This book is a sequel, Book 2 in the Chianti Kisses series.

Everybody expects something of Dom, they have his entire life. His family expects HIM to lead, provide, and support them. His company and employees expect him to keep their business successful, intact. His wife, V, expects him to be the beST man he can be.

And then there are the expectations of his father and his "associates."

Dom's father, although long past, had left unfulfilled expectations of his own. Everything he built, bled for, killed for... died for, was left in Dom's hands.

Dom tried to change things, set things straight, atone for the sins of his father and father-in-law. But, it hasn't been easy. Many others benefitted from his business dealings, and aren't willing to loose them so easily.

Emilio Rizzo has vowed to keep things the way they were. He's waged a war to take full control from Dom, with no concern for the toll it will take on everyone involved. Innocents will be harmed, lives will will be taken, and hard-earned progress will be lost unless Dom steps in and fights the way he was born to.

Someone will be disappointed. Will it be his family, his employees, his father, or his beloved V, when he becomes...

BOSS.

As I suspected, the writing in this book was much improved. It was more fluid, allowing for an easier and therefore more enjoyable read.

So...

V was still annoying lol

surprise

But...

The story was told predominantly from Dom's POV so for that I was extremely grateful. At last, I could finally see the connection between this couple and it was both sweet and real.

The only real downfall were the sex scenes. Nothing pissed me off more than those damn sex scenes. They weren't sexy. They were actually awkward and made me uncomfortable.

awkward

Like the author refused to use words for genitalia and what each person was doing to whom with what. Because of this, the intimate scenes didn't feel quite so intimate to me.

Anyhoo... there were secrets, betrayals, revelations, drama, action, and a hint at a second chance love between two side characters.

I'm interested in what Dom has planned next.

Favorite Quotes:

“They’re all wrong. This can’t be bad. How can something be a sin if it feels like heaven?”

“I feel anger building. Rejection starting to fester like water on the brink of boiling.”

“’I’m here baby. I’ll always be here.’ His words soothe me, but it’s the unspoken emotion, the fact that he says this with a bold certainty that assures me completely.”

My Review:

Boss was not as steamy as the first book in the series, Baby V, but provided a heaping helping of intrigue and suspense instead. It was a quick read as I could not put it down. And as always with Tara Oakes, Boss was well written, addicting, and involving, so much so - my body was tight with tension due to the taut story-line. I am totally invested now and have many unanswered questions swirling around my little pea brain, book 3 cannot come soon enough.

Ooh! It's getting interesting, the plot thickens and our Hero finds himself in the proverbial "between a rock and a hard place". He has a choice to make, two paths before him, which one will he choose? Will he stick to the straight and narrow? or Will he become Boss?

Wow

This book had a lot of twist and turns in it. A few grammatical errors but a well written story. A definite buy. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

This is the 2nd book in the Chianti Kiss Trilogy and should be read in order.

Dom is all too aware of his father’s and father-in-law’s past, and has done what he could to put it behind both families. Things start to get out of hand when Dom receives a threat against his wife Vincenza’s (V) life and Dom does what he thinks best for her and their entire family. Will Dom be able to save V or will he lose her in the process?

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

V is happy to be married to the man of her dreams. She has remained a strong woman with conviction that set her apart from others. V had to come to terms with her families past but now that Dom is running the family business the way it should’ve been run in the first place. Even though V always knew that the two families the Lombardi and DiBenedetto would be united through her marriage to Dom is even better that she truly loves him and would do anything for him.

Dom is used to being in charge and having things go his way. After almost losing V to the family secret he kept from her, he’s more protective of her and their relationship than ever before. Someone threating V’s life means that Dom will stop at nothing to save the only woman he loves and if it means jumping back into the life he’s tried to leave behind then so be it.

Tara Oaks has done it again. Just when you think you know what’s going on in Dom’s and V’s life you have a curve ball thrown your way. V remains the strong independent woman we met in Baby V but she now has the man she’s always wanted as her husband. Just when V thinks life will get back to normal now that they’re back from their honeymoon life throws something new at her. Dom hates that he has to go as far as he is to protect his wife but he’s determined to make sure that nothing and no one will take her away from him. Once Dom has protection in place for his wife he finds out that the bodyguard he hired and Dom’s little sister Theresa had a thing going on back when he last visited from Italy when he was a young man. This doesn’t sit well for many reasons but the most important is how this will affect his ability to protect Dom’s wife when he’s not around.
Just when you think Tara has things calming down, fights break out, deals are broken, secrets are revealed but all at the cost of one family member’s life. The ride that you’re taken on while you read this part of Dom and V’s story will leave you speechless as you’re never quite sure what to expect next. Tara really knows how to hook her readers and keep them wanting more!!

I am pretty sure that I like Ms. Oakes's books more and more with each new one that I read.

I knew at the end of Baby V, that there was going to be more to the story. There are some issues left unresolved but I was not sure where the story was going to go. This book opens after V and Dom get back from their honeymoon and the newlyweds are afforded no down time. Immediately there are threats that needed to be weeded out and while Dom had been trying to take the company in a new direction finds that he is following very closely to his father's footsteps. He is driven by his love for his family and wife, not vendettas or money or old scores. He hold nothing back in making sure they are safe and we see a side of him that wasn't there before.

A part of his efforts include the introduction of Carmine as protection. While there is some history with Carmine and the family Dom doesn't know that there was more to that history. As it turns out Carmine and Theresa (Dom's sister) have an intimate history together, which didn't end well. While their story is only touched upon, I foresee some serious tension in the works for these two.

This is book is written prominently from Dom's POV and can I just say, I love him. He's smart and thinks things through. Once he has the information he needs, he follows through with a plan full steam ahead. He loves fiercely but has a soft side that can make you melt. He is a take charge kind of guy and rightfully earns the title, Boss.

This book, while ends at a decent spot leaves the future wide open. It was fast paced and the chase to find and stop the threat was well played. The entire last half of the book was pretty intense and earned growls when I was interrupted. Ms. Oakes can write a page turner for sure and now I again I can't wait to see what is next.

I wasn't sure what to expect in the book Boss, book 2 in the Chianti Kisses Series! Boss picked up from where Baby V left off. I was drawn into the book from the very beginning. I didn't want to put it down. I wanted to find out what was going to happen next.

In the last book both Dom and the Lombardi brothers try to keep their families' business on the up and up. They don't want to run their company the way their fathers had with mafia ties. They realize their is nothing but trouble being tied into the mafia and that people lose their lives due to greed of others trying to take everything over or to have a hand in everything.

When Dom and V. come back from their honeymoon, Dom receives an email that shows their has been someone following them taking pictures of mostly V but with both of them from being home from the airport all the way to their destinations and back home again. Dom's initial reaction is to protect V and the rest of his family and V's from any harm. He keeps this from V and hires more people for security. He also employs extra protection which will come at a price that could be a hefty price.

I recommend you read Baby V followed by Boss. The development of the characters was done well. Dom is the take control type person and paired with V who is a strong independent stubborn woman. They make an awesome couple. This book is suspenseful, contains some hot steamy sex, and you can relate to the emotions that they experience throughout the story. Great read!

Boss is book two in Chianti Kisses series and focuses a great deal on Dom’s point of view. As we know from the end of Baby V, both families have a history with the mob and Dom and John have worked hard to separate the family business from that. With Rizzo being arrested in Baby V, it looks as though it could finally happen. However, that would just be too easy don’t you think? There is a threat against a family member and Dom does what he feels he must to keep his family safe. I personally don’t understand why he makes future decisions concerning this, but I’m sure the author has her reasons.

I enjoyed this book very much. V is a strong Italian woman and that mirrors my family closely. We Italian females aren’t to be messed with! Dom is an uber alpha male and he would like his wife to listen to him without question, yeah right! The characters from book one appear in book two and we get to see more of their lives. A few new characters are introduced, and I have to say I’m liking Carmine! The foundation for book three is laid out in this book and it looks to be interesting. There are some shocking revelations made, which is always good for a plot. In true Tara Oaks fashion, there is plenty of steamy sex. I give this book 4 stars with 3 hands down the pants.

Boss (Chianti Kisses #2)
By: Tara Oakes
4/5 stars

This book starts out with Dom & V just returning to NYC from their honeymoon in Italy. (I was a little bummer that the wedding wasn’t written about or their super-hot honeymoon!) And while they had the time of their life, some of the shady side of their real world is about to come crashing down.

Dom has to try to balance using some of the contacts from the mafia side of his father’s associates because they are more skilled at the kind of protection work that he will need to ensure V’s safety. He’ll have to use some of those same contacts to get to the bottom of their problems in order to take care of business & ensure their futures to the best of his ability.

However, going to any of the crime families for help automatically puts you in their debt and you can be sure that they will collect on that, and it will be in a way that you won’t have any real choice. But when it comes to his wife’s safety, there is nothing that Dom won’t do.

Emilio Rizzo is the cockroach that just won’t go away. He’s back in the picture, but claiming to be keeping himself clean and out of the loop. Dom can’t retaliate without cold hard proof and the commission’s permission, so he is left chasing leads, trying to track down the culprit before it is too late and a move is made against him or V.

There are some typos & grammatical errors in this book, but nowhere as many as were in the first book of this series.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It was really great to catch up with V and Dom, especially now that they're married and living together. It's nice to see that their relationship had developed to that point and they were happy. Although I have to admit that I did want to smack both at one point or another. Dom didn't seem to be learning lessons from his past and it was slightly frustrating. So yes, I have to say I loved the characters. And we were introduced to two new perspectives; that of Carmine and Theresa. Who I have to say I cannot wait to hear more from.

It was amazing that Tara Oakes didn't portray V and Dom's life as perfect. There were ups and downs that they had to work out in order to remain happy with each other. It didn't just fall into place and require no work at all. Not to mention there was more "family" involved. And I have to say I'm shocked that I'm actually finding these types of romance more and more interesting as I find some more and more family or mob romances.

I WANT MORE RIGHT NOW. Can that be a thing?

Baby V married her soul mate the one she was destined to be with her Dom, everyone knew it and everyone seen it and they made it happen.
Now back from their honeymoon it’s time to be a wife to the CEO time to fill the shoes of a wife.

Dom comes crashing down off cloud 9 after his honeymoon with a letter that changes everything.

He must protect her.

He must protect the families.

He must b do everything in his power to keep them safe.

He makes the call.

One that he will now owe.

Is it worth the risk?

He puts his life on the line for his family he stares death in the face but does not back down.
But at the risk of keeping his family safe he losses one of the main women he loves.

He adores her.

He cherished her.

How will he come back from a death?

Will baby V step up and be the wife she needs to be.

We absolutely loved this book we would have loved for it to be bigger to get down and dirty with the nitty gritty dirty parts but it was stick a kick arse book and can’t wait for the 3rd.....

Thank you Tara for an amazing read!!

I have been given the opportunity to read all of Tara Oakes books for my honest review. every boook she writes captures you from begining to the end.

Boss is amazing. Dom is the dream alpha male throughout this story. he is a true Don in every sense of its meaning. He is protective of his wife Vincenza and family and will keep them safe at any price. This isn't the life he chose, it was the one he and his brother in laws were born into. In trying to stay away from how his father and father in law did things back in the day, he has no choice but to follow in their footsteps. All because two members of other families have it out for him. They literally stalk his wife knowing that he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. She is his life his everything.

He calls in a favor to get the help he needs to make sure nothing happens to V r the rest of his family. Having done this brings him into the life he never wanted in the first place. What will happen to Dom once he becomes "Boss". You will have to find out.

MY THOUGHTS~

I was provided with a Review Copy/ARC for review.

If I really liked Baby V, then I absolutely fell in love with Boss! Great read! I couldn't put it down. Boss was captivating from front to back.

The writing was very well done in Boss and the characters were A-mazing! We got more of the already established characters that were introduced in Baby V and we also got some new ones with Boss. I loved the relationships in this book, whether romantic or familiar, they were endearing. There is a bit more mob/mafia stuff in this one, but you could see that coming from the first book. It was exciting to read, for sure.

I absolutely cannot wait for book 3! YES, there is more to come!! We can hopefully expect book 3 to be out late summer 2015! Yaaayyy more Dom, V, Theresa, and others to come! Can't wait!

V and Dom have just arrived home honeymoon and life is perfect or so they think, but others have different plans for them and target the most important part of Dom's life. Dom made promises to V that he would be honest with her after all the recent family revelations but he finds his need to protect her from this greater and starts to push her and family away in order to deal with this threat.

Dom as steered the company along a straight and narrow path the best he can moving away from old family ties but this threat has him reaching out to these old ties but not without consequences. Can Dom do right by his family well that's for you to find out this book like the first has many twists and turns but keeps you flicking the pages.

Another great read Tara looking forward to Book 3 Betrayed xx

I just finished with the “Boss” by Tara Oakes. I truly enjoyed this one. I think this is the first Mafia romance that I have read. I thought I had read Baby V and I actually had not. However, I don’t think it hurt me by not reading it. Other than there were a few things I obviously didn’t know about some of the characters development. I still enjoyed reading Boss and never felt lost.

Now I will go back and read Baby V and then I can go on with the rest of this series as they come out.

AS always I am so happy to be a blogger. It is a wonderful nonpaying job 

At the end of Book one, you get a sense that there is more to Dom's business than meets the eye and definitely doesn't want to tell V. Dom is the epitome of macho and if he would just trust that V is not Baby V anymore and quite grown up, a lot of problems could be avoided, but then we wouldn't have such a great story! I loved the twists and turn this book took as we learn more about the history of both families and how it relates to present day. Old grudges die hard, or not at all in simmer in the background. I can definitely see more storylines and spinoffs in this series and I can't wait to read them all!

I liked this one a lot more than the first one. Marriage has done nice things to V; she is no longer this unsure girl but a woman who knows how to stand by her man and the transformation was great to see. Yes, they fought so it wasn't just flowers and sunshines but it was also very realistic.
Dom too has settled. Yes, he is keeping secrets again, and you'd think he would have learned from the first time but he is doing better.
We also get a piece of Theresa in here, which is nice as well as a lot of sadness... All in all it was a wonderful read!

This is my favorite yet from Chianti Kisses Series!
I've lived Dom since Baby V, i just like the all alpha in him and sweet in his own way.
In this book I've seen the other side of Dom, as a husband and a leader/boss and it made me love him more specially the way he loves V.
This book is action-filled, hot and there's a scene that made me really cry. I've read all of Tara’s books and I just want to say I've never read a booknof hers that I didn't like!

*Boss* was a great follow up to *Baby V. There was action and mystery. I really like Tara Oakes' writing. I'm a big fan of Dom. He has so much love for 'V' and his family, he will do anything to protect them. 'V' is a strong woman that can stand up to her man! I look forward to reading the next book *Betrayed*

Crime family... 3.75 stars

So for mob family's this book is pretty mild. Dom is a great alpha role and V is a sweet timid wife... A lot of crap happens and we are introduce to Carmine... Ohhhh yeah can't wait to get to know him in book 3!

So good. The characters are well rounded, the plot makes sense. Both books were easy reads that I enjoyed... I am interested to see if Doms questions are answered in book 3. Otherwise, I'm not really interested in Theresa and canines story... no offense lol.

Ok read. Not sure why I never liked reading a novella much no matter how much I liked that series.

I liked they got married in this book, but didn't care much about Dom's sister's love life and her ex, not to mention their POV. I preferred 1st book to this one.
