Ten years ago, two step-brothers entered their family’s arcade restaurant and were never seen again. Some suspected foul play—maybe even murder.
Now, the restaurant lay vacant—reportedly haunted. Samara Stormcrow, a ghost hunter determined to find proof of life after death, sets out to find the truth about Caine and Lucky Ward.
What she never expected to find was the brothers, alive, cursed, and trapped inside the arcade equipment. They need to break their spell, and maybe she’ll be just the person they need to help them claw their way out.
However, Caine and Lucky need to learn to get along before anything else—and that might be the hardest game in the arcade to beat.
Insert Token for Love is an MMF, step-brother, sentient object romance.
This book such a wild, heartfelt, chaotic delight of a story. It leans fully into its sentient-romance premise, and it works because beneath the bizarre setup is a genuinely emotional core. Lucky and Caine—cursed into vending machines for a decade—carry all the history, chemistry, and unresolved longing you want from a faux enemies-to-lovers romance. Lucky’s golden-boy softness and Caine’s emo armour bounce off each other beautifully, and the authors nail that tension between “I’ve wanted you for years” and “I never thought we’d get here.” Their dynamic is easily the standout thread of the book, tender and electric all at once. Sandy adds a very different energy as the ghost hunter vlogger who stumbles into their world. Her presence shifts the story into a full MMF triad, and the book balances humour, heat, and genuine connection as the three of them figure out what they could be together. There are some brilliantly written small details—the kind that make you feel the characters’ affection long before anyone admits it out loud. Those quiet emotional beats give the story real heart beneath all the curse-breaking, chaos, and spicy moments that slap. And while the book goes wonderfully off-the-rails at times, it always circles back to loyalty, choice, and commitment. The symbolic “contract” moment later on ties everything together in a really satisfying way for this beautiful little found-family unit. Overall, this is inventive, emotional, unexpectedly tender, and absolutely unhinged in the best way. The relationship between Lucky and Caine is beautiful and aching and worth the decade they lost, and watching them finally sort themselves out was an absolute highlight. If you enjoy paranormal romances that aren’t afraid to be weird, warm, and very spicy, this one is a treat.
ARC review - Insert Token for Love by Sylvia Morrow and Sabrina Cross
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (but my spice threshold is pretty high, so check your trigger warnings and decide for yourself if this is a good fit for you)
“Never thought I’d share a woman with Lucky. Really never thought I’d do it as a vending machine.” - Caine
You know how when you’re sent an ARC through private download and there’s the sentence at the end of the chapter “book made for &/7-(@xxx.com”? This book was DEFINITELY made for me. It was so much fun and exactly what I needed.
This is a sentient object romance with two stepbrothers and a lovely young ghost hunter lady. They are not ghosts. They are cursed. It takes place in an arcade, there IS an animatronic band but no spicy fun happens with the band members. They are not sentient. This was a concern of mine (Chuck E Cheese is not a hottie, but honestly, if they write it, I’ll read it and probably love it).
This was a RIOT. I smiled the whole time. The spicy fun was so spicy but also emotional and Lucky and Caine, our cursed heroes, need Samara/Sandy to help them break their curse and find each other. These men have history and years between them and she is there to help them untangle everything, cords and all
Completely appropriate use of claw hand Vending machine shoots snacks and cans when excited MMF with stepbrothers Bondage, marshmallow gag, stuffed kangaroo baby (not an actual baby, just a stuffed animal)
Thanks so much to the authors for the gifted eARC! This is out December 4th, and you’ll want to grab it ASAP.
✨️ sentient objects ✨️ mmf ✨️ taboo (step bros) ✨️ its gets weird in the BEST way
10 out of 10. I wish I could re read this again for the first time already. If you are a lover of the weird "I can't believe I am reading this and LIKE it!" This is the one. Absolutely jump in.
Caine and Lucky are step brothers who suddenly go missing. Samara (Sandra? SANDY) comes to their rescue as a ghost hunter looking for her big break.
When I tell you shit gets weird? I mean imagine if you're a claw machine and a vending machine... who has needs.... 😂😂
I have no idea how I am supposed to review this for amazon yall 🤣
Absolutely fabulous little read and I cannot wait for you two to collaborate again.
I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me of my childhood with the arcade games. The spice is low/medium, but it is backed with a really good storyline and enjoyable characters. There are plenty of funny moments to be found throughout this book as well.
Caine and Lucky may be brothers, but they are different. Lucky has a sunny personality whereas, Caine is grumpy. I really liked Lucky's bubbly personality but laughed at the gruff responses from Caine. The addition of Samara to the group dynamics is just what this threesome needed.
Reading this book is like winning at the claw machine. You can't go wrong.
So I really enjoyed the idea of this book, that being said my mooding reading is not in the vibe for smut. The smut is done well and it's has a place in the story . For those how love smut it's mixed in most fit he middle too the end of the book. Ie why it's a 3.5 not higher for me. The story is good , I loved the characters it just my brain was not vibing the smut . I do really want to know how what they talk everyone where they had been for the last 10 years and how magic fixed that you if it's like a crime mystery online 😂. Or like why did she not use her finding them ( not the sex but finding the guys to promote her web show )

Just two step brothers stuck 5 feet apart because they're not... oh but they are. Lucky and Caine find themselves stuck inside of their family owned arcade. A ghost hunter comes in and might just be able to solve this mystery.
"You're not really going to gag me with a bag of marshmallow frogs."
There's claws, cords, soda cans, marshmallow frogs. This is a why choose sentient object romance that becomes so much more! It's such a lively arcade with a mysterious past. Thank you for an ARC of this fun book, I loved every moment!
Oh my goodness!!!! What could be better than Sylvia Morrow and Sabrina Cross teaming up?! NOTHING!!! Seriously, two absolutely incredible sentient object queens bring you a spooky & spicy new romance! Insert Token for Love is full of laughs, mystery & adventure, witchyness and of course sentient smut 🤭💅🏼 It also has some fun FNAF vibes happening! I promise you want to read this one!! I mean, you have to find out if the boyfriends become boyfriends right?😘
This book is exactly the kind of wild paranormal romance I love stumbling into. I went in expecting chaos and got that plus a surprising amount of charm. The sentient object angle is as unhinged as advertised, but it works because Lucky and Caine already have years of tension built between them. I liked watching their history unfold while they were stuck inside arcade machines.
Samara brings a different kind of energy when she walks into the abandoned building. I enjoyed following her point of view as she tries to ghost hunt her way through a place that is very much not haunted. The three of them falling into an MMF dynamic felt natural, and the mix of humor, awkwardness, and real connection is what kept me turning pages.
The book has plenty of silly details, from the vending machine shooting snacks to the claw machine antics, and that gave it the exact tone I was looking for. If you enjoy paranormal romances that lean into the weird, this is a quick, funny, spicy read that delivered everything I hoped for.
Cursed until they get along, Caine and Lucky are trapped as a vending machine and a claw machine until Sandy shows up.
Super cute, love me a second chance with the step-brothers twist! Sandy adds the perfect foil to their dynamic and forces them to confess their feelings!
Yes if: Sentient object romance + inappropriate use of a claw machine = a fun time
The only negative thing I have to say about this book is that it's too short! I wanted more! Like more of Cain and Lucky's back story or of Sandy's ghost hunts!
That being said this is a cute quick and dirty taboo sentient romance. The brother's are rumored to have deserted their arcade restaurant 10 years ago. Abandoned and haunted locations are Sandy's thing. So imagine her surprise for when she goes exploring to find much more than a few ghosts...
How can so much spice and angst fit into so little pages. Loved the creativity in this story and getting stepbrother s who are together (not just a sis & bro). Let's just say I'm not gonna look at a vending machine or claw machine the same again.
And that ending allows for the possibility of more from this universe so who knows what will happen.
This is a sentient object romance, which is our favorite genre, so make sure you know what that means before you read it!
This is also a step-brother romance, which we find only acceptable in sentient object romances. That is just us though.
This is also a smutty book, so make sure you know what that means before you read as well.
Sandy is the FMC and she’s a ghost hunter, which is how she finds herself in this abandoned…Chuck R Cheese type of place. Yeah, at first I also thought Five Nights at Freddie’s, but it’s not creepy
We have a vending machine and one of those claw machines as our two MMC’s. You HAVE to read to see what they get up too. Let’s just say my favorite part is the strawberry marshmallow gag 😉Now you gotta read.
This is a HEA story and I know I told you it’s smutty, but like you gotta be okay with thruple type situations as well, so keep that in mind.
If you read the story you’ll find out how they got to be in this predicament. You’ll learn a little more about Sandy and of course more about the brothers.
There is a small, very tiny cross over with Ghostlight Falls, but it is not necessary to read that series, though we do suggest it 😬

I had no idea how this was going to work and went in skeptical. Which happened to be fitting. Somehow it DID work and I absolutely loved it? Who knew a claw machine was hot. And of course I love when boyfriends are boyfriends 🤭
I was so happy when this hit my inbox! This book was not as happy/fluffy as I was expecting but it was so good!!! Quick read from three perspectives which was really nice, some bits a little rushed but oh so freaking sexy!!
I received an early copy, all opinions are my own.
Sometimes, I find that fate works in mysterious ways. I have known and loved Sylvia Morrow's books since 2023, and I discovered and loved Sabrina Cross's books in 2025. So when I heard that the two of them were going to collaborate, I was sure of one thing: I was going to love the story they came up with together. And once again, I was right 😎
Although I'm currently in a reading slump, Insert Token For Love is the only book I've managed to read in the last few months. I think that shows just how much I enjoyed this short story.
I hope we'll get to see another collaboration between these two authors someday 🤞🏻
