I would start by saying that this book is appropriately classified as teen & true YA. The guardians checking reviews to see if it’s okay for their teens should note that the furthest the romance progresses on page is a kiss!
This is a short read at a couple of hundred pages so there isn’t the depth you’d see in a fantasy twice this size. It did take a bit for me to find a good reading flow. I think it’s mostly due to the fact that the dialogue feels unnatural and the dynamics just feel off, somehow. There were a few things that were repeated a few times, sometimes in ways that were inconsistent, which is why I went with a 2 star.
I love the concept of this book! The werewolves vs vampires vs humans in one city sounds just like a book I’d enjoy. There were a few moments that genuinely surprised me with the plot. I enjoyed the first meeting of the love interests, too. Raphael just wanted all the good things in life & Liliana truly just wanted a more free life.
In all, decent and quick read.
