Don’t piss off the demon or you’ll wind up with hot flashes and chin hair 🤣..The Adventure or Peri and Mawg is brilliant..all women will relate to Mawg as she enters the change and will love Peri for his humor and constant snackie craving! There’s mystery, love, spice, demons, female rage, and a heartwarming story in these pages! And maybe an adult club where Mawg gets to have an awakening and become a more confident version of herself! Recommend for all females and anyone who loves a good comedy!

First off—this book had me laughing out loud. Every chapter cranked the chaos up another notch, and I was absolutely here for it. Just when you think you know where the story is going, Adventures of Peri and Mawg takes a sharp left turn and floors it.

Things really pop off when Peri decides Mawg desperately needs to “go out on the town.” Peri swears no one even says that anymore (sir… calm down), but somehow he ends up giving Mawg a full makeover—starting with a new outfit. What she doesn’t realize is that the person helping them out is Peru’s old friend… and someone who knows exactly how much Peru hates sensing weird things. Enter: jello, Peri, and a revelation I did not see coming.

From there? Pedicures (with an upcharge for the smell—no, I’m not telling you why), questionable life choices, and off to the church Mawg assumes is some kind of club. Spoiler: it kind of is. A fantasy-based, consent-is-king kind of club. A deal is struck, Mawg lands a new job, and then—BAM—she finds out who the dark, mysterious man from the night before really was.

I’ll stop there, because trust me, this is a story made for us 35+ women with a little demon energy and for the men who desperately need to understand us. It’s sassy, chaotic, heartfelt, and wildly entertaining.

Don’t walk—run and grab this book when January 9th hits. You will fall in love with these characters and their gloriously quirky chaos. Trust me when I say I am only writing enough to get you started. This book will definitely be a most recommended book for me!

Must read for every middle aged woman, or if you know one!

Mawg goes through a life changing experience thanks to Peri showing up. Inspiring how she went for a plain Jane to a full fledge bad a** Jane. Peri brings the humor to every situation. Honestly, if he showed up in my life how he did in Mawg’s I’d despise and love him at the same time. This is one adventure you don’t want to miss! Oh and it’s very spicy.

Thank you Jen Xant for letting me be an ARC reader for this book. This is my honest, unsolicited review.

I absolutely devoured The Adventures of Peri and Mawg (Taopam) by Jen Xant. This is her debut novel and WOW — I could not put it down.

The first ten chapters had me laughing so hard my husband was genuinely concerned 😅. Mawg is such a refreshingly relatable FMC: an everyday woman in her early 40s who wakes up on her 45th birthday expecting beige, boring normal… and instead gets a chaos-loving demon named Peri.

Peri completely flips Mawg’s world upside down — costing her a job but launching her into an unexpected adventure that leads to new opportunities, new friends, and a whole new version of herself. Watching Mawg rediscover her confidence, start over, and step outside the life she thought she was stuck with was such a joy. And yes… there’s also a dark-haired man with a very sexy Irish accent who makes both her mind and body come alive 👀🔥

Just when everything starts going right, a huge secret threatens to unravel it all — but Mawg faces it head-on, backed by her found family, her newfound strength, and her snack-obsessed demon sidekick.

Peri absolutely stole the show for me. He’s hilarious, torments Mawg nonstop, hates gelatin with a passion, is obsessed with food, and somehow becomes one of the biggest reasons Mawg learns to believe in herself (plus helps upgrade her wardrobe 😉).

This book made me laugh harder than anything I’ve read in a long time, but it also delivered heart, growth, and joy in the best way. After this read, I’ll 100% be a lifelong reader of Jen Xant.

Okay, The Adventures of Peri and Mawg by Jen Xant might just be one of the most entertaining books I’ve read all year. Like, how can you not love a story about a middle‑aged FMC, Mawg, whose demon‑possessed big toe runs a BDSM club?! The concept alone had me hooked, but the execution? Chef’s kiss. 👌It’s got the perfect mix of chaos, humor, and just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting without overshadowing the wild storyline. Mawg is hilarious, relatable, and totally unforgettable. If you’re into quirky, off‑the‑wall fantasy with legit heart, you need to add this to your TBR. I’m obsessed and already counting down until the next installment drops! 🔥📚

This book was PHENOMENAL! The FMC-relatable. The humor-had me cackling. The spice-was spicing. The execution-chefs kiss.
You follow Mawg, a middle aged woman who has dealt with bullies, crappy ex’s and insecurities her entire life. She was very beige and practical, just flying under the radar until she wakes up to meet Peri who helps her see her worth, squashes those insecurities and turns her into the complete badass that she is deep down. All while driving her slightly crazy. 🤣
I was hooked immediately. I quite literally could NOT put it down and lost a lot of sleep from the wonderful “just one more chapter” moments (so worth it).
Jen really touched base with it all. She had me laughing hysterically (and I mean full on cackling) with Peri, she touched home with the very typical, and not talked about enough, insecurities women face on a day to day basis. Followed it up with some of the most uplifting words I didn’t know I needed to hear, that had me tearing up a few times. Then she goes and conjures up Mr. Sexy Irish man and some exquisite spice (of all shapes, sizes and flavors 😉) and finally pulls it all together with a solid twist. AND THE ENDING!? 🫵 omg I’m so here for it and cannot WAIT for what comes next!!!
It’s got everything you’d want in a book and is an absolute must have.

Jen, thank you for giving me the opportunity to ARC this for you and for introducing me to Peri and Mawg. I am SO DAMN PROUD OF YOU!! 🖤

The Adventures of Peri and Mawg is one of those books that sneaks up on you, steals your snacks, and then makes you laugh out loud in public. The kind of laugh that causes concerned side-eye from your husband and absolutely no regrets.

Mawg is painfully relatable in the best way. Beige routines, low self-esteem, and a life that feels a little too quiet. Enter Peri, a chaos-loving, snack-obsessed demon who flips her world upside down and promptly drags her into situations she never would have chosen, including a sex club, a paranormal awakening, and some very inconvenient feelings. What follows is funny, heartfelt, and surprisingly empowering.

This book nails the balance. It is laugh-out-loud funny, genuinely relatable, and has just the right amount of spice. Enough heat to raise a hot flash, but never at the expense of story or character. The paranormal elements are playful and clever, the emotional beats land, and the chemistry is chef’s kiss, especially when a dark-haired Irish stranger enters the scene with a voice that should honestly come with a warning label.
Beyond the humor and spice, there is a really lovely exploration of self-worth, desire, and what it means to let yourself want more, even when you think life has already settled into its final shape.

If you love paranormal romance with humor, heart, grown-woman energy, and a demon who may or may not steal your snacks, this one is absolutely worth the read. I devoured it and immediately wanted more adventures with Peri and Mawg.

I never realised that author does not have to concern themselves with something as simple as “genre”. This book fits them all! It feels like reading a tutorial to self-love in the midst of a very difficult period of women’s life—pre-menopause, where you have to accept that you’re no longer young but not old either. The comedic quality makes it relatable and easygoing. With the romance, spice, drama, self-proclaimed-detective-Gadget vibes… I laughed, I cried, I bit my nails, and I enjoyed realistic, mature perspective on intimacy that didn’t take away from the fire at all. I didn’t know what I signed up for before reading this so each page was full of surprises, one more pleasant than another. I went for a rollercoaster ride, and I love rollercoasters! By the end of it I wished to have my own Peri 🦶😹

Settings of each scenes were vivid; as a reader, I felt spoiled. It took me in easily, I could imagine everything perfectly. Almost too well 😏 Characters were fun and always enriched the story line. Plot twist made me sit up straight and I had to finish the second half of the book in one go. There’s nothing to add to make this book any better, at the same time there’s not too much of anything, the pace is perfect, the length is perfect, I am annoyed with having zero negative feedback 😂 After reading many fantasy books, I found it refreshing to have FMC in her forties with insecurities we all face at some points.

TAOPAM! Jen Xant knocked this out of the park. Funny. Spicy. Banter all the way through from beginning to end. I can guarantee you most likely have not read ANYTHING like it.
What would you do if you woke up on your 45th birthday with a little demon on your toe called Peri... Perimenopause. Oh wait... that happened. Well… I don’t think my adventures were as exciting or as life changing as Mawg. Although I share an affinity for pineapple pizza and frequent snacks, I still am mostly beige in my life. Mawg, on the other hand, is uprooted and life changes for her in an instant. What are those changes? You will just have to read.
This book is for the 18+ crowd that wants a believable real-life woman. Not a woman that looks like a twig and bakes cookies every day to give to the neighbors. Be prepared to question your understanding of what a club focused on sensuality might be and have an open mind. This genre bending book was a quick and fun read for the weekend. This may not be for everyone; but for those of us who are hiding in the shadows, this was a breath of fresh air.

I have to say now I’m thoroughly disappointed that I will not be possessed by a change demon when it’s time for me to go through menopause. 🥺🥺

I have laughed, cried, and cheered while enjoying Mawg & Peri’s adventures. It’s been freaking fabulous from start to finish. I annotated most of Peri’s commentary. He is a hilarious little sh!t.

I loved Mawg and Peri’s relationship and how they grow on each other. Peri is like the perfect little friend and hype man every woman needs in their ear to keep it straight with them. He was well thought out for how ridiculous this premise sounds!!

Now on to I Declan (Peri’s nickname makes me giggle every time 🤭) and Mawg’s relationship… 🫠🥵😮‍💨 Steamy from the start! And it only gets hotter as Peri lands Mawg smacks dab in a Smexclub.

I highly recommend, this is a must read!

This is an ARC review. I absolutely loved this book. I don't want to give away too much plot but i will give one thing away that they state in the very first chapter. Peri is a demon that Mawg gets because she's hit perimenopause which is why his name is Peri. I love that this topic is talked about since perimenopause is almost never talked about or explained to anyone, especially women, and the fact that we get it explained with a comical fun twist with a demon is fantastic. We always see in shows or movies of men going through midlife crisis but this is a fresh take on technically a woman going through it. The comedy, the remaking of herself, the spice, the fresh storyline, all of it is amazing. I highly recommend this book to all women going through perimenopause.

This book is brilliant and sexy and incredibly well written. I laughed my socks off (not onion filled!) I would LOVE to listen to this as an audiobook as I think it would be even more hysterical.

The FMC Mawg wakes up and finds herself inhabited in her big toe by a demon… this happens to all women apparently who are of an age for perimenopause. This demon subsequently causes some shenanigans, she ends up fired and on her way to ‘the church’ which turns out to be a sex club.

Jen has created a story that’s unique in terms of its premise and content. her ability to tell a story that has some mature themes in while keeping the humor is fantastic. Obviously with the sex club being part of the story there are sex scenes but these haven’t been overused and are part of the story instead of just thrown in for the sake of it.

I absolutely loved this book! Jen Xant is a hilarious genius. I can’t recommend this book enough, especially to middle aged women. Please, do yourself a favor and get this book, it’s so incredibly relatable. Peri absolutely cracked me up, I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun reading a book. I laughed, I cried, I laugh some more, I cackled out loud at midnight and threw myself into an asthma attack, and kept on laughing. The Adventures of Peri and Mawg will forever be on my list of favorite books!

The adventures of Peri and Mawg is a great book! As a middle age female it was so refreshing to read a Romantacy with a FMC I can relate to on so many levels. The book begins with Mawg’s instruction to Perimenopause. The witty prose had me commiserating with Mawg and laughing at Peri’s comments. The story has intrigue, heart-felt moments, and SPICE!!! I can’t wait for the next book in the series! A great big Thank You to Jen Xant for writing a story for the middle age female reader. Highly recommend!!!!!

With her debut novel, Jen Xant introduces a vivid and immersive world filled with unspoken emotions. From the very first pages, I was completely drawn in and found myself lost in a universe that carries strong Sex and the City and Lucifer vibes.
The characters are relatable, sharp, and full of brilliant humor, while the story delivers the perfect mix of tension and spice to keep you hooked until the end. No seriously I cracked multiple times.
An absolute must-read for 2026!

ARC REVIEW: Oh My Demon!! The Adventures of Peri and Mawg was a fabulous way to end my Christmas! I was hooked from the very beginning and it didn’t let up. If you want you FMC who is truly relatable and in her 40’s you are going to love Mawg! As for Peri…that guy is hilarious to the point my husband asked what was so funny. Also that ending was just what I wanted. You MUST give this a read!

This is a spicy, steamy, hilarious love letter to Women of a Certain Age who have fallen into the role society seems to love to shove us into. Mawg not only finds love, but herself, her strength, her confidence, and a life she could have never imagined for herself.

Funny, spicy, heartfelt, with a twist of suspense and supernatural shenanigans - I can’t wait to see what else Jen Xant has in store for us. This is a solid debut novel that doesn’t read like a debut novel.

This book felt rude in the best way… because it saw me.

The Adventures of Peri and Mawg is funny, chaotic, sarcastic, and somehow still tender — which honestly feels like an accurate description of my life right now. I picked it up expecting laughs (and yes, there were many), but I wasn’t prepared for how deeply it would land while I’m going through a divorce at 35 and trying to figure out who the hell I am again.

Mawg is navigating midlife changes, big emotions, and unexpected upheaval — and instead of sugarcoating it, this book leans all the way in. The rage, the grief, the humor, the “why am I like this” moments… all of it. Peri, the demon, is basically that inner voice that refuses to let you stay comfortable, quiet, or invisible — and honestly? Same.

Reading this while my life is actively being dismantled and rebuilt felt oddly validating. Divorce isn’t just about losing a marriage — it’s about shedding a version of yourself you outgrew, even if it hurts like hell. This book captures that messy in-between space where you’re grieving what was, laughing at the absurdity of it all, and secretly starting to feel powerful again.

What I loved most is that this story doesn’t pretend transformation is pretty. It’s awkward. It’s loud. It’s emotional. Sometimes it’s petty. Sometimes it’s empowering. And sometimes you’re just tired and want snacks. Relatable.

There’s something incredibly freeing about a story that says: You’re not broken — you’re changing. And maybe midlife isn’t a crisis… maybe it’s a glow-up with attitude.

If you’re in your 30s (or beyond), starting over, reclaiming your voice, rediscovering your body, or just learning how to choose yourself without apology — read this. If you’ve ever laughed while crying, felt rage and relief at the same time, or realized you’re done playing small — this one’s for you.

Five stars. Zero chill. Would absolutely recommend!

This book is a beautiful, gigantic middle finger to purity culture and the patriarchy and I am here for it!
4.5 is more accurate, but sadly, half stars aren't a thing. Let me start by saying I’m not quite the target audience for this book, but that’s never stopped me from reading something before. After (finally!) getting the chance to finish it, I am eagerly awaiting the next installment and hoping it features many of the same characters! Full disclosure, I’m generally not a fan of the whole “newbie/naive/innocent FMC discovers the kink world” trope, and often annoyed by it. Maybe a page or two after I realized that was in this book, however, I found myself thoroughly enjoying Jen’s approach to it. Her variation is a welcome, realistic (and hysterical at times) change of pace. The running commentary from “toe boy” through some of those early scenes contributed heavily to my overall enjoyment.
Frankly, Peri is my favorite character.
Mawg is a relatable, easily lovable FMC with impressive self-control when it comes to not losing her shit laughing at Peri’s jokes.
Declan is absolutely drool-worthy in a number of ways (love a man who can cook), but he feels a little flat in comparison to Mawg, Peri and Gina. I’d love to get to know him better, beyond club owner, cook and mind-blowing lover.
Tori is another fantastic character and I’d love to see more of Mawg’s growing friendship with her, as well as more interactions that don’t revolve around Mawg needing something from her.
All in all, this debut novel is a thoroughly enjoyable read that I’d definitely recommend picking up. Although I warn you now - be careful eating or drinking while reading The Adventures of Peri and Mawg. The chances of discovering what your beverage of choice feels like coming out of your nose from laughter are high!

The Adventures of Peri and Mawg is the kind of book that blindsides you in the best way. I had the privilege of receiving an ARC of this story and was not prepared for the wildly entertaining ride I was about to embark on.

Mawg is a forty-five-year-old, perfectly vanilla woman who believes she’s simply entered the dreaded stage of perimenopause, until she learns the truth: it’s not a phase at all, but a literal demonic possession named Peri, who arrives on her forty-fifth birthday to become her constant (and wildly unfiltered) companion for the next decade.

What follows is a single day that detonates her life, she’s fired from her job, pushed into a makeover, and plunged headfirst into the secret, erotically charged underworld of an upscale nightclub. It’s there she meets the MMC: an Irish businessman who owns the club and is every bit as intriguing as the chaos unfolding around her.

This book was an absolute surprise gift as an avid reader such as myself. A total reinvention of the wheel. Never in my wildest imaginings did I think erotica and laugh-out-loud comedy could mesh so seamlessly, but Jen Xaunt didn’t just make it work, she elevated it. She layered this story with mystery, suspense, and paranormal elements in a way that feels effortless and wildly original.

The banter between Peri and Mawg is unmatched, hysterical, sharp, and endlessly entertaining. Artistic genius is the only phrase that fits. This book is addictive, outrageously funny, and packed with fun and adventure.

A must-read, an instant recommend, and one I’m certain we’ll be seeing on the bestsellers list very soon.

💥TAOPAM💥

The Adventures of Peri and Mawg is the kind of book that sneaks up on you—one minute you’re laughing at razor-sharp banter, and the next you’re fanning yourself and feeling uncomfortably seen. It strikes the perfect balance between comedy, spice, and heart.

Mawg is wildly relatable: stuck in a beige life, drowning in self-doubt, and absolutely unprepared for a chaos-loving, snack-obsessed demon to upend her world. Peri is hilarious, mischievous, and unexpectedly endearing, and their back-and-forth banter is pure gold. Every exchange feels natural, witty, and laugh-out-loud funny.

The spice is bold without being overwhelming—sexy, playful, and refreshingly honest. The sex club scenes and paranormal elements push boundaries in the best way, while Mawg’s internal struggle with confidence and desire grounds the story in something deeply human. And that dark-haired Irish stranger? Let’s just say the chemistry is undeniable and the voice alone deserves its own fan club.

What truly elevates this book is how relatable it is—especially for readers who don’t often see themselves as the “chosen one” in paranormal or spicy stories. It’s about second chances, embracing desire without shame, and discovering that life doesn’t end at forty-five—it finally gets interesting.

Funny, spicy, heartfelt, and unexpectedly empowering, The Adventures of Peri and Mawg is a wildly entertaining ride that proves chaos, confidence, and a little demon interference can change everything. Highly recommended.

TAoPAM ARC review

I had so much fun reading this book. The level of insecurity and inner struggle felt by main character were so relatable. Spice level 5+.

Mawg goes through a true midlife transformation from frumpy to femme fatale. She makes new friends including a demon and a dangerously handsome Irishman.

Mawgaret, or Mawg to her friends, is the definition of a middle aged wallflower. Mawg wants to fade into the background. Only 44 years young, she dresses in drab, neutral clothing with practical loafers. There is no excitement, no love life and no career advancement at her marketing job she can see in her future.

On her 45th birthday, she’s introduced to the perimenopause stage of her life by a Change demon named Peri, who now lives in her left big toe and says he will be hanging around for approximately the next decade. Peri manages to get Mawg fired on his first day with her by taking over her body and telling off her boss for calling on a PTO day.

The adventure continues with Peri introducing Mawg to clothing designer and shop owner Tori, who sets Mawg up with a killer outfit for a night out on the town. Tori recommends for Mawg to visit The Church and ask for Gina. What happens next, including finding out exactly what kind of adult members-only club Gina manages leads Mawg into a journey of self discovery with Peri as her snarky sidekick demon.

Hearing the summary of this book you would never expect the epic plot built in this masterpiece. The thought of a demon possessing a person’s toe and her getting a job at a sex club? Sounds crazy. Little did I know picking this book up it would become one of my favorite of all time reads. It is so heavily layered with comedy that had me cackling, romance that had me taking brief pauses to catch my breath, and an air of magic that is undeniably intriguing but doesn’t take center stage to the underlying themes of the story. This book doesn’t just instill self-confidence, it screams it from the roof tops. If you are looking for a hilarious and spicy book that teaches you to love yourself and believe in yourself no matter your looks or age, this book is 100000% for you. I laughed so hard I cried and the relatable topics in this book hits home. Jen didn’t just rock it, she knocked it out of the park! Drop what you are reading and read this book, you truly won’t be sorry! 5 stars! If I could give more I most definitely would!
