We are back in Service, Texas where former military men come for a visit and end up finding love and a new life. This time, the story belongs to former soldier Luke Sawyer and single mom and local veterinarian, Samantha Readon. Luke has lost much in his life, most recently a team member in an explosion that changed Luke’s life in more ways than one. While in Afghanistan, the wife of one of his friends teamed Luke up with an elementary student for the child’s biography project. Mattie, Sam’s daughter, ended up with Luke. What started out as a project, became a lifeline for Luke. Mattie was a breath of fresh air and in becoming acquainted with the child, he became acquainted with her mother as well. As he travels around the nation taking pictures, he decides to visit not only his former teammates, but also Mattie. Whom he never expected to change his life forever, was Sam. Their road to a HEA was not always smooth, but worth every turn and twist. Especially once Sam realized age differences were incidental. The story was engaging from the first page to the last. The main characters and Mattie were well developed and the story was touching. Kudos to the author for reminding us that as individuals and as a nation , we must do whatever we can to assist the brave men and women that risk their lives to keep us safe. Lastly, this reader loved the reference to Corinthians 1:4 “ I will always thank God for you”. Reminding us to embrace and tell our loved ones how much they are truly loved. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, given to me by Tule Publishing via BookFunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own. “A Texas Soldier Vow”, by Julie Benson, is a romance between a lonely former soldier and a veterinarian single mom, partially born from a precocious teen’s scheming. I liked Luke, Samantha and Mattie, the very smart and funny heroine’s daughter. Luke is a protector at heart. A former soldier without roots, he’s involved in a personal protography project but has no home or family and is a character marked by loneliness. I liked how Samantha and Mattie are good for him and how the three enjoy doing things or working together. I thought the story could be shorter and found weird seeing so many women throwing themselves at Luke, or inviting him, even if the man is a “walking wet-dream”.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader’s copy of this book for an honest opinion.
Really enjoyed A Texas Soldier's Vow by Julie Benson. The book is the third in The Men of Service Texas series. I hadn't read book two in the series but I still enjoyed the storyline, characters and dialogue of A Texas Soldier's Vow. I hope there will be more books in this series or characters in other books.
This was such a good story !!! A service buddy talks Luke into taking part in a school project, allowing him to meet nine year old Mattie. It eventually leads him into maintaining a text connection with her mother, Samantha. After his buddy's death and Luke's subsequent medical discharge, Luke feels aimless -wandering around taking photos for a book he might never write. Mattie and fate conspire to get Sam and Luke together and what ensues makes for a beautiful romance. A really good book !!!
Loved this book and the characters within. Samantha as a single mother was such a relatable character and all of her worries and concerns were very realistic. Landon, totally book boyfriend material by the way, was such a lovable character. I really love this series and can’t wait to read more.
