Advent is a season of expectation and hope. It invites us to pause and remember Christ’s first coming when He entered the world to redeem us from sin and brokenness. From the first light of creation to the birth of the long-awaited Messiah—Jesus Himself—each part of the Advent story builds our own anticipation for Christmas Day.
Advent 2025: Tidings of Comfort and Joy is a five-week Reading Guide designed to help you explore and practice the rhythms of Advent. This plan was intentionally designed to help you carve out space in the middle of this busy holiday season to read, reflect, and engage with familiar passages of Advent. Alongside God’s people in the Old Testament, we will feel the ache for the promised Messiah and watch in awe as God sends His Son at just the right time, bringing light, hope, and joy into the world.
As you enter this Advent season, we invite you to lay down your heavy load and lean into the comfort and joy of Christ’s presence.

She Reads Truth is a worldwide community of women who read God's Word together every day. Founded in 2012, She Reads Truth invites women of all ages to engage Scripture through curated daily reading plans, as well as online conversation led by a vibrant community of contributing writers. This community of “Women in the Word of God every day” represents a long list of cities and countries, a variety of backgrounds and traditions, and countless real-life stories. But there is a commonality that binds us: we believe God's Word is Truth. So we read. Every day we read a new passage together—working our way through books of the Bible, topics that matter, and seasons of the Church calendar. We engage with God's Word and with each other. And we keep coming back, on the hard days and the good days, because God and His Word never change, regardless of our circumstances.
I love the resources from She Reads Truth. They are not only beautiful, they point directly to Scripture.
They allow Scripture to interpret itself by providing a lot of companion passages. For example, they might feature a main story of Jesus’ life from Matthew, but they’ll pull in passages from across the Old Testament and New Testament to flesh out the text. (So it may be a text declaring Jesus is the Great High Priest. They’ll include a passage from Numbers describing the need and creation of the High Priest position and from Hebrews talking about how Jesus fulfills that role in a greater way.) I have learned so much about how the Bible connects through these studies.
One could argue that these books just feature Scripture, so just use your Bible instead of the book. While that is true and I have done that in the past, there are a few things that make these books worth the cost. The main thing is space to write. It’s still small enough that I can pack it in my Bible study bag, but there are margins galore for notes and questions. You can follow rabbit trails and have room to spare. The paper is thick enough that your notes won’t bleed through and you can highlight without worry.
For this Advent study specifically, I love how they began at the beginning, brought us all the way through Scripture to the birth of Jesus and then took us to the second Advent - Jesus’ eventual return. I am so grateful for these reminders every year at Christmas.
There was a recipe this year that was delicious - the creamy veggie tortellini soup became a family favorite.
The podcast episodes that went along with this study were also fantastic. I think of them as practice for how to talk to someone else about the Bible. I have learned so much from their conversations, the questions they ask each other, and their attitude toward Scripture. I am so thankful for these resources and the way they have equipped me to study the Bible.
First time doing a She Reads Truth Advent study. Beautiful book, enjoyed the opportunity to reflect and record. However I have never gone beyond Christmas Day into Christmastide so I would have liked more explanation of the week after Christmas.
