This book doesn’t sugarcoat anything. It clearly lays out the difference between God’s holiness and our humanity, while also pointing out the subtle, everyday ways we try to take back control and undermine His sovereignty. It’s practical and humbling in the right way. A short read that makes you think long after you close it.

Good introduction to the sovereignty of God in all things! Great read. Would work for a small group study as well.

"This sovereignty of God is the ground of peace and confidence to all his people. They rejoice that the Lord God omnipotent reigneth; that neither necessity, nor chance, nor the folly of man, nor the malice of Satan controls the sequence of events and all their issues. Infinite wisdom, love, and power, belong to Him, our great God and Saviour, into whose hands all power in heaven and earth has been committed." -Charles Hodge

This short book lives up to its title. The author teaches on the subject of the sovereignty of God from the scriptures with accuracy and simplicity which makes it easy to understand. He also answers questions like, "If God is sovereign why evangelize?"and "If God is sovereign, why pray?"

This was mostly a review of the subject matter for me but is a good book to read if you haven't thought much about this subject so I will round my rating up to four stars.

“God is God, and I’m Not: How God’s Sovereignty Matters Every Day,” by Dr. Timothy Z. Witmer, was advertised on Facebook, and caught my eye because of the catchy title. It’s not a long book, only 181 pages of text, and it’s not an in-depth theological look at the doctrine of God’s Sovereignty; but it is a precise, pastoral survey of how the doctrine should affect our everyday lives. Maybe it was because of my present life situation, but it was a very encouraging book to me; and Witmer’s years as a pastor and seminary professor are evident in his organization and writing style.

God's Providence Clearly on Display

The sovereignty of God is highly debated and not fully understood. Witmer unpacks this doctrine and explains why it should be celebrated. Without God's sovereignty we have no Goal.
