Isabelle Montague lives in a quaint town in central Pennsylvania with her husband, three kids, and their dogs. By day, she manages the beautiful chaos of family life, but by night, she escapes into worlds of steamy MM romance and omegaverse stories.
As an artist and comic creator, Isabelle specializes in writing about broken characters finding their way to love, with plenty of angst along the way. After four years of developing her craft, she is finally taking the reins to publish her work. When she isn't writing or wrangling her kids, she can be found sketching character art or rewatching her favorite anime for the hundredth time.
Listen… do you like M/M... do you like alpha/omega vibes, do you love a good knotting spice scene? Then this book is ABSOLUTELY for you. Did Isabelle Montague absolutely know exactly what kind of story she wanted to tell—and deliver on it? Yes, and that’s what made this such an addictive read.
You can really feel Montague’s strength in how she writes emotion. The tension, the betrayal, the push and pull between characters—it all feels very intentional. She leans into the angst and lets it simmer, which makes every interaction feel charged and meaningful.
Her character work is easily the standout. Even when the plot leans into familiar tropes, it never feels tired because of how much depth she gives to the relationships. She writes messy, layered dynamics so well—no one feels overly simple, and that complexity keeps you hooked.
And the romance? She knows her audience. It’s intense, trope-forward, and full of that addictive tension that makes you keep turning pages. You can tell she understands exactly what readers in this space are craving and delivers on it.
Overall, this feels like an author who is confident in her voice and unapologetic about the kind of story she wants to tell—and that confidence translates into a book that’s incredibly easy to devour.
My first omegaverse romance, and I’m honoured that it could be for my girl, Isabelle, even if I was still trying to still understand its whole dynamic; I absolutely loved Evan and Gregory’s story!
Evan is murdered and wakes up in an omgea’s body, a soul exchange for a better term, and in another world. There he meets unhinged Gregory, his fated possessive alpha mate, and honestly things went from insane to crazy; their chemistry was insane and they were polar opposites, all while adjusting to the fact that Evan’s soul is not the same one who they once knew.
There was a lot of backstory and world building, and I loved how much attention to detail there was in this; Isabelle done an exceptional job crafting and creating this world, even if there were at times I was a little puzzled by things, I was able to make sense of what was happening and I was mesmerised by it all.
Have I said how much I adored Evan and Gregory, omgg my heart, they absolutely have my heart!!
I’m honestly so excited for what Isabelle has in store for this series, these characters, I’m so intrigued and excited for the second book, for Harren and Nicolai and their explosive story!!

Emberfall is the 1st book in the Fire and Shadows series by Isabelle Montague.
So, here’s the thing, if you like M/M, and alpha/omega vibes, and you love a great knotting spice scene? Then I can promise you that this is the book you have been searching for. Isabelle Monague went into writing Emberfall knowing exactly what she wanted to write and the story that she wanted to tell – and she absolutely delivered on it perfectly. And that’s what made this book such an enthralling read.
“Emberfall” is the kind of book that pushes you and pushes your boundaries. After Evan falls forty-two stories, he wakes to find himself in this new medieval magical world. More than that he finds that he’s no longer the ruthless executive that he’s always been. Suddenly he finds he’s in the body of an omega who’s been claimed by this grumpy, morally gray alpha who’s far to handsome for his own good.
Isabelle breaks our hearts right in the first chapter. Evan realizes that Gregory knows him, and Gregory talks to him like they’ve known each other for years. The thing is, Evan doesn’t know who Gregory is, he has zero memories of who he is or the past they obviously share. As Gregory and Evan spend more and more time together, Gregory finally realizes that while the body in front of him is the Evan he’s known for years and is his fated mate, but he finally realizes that the personality, spirit, Soul has been swapped and this new version of Evan, this could be his second chance to actually makes things right and have a real chance to have a future with his fated mate.
Gregory: He’s your typical brooding, morally grey, grumpy alpha dragon shifter. He’s also a fugitive who has a price on his head. For the last few years, he’s been pushing his fated mate Evan away, convinced that he’s a spy. Because of this he rejected his fated mate Evan.
Evan: He was a CEO, a ruthless executive who fought and climbed his way to the top of the corporate ladder, but after falling forty-two stories he found himself waking up in this magical medieval world in the body of an omega, a body that isn’t his. He’s someone who’s ambitious, used to fighting for what he wants, and winning and getting what he wants in the end.
In the end both Even and Gregory find love in each other and in each other’s arms and it is well deserved, well earned, and fought for. They have suffered through a lot of pain, gone through a lot of suffer and they’ve endured a life trying to get what they want and finally they have found peace in each other.
The way that Isabelle writes, you can feel the strength of her emotion. The tension, betrayal, all the push and pull between all of the characters – you can tell each word, emotion, it’s all done intentionally. Isabelle leans into all the angst and lets it simmer under the surface making all the interactions between the characters feel extra charged and meaningful.
One of the things that really stood out to me was the character development, the character growth, and the character arcs. And when placed next to the storyline, the plot, the sub-plots standing next to all the familiar tropes that Isabella used was absolutely perfect. And yet, it never felt tired over used because of all the depth that Isabelle gave to all the relationships, especially the depth between our two main male characters Evan and Gregory. Isabelle writes these layered dynamics that are messy perfectly – and there’s not a single layer that feels simple, and every layer keeps you enthralled, hooked and reading.
And then there’s the romance that Isabelle gives us, and boy let me tell you that she knew the audience that she was writing for. The romance is intense, she used the right tropes, and it’s full of all that addictive tension that enthralled me and had me turning the pages till I finally read the last page. And you could tell that Isabelle understood exactly what the MM readers wanted in this space, what the readers truly wanted and were craving, and she delivered on it.
Isabelle is the kind of author who is confident in her voice, she’s unapologetic about the kind of story that she wants to tell – she has total confidence in the translation into her book that’s incredibly easy to read and eat up.
This is such a beautiful and ambitious book and start to a new series. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and I really hope that we get to see more of Gregory and Evan, especially as I do have a few theories about Evan that I want to see if they are right or not. I love this couple, I love this world, I love the writing and I can’t wait to see more.
If you love MM, strong characters, an amazing world, strong writing, then Emberfall is the book that you’re going to want to read ASAP! Trust me, you’re going to fall in love with this book.
A few of my favorite quotes are:
“That’s it, be good for me”
“You’re not a monster. You’re my beast”
“You only lose when you forget to be yourself”
“I’m mated to the Dragon Lord. His fire floods through my veins”
“How strong are you, then? I held his stare as I made the promise. ‘Enough to burn the world for you.”
“I was ready to turn the soil into a funeral tyre worthy of him. The world would burn as tribute.”
Thank you to Isabelle Montague and Twisted Chaos for selecting me as an ARC reviewer.
I had high expectations of this book and did not disappoint! This book reminded me of For Us, the Living: A Comedy of Customs by Robert Heinlein. Am I comparing a 1939 book to an omegaverse romance story? Yes, yes I am. I really loved the concept of the soul-swapping of the Evans, and that the new Evan was from “our” timeline. This book really hooked me from page one, it was engaging, entertaining, hopeful, and sometimes frustrating in the best way possible. This book really shows second chances, found family, and fighting for what you love. Ugh, my poor heart!
Evan was a successful businessman, but a very broken and lonely one, and after being yoinked to the new world, he gets an opportunity to live again. I loved how his natural softness and his learned hardheadedness helped him navigate both a very challenging mate and an unknown world. The lessons from Anita, his foster guardian, and the memories of his mother as a soft entity really reflect who he could have been if he didn't go down the path of cut-throat business, and he lets it show once he’s in the new world. I do have to suspend my disbelief on how quickly he was ok with being in a body that worked very differently, and I wish the book explored more of him learning about what it means to be an omega. My dude, you have a womb now, are you not even curious!? Now, my dear Gregory, you are worthy of love! Gregory being a big romantic softie was so sweet. I think he has more growth to do, although he did show some throughout the book. I hope book 2 shows how else he has evolved.
The universe, and its magic system felt at times confusing. I hope book 2 dives deeper on that part, since it seems that everyone had the same power, except the A-team. As for the book, I feel the romantic pace for fated mates was very fast but the subplot was slower until about 85% of the book, then all the action happened at once. It was quite a change of pace.
Additional notes: - “You think you don't deserve happiness because you're alive and she’s not. You think you have to carry that guilt forever” - this quote destroyed me! Anita, the real angel of this story. - Evan can cook!? - Still curious on Adam’s backstory - WHO IS THE JESTER!? - I want to meet the goddesses, just because.
This book had me gripped from the first chapter. I loved Evan’s personality and how he evolved with his new life. He let go and it was beautiful. Gregory’s transformation was an emotional one. His acceptance in the end was a beautiful one to witness.
I’m ready for book 2. I can’t wait for the Alphahole trope with Nicolai.

Thank you to Isabelle Montague and Everafter PR for the opportunity to read this unique story.
Evan Ashwyck built his life on hostile takeovers in the New York business world. Doing everything he can to erase the memories of his childhood. The night he learns that he’s finally earned the corner office, he is attacked and falls 42 stories to end his chances at more. However, instead of endless darkness, he wakes in a body that is not his own, in a world full of magic and the exact opposite of his New York highrise.
Gregory is an outcast in hiding. He was destined to be the protector of the world, but the Empire shattered that. He’s determined to be alone and pushed his mate away. Until Evan nearly drowns in the lake and Gregory leaves him injured. After rescuing Evan from the brutal storm and nursing him back to health, Gregory discovers that he is not the same man that he pushed away each and every time before, As the two come to terms with their new life and each other, theEmpire and nightmares from their past come to destroy their safety.
This was my first dive into an omegaverse story and I found it interesting. The magic system and dynamics that Isabelle Montague created had me wanting to see more. The only issue that I seemed to have with the book was how Evan’s character could have been interchanged with a female. It felt like she had to keep reminding us that he was a man rather than a woman and it kind of broke up the story for me. Regardless, I enjoyed the story and would read more of her books. The relationships she wove around Evan and Gregory were unique, supportive, and created a sense of family for both of these lost souls.

I received an advanced copy of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The above opinions are my own.
An emotional roller-coaster etched onto paper. This debut novel is so good. I received this as an ARC, and I am willingly leaving a review. Cause girl, this story is too good to not be reviewed.
Sweet! Everyone is so sweet in this novel except a very few mean nuts that will be taken care of in their due time.
Evan, Gregory's sweet omega. My lonely CEO finally finding the family he never had and finally getting something worth fighting for. I love him so much, defiant, resilient and subsequently very self-assured. Him accepting being an omega without ever thinking they were weak was very nice to see. I am glad he was able to stand and defend his mate when the time came.
Gregory, Evan's self-hating alpha. The alpha that laid down his life for the very omega he rejected so many times. It was good to see him leave his cowardice behind and finally embrace the bond with Evan even though it took Evan nearly dying to see it.
These two mates are perfect together despite their flaws
And for the supporting characters. They became the family Evan and Gregory craved, despite them being outsiders these people stood by their side till the end of it all even though their lives were in danger. From cherry loud Lyra, Brooding Adam, maternal Genevieve, smooth Willian, Spiteful Harren all the way to the unhinged bastard Nicolai, all these people really pulled through for them. It was the perfect found family with lots of flaws.
As for the supposed villains of the story, it was painful to see them turn against their fellow victims leaving the empire untouched same in real life instead of fighting the main culprits of misfortunes that befall us, we turn against each other instead aiding the very cause that hurt us.
All in all, I really enjoyed reading their book. It was a solid 4.5 stars for me. If you like the found family trope and omegaverse this book is definitely for you, you won't ever regret picking it up.
I will definitely read the next book in the series because Harren and Nicolai better have an explanation for their mean ass behaviours.
Thank you Twisted Chaos PR and the author for the ARC <3
“Emberfall” pushes the reader, just as it pushes Evan into a different world straight during the first chapter. The first encounter between Evan and Gregory couldn’t be more heartbreaking. Gregory clearly knows Evan, as he talks to him like they’ve known each other for a long time, but Evan has no memory of Gregory or the place he’s being thrown. The more time passes, Gregory realizes the person in front of him looks like Evan, is named Evan, but he is nothing like the Evan he knows. This new version of Evan is his second chance to make things right.
“Emberfall” is by all means more of a paranormal/fantasy book than an omegaverse. It still has some elements to it, but its main focus is definitely the fantasy world. The world in itself is complex and we have a lot to explore in this series, in this first book we got a few glimpses to make sense of Evan and Gregory’s story, but we can see that there are some elements that will be explored further.
Both Evan and Gregory were characters that I enjoyed. Gregory is the typical brooding alpha, but he has rejected Evan before. Although from what I understood, the other Evan was not someone who was easy to love. He didn’t fight for Gregory, he was probably very influenced by other people. So when Gregory realizes that this Evan is not the Evan he knows, I don’t want to say he changes, but he does. The thing is, Evan also changed. Evan is someone who is ambitious, who is usually used to winning and fights for what he wants. So when he sees he wants Gregory, they cannot escape their attraction. Gregory becomes much sweeter to Evan, because Evan has made him that way. They both find love in each other arms through pain, they both have endured a life trying to get what they wanted. Evan to win the position at the company so he could fulfill the promise he made to his mother, and Gregory trying to survive in a world that hates him. But Gregory takes care of Evan, he adores Evan and has been trying to fight against his nature because he believes Evan deserves much better. This Evan has no idea what he deserves, so he sees in Gregory someone who is sheltering him, pampering him, doing things that nobody has done for him in forever. In the middle of darkness, both find in each other reasons to fight for their happy ending.
“Emberfall” is an ambitious start to a series, but overall it starts with good promise! I am curious about the next book, and I hope to see more of Evan and Gregory, especially since I have some theories about Evan! I like that couple, but the world build will be the same.
"Emberfall" by Isabelle Montague is an MM Omegaverse romance set in a medieval/classically fantasy world that is a twin to our own.
The main character, Evan, finds himself transported from his ordinary life as a CEO and into the body of an Omega.
Ratings: Overall: 4/5 hearts - This book is an enjoyable read and a must-read for lovers of the Omegaverse trope. There's romance, forced proximity, MPREG, breeding kink, and more!
But it's not your average Omegaverse novel, there's also magic and a well crafted world and plenty of enjoyable side characters.
Peppers: 3/5 - Plenty of spice in the later half of the book, but don't expect the "insta-sex" that occurs in many Omegaverse novels.
Spice: 4/5 - The spice is great, it's sexy, a little rough, a little sweet, and has the standard heat cycles and breeding kinks that you'd expect in any Omegaverse setting.
Plot: 4/5 - Storyline: I really enjoyed the storyline of the story. I loved the unique spin of a "normal" human being thrust into this Omegaverse, magical World. Other than the pacing seeming a little off (slow in some places, fast in others), there's not a lot to complain about.
- Characters: Both main characters are well done. I'm a sucker for SHOWN character growth so seeing Evan transform from a lonely businessman to a fulfilled, happy family man over the course of the story? Perfection.
And then you have Gregory, a good hearted man with trauma and anger in his past. He goes from this monstrous person to a fierce protector.
That's not even including the interesting side characters!
- Writing: I have no notes other than the pacing issues I experienced (which are likely a me thing). The writing is well done, super smooth, and easy to read.

This was my first omegaverse read, and I’m still not totally sure the genre is for me, but I did end up enjoying this overall. 4.5 stars!
The premise is that Evan is a human beta whose soul gets swapped after he gets "eliminated" in the human world and falls from his penthouse apt 40 stories in the air, and then woke up in this medieval world where he is now a dragon's mate. Gregory is the said dragon alpha mate. Needless to say this all made for a really interesting dynamic. The beginning felt a little slow and kind of choppy IMO (I can’t quite explain why - it was probably just me so don't take too much stock into it), but around the halfway point it really picked up and I got much more invested in their story. I especially liked the hurt/comfort, found family vibes, and the whole fated mates/forced proximity situation. Evan's snarkiness and Gregory's "touch him and die" vibes were hilarious to experience. I also especially loved Gregory's and Adam's relationship and Evan/Lyra's. The found family trope was really good in this book! OH and I cannot forget Genevieve! She was a hoot. I also loved that everyone went out of their way to make sure that Evan felt accepted - I mean Adam making him Christmas lights for the cabin?! <3
Now, the “he can get pregnant” trope was definitely… uhh... new for me, and probably the part that makes me question if omegaverse is my thing. But overall, I’m glad I read it and I can see why people who enjoy grumpy alpha dynamics and emotional romance would like this one! I am excited to give the next one a read when it comes out! :)
Thanks to Isabelle and TwistedChaos for allowing me to have this as an ARC read!

ARC Reader For me, the book went through stages of catching my attention, then losing it-- and over and over. I enjoyed the book, don't get me wrong. Though some parts of it were more interesting than others were to read. The storybuilding, the characters-- they were great. The concept of it all was great. Though some parts, especially at the beginning, were hard for me to engage fully with. I love the relationship and the story building behind the mates of Evan and Gregory. I love the concept of the Alpha and Omega concept. Always will be a sucker for MM romances as well. Throw in dragons and transportation of souls-- wonderful concept. Though I did spend a lot of the book confused. We got Gregory, who is a dragon shifter, and Nicolai, who is a wolf shifter. Though what are the others? Magic is involved, yes. The concept of alpha, omega, and beta is explained as being secondary genders-- but usually the concept is implied with wolves or some other various shifter. For me, I have mainly just engaged in wolf shifter novels with a sprinkle of dragons. Though wolves are more common than dragons. This concept is one of my biggest questions when it comes to the structure of this novel's worldbuilding. Was it bad? No. Though I just can't bring myself to give it five stars when certain things just felt like they didn't mesh as well as others. Am I looking forward to the next book? Most definitely.
First, I want to thank Twisted Chaos PR and Isabelle Montague for the gifted eARC copy of Emberfall to give my honest and spoiler free review!
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My Thoughts:
What would you do if one day, you finally get to where you want to be in life with your job and the course you took to get there only to be hunted down and killed? However instead of being killed you wake up in a strange world surrounded by people you don’t know, magic everywhere, and being in a body that definitely isn’t yours?
The premise alone for this book immediately pulled me in from the very beginning. Evan and Gregory both had my heart because they both are dealing with a huge moment in their life that changed everything for both of them. Not only did Evan have to get used to this new world that he woke up in, but he also had to learn everything about magic and what it means to be mates with someone. Gregory, a tough brutal man who spent his life pushing his mate away only to almost lose him and want to protect him even if he is no longer the man he once knew.
The world building and the characters in this story were amazing and I was thoroughly entertained the entire time that I was reading. I loved the omegaverse MM plot as well and felt that it worked out really well between Evan and Gregory. This is only book one so you can bet I’ll be keeping my eye out for the second book as well!
My expectations were sky-high for this book, and Isabelle Montague absolutely delivered. Strong characters, a magical world, and all the feelings combined make for a beautiful, epic story.
Evan is a CEO in our world. For years, he has worked to become the successful person he promised his mother he would be. On the day he finally has it all, someone murders him, but instead of dying, he is transported to his twin soul’s world, where he meets Gregory (swoon), his Dragon Lord alpha mate. Evan gets a second chance, but there are creatures in this new world who want him dead too. They’ll have to get through Gregory first, though, if they want to succeed. And that man/dragon/beast might be the most protective being in the world when it comes to his omega mate.
Isabelle Montague paints a beautiful world with medieval vibes. The setting, a picturesque town and a cabin in the mountains, creates momentum for different scenes, both romantic and action-packed. The story is written in a clear, easy-going style. It’s well-paced, and there’s strong character development. The dual POV adds to the story because you experience it through both main characters. In this way, you get a good understanding of their actions, because you know what they both think and feel, and which events in the past shaped them into who they are today.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Emberfall and would recommend adding it to your TBR immediately if you love omegaverse stories. Thank you for writing this amazing story, Isabelle! I can’t wait for book 2 to arrive.
This was such an addictive and emotional read that it completely pulled me in from the start!
The premise alone had me hooked! Evan being thrown into a completely new world and body, while also navigating magic, fate, and a mate bond, made for such a compelling story. Like seriously, it was such a unique and fun story, I was captivated. I really loved his character as well. You can feel how broken and lonely he was before, and watching him slowly open up and embrace this second chance at life was so rewarding. Evan, you had my heart. <3
Gregory was everything I wanted in a grumpy, protective alpha. He starts off rough around the edges, but the way he softens for Evan and becomes so devoted to him had me swooning. Their dynamic was full of tension, chemistry, and that fated mates pull that just works so well here. It felt just right.
The world itself felt immersive with its fantasy elements, magic, and all the lore, and I really liked the mix of cozy moments with higher stakes as the story progressed as well. Isabelle did a great job balancing those elements.
At its core, this story is about second chances, healing, and finding where you truly belong. It gave me romance, angst, found family, and just the right amount of spice to balance it all out.
Such a strong start to the series, and I am already excited for what comes next!!!
This book is amazing! Imagine you just got promoted in your job but someone decides to throw you off a building and instead of dying you are teleported to another realm and another body that shares the same name as you. Yup,that's what happened to Evan. I really liked this mixed worlds plot, it was very nice and different, really gave the isekai vibe we usually see in animes and mangas. Evan getting dropped in a whole new world, filled with magic, creatures and the omegaverse was insanely good. The author was able to mix a lot of different tropes and do it well. Evan is a strong but very broken man, lost his mom, spent his life working to get promoted while dealing with annoying people and then he gets killed. When he meets Gregory, the dragon man, he is reluctant and scared but he ends up seeing that Gregory is actually a gentle and loving soul. Gregory is also a broken man, shunned from his clan because he was not able to surpass some dragon tests, he knows that Evan is his mate but he rejected him. Now this new Evan appears in his life, a strong and fierce Evan that he never knew before and he is curious. Beside the love story we have a very well built plot around magic, goddesses and mages. The writing was good and it was easy to comprehend. I'm really curious about the next book in this series.
ARC review A Fallen Alpha, a Mysterious Omega, and a Bond That Could Destroy Them Both Gregory is the last descendant of a royal dragon bloodline. He is a feared warrior and an fugitive after the Asterian Empire slaughtered his family and turned him into their weapon. He is now hiding in a remote village. He is broken en drowning in guilt, convinced that he is too monstrous to deserve love. Until Evan stumbles into his live. Evan is sweet and kind but rejected by Gregory despite Evan's devotion. After Evan washes up half drowned with no memory of who he is Gregory is forced to confront the bond between them. Gregory is the classic “monster”, he is brooding and tormented. Drowning in guild and self loathing. His internal conflict is well portrait. It is a real struggle to be the last dragon of his bloodline. It is giving him character and depth. Evan on the other hand is more of a mystery. It would have been great to give him more of a personality and a background. The way the danger of the empire and the forbidden bond between Gregory and Even are set up is nicely done. So is the integration of the omegaverse dynamics. The way the world building was done felt a bit incomplete. The magic system is intriguing, but it is never fully explained. What are the rules? How does it work? Also, the Asterian Empire's politics are a bit vague. I'm feeling optimistic that a following book will pick up what we missed in this one.
This ended up being a very different read than I expected - but in a good way.
Going in, I was anticipating a more familiar omegaverse dynamic, but this leans much more into fantasy, world building, and character driven storytelling. The first quarter, if I’m honest, had me a bit lost. There’s a lot happening early on, and it took me a while to fully understand the world and the magic system and how Evan has came to be in the world. But once it clicked? I was completely hooked.
The dynamic between Evan and Gregory is where this book really shines. Gregory is exactly the kind of morally grey, fiercely protective alpha I love - an absolute powerhouse of a character who would burn the world down for his mate. That intensity made the romance feel high stakes and deeply emotional.
I also appreciated the blend of action and angst. There’s constant tension, both from external threats and the complicated bond between them, which kept things engaging throughout.
Overall, while the start was a little confusing and not quite what I expected, the payoff was worth it. If you enjoy fated mates with a darker, more fantasy-heavy twist - and a possessive, dragon blooded alpha - you’ll likely have a great time with this one!
This was a very commanding story with the main characters being polar opposites and it definitely is packed with tension, romance, spice, adrenaline inducing conflict.
Evan is Evan, but not Evan and thrown into a different realm after a horrible event has him completely thrown for a loop. He knows nothing of this world yet he is thrown into the middle of it as if nothing ever happened. Gregory is not who he is portrayed to be in the beginning but it takes a minute for the whole gang to figure out that Evan may not be as crazy as he sounds. After the revelation, Evan and Gregory are inseparable and taking in each other as if starting anew and it's better than ever, they are open and curious and so dedicated to each other that nothing sways them from holding hands and looking into the eyes of the threat together. Will love conquer all? Can Gregory become more than the villain in this story? Evan may be more aware now but does he have the strength to fight alongside his new family and take the hits coming?
This ending was brutal and so quick and left you unsated as this was a cliffhanger to torture! Definitely well paced, balanced spice and tenderness with lots of exterior events to keep the reader interested.
Emberfall surprised me in the best possible way. I went in curious and came out absolutely smitten. Evan, the MMC, is thrown into a completely new world after being murdered in his own—talk about an entrance. Suddenly he’s navigating alphas, betas, omegas, pheromones, and magic, and watching him learn this world felt organic and genuinely engaging.
The heart of the book, though, is the chemistry between Gregory and Evan. Gregory’s protective, possessive alpha energy paired with Evan’s sweetness was my kryptonite. Their dynamic is adorable, tender, and honestly just precious. If you love a caretaking alpha who would burn the world down for his omega, this book delivers.
The pacing had a lovely, natural flow. The story never dragged, even when the focus shifted toward character exploration. In fact, that shift worked beautifully—the emotional groundwork was laid before the plot stepped back into the spotlight. My only tiny gripe is that the ending wrapped up a bit faster than I wanted. I would’ve happily stayed in Emberfall a little longer.
Still, that doesn’t take away from how much I adored this book. I’m already counting down to book two—another interconnected standalone with new characters, and I’m absolutely ready for it.
Emberfall is packed with twists and turns, but at its heart is an epic love story that will have you swooning. It blends so many amazing elements—omegaverse, fantasy, fated mates, dragons, and magic—and honestly, what’s not to love?
Evan and Gregory completely stole my heart. Their chemistry is off the charts, their banter is perfection, and they are both insanely adorable and ridiculously hot together. And let me just say… the spice in this book? Filthy, steamy, and absolutely next level 🔥
The story also introduces some fantastic side characters that I’m already desperate to see more of. And that ending?! I was on the edge of my seat, genuinely stressed for these characters—but so satisfied with how it all wrapped up.
This was such an epic read, and I loved every single minute. I’m honestly a little sad I don’t have more Evan and Gregory to dive into.
An incredible debut by Isabelle Montague 👏

This had such an intriguing premise. Honestly ,one of the things that hooked me straight away. A high-powered CEO waking up in the body of an omega? I was in.
What really worked for me was the romance. I love a broody, possessive MMC, and Gregory delivered, but what made him stand out was the softness underneath. He’s strong, but also vulnerable, and that balance made him feel more real. The care, the tenderness, the quieter moments between them… those were my favourite parts. It wasn’t just intense, it had heart.
Their dynamic had that mix of sweetness and tension that kept me turning pages, and I genuinely enjoyed their story.
I do think the book had the potential to be something even bigger. There were moments where the world and backstory felt like they could have been explored more deeply, and a few things I wanted more clarity on. It sometimes felt like there was a richer, more expansive story just out of reach.
That said, I still had a really good time with this. It’s an enjoyable read with a strong emotional core and a romance that leans into both intensity and tenderness, which I always love.
Isabelle Montague delivers a compelling tale of second chances and fated bonds that hooks the reader from the opening pages. The transition of Evan from a driven modern-day CEO to an omega in a magical realm provides a fascinating "fish out of water" perspective that is both grounded and high-stakes. The emotional weight of the story rests on Gregory, a hardened Dragon Lord whose regret over previously pushing his mate away transforms into a fierce, protective devotion. Watching Gregory embrace his instincts to shield Evan from the shadows of this new world is incredibly satisfying, especially as they navigate the fear of a bond almost lost. This story masterfully blends the grit of a corporate climb with the wonder of a medieval-inspired fantasy world. Montague’s clear writing style and vivid descriptions of mountain cabins and picturesque towns create a perfect backdrop for a soul-stirring romance that excels in both character development and tension. Between the immersive world-building and the deep dive into the characters' pasts through dual perspectives, this novel stands out as a polished, heart-wrenching, and truly epic read.
I completely fell in love with Evan and Gregory and the story they built together. Watching Evan go from feeling like he had no one in his corner to being surrounded by so much love, loyalty, and found family absolutely wrecked me in the best way. Every character brought something meaningful to his journey, and it was so beautifully done.
And that light scene… I don’t even have the words. It was one of the most emotional moments in the book, for sure — such a stunning way to show acceptance, love, and belonging.
The ending?? I was THIS close to throwing my book across the room thinking the absolute worst… but thank goodness we got our HEA because I would not have recovered otherwise.
If you love: ✨ MM fantasy romance ✨ Fated mates ✨ Grumpy x sunshine ✨ Alpha/omega dynamics ✨ Found family that will own your heart
—you NEED to pick this up. Trust me, you will not regret it.
I’m already counting down the days until book two because I am not ready to leave this world just yet.
I loved reading about this new world Evan reincarnated into. I liked how Evan found a home where he belongs. And doesn’t have to rely on himself anymore. Also, I like the fact that he respected Evan, the original owners body’s wishes and helped him find the piece that he needed. Then there’s Gregory. He’s so misunderstood. I like how he was able to be his true self with Evan. And that he’s also learning to accept help. Also, the chemistry is off the chart with these two. They are faded mates with a strong bond. Also, like how Evan is so accepting of this change. With being a strong Omega. Then Gregory may be the unholy alpha, but he proved to everyone that they were all wrong. And that he can be something more than what the emperor made him. For them being together I love the fact that they sense mark each other a lot. Also, they are so possessive of each other. Then the village itself has so many amazing people. That will stand with these two and believe there power. The ending made me so excited for what’s to come in the series. I cannot wait to read the second book.
A MM omegaverse story? Sign me up immediately. This was a fun read! It felt like I was reading a light novel of a webtoon. It’s an isekai, which I will always eat up. The story is different than most omegaverse stories. Usually, it’s about wolves, but this story involves dragons and mages, very unique. I think that Evan and Gregory have amazing chemistry and complement each other well.
Evan, who was once a tough corporate man from New York, is now in an omega body in a magical medieval world after falling from forty-two stories. He is claimed by a grumpy morally grey alpha who is obsessed with his omega, but his omega's soul isn't his own.
The two have great character development by the end of the book. Evan embraces his new soft nature as an omega and Gregory will do anything to protect his omega.
The world building is great too, it was a lot, but it's understandable since it's the first book in this series. I was a bit confused sometimes with the magic system.
Thank you Isabelle Montague for writing this book an EverAfter PR for this ARC!
Ok, this book had me hooked! When Evan wakes up in a weird world after being murdered in his world, he begins to find out so many things. Twin souls in twin worlds, both Evan, both Conduits, the Empire’s greatest weapon. Evan’s mom died in his world, but this Evan's mom may still be alive, he must find her and save her. The journey Evan went through in this book, getting to know the new him, his powers, getting to know and trust his mate, Gregory, getting bonded, the search for his mom, the war to save his new world, WOW!!!! Then the last few chapters, what an emotional rollercoaster!!! I cried, so many tissues were used! And his mom's statement….. “Baby,” she said, her thumbs brushing away my tears. “No matter the world, I will always be your mom.” Wow!!! Then Nicolai revealing he is from his old world and needs Evan to return, what a freaking cliffhanger!!!! I need the next book now please!!!!!
MM, Omegaverse and Isekai... Do I need to say more?
This is the first book of interconnected standalones, where we meet Evan, an omega from another world and Gregory, a dragon-blooded alpha.
The world, plot and romance brought me a nostalgia of the times, years ago, when my obsession was reading manhwas and webtoons. I would have preferred if it were more of a slow burn, but it is still a classic omegaverse. Possessive alpha, knots and heats. There were still a few points where I got a bit confused in the story but it was still overall a great read!
Besides the main pair I also enjoyed meeting Harren and Nicolai and was very hopeful to get a story of them. Which fortunately it's going to happen in the second book! 😌👌
So it's been some time since I read an M/M omegaverse and this did not disappoint! 😍 Evan wakes up, after being shot, in a completely new world full of magic and alphas/omegas. Gregory has been pushing Evan away for the last two years but this man in his mate's body isn't the same man he's been denying before! They must work together to find out why and how Evan has been transported into this world while also trying to stay hidden from those who would cause them harm! This book was filled with a great storyline, beautiful world-building, meaningful side characters and spice that will leave you blushing! 🤭 I highly recommend reading this if you're a fan of M/M, omegaverse, knotting, fated mates and want a storyline that isn't just filled with spice! 💕
If you love a M/M fated mate read you will find everything you are looking for in this book. Dax falls really hard and when he realizes he belongs to a morally grey dragon things really spice up. The characters in this book are written with outstanding style. The feelings they invoke will have you hooked. Tension, attraction, vulnerability it’s all right there. There is great chemistry between these two and the spicy scenes are amplified by the way the author has written these characters. This is the first time I have read this author and was utterly impressed with how she took the typical story line and enhanced it. It is an excellent read. Thank you Ever After PR and the author for the e-arc of this book.
This was my first dive into OV and it couldn't have been more perfect because me and the MC learned what that meant together!
I loved this book. It has great world building without bogging you down with too much info. So much effort is spent so you know the characters and their personalities and motives really well.
This has so many twists I didn't see coming and the plot is a great pace so it keeps you engaged. There's so many of my favorite tropes in here and I loved the soul swapping aspect and the magic system.
I would recommend this to anyone wanting to dip their toes into OV or any OV lover.
