God of Malice meets Yellowstone in this stalker romance full of searing spice and featuring a college student being hunted by a cowboy utterly obsessed with her.
I’m Peyton Turner. I’m nineteen years old, and I have . . . a stalker.
No, I don’t have proof—but I know he’s watching me. I feel his stare burning through my bedroom window at night, smell his intoxicating scent when he’s close. Every time I try to catch him, he vanishes into the shadows like he was never there at all.
All I know for certain is that under his black Stetson, he wears a skull mask. It almost hides the wicked scar carved down his face, but it can’t hide his piercing green eyes. Eyes that haunt me.
I should be terrified of his attention. Instead, I find myself drawn to it. I only understand the danger too late, when my best friend goes missing. I’ve decided I won’t run, though. I won’t hide. I’ll set a trap to lure him out of the dark and force him to lead me to her.
But the man I’m hunting is a far more skilled predator than I imagined. And once his rope tightens around me, I’m no longer the one in control. I’m the prey.

After stalking our FMC and she finding out her best friend is missing, our MMC kidnaps her and she just happens to be the daughter of a long time rival family of his. Now she thinks he’s behind her kidnapping too.
There is so much crazy, unhinged-ness in this and I ate it up 👏
I love a dark romance, and I love a cowboy romance - there really is no better combo. Kent’s writing is unique, and I always enjoy it.

Dark Cowboy Romance Masked MMC Stalker Man Obsessed Age Gap Captor x Captive Sassy City Girl FMC Morally Grey MMC Found family Primal Play Rope Play
If your looking for a morally grey MMC who is based and stalks his woman and can recount down to the minute since he laid eyes on her this then is your book! I enjoyed seeing Radisson’s character in Branded and was glad to see him get his own book despite not being an actual Grayson brother. This book does follow Branded and I do feel you get more out of the story having read the first book but I absolutely think you can read this as a stand alone. The first 30-40% of the book basically is told from the same timeline as branded so you don’t feel lost and you get Peyton Turner and Rads POV from those events. Peyton is the “Turner Princess” who they were actually after in book 1. For those who didn’t read Branded I’ll make it simple. You get a Hatfield and McCoy-like family feud between The Graysons and The Turners. A tragic event occurred to Rads family and he’s out for revenge against Hank Turner- Peyton’s horrid excuse of a father. This man is vile. (Check TW before starting as this has dark content mention)
My thoughts: I enjoyed the captor x captive trope. It was almost a cat and mouse game as she knew she was being watched and did things just for him. Rad is so obsessed and protective of her despite her being the daughter of his mortal enemy. I did feel the plot was slow in certain parts and some of the dialogue repetitive. A few times their dialogue made me cringe and pulled me out of the plot. The over use of the words “big” and “large” used to describe Rad… I felt like I read it in every other page. This is a slowburn as they don’t get horizontal till around 73% but the filthy mouth that Rad has on him stokes the fire until their chemistry explodes. The spicy scenes were hot and I enjoyed those. I love primal and rope play and there were plenty of other spicy Microtropes to enjoy.
I love romantic suspense and I feel like the story line could have really leaned more into this but to me it fell a little flat. I had guessed correctly who was behind the trouble being caused. I was surprised by the truth a certain sister and hat added a lot to the overall story of leaving the past behind and starting fresh. I would have like to seen the villains get their due on page. This was the part that felt anticlimactic. This is just my hot take of how I felt in the moment reading. I did enjoy the reconciliation between Rad and Peyton after what had happened and how he had left things with her after she professed her love. He needs to grovel a little and I enjoyed that part. I enjoyed the found family aspect and the healing journey for not only Rad and Lennie but also Peyton and her brother. The epilogue circled back to what Rad had promised would happened and I enjoyed that. If you like morally grey men who will burn the world down for their woman while also keeping her tied to his bed then you’ll want to add Roped to your TBR.
Thank you to NetGalley, Forever Publishing, and author Saffron Kent for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This is book two in Saffrons dark romance cowboy series. A lot of their story begins in book one and when this one starts we’re getting the events of book one over again, just in their POV this time. It wasn’t until about 40-50% or so that it felt like we were getting new scenes and new plot lines emerging. We already knew how they began and his obsession so the beginning of this felt repetitive. I think she was really successful at making this a standalone for those who haven’t read book one though. If you only want to read this one you’ll do totally fine.
The last half was great though. What girl doesn’t want the love of their life to be an unhinged man to come slay all their fears? I love a broken, lonely, scarred, broody H especially one who adores the eff out of the h, as Saffrons Hs always do and why I’ll always pick up her books. I wish we could have see his obsession with her build more in real time.
I swooned when she asked him about his favorite color and he said he never had one before her 😍😍. That’s the type of worshipping love that I want. The scenes of them riding the horses together had so much intimacy. Her clinging to him!! The way she loves him was so delicious; so open and honest and she doesn’t give a shit if she looks stupid in front of this man so long as she can make him feel just how much he’s loved.
The j/p scenes are so good here. He’s super freaking possessive. That bar scene was wild, bold, and just oozed chemistry. He kind of reminded me of an unhinged Finn from Dirty Rowdy Thing, seems like such a weird comparison considering this a dark romance and that’s contemporary romance that can straddle the romcom genre, but he did. Some of it was the rope stuff and the age gap, some of it is that Finn is a fisherman and Radisson is a cowboy but, a lot is that both characters really feel like super masculine men, even when they’re worshipping and on their knees it never comes across as simpy.
There is a lot of telling verses showing here which has been her style for a while now. It didn’t bother me too much in the beginning, aside from not seeing the obsession build, because I get see needed us to catch up from the book one stuff. The set up here was just slightly off for me but I don’t know how she could have done it differently either. We needed the stuff in book one and we needed it here sooo 🤷🏻♀️. I think it’s just the nature of these stories being so interconnected. It did bother me more in the end more. I wanted to see the plot lines get wrapped up more instead of just being told how they did. It never felt like the stakes were very high even though they should be because the villains are supposed to be formidable.
Give me a stalker romance with an utterly obsessed cowboy and a gorgeous college student with a spicy age gap, suspense and an absolute relentless yearning and angst and heat for days and I am there for it! Roped by Saffron Kent is book two in her dark cowboy romance and omg was it so good!
Radisson and Peyton. Couldn't be two more opposite people. Their families, The Turners and The Graysons have been rival ranches and enemies for decades. These two were brought up to hate each other’s families. Peyton Turner, the princess. Grew up wealthy yet totally alone. And went through so much hidden trauma. Yet she always put up a front. She genuinely always showed a kindness and happy personality, so selfless to those she loves. No one truly knew deep down the struggles she faced. Radisson King, this man. So many words to describe him. Broken, lonely, broody. A TRAGIC past, his parents died at age 15 and he suffered a TBI that forever changed him. So much trauma from that. His beautiful face scarred and has allowed it to define him, thought to be a “monster” by the world and he accepted that title. But he’s so much more! Sent to follow her, this man becomes absolutely obsessed with her. So protective, her silent guardian angel but she equally has become completely obsessed with him. And through circumstances, these two are thrown together. And omg. Their banter is perfect. The way she shows him such a pure and unconditional love even though he fights it so hard is beautiful. Add in my favorite hot age gap. Their angst and chemistry is pure fire. The push and pull until they finally give all in will have you dying for them to finally get together!! And when they do, my favorite, all the firsts and all for him. And this man’s mouth, so dirty and so delicious! Soooo worth the wait!
This book is deliciously DARK and a roller coaster of emotions. These two were inevitable. Between the danger, twisted secrets, and relentless tension, it becomes a story of healing, redemption, forgiveness and a love so consuming it becomes the only way to survive. I hope we get more of this series! I want the other brothers’ stories please!!

🦋Thank you so much Saffron Kent, NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for my arc!
Saffron A. Kent really said God of Malice meets Yellowstone and then gave us a dark, dangerous, deliciously obsessive romance that had me completely hooked.
Roped is the kind of book that leans all the way into the shadows and somehow still finds light there.
Peyton knows someone is watching her. She can feel him outside her window. Sense him in the dark. Smell him when he gets too close. She does not have proof, but she knows her masked stalker is real.
And honestly? The fact that she is scared but also a little drawn to the danger?
Yeah. I was seated.
Rad, her dark Phantom cowboy, is broody, scarred, dangerous, possessive, and hiding so much more than Peyton realizes. Their dynamic is pure cat and mouse, except once Peyton finally calls her monster out of the shadows, the game becomes so much bigger than either of them.
What I loved most was how Peyton and Rad became each other’s light. He lives in the darkness, but something about Peyton reaches him. And Peyton, even when everything gets more dangerous and sinister, refuses to be helpless. Her banter, her bravery, her fire, all of it made their relationship so addictive.
This book is dark, intense, and full of that obsessive “I will burn the world to keep you safe” energy. But underneath the stalking, danger, and secrets, there is also healing, loyalty, and a love that feels like survival.
The series world keeps getting deeper too, with the fight for freedom, the Grayson legacy, and all the tension surrounding what still needs to be won. I am so obsessed with these characters and this world.

This was dark, addictive, emotional, and exactly the kind of unhinged cowboy romance I wanted.
I will never not love an obsessed man, and Rad took the cake and ate it.
I already had high expectations, not only because Branded was one of my top reads, but because the hints we got of Peyton and Rad in Branded had me salivating. And I wasn’t disappointed.
Peyton surprised me. From Reverie’s perspective we couldn’t have seen how much more than the typical rich college girl she was. But Peyton was brave, fearless, loyal and so loving. She had the crazy in her that only made her better. Her obsession with Rad’s green eyes from the moment she saw them gave me all the knowledge I needed to foresee her being as into him as he was her. She was selfless, would have laid down her life for not only Reverie, but Rad and his sister. She never once had anything but love and desire for Rad and his body, and her bleeding heart for his past only made me love her more.
And Raddison? My god how I love him, his pain, his scar and his dirty mouth, that when he utters words you know he means them. I truly couldn’t get over him counting down to the second how long he’s been observing Peyton. How he cared so much about her even after realizing who was her father. That even then, when he saw true fear in her eyes he’d move heaven and earth for her, but still gave her the fear she craved. His strong morals, how he didn’t let some people earn redemption because, it’s true, some don’t deserve it. How can I not love him?
Now now, I was a sucker for the age gap, the filth and the absolute dirty talk all throughout, but the fact that we, as the reader, had to earn that kiss? Oh I was the one yearning and pinning for it. I’m a sucker for the first kiss moment and Saffron killed it. I also adore that her MMCs seem to have an…oral fixation, that her taste is addictive, because who wouldn’t dream of an eater having you as breakfast for the rest of your life?
Okay, now that I’ve read it once, I’ll be screaming and crying for Mars and Ax books…even Brecken’s but guess what I’ll be doing while waiting? REREADING both Branded AND the absolute gem that is Roped.
NetGalley, baby, you keep on blessing me fr fr. Forever, specially Estelle, you did your big one sending me this one and I’ll never forget it.
And of course, Saffron. Damn it, you’ve topped it again. I love it and I’ll never get tired of your work.
I had to think about this one. Roped is definitely a lot heavier and more emotionally loaded than Branded. ( Saffron wrote this in a way where you’d be okay not having read Branded first, but if you haven’t yet… it completely worth reading it).
It deals with many issues, mental, emotional as well as physical. But also in a way that pulls you in, you feel what these characters are going through.
That being said… this is SAK we’re talking about. She knows how to keep you coming back . She’ll break your heart and you’ll beg her for more. Peyton and Rad will steal your heart. Mush it up just a bit, but hand it back better than before.
It’s a story about two slightly dented (not quite broken although they think they are) people, whose dark bits call to each other. The scary monster and damsel, the hunter and the prey, the stalker and his obsession, the phantom…and his Princess …
It’s a bit of a slow burn but in the sense, you still feel the heat from the embers although the fire doesn’t get going until you’ve put some time into it and stoked those flames. I honestly don’t know how to explain without giving spoilers 🤣. And I don’t want to do that. I’ll tell you this though. Rad is my new favourite bedroom potty mouth 🫦.
It’s a beautiful, crazy, smutty, wholesome mishmash of good people, broken bits, protective cowboys, plot twists, what family really is, healing, love… and ropes 😈.
Here are some of my favourite quotes:
“But you can talk,” he keeps going, all calm and collected. “It ain’t your mouth I’m going to do things to, darling’.
“Come on, Princess,” he rasps. “Gush on my fingers and wash off the rain. Don’t want anythin’ else soakin’ me when I’ve got your sweet c*** to pop for me like a bottle of champagne.”
“Don’t want any other name on my lips now that I know yours.”
“So I won’t try to convince you of the opposite. Instead, I’ll show you. I’ll show you that we’ll work. We’ll more than fuckin’ work; we’ll fit. Like we always have.” I blush because I know what he means. “I didn’t —“ “‘cause we’re fate, you and I,”
“It means I get to take you away.” “Where?” “To my ranch.” “And?” “And keep you.”
*Thank you to Saffron, her PR team, and NetgGalley, for the opportunity to review this ARC.
I just finished Roped by Saffron Kent and I loved every single minute of this book.
If you're obsessed with possessive, morally gray men who are completely gone for their woman, this book needs to be on your TBR immediately.
Peyton didn't just fall for a monster—she turned a possessive monster into a man. And Radisson? This man is next-level obsessed. Not only does he stalk her, but he literally analyzes every man who gets too close to her. Every glance, every interaction, every touch. The jealousy is unmatched.
But what made me fall in love with him wasn't just the obsession. It was the way he validates Peyton. He never allows her to speak poorly about herself. Every flaw she sees, he sees as beautiful. Every insecurity she carries, he treats with care. He's the ultimate protective shadow daddy—watching, guarding, and loving her even when she doesn't believe she's worthy of it.
What makes Radisson such an unforgettable MMC is that beneath all the possessiveness, rage, and darkness, he's painfully human. He carries so much trauma, anger, and heartbreak. After losing his parents because of the Turners, he grew up consumed by hatred and dedicated his life to destroying the family he blamed for everything.
His plan was simple: kidnap Peyton, the daughter of his enemy, and use her to get his sister back.
But after watching her for more than six months, he never stood a chance.
He fell first. He fell hard.
And Peyton? She sees him. Not the monster he believes himself to be, not the damaged man hiding behind revenge. She loves him through his scars, his trauma, and all the parts of himself he considers ugly and unworthy. She makes him feel seen, understood, and loved in a way he never thought possible.
Their love story is dark, obsessive, emotional, and surprisingly tender. Beneath the kidnapping, revenge, and obsession is a story about two broken people finding acceptance in each other.
Radisson may have taken Peyton captive, but she was the one who truly set him free.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Obsessive MMC Protective shadow daddy Touch her and die energy He falls first He falls harder Dark romance perfect
This has been one of my anticipated read of 2026. Branded, book 1, of the series is so good, I couldn’t wait for Peyton’s story.
I did not anticipate how this storyline would go. I love it so much. Rad is so possessive, damaged, worthy of so much but a lot has been taken from him. Peyton has two sides to her. One that she keeps hidden and the other she shows the world. This unlikely pairing works so well together.
When we learned more about Rad’s past, it made me look at him in a different light. In the beginning, I just saw him as psychotic and out for revenge with no care for anyone in the world. As we progressed, I had so much sympathy for him. That man went through so much.
Honestly, I figured Rad is a psychopath and has no redeeming qualities. Then you get halfway into the book and the real Rad comes out and you learn more. People aren’t born villains, they are made to be it. I love the progression from Rad being this tough hard person to a man who says the sweetest things and puts his heart out to Peyton. As much as he is crazy he goes and says the most romantic things. Well in my opinion. I might be just as crazy as Peyton for falling into it haha.
When Rad and Peyton are together there’s electricity, passion, fire, and the ultimate sweetness.
Saffron’s writing! The way that she writes Rad is poetic. The words he says. The love the pours out of him towards Peyton. You feel the immense love and passion that he has for her. He’s a broken man and with Peyton he’s alive for the first time ever. I love reading about a broken man who meets the woman who makes his life worth living again.
I didn’t see the story progressing the way that I did and I’m so for it. I love how Branded and Roped were similar and how the characters in both books found an ending where they made peace in everything that’s happened.
From the very first page, Roped had me hooked. You know something is wrong. You know you should probably be concerned. And yet...You keep turning pages.👀
Peyton Turner has spent her life surrounded by wealth, expectations, and people who never truly see her. When she becomes convinced someone is watching her, she can't explain why she's equal parts terrified and drawn to the mystery.
Then there's Radisson. And BABES. This man is darkness wrapped in denim and bad decisions. Scarred. Masked. Broody. Emotionally damaged. Completely obsessed. My favorite kind of fictional disaster.😈
Under all the secrets, family rivalries, revenge, and danger is a story about two lonely people desperately searching for somewhere they belong. Peyton sees past everything Rad believes makes him unlovable. And Rad? For all his darkness, he's the first person who truly sees Peyton. Not the Turner name. Not the family legacy. Not the image she's expected to maintain. Just her.
The Graysons and Turners have years of history, resentment, and pain between them, and you can feel the weight of it in every decision these characters make. The suspense kept me glued to the pages, and while I had theories about what was happening, I still couldn't stop reading because I needed to know how everything would unfold.

Roped was a solid 4-star read for me. Honestly, this book had all the ingredients to be a 5-star read, but the writing style just didn’t fully connect with me the way I had hoped. That being said, I was still completely invested in the story and flew through it.
If you’re a fan of forbidden love, a princess-and-phantom dynamic, stalker vibes, old family feuds, and plenty of angst, this book delivers on all fronts. The tropes were definitely troping, and I mean that in the best way possible. Every time I thought I knew where things were headed, I found myself pulled deeper into the emotional tension and drama between the characters.
The chemistry was intense, the obsession was obsession-ing, and the push-and-pull between the main characters kept me hooked from beginning to end. I especially enjoyed how the long-standing family conflict added another layer of complexity to the romance and raised the stakes for everyone involved.
What kept this from being a 5-star read for me was the execution. The premise was fantastic, and there were so many moments that had me completely invested, but I found myself wanting a little more depth and polish in the writing to really elevate the story. The potential was absolutely there.
Overall, this was an entertaining, trope-filled romance that gave me exactly the kind of drama, tension, and emotional chaos I was looking for. And let’s be honest—who doesn’t love a hard-earned HEA after all that turmoil? If you enjoy forbidden romance with plenty of angst, obsession, and family drama, this is definitely worth picking up.
“If I believed in fate or some bullshit like that, I’d think she was the other half of my soul.”
this dark cowboy romance gave EVERYTHING it needed to give. I’ve been *very impatiently* waiting on Peyton and Rad’s book ever since book one where we get the briefest crumbs of their little stalker romance and ahhhh they were worth the wait.
I love Peyton Turner downnnnnn! ugh this girl was everything to me. After her best friend goes missing, she gets an inkling that that perhaps the masked man who’s been following her around, and whom she’s been secretly performing for in her room at night (yeah she’s an icon), she comes up with a plan to lure him out and demand answers. that plan obviously backfires and that’s how our queen ends up kidnapped and taken to Rawhide ranch hehe
“What’s your f-favorite food?” “Think you know that one, given I ate it three times last night.”
were there times where I wanted to throat punch Raddison and feed him to his wolves? yeah. would I still immediately sign up to take Peyton’s place in his bed? also yeah. I fear it’s just part of the dark romance charm, which I am so here for.
this man was FINEEE. his backstory is so tragic my heart broke. I loved the romance, the buildup to their iconic first kiss, the way he called her darlin’ and the way he called her princess (the sweet way when he was done being a jerk about it lol) and the way these two truly felt like they were just meant to be. their relationship felt so developed and I loved their talks and how deep their conversations actually were.
Roped was a dark, intense, and completely absorbing read. Saffron A. Kent once again proved why she’s one of my favorite authors when it comes to writing obsessive romances filled with tension and powerful emotions.
What I enjoyed most was the dynamic between Peyton and Rad. From the very beginning, there’s a dangerous attraction between them that makes it impossible to stop reading. Rad is mysterious, obsessive, and downright frightening at times, but he also has a vulnerability that slowly comes to the surface. Peyton, on the other hand, isn’t easily intimidated, and I loved how she constantly challenges Rad, even when she knows she’s playing with fire.
The setting was also one of my favorite aspects of the book. The entire time, I found myself imagining what it would be like to be in Yellowstone, surrounded by ranches, cowboys, mountains, and endless landscapes. The atmosphere adds a wild, isolated feeling that perfectly complements the story and makes the tension even more intense.
I also really enjoyed the mystery surrounding Rad. The story maintains a constant sense of danger, with secrets, unexpected twists, and an unsettling atmosphere that kept me glued to the pages. As Peyton uncovers more about him and the events unfolding around her, the plot becomes increasingly addictive.
But what truly made this story stand out for me was how Peyton and Rad ultimately become each other’s safe place. Beneath all the darkness, obsession, and chaos, there’s a deeply emotional connection that left me completely invested in them as a couple.
Tropes: Stalker Cowboy Dark Romance, God of Malice Meets Yellowstone, Masked & Scarred MMC, Sassy, City Girl FMC Kidnapping/Captive, Age Gap, Heroine in Danger, Secrets and Plot Twists
Review No Spoilers: Peyton Turner is a sharp-tongued college student who knows someone is watching her. She has no proof, only the unsettling feeling of his eyes on her through the darkness outside her window. Sometimes she catches the lingering scent of him just before he disappears into the shadows.
The only things Peyton knows about her mysterious stalker are the details she can never forget: a black Stetson cowboy hat, a skull mask concealing a vicious facial scar, and piercing green eyes that seem to follow her everywhere. Instead of feeling nothing but fear, Peyton finds herself dangerously intrigued by the attention of the masked stranger.
When her best friend suddenly vanishes without a trace, Peyton becomes convinced that her stalker is responsible. Determined to uncover the truth and save her friend, she devises a risky plan—using herself as bait to draw him into the open.
But Peyton quickly learns she has underestimated the predator hunting her. What begins as a game she believes she can control turns into a nightmare when he captures her first. Trapped and at his mercy, Peyton realizes she is no longer the one setting the trap. She is the prey.
This left me wondering...what in the Yellowstone-meets-dark-romance fever dream did I just read?!
Book two picks up on the same timeline as when Branded started except this time, we're getting Peyton and Rad's story. These two are just as unhinged as Reverie and Arsen from Branded, so don't worry about any shortage of unhinge-ness.
One thing I did think is funny is that Rad is huge. And when I say huge, I mean the author reminds us approximately every three pages. I couldn't stop picturing Johnny Bravo in a Stetson, and honestly? Nothing will convince me otherwise.
The stalker romance vibes were vibing. The tension was tensioning. The obsession? Off the charts. Did I devour it anyway? Yes.
This book is dark, twisted, spicy, and packed with enough trigger warnings to fill a small notebook. Once again, in the middle of all the dark romance shenanigans, there is a whole web of a story unraveling that I didn't expect, and I wanted to keep reading to see how all of this was going to wrap up.
If you enjoy possessive, morally gray cowboys who desperately need therapy, and stories that make you repeatedly say, "Girl, no," while turning the page faster, this series continues to deliver.
Once again: read the trigger warnings.
There's not much else I can say. You'll know if you like this kind of read or not. It's not going to win awards, but it will probably shock you lol.
Thank you to the publisher, the author and NetGalley for the eARC!!
4 out of 5 stars. Saffron A. Kent has yet to write a book I haven’t liked. The story hooked me quickly, and I was immediately thrown in and invested in the mystery surrounding Peyton and her Phantom. Every time I thought I had things figured out, another twist would come along and make me question everything. This is definitely a darker romance, with plenty of suspense and tension woven throughout the story. The forbidden nature of the relationship added another layer of tension that kept me turning the pages. It gave "we shouldn't but f*** it" vibes. One of my favorite parts of the book was the mystery. The twists and turns kept me guessing until the end, and I loved trying to piece everything together. Peyton was easy to root for, she was strong willed and despite her age, it was clear that life had forced her to grow up much faster than she should have had to. Saffron A. Kent delivered a morally black cowboy with a filthy mouth and a presence that completely commands the page. Despite his darker qualities, I couldn't help but be invested in his story and his connection with Peyton. Overall, this was a suspenseful, twist filled story, and just the right amount of darkness to keep me hooked from beginning to end. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a wild ride and I loved it! This masked cowboy stalker romance is dark, messy, and full of trauma on trauma on trauma, but somehow it works so well for these characters and it shouldn't be cute... and yet it kind of was?
I ended up liking this even more than Branded! Radisson is absolutely a villain, but somehow Saffron made him weirdly lovable. I don't know how she does it. His obsession with Peyton was intense, but their chemistry was completely undeniable and I really liked them together, despite him being her stalker and kidnapping her, hehehe.
Peyton and Radisson are both carrying so much baggage, and while this is definitely a dark romance, I thought their connection made sense in its own twisted way. The story was so good the entire time, and I couldn't stop turning the pages to see what would happen next!
If you're looking for a sweet, healthy romance, this is not that book, so maybe look elsewhere and understand this is a dark romance and the trigger warnings are there for a reason. But if you enjoy dark romance escapism with a masked cowboy, a morally questionable MMC, and chemistry that's burning hot, this one is so much fun and a great read! Sometimes this kind of dark, over the top romance is exactly what I need, and Roped was just that!
Thank you to NetGalley, Saffron A. Kent, and Forever for the eARC of this book.
💭 My Thoughts: Disclaimer: This is not okay in real life. 😂 This man is a Stage 10 stalker. Seriously. He appears to have absolutely nothing else going on in his life besides stalking this girl. From the beginning, it's pretty clear that she likes the attention, so once I accepted that as the foundation of the story, I found myself completely invested in this very unconventional "how we met" romance. There really is someone for almost everyone, apparently. As their paths continued to cross, I found myself rooting for their relationship because they were rooting for it. The chemistry worked, the tension worked, and I was fully engaged in their story. Now, in real life? Please alert your family, notify the authorities, share your location with friends, and keep a legal self-defense option nearby because absolutely not. 🚩🚩🚩 But in fiction? ✅ The plot was there. ✅ The romance was there. ✅ The spice was there. This book delivered exactly what it promised to deliver, and I had a great time reading it. If you're looking for a dark romance with a possessive, obsessive hero and you're comfortable suspending your real-world judgment for a few hundred pages, this one is worth checking out. Thank you to Saffron A. Kent and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy.
✨ Stalker MMC ✨ Innocent FMC ✨ Rival families ✨ Masked MMC ✨ Age gap ✨ Plenty of spice ✨ Check the trigger warnings!
This book had me completely captivated from the very first page. I told myself I'd read a few chapters, and before I knew it, I was flying through the entire thing.
When our FMC discovers her best friend has gone missing, things take a wild turn. She's been secretly watched for far longer than she realizes, and when she's suddenly kidnapped, she's convinced the mysterious man behind it all is responsible. To make matters even messier, she's the daughter of a family that's been at odds with his for years.
The tension, obsession, secrets, and absolute chaos had me glued to the pages. Every time I thought I knew where the story was headed, something happened that pulled me even deeper in.
I'm already a sucker for both dark romance and cowboy romance, but combining the two? Perfection. Kent has such a distinct writing style that keeps you hooked, and once again, they delivered a story that was intense, addictive, and impossible to put down.
Definitely check the trigger warnings before diving in, but if you love dark romance, morally gray men, possessive cowboys, and high-stakes obsession, this one deserves a spot on your TBR.
Saffron writes some of the most deliciously dark books and I love every one of them, but Roped…oh Roped took my darkness and made it happy!!
Peyton and her dark Phantom have a cat and mouse game happening, but when Peyton finally calls her monster out of the shadows the real game begins and Peyton realizes she’s part of a darker and more sinister plan than she originally thought.
This book has some of the events from book one layered in but the focus is solely on Peytin and her Phantom! Things go deeper though because the fight for freedom and for the Grayson’s to have what’s rightfully theirs isn’t over. Now Peyton must find a way to help those she loves while Rad, her dark, broody cowboy Phantom tries to keep everyone safe!
What I loved about this dark and dangerous romance is how Rad and Peyton became each others light. Even though Rad lives in the shadows something about Peyton calls to him and their banter or well her banter had me chuckling and hanging on to every moment!
Gah I could go on and on about this book! What I will say is that this series, these characters are Everything! There is something that just sucks you in and keeps you! I am so obsessed with this series but the healing and love between Rad and Peyton elevated them to my faves!
If you love a cowboy who’s devastatingly dark, broody, and barely ever says a word except when he’s telling you dirty, filthy things, then this is definitely for you. And me. Very much for me. It’s like Saffron A. Kent knows me or something.
You have Peyton, innocent and inexperienced but fully capable of pushing every button imaginable, and Radison, who lurks in the shadows, watching over her with a possessive streak a mile wide.
Did I mention they should hate each other? They absolutely should. Their families are rivals. It’s always about land and power with cowboys, isn’t it? But this time it’s also about revenge and decade-long feuds finally coming to a head.
Naturally, I loved every second of it. The chemistry is intense, the tension is delicious, and Radison is exactly the kind of honourable-but-dangerous cowboy romance readers dream about. Add in villains that make you want to launch your Kindle across the room and enough spice to keep things sizzling from beginning to end, and this was a winner for me.
Tropes: 🔥 Dark Cowboy Romance 🔥 Stalker 🔥 Age Gap 🔥 Boy Obsessed 🔥 Masked & Scarred MMC 🔥 City Girl FMC 🔥 Kidnapping/Captive
📌 Again… I feel like I shouldn’t need to say this but READ YOUR TRIGGERS.
“Every good hunter knows how to protect its prey from other predators.”
Oh my … sweet sigh. I’m still breathless from a book that quickly became my world, hijacking my heart and mind for days. Dayyyys. What did you do to me, Ms. Master Storyteller, Saffron A. Kent?!? This author and your hypnotic prose roped me in. I was a goner for Roped with its Romeo and Juliet meets Yellowstone vibes, delicious darkness, and a broody and brazen cowboy hero that left me breathless and burning.
Ms. Kent had me at the fire-hot cover because men in skull masks are my kryptonite. Then the triple dedication brought all the emotions out to play. Trigger warnings? Skip. Not needed for this girl. And … the prologue. That first line caught me in its clutches, roping me in, and I remained a prisoner of this dark romance.
Readers are transported to Rawhide Ranch where the Grayson family rules, catching all in their intriguing web of darkness and danger. Roped is a hard-fought journey of love, trauma, and vengeance that rages with fire and feels. I was smitten with the broody and brazen-mouthed cowboy and the stunning and sassy princess who keeps him on his toes. Rad and Peyton are undeniable soulmates and I felt their delicious tension and combustible chemistry grab me through the pages.
“I know he’s here even though I can’t see him.”
I was as OBSESSED with Roped as much as the Phantom was with his Princess. Rad is the ultimate morally gray hero who’s possessive, an A-game stalker, and a bit unhinged as he teeters between hot and cold … basically my kryptonite. This cowboy knows how to use his rope. Lovely readers, grab a fan and maybe a cool towel, as this romance brings the heat, heart, and harrowing danger. Roped for one wild ride! Pure, heart-pounding addiction.
Raddison is officially my favorite unhinged stalker there is. Hands down ass up and lasso me up lol!
But on a more serious note, this is a dark romance with elements of: Bloodplay, rope play, Dom/sub, Bondage, CNC and primal play. (and let me tell you it is that freaking good)
What happens when what you want and what you hate is absolutely intertwined with one another. This here brings the element of the whole story when two fated lovers meet in the shadows, when Rad saves her from a tragic event, she becomes obsessed. But this obsession is an absolute two-way street. This story line takes us further along into the land feud that has taken over for decades between the Turners and the Grayson's. I do recommend reading both books because there are some important details given on book one (Branded) that are not given on this second book making the series even better. I am completely obsessed with Raddison and his unhinged obsession. So let me say this reflag in book (hell yeah) would I be here in real life I don't effin think so but give me a 6'4 ft cowboy who can tie me up in books and life than yall.
Roped was my first NetGalley read, and it did not disappoint. This dark romance follows Peyton and Radisson, whose lives are tied together by a complicated past. As they grow closer, they must confront painful histories, personal struggles, and unexpected emotions that challenge their assumptions about themselves and each other.
Radisson was the standout character for me. Scarred by his past and convinced he is a monster because of how others see him, his journey of grief, trauma, and healing was compelling and handled with care by Saffron Kent. Peyton was the perfect match for him, seeing beyond his scars and supporting him while navigating her own family trauma.
This book explores heavy topics, including sexual assault and generational trauma, so readers should check content warnings beforehand. Despite its darker themes, the romance felt genuine and well earned, with strong emotional tension and character development throughout. With emotional depth and plenty of spice, Roped was an engaging dark romance, and I’ll definitely be looking for more from Saffron Kent.
Holy…. (Retracted but just imagine all the cuss words. And drool. Lots of drool. I’m feral okay????)
Peyton is the enemy. Radisson has come to collect. And one thing about a Hunter… they enjoy the chase. And they always catch their prey.
Peyton knows she’s being watched. And she wants to draw him out. Because her best friend is missing…. And that bastard had to have taken her. And if not… then he knows who did.
But Peyton is in enemy hands. Because he’s her enemy too. Her families enemy. But she doesn’t know just what she’s gotten into with Radisson. Or what secrets he’s keeping.
In this delicious, dark romance- get ready to have your jaw on the floor. Your panties melted. Everything dark and delicious a cowboy romance could be… is written here. I’d happily give up my control for Radisson any day. And that EPILOGUE?!?!? Yes. Please.
Thank You to NetGalley, Grand Central Publishing and Saffron Kent for the eARC of Roped and all the deliciousness a cowboy can bring!
Tropes: - Dark Cowboy Romance - Stalker Romance - Strong-willed city girl FMC - Masked & scarred MMC - Kidnapping/Captive - Secrets and plot twists - Loyalty and revenge - Obsession & pining - Age gap - Really spicy 🔥🔥🔥
This was my first Saffron A. Kent book and I can’t wait to read more from this author. Roped was intense, dark, full of angst, and omg so freaking hot (like, really, I was not prepared for the god tier level of spice). The dynamic between Peyton and Radisson was twisted, but in a way you can tell they are completely and undoubtedly made for each other, and their tension was driving me insane since the first page, and I mean that as the highest compliment.
I do think the book was longer than necessary. Some parts got a little repetitive and felt like filler more than something that was driving the plot forward (there’s no reason to repeat that many times how big the MMC was), but overall I enjoyed the story and this universe. I’d love to keep reading more about the other characters!
Thank you so much NetGalley and Forever for the e-arc!
