Bones for the Longest Night: Solstice in Bone and Velvet Volume II

Rate this book
In Mistwood Cove, the brightest night belongs to the worst man in town.

Ethan

Most people treat the holidays like armor, fairy lights, charity drives, and spiced drinks to keep the dark at bay. I know better. In Mistwood Cove, the dark gets into everything. It hangs on the missing-person flyers, hums under the carols, curls in the smoke from the Yule bonfire.

I keep watch. I stir the town up from behind burner accounts, pry at their grief, collect their secrets. I know which husbands drink too much, which wives hate their kids, which golden girls are one bad night away from vanishing. This year, I’ve picked my project.

Maren Vale is the town’s sweetheart. Yoga at the rec center, cookies at every fundraiser, the smiling face on every Yule post. Women like her never see men like me… unless you make them. I’ve got my house at the edge of the cove, my tools, my careful plans. When she comes over before the bonfire, she’ll think it’s just a drink to take the chill off.

By the time the town lights their candles and sings for the ones they’ve already lost, I’ll have done what no one else here has the stomach to do. They’ll never know what really happened on the longest night.

Bones for the Longest Night is a standalone adult Yule horror novella about a small town drunk on ritual, a man that relishes in being a predator, and the old hunger waiting under winter’s prettiest lights. Expect cold shores, hot spite, intimate terror, and a holiday story that doesn’t flinch when the dark finally looks back.

Allauren Willowgrave writes New Adult erotica with a dark bend, leaning into erotic horror and shadowed romance.

Allauren lives in British Columbia with her beloved husband and her cat, Hobbes. She likes her stories steamy, kinky, and edged with unease, the stranger and creepier the better. When she is not writing, she is usually watching paranormal videos or unsettling YouTube deep dives, getting attached to quirky Korean dramas, rereading classic gothic horror, or disappearing into an MMO. Most days you will find her at her PC, half in her next crooked little dream of a story, half logged into whatever world she is currently adventuring through.

He picked the wrong woman to make his project.

Ethan lives at the edge of Mistwood Cove, watching from the dark, stirring up secrets through burner accounts and smug superiority. He sees everything, especially her. Maren, the town's golden girl with perfect cookies and perfect smiles, is the kind of woman he thinks he can unmask, control, and claim.

While the town strings up lights and plans its Yule bonfire, Ethan builds something darker. He sets the scene, lays the trap, and convinces himself she's prey wrapped in holiday cheer. But Maren isn't what she seems. She notices him. She plays along.

When she steps into his house on the longest night, the dynamic twists. She lets him think he's leading. She lets him talk, touch, test her limits. Then she starts to smile. And the story Ethan thinks he's telling begins to fall apart.

Ethan starts as a predator drunk on control, but obsession strips him bare. Maren, all warmth and light at first glance, is hiding something colder and far more ancient. Their connection crackles with tension, shifting from one-sided fixation to something far more intimate and terrifying.

A dark, violent stalker horror with a predator-becomes-prey twist, supernatural Yule ritual, and one hell of a final girl. This eldritch erotica explores predation, performance, power, trauma, gender, and the illusion of control. It’s about what happens when the hunted stops playing along and winter finally answers back.

The Elevator Pitch: A dark erotic horror where a predator sets his sights on the town's brightest light, unaware he's walking straight into something ancient and hungry. Wrapped in Yule cheer and small-town ritual, their twisted connection builds toward a reckoning neither can escape. It's intimate, violent, and soaked in the kind of power that doesn't let go.

"Not every disappearance is a loss. Some are an answer the living will not hear. Some are a name the night chooses not to give back."

"You look surprised. That's adorable."~Maren☠️

Here is another eerie and unsettling chapter in the Solstice in Bone and Velvet series. These short stories are standalones but to get a better understanding, you might want to consider reading the first book. It definitely sets up the mood and unexplained happenings in this book world. This story picks up a year later, after Lila Montgomery disappeared one cold night. It's the Yule season again in Mistwood Cove. And the shadows still watch as Ethan tries to control his drives and keep his secrets hidden. He is not a nice person.

As a reader, you know there is something wrong, that something is gaining horrible momentum the more Ethan keeps a watchful eye on a woman named Maren Vale. Not everything is as it appears in this small town, in more ways than one. I don't want to spoil anything. Just know that sometimes when a person thinks they have the upper hand, something more sinister is sent to balance the scales.🔪☠️⚖️☠️🔪 A reckoning in all its unnatural form.😱

🚩🚩Read the TWs. There are situations here that might be triggering. This is for adult readers.🚩🚩

I want to know more. Ms Willowgrave has weaved more storytelling steps and the thing is, you don't know where's she leading you as a reader. Which I love. Think of these books as classic Twilight Zone episodes and Tales From the Crypt combined for unnerving nightmare fuel. Looking forward to the next one. Happy reading. *•>§<•*🪦🥀🪦🥀🪦🦂

Book 2 of the Solstice in Bone and Velvet series.

The characters were oh so dark and complex and compelling. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. All in all a great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.

After reading and absolutely loving The Stag of Midwinter, I decided to grab the next short story in this series as well, and it did not disappoint.

I am obsessed with Allauren Willowgrave's writing style. The way she paints a picture is just ... chef's kiss 🤌✨️ Atmospheric and sinister, each word impactful, almost lyrical. A real treat to read.

I loved the characters and story here, too. Spicy serial killer vibes with an unexpected supernatural twist. If you don’t mind gory body horror and sinister topics, I highly highly recommend this!

I'd say it can be read as a standalone pretty well but having read the previous story did add to the experience greatly, giving more context.
