Tamara Morgan is a contemporary comedy romance author. Ninety-nine percent of her information comes from television, movies, books, and all other pop culture activities that limit the amount of time she has to spend in polite company.

Her long-lived affinity for romance novels survived a B.A. degree in English Literature, after which time she discovered it was much more fun to create stories than analyze the life out of them. She lives with her husband and teen in the Inland Northwest, where the summers are hot, the winters are cold, and coffee is available on every street corner.

4 She Thought She Knew But Didn't Stars * * * *

Male and female friends...it is the question asked all the time... in books, movies and in our heads... can women and men really be friends without any sexual pull... or better yet... if there is a sexual pull... will it get in the way of the friendship?

This read was like a little jewel box for me... a treasure trove of goodness; because it seemed pretty straightforward and then took a swerve so hard...I had to collect myself. For what was presented to put the reading breaks on was important... understandable... and put everything on its axis.

We have two very successful people...Livvie Winston, staggeringly beautiful, internationally well known model. She has been in the business for years and heard it all. She has cornered the market on the "if looks could kill" face and it has been plastered on every major runway, magazine and high end campaign. She is known for being direct, having wicked sense of humor and being feisty. She met Real Estate mogul Ben Meyers years ago. They were very young and on their way up. What Livvie loved about Ben was he didn't hit on her; he talked with her and listened to what she had to say. The two of them were fierce in the biting humor they exchanged that night and it continued throughout the years. He was her go to person and she was the one he had fun with...no sex... just two people being best friends and there for each other.

It seems on one of their many times drinking and joking a list was made... 7 things Ben would have to do in order for Livvie to ever think about him differently. Outlandish requests... crazy things which she threw out there that night with Ben writing them down on a napkin. Drunk and silly... the night ended and they went on to whereever they were supposed to be. But Ben didn't forget...

Three years later during one of the usual meeting of Ben and Livvie, the napkin comes out of Ben's pocket. He presents the scenario of completing these tasks...Livvie is appalled; No... this cannot be happening... Ben is her friend... she does not want to have anything interfere with this friendship... he is her rock. What happens next is so captivating and good... you will need to read it for yourself.

Because not everything and everyone is perfect in this tale. Ben does come across as fantastic... and use to eventually always achieving his goals; Livvie is caustic... difficult and doesn't rollover for anything. In fact there are times when you read this and wonder - WTF why is she like this and fighting it so hard.... But do not despair...we are not left wondering.

Tamara Morgan takes this idea of friends and shows how strong the love between two can be. It is not overdone; the banter and scenes move swiftly and the ramp up to the end had me sitting in my car wanting to finish. It is not too long and the ending makes sense.

Harlequin's Cosmopolitan Red-Hot Reads has become a strong franchise in my book. This was a welcome addition.

Model Behavior by Tamara Morgan is a 2015 Harlequin/ Cosmopolitan Red Hot Reads publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This short contemporary romance was a really unique twist on the friends to lovers trope.

Ben is super rich, arrogant, and too confident for his own good. Olivia is a model who had to really work it to make it in the business. She and Ben are really good friends, but suddenly Ben has decided to cash in on an old challenge Olivia gave him that would forever change their relationship. Ben only has a limited amount of time convince Olivia to become more than just friends. Can he do it? Or will Olivia prove he can't give up the things he must?

“Every time I see you, I feel as though the breath has been knocked out of me, and it takes me days to fill my lungs again. Missing you is like missing a part of my soul, and I find myself searching for you even when I know you're halfway across the world.”

I really liked this story. The author has a wry sense of humor, plus created a tense scenario and lots of sexual tension. The dialogue is razor sharp and the character development was fleshed out nicely considering the brevity of the story. Olivia's story was much more complex than Ben had realized and so her character was just little more concentrated. Ben is a guy that thought he knew just what he was doing and never doubted it, but found the challenge far more difficult than he ever imagined. As a result he learned a valuable lesson about himself and Olivia. An interesting set up, easy to read, and I'm betting you will find yourself cheering on this couple and hoping they will have a HEA! 4 stars

Tamara Morgan's writing style appears somewhat different from other romance books I've read. Her style consists of a poetic edge that somehow confused me, seeing as this is supposed to be a contemporary romance novel and it somewhat came off as gimmicky.

Best friends turned lovers is a trope I really enjoy reading, and this book is one of them. Olivia "Livvie" and Ben have been best friends for years, until suddenly, Ben wants more into the relationship. Years ago, during a drunken night, Olivia creates a list on a napkin which consists of 7 things Ben must do in order for Livvie to consider them to be in a relationship.

However, the list isn't an easy peasy to-do list but stuff that are crazy and against the norm: get a tramp stamp, order the cheapest meal in a fine dining restaurant and request for tap water and so on...Come present day, the napkin seems to be in Ben's hands and he attempts to accomplish the whole list in order to prove his feelings for Livvie.

But Livvie isn't buying the whole scenario, because of how she had been burned by men ever since due to her poor past, before she had even become a full fledged fashion model. She doesn't plan on risking their friendship either, so althroughout the story, she pushes him away, which had been so annoying.

Ben, on the other hand, was just a sweetheart and an absolutely charming character. Despite his rich status, he didn't come off as totally arrogant. I adored his character especially with all the lengths he had been willing to go through in order to convince Livvie that they belong together.

All in all, this book was just really funny and romantic, especially regarding Ben's attempts to woo Livvie. I loved how this book didn't merely center on lust, but it was all in the lines of friendship and sweet romance. Short, sweet and romantic, this book will make you swoon and giggle!

This short novella is a friends to lovers romance. Livvie and Ben are long time friends. Livvie is a model and is grateful Ben does not hit on her and try to control her like most other rich men she meets. As a joke earlier in their relationship, Livvie and Ben make a list of seven things he must do to get her into bed. The book details Ben’s quest to complete the list. The results are sometimes funny and sometimes almost heart wrenching. Livvie doesn’t understand why Ben has suddenly changed and Ben is looking for more than a night of passion. The book suffered a bit for me because I did not like Livvie’s character. Even though she was treated badly by other rich men in the past, that really does not excuse what she let Ben do for her. The book has an HFN ending. Maybe if there was an epilogue showing Livvie and Ben together, I would have enjoyed the book more.

First Thoughts

I read Model Behavior this morning, on Valentine's Day, and let me tell you, what a perfect way to start this romantic day! At 85 pages, Model Behavior is such a quick, but absorbing read! I loved every second!

What I Enjoyed

Olivia Winston. Good lord, I envied and pitied her at the same time! What a dilemma! The one man your heart beats for is, unfortunately, your best friend! Truth be told, he's a bit of a man-whore, too! Does she give in to his romantic advances and potentially ruin their amazing friendship, or keep her distance and die inside a little each time they're together?

Benjamin Meyers. This man screams sex! His body is bangin', his face is God-like, and his intentions are genuine. Livvie's list of seven ridiculous tasks he had to complete would be understandable cause to scare any man away from fighting for her affections, and I can't believe Ben achieved them all. He even got a butterfly tramp stamp!! Like, what ??

The sex scenes. Yes... I'm a sucker for them. These were soo steamy and full of sexual tension-- love it! Like I said, what a wonderful way to start Valentine's Day!

Quotes

This place had some of the best--and strongest--cocktails in Manhattan. One drink, and you were likely to forget your date's name. Two, and you forgot your own. Three, and there was a good chance you'd wake up in Vegas with a brand-new one.

Recommended For

Romance lovers, novella fans, anyone wanting to read some extremely steamy sex scenes, or anyone that wants to see a good guy win the love of his life's heart.

I love these little novellas from Harlequin's Cosmo Red Hot Reads. Not only are they sizzling hot, but you also get a pretty satisfying romance as well. Tamara Morgan's Model Behavior was a fun little romp following Ben Meyers as he attempts to woo his best friend, Olivia. Unfortunately for Ben, he really doesn't stop to consider Livvie's feelings until it is almost too late. Olivia has seen the dark side of modeling and is convinced that she can never let her guard down with men. I thought Model Behavior was delightful. I loved watching Ben pursue Livvie. Seriously, the man was on a mission. He would do anything to prove his love for Livvie and, while he doesn't really consider her feelings on the matter, he was still deliciously charming in my book. Don't get me wrong. He doesn't do anything harmful or neglectful, he is just very determined. As for Livvie, I liked her. I loved watching her try to seduce Ben to get it over with...only to get rejected every time. The slow building seduction was fantastic and I loved the Livvie's list. Model Behavior was a sexy, hot novella that I loved devouring. Now, I must find more books from Tamara Morgan...

This wasn't what I thought it was going to be.. Yes in general it was but Olivia was awful. She was mean to someone that was supposed to be her best friend. I understand it all because she explained it but at the same time she's known him for a few years. It wasn't a long book so I had no problem finishing it.

This was a good erotic novella, but I think the author writes so well that she would do better with chick-lit or woman's fiction with a lot of sex thrown in! The story was interesting, the characters are fully realized (difficult to do with only 85 pages), there is humor, tension and yes sexual play and language and then... actual sex.

“I’m sorry, Livvie, love, but you’ve forced my hand. By this time tomorrow night, I’ll have satisfied all your obligations.”
“Don’t say it.”
“And then it’ll be your turn to satisfy mine.”

Model Behavior is a novella all about Livvie and Ben, best friends, who had to face the facts that there was more than friendship between them. With a set of seven tasks to complete before he could make Livvie his own, Ben began the process hoping the end result would be lasting love.

I truly enjoyed the unique idea behind Model Behavior. The list Livvie (drunkenly) created, I thought, was a way to keep Ben at arm’s length and hold on to the friendship that meant so much to her. Even if they both knew their true feelings were so much stronger than mere friendship.

I received an ARC courtesy of the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. I have to preface this by saying that the book was not bad, but it wasn't great. I think the idea of the best friend Ben trying to prove he was serious about his feelings to Livvie by completing 7 tasks in 24 hours was a cute premise.

The small problems I had with this book was that both Livvie and Ben were superficial and a little conceited making it hard for me to totally like either one. Also coming from Livvie, the tasks were to shed Ben of his "superficial" trappings coming from her humble beginnings but it was asking a lot. So this book is a short fun read, it was a little shy of just being okay for me.

One of my favourite Cosmo Red-Hot Reads. I love one's persistence and the other's resistance to turn their friendship into something more. Love how their actions and exchanges tell more about their relationship than any attempts to convince me of their connection. Love that the heroine tells the endearing hero about the choice she's had to make. Just really love this fun romp.

“Make love to me first, and then we'll talk about all the ways you fucked our friendship up forever.”

An interesting story about long time friends who are maybe/kinda in love with each other, but she especially can't admit it. I almost feel letdown at the end of the book - the entire story is about him persuading her, via a list, that he loves her. There is an epiphany, and a HEA. But it felt tenuous, and I wasn't convinced that they were going to be ok.

This book was so much fun. Lots of sexy stuff, but the list, and how they both react to it is pretty amazing! Ben is adorably relentless, and so very romantic. I truly LOVED it!
