Sage McKenna likes to be in charge. In fact, without her as the driving force, the town of Evansville, Texas, wouldn’t be undergoing such a transformation. She's the one steering the revitalization of downtown, keeping her fingers in as many pies as she can reach—renovating shops on the square, running the Sagebrush Saloon, making plans for a bed and breakfast. She’s busy night and day, unwilling to give up control of any of her ventures. She certainly has no time for love.
Musician Flynn Tscheulin is trying to build a name for himself, playing his music at small bars across Texas, following his dream. The Sagebrush Saloon in Evansville still smells of sawdust when he pulls in for his three-night commitment. The uptight blonde who runs the place is nothing like he expected, and he’d love to delve beneath her cool exterior and find her inner fire.
One night shakes up all the carefully laid plans, and the two have to adjust the future they’d envisioned. Can they make room for each other?
I really hope there's another round or two of editing though, was a bit rough, but it didn't deter too much. I also would've liked to know Flynn's age since Sage was 28, but there were only references to his being older, a late baby himself, and his parents being in their 80s.
And loved the epilogue, wrapped up the story really well! Not sure if this is part of a series, but I would totally read more.
I like this series but Sage? I didn't like her in the first 2 books and I didn't like her here. I kept waiting for there to be some big reveal about why she's always been such a b*tch but there never was one. When confronted about being a "mean girl" in high school her response was, "It was HIGH SCHOOL." as if that makes it okay somehow to be a cruel to others as she was. Had a hard time with this one.
The main characters of this story are great. Both wrong and smart but yet so different. I read this in one sitting on a rainy day. I love how the new story entwines with the previous characters from the first 2 books. What a great community is developing in these stories. On to #4 now.
Great love story with lots of twist and turns. She was help on wheels working to get a Boom Town back on its feet and falls in love with a musician and because pregnant what will the town think.
Our heroine is strong willed, stubborn, and doesn't know what she wants. Our hero is laid back, talented, and going after his dream. They clash and come together.....over and over. Will it last? Highly recommend
Sage is a business woman trying to restore old buildings into giving Evansville, TX a place where tourist would come. The town has the oil rig men who stay in a RV park that Sage created. She also owns one of the bars in town and hires singers to come and play. In walks Flynn and she does not know why but is attracted to him. The story tell how their relationship develops and the situation she finds herself in. This is the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone. The book is good
I've really enjoyed this series, but this was my least favorite so far. Sage is depicted as a mean girl in the other books, so I found it difficult to like her or empathize with her in this book. Sage meets musician Flynn and what seems to be a short-lived fling turns into something more. I love the small-town Texas references, and I *love* when my hometown is mentioned in the book. :)
