He’d loved her since college. She chose another. Years later, fate brings them back together.
For sixteen years, Hailey believed that patience, loyalty, and love could save a marriage. But her world shatters when her husband’s betrayal is exposed—along with his pregnant mistress and a brutal, humiliating divorce. Left without the life she once knew, Hailey becomes convinced that love is a luxury she can no longer afford.
Caleb is a judge. Cold. Confident. Untouchable. With an impeccable reputation and a past he never truly let go of. Years ago, he loved Hailey in silence while she built a life with another man. Now fate gives him a second chance. And this time, he has no intention of letting her go.
This is the story of a woman who believes she is broken. And of the man who waited for her far too long.

I enjoyed this book. It didn’t just focus on the cheating, but on Hailey building a new relationship. No one can decide when it’s too soon after one relationship ends to get into another one. Because everyone is distinct and unique.
Hailey opened her heart to Caleb eventually. And Caleb was a tower of patience with her - that’s true love. We always say people “fall“ in love. But actually love is a choice.
And the cheater, Michael? Well what goes around, comes around. He got what he deserved. This is what happens when men don’t appreciate the wife they have. They think the grass is greener and it rarely ever is. There’s a saying, that “one doesn’t find happiness at the expense of another”.
It was the best revenge when there at the end Hailey runs into Michael while she’s heavily pregnant.
Would’ve been interesting to find out if Michael took Hailey’s suggestion to do a DNA test to find out if the baby Michael had with Kristy was actually his.
What I would like to have seen in this book, was Caleb and Hailey telling Lucas that he was going to be a brother. The Author kind of cheated us out of that one.
And Caleb was so likable, that I found myself really rooting for he and Hailey to end up together. A great HEA in this book.
this wasn't bad, I didn't feel angsty reading it though. For some reason, maybe its the writing, ai assisted writing takes the warmth out of the book. It's pretty obvious here. Anyway, the mmc cheated, I don't know why the fmc stayed as long as she did, he didn't sound all that great plus there was the awful and annoying quintessential meddling MIL. the other woman shows up at the house pregnant, telling the fmc to divorce her husband, this comes out of the blue, we are told only that he's been busy lately but that kind morphs over the story. so there is inconsistencies here that stick out like a sore thumb. the fmc kicks out the cheating hubby and he moves in with the ow. turns out the fmc is the one with all the money and he's been using the money to fund his mistress, real top notch guy here folks. I didn't feel the gutpunch of betrayal like I do in some books but I did get all ragey when they were divorcing and he was fighting her and for half her money, and the house she built for them. the fmc at one point goes to this house and sees the nursery all nice and cute and she cries, I did feel that. I should mention she's had fertility issues and that hit a little close to home for me so I did feel that moment in the story. Anyways... the other guy, is from their college days and he is the judge in the case and the fmc ends up with him. the ex gets left with nothing in the end. the fmc and new mmc get together and she ends up preggers and hea. I did feel like the fmc is a bit wishy washy but given the situation and she pretty much jumped into bed with the new guy right away was understandable but still annoying, a few details given on the new mmc past, he doesn't sound like a manho but he's in his early 40's so he's been around and he has a son which he co-parents on good terms with for an ex girlfriend who is happily married. I might check out the other books by this author, but I gotta say I am so annoyed by the amount of ai assisted books are out there right now. They sound the same and written the same.
Dear author, when you develop a character can we have one who is strong and doesn’t hide. I have never pushed someone away I felt attraction to or liked, why would I? When my ex’s put distance between us I didn’t bury my head in the sand and pretend it was okay, if we were just existing together I wouldn’t fall apart because they were proven to be cheaters. I did however mourn my dreams of what wasn’t real. So I’m not happy with this book or many of the books I’ve attempted to read
This one is a total emotional rollercoaster built around second chances. Caleb reconnects with his old college crush, Hailey, and this time he is determined not to let her slip away again.
What makes the story hit hard is learning, mostly through Caleb’s perspective, how badly Michael treated Hailey over the sixteen years they were together. Watching that history unfold is painful, and I kept wishing the story could rewind back to college so Caleb could step in sooner and spare her so much heartbreak.
Even with that frustration, the book is very enjoyable. If you like second chance romance, protective heroes, and heroines finally finding the love they deserve, this delivers exactly that.
I really tried to get into it, but the writing just wasn’t doing it for me. It’s all over the place and the characters don’t really have consistency. Except maybe the three stooges (Michael, Kristy and Michael’s mom) the stayed dumb from beginning to end.
There was a heavy emphasis on a woman providing heirs, which made me question what time period this took place in. At one point the monster-in-law was saying something about Hailey not having a dowry? It reads like a first draft not one ready for publication.
Absolutely love this authors writing style. Her books are so well written. The characters are well defined and their personalities are explained through the story.
This is the second book I’ve read and loved. Just bought the third book.
I read this book in one afternoon. Didn't get anything else done, but that's OK. Really good story. We'll written and very believable. There are quite a few typos but not so bad it alters the story and it doesn't make it hard to read. Excellent characters. So hard not to love Caleb. Such a great guy.
A beautiful story of heartache and strength after betrayal. Emotionally written with strong characters and feelings of loss, resilience and rebuilding a life filled with love.
This book was well done in some places and flat and emotionless in others. I would seriously be concerned about the relationship between a presiding judge and a defendant, sounds like a conflict of interest at the least and a legal line crossed.
This book warmed my heart. Simply beautiful. I really enjoyed how the up and down finally lead Caleb to Hailey and Hailey to Caleb. Absolutely beautiful
Dumb. Michael’s lawyer would have immediately demanded a new judge. Caleb should lose seat. MMC was a creep for keeping son from FMC. Situation with infertility was uncomfortable.
