Pammy’s life is full of thuds, but only one of them changed her life forever—the sound of a small child’s body hitting the bottom of a dry well. Although it is her best friend Frankie that shoved his sister into the well, Pammy is a witness, and it is she who convinces Frankie to engineer a cover-up. Although the cover-up is believed, she is haunted by the thud the rest of her life.
Pammy’s myriad problems, however, do not begin or end with that summer day at the well. Pammy is the oldest child of a dysfunctional family—her father has died and her mother suffers from a severe mental illness. It is Pammy who must be the adult, Pammy who takes care of not only her younger siblings, but her mother and alcoholic uncles as well. This a coming-of-age story follows Pammy through her troubled childhood into her equally troubled adulthood. Pammy’s story is not one you will soon forget.

This was an awesome read. The story line is interwoven around the sound of 'thud'. Well written and can't wait to read more of DL Reed's stuff.
