the makes some growth.
Levy is a bit of a wildcard. He is a vampire who falls for a human. After a weird wild day he has to save his love by making him a vampire without his permission. He then spends the next 100 or so years beating himself up over it. I think that levy got a lot of shit he didn’t deserve. I loved how he found himself and stood up for himself.
Overall this was a cool read that dove into supernatural elements I haven’t read before. I want more witches and more Lena in the next one!
Where do I begin? First off I absolutely love the tropes in this book! HumanxVampire, gothic romance, second chance, possessive lovers. Throughout the entire book you truly feel the depth of Levette’s love for Warren. His yearning is so deep and beautiful you can feel his English through the eras. I was very love hate with Warren throughout the book but you can’t hold to much against him when you hear his reasonings and the depth his religious trauma goes, you just want to hug him and tell them that their love is stronger than their objections. Regardless of what Warren struggles with you can truly feel the war raging between his heart and mind. You also can’t not fall in love with the found family in this duet, the friendship and love between everyone was so special. Levette and Warren deserve the world and I can’t wait to read the second book when it releases and hopefully see these sweet damaged vamps get their well earned HEA.
Think Interview with the Vampire but way angstier, way sexier, a whole lot more heartbreaking, and hella entertaining in that blood lust kind of way and you get this gem, which has just skyrocketed itself to the top of my favorite vampire reads list! It’s got grit, it’s got bite, it hurts, it’s love and hate and loathing and longing, it’s a whole dang saga of sin and breaking and crashing against each other and it has you completely entranced the entire way through. It’s got the characters, Levette and Warren are fantastically multi-faceted and give you the opportunity to both hate and love them, it has the drama and the complexity of politics and ancient vampires, I am all over the side characters because Lena and Ria’s story is going to make for one killer read to wrap up this duet, and it paints a vivid picture of New Orleans, how destructive faith can be, and the slippery slope that blind obsession can lead to and I am one hundred percent addicted!
I just finished Immortally Yours by Billie James and honestly… it surprised me in the best way.
This is definitely a slow burn, but not in a boring way—it builds. Like, you can feel the tension getting thicker every chapter, and by the time things finally start clicking, you’re already hooked. The pacing gives you time to actually connect with the characters instead of just throwing you straight into chaos.
If you’re curious about getting into erotic romance but don’t want something that’s immediately over-the-top, this is a really good place to start. It eases you into it. The chemistry is there early, but it simmers for a while before it fully shows itself.
It’s one of those books where you keep saying “just one more chapter” and suddenly it’s 2am. Definitely worth the read if you like tension, buildup, and a little bit of heat without it feeling forced.
Immorally Yours by Billie James is a book that can make you feel so many different emotions. I found myself enjoying the southern gothic vibe and the MM romance, but what I really enjoyed was the going through what the characters were feeling and how I began rooting for them to get it together and just be. (That made sense in my head, I hope it makes sense to you.)
This is a read that takes you down so many different facets of a relationship with the good, bad, and even the mundane that you become invested in Warren and Levette’s thoughts and their feelings that you just want the best for everyone in the book.
This is a book I would recommend reading especially if you like vampires, southern gothic, and New Orleans!
If you loved the Interview with a Vampire - you are going to fall head over heels for Immortally Yours.
I absolutely fell in love with these characters, especially because Warren is a character from the Seeds of Sorrow series. I loved getting to know him in a different light. Enter the love of his life - Levette. He is SUCH a diva but in a way that makes him whimsical yet mysterious.
The love that grows between Warren and Levette is so beautifully developed - toxic and twisted, yes. Their pining for one another is done so well that you can feel the lust and want. It was clear there was going to be a toxic stew brewing between them though.
There is SO much character growth and story progression for Warren, especially if you were a reader of Seeds of Sorrow.
I received an advanced copy from the author, and this was my first experience reading their work. From the very first page, I was completely pulled in, and saying it captivated me feels like an understatement. The writing draws you in so deeply that you lose track of everything around you, fully immersed in the story.
This book delivers everything you could want. Dark, alluring vampires are woven into a powerful and emotionally charged love story that feels timeless and unforgettable. The tension builds beautifully, the passion feels real, and the stakes keep you turning page after page.
This was nothing short of incredible, and I highly recommend it!
This book drew me in so deeply that I was fully immersed in the story. The pacing gives you time to actually connect with the characters and puts you through the emotions where you can actually feel and sit with them before being tossed to the wolves and losing sight of all the nuances. Without giving too much away...
This book includes: ✨ MM ✨ Slow Burn ✨ Vampires ✨ Angst ✨ Time span of decades through letter excerpts
So if any of the above are of interest to you, give this book a chance! I hope that Warren and Levy draw you in and stay with you long after the book comes to a close.
This book was unique in that it’s begins in very old times and continues to current day with two MMC’s.
This book was written well and definitely has you wanting to find out what happens with the characters. However, it did at times feel redundant with the back and forth. I’m all for turmoil in the story but this felt forced at times with them.
It was power struggle with manipulation and that is normally my type of read, this just didn’t hit all the points. I would still recommend it as I think the idea of the book is great in its originality.
I did like the way the characters truly did end up with their happy ever after.
✨ARC REVIEW✨ traveling through time and the eras of new orleans from the 1870s through present day. i truly felt like i was traveling through time and seeing new orleans and vampires through the years. the love letters were beautiful the diary entries worth it. seeing levette and warren is lovely. their love is chaotic and messy and strenuous. it’s raw. it’s real. it’s sacrifice. if you’re looking for a mm romance with ups and downs and vampires. this is the one for you. RELEASES 5/11
YOU NEED THIS BOOK ! If you loved interview with a vampire - the show ! Then I am highly recommending this book ! This was my first arc read and I am just blown away at how amazing this book was ! Huge thank you to the author for providing this book as an ARC to me ! The setting, the characters, and the spice was all so perfectly developed and I am in desperate need of another book immediately. The best part for was that it was not just a smut every chapter book there was a lot to the story that left me wanting more ! this was an overall 5 star read for me !
WOW!!!! I received this book early and it had me from the beginning of it!!!! I DEVOURED this book!!! I fell in love with Levy and Warren 🥵🌶️🔥!!! I went through every emotion in this book! Their relationship went through so much. I was on the edge of my seat and just hoping for the best! The spicy scenes were SPICING 🔥🔥🔥!!! If you LOVE Vampires and the supernatural, you will love this book. If you have triggers..check them! This book finishes on a cliffhanger and can’t wait for the second book! Definitely recommend!
Listen, it's been a while since I read a book this toxic but I am so glad I kept reading. Levette and Warren are delightfully complex characters for multitude of reasons. Warren can't accept himself even when Levette does. The Irishman is a victim of his time and his family. Honestly kind of reminds me of a certain pair of characters written by a certain author but if the older vampire was actually trying to correct his mistakes. I was rooting for them the entire time. If you don't do well with the back and forth of a toxic relationship, don't grab this book.
Immortally Yours had some of my favorite tropes, and the chemistry between the two MCs was beautifully unfolded. However, it was a bit difficult for me to get into. The pacing was a bit slow for me, and as the story progressed, some things felt repetitive, but it was still a good read overall. Vampire lovers, if you enjoy yearning, MM, and some burning angst, then you should definitely give this a read!
This was such a treat to read. I had the chance to read this as a beta reader, and the story between Warren and Levette was honestly so beautiful. It truly felt like I was time traveling, experiencing what courting must have been like in that era.
Their story was incredibly sweet, but also deeply emotional. The way Billie wove in their letters added such a powerful layer to their story! I love it so much since it makes it so much more personal.
I wasn't just reading their story, I was feeling every moment of it. It broke my heart in the best way, leaving me in tears and completely invested.
Well written, quick read. I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It moved a little fast in parts but sometimes I like a fast paced read that gets me there without dragging things out! The author did a fantastic job with the well developed characters and the plot was super interesting! Definitely worth the read!
This book captivates from the very beginning, following a story of true love, forbidden love. Masterfully written capturing the changes through time and the inner struggles of inner torment. The story of the two fated mates is spicy but with the perfect amount as to not take away from the love story.
It was a Vampire novel that sparked my love for reading again and immortality. Yours reminded me why.
This story was so lush and well developed; you could tell a lot of care was put into weaving a tale that drew you closer to the MMCs. Billie managed to draw really, highlighting the toxicity of Levy and Warren's relationship in a way that really shows how much she sank of herself into the story.
The twists and turns that you just cannot see coming kept me searching each page for clues of what could be next for our blood-crossed lovers, and I was almost always wrong. This made me happier than I should care to admit.
The imagery was written in a way that the story played seamlessly in my head, like a movie. The characters were rich and layered, and it was amazing to see them change and grow and fail and keep going anyway.
Have you ever hoped so much for a couple to stay together and at the same time wished they would just leave each other alone? You will when you read Immortally Yours.
I really wanted to like this book. I love vampire books, but this just wasn’t it for me and I couldn’t quit thinking of Lestat from interview with a vampire even though he was levette… and it was just kind of all over the place to me.
