Oh, Peter David, qué talento más portentoso y qué pena haberte perdido, no ya a ti, obviamente, sino a esta manera de narrar una serie regular de cómic que dura más allá de los 12 números pensados para un recopilatorio y donde se te da espacio para crear tramas, ir soltando pistas e ir poniendo todas esas cosas una encima de otra para construir una historia que da satisfacciones a corto y a largo plazo.

Continúa la gran etapa de Peter David y Leonard Kirk al frente de una Chica de Acero que no se merece el olvido en el que ha caído tras la cancelación de su serie. Que yo sepa, el personaje no está muerto ni nada... estará en el limbo ese al que iban los personajes descartados por la editorial en la serie de Animal Man. Quiero creer que está de fiesta con los Inferior Five o algo por el estilo...
Pero bueno, al grano. El tomo es continuista con el anterior, profundizando en la inmensa cantidad de misterios que rodean a Supergirl y a bastantes de sus secundarios. Las luchas contra supervillanos son algo casi periférico, aunque en todas ellas, Linda Danvers demuestra ser tan formidable como la original, o más todavía. Lo que molesta un poco es la inclusión de material de relleno bastante infumable, como esa basura de Team Superman, por ejemplo. Me parece absurdo que metan de rondón estas cosas que, si al menos aportaran algo a la serie principal, pues mira... pero es que no es así, no aportan nada: son simples apariciones de Supergirl en otras coles durante esa época. Ya pasó en el último DC Finest de la Wonder Woman de Gail Simone, que publicaban números que aportaban nada y menos a la serie de Wondy, y me da que va a ser una constante en estos volúmenes. Habrá que fastidiarse.
En fin, que sí, que hay que comprar y disfrutar esta etapa en la que David y Kirk se lucen de lo lindo. Solo en Incredible Hulk (y no siempre) brilló el guionista con más fuerza que en la serie del Ángel ligado a la Tierra... y con eso he hecho un espoiler gigante, me temo. Que ustedes lo disfruten.

This is filling in a blind spot for me, and I really enjoyed the previous DC Finest collection where Supergirl is a shapeshifting alien that merges with a teenage Satanist. But this section seems less planned out, with a lot of detours into bigger DC events. That said, still fun enough most of the time, and the lesbian plot seems really groundbreaking for the time.

Continues the Peter David run on SG it’s not as good as the first volume but there’s some insane moments and entertaining writing all the way through even with the bizarre parts like Comet the half human half horse whatever the fuck was going on there. 1998-1999. 7/10
