After a childhood in a gilded cage, Roya has devoted her life to learning about poisons and weapons from her sexy and much older mentor, Thorn, the most famous and deadly assassin in the Guild.
But when he flunks her out of the Assassins Guild, Roya has the urge to use her murdering skills on him. Instead, she runs away, and straight into danger.
Now she’s being hunted by cruel kings and powerful warlords, somehow all privy to her deepest secret—that she is a mythical Omega, thought to be extinct. When Thorn joins forces with a prince, a warrior-scholar, and a pirate to protect her, Roya feels trapped again. She’s dead set on killing the desire she feels for the men who may be her soulmates.
But there may not be enough poison in the world to save her from her true enemy.
What comes after the bloody, happy ending? A happier, bloodier one. Roya’s story ends with a new novella, The Assassin’s Gift. Roya is the third volume in The Lost Lines Collection, a series of interconnected RH fantasy Omegaverse romances with humor, angst, and plenty of spice. This omnibus edition contains the full-length novel, The Assassin’s Promise, and the new epilogue novella, The Assassin’s Gift, as well as maps and new character art. For mature readers only. Once upon a time, Merri Bright tucked romance novels behind all her textbooks and read love stories instead of the lessons. Now she writes the same kind of books she’s always loved, dreaming up stories about naughty angels, misunderstood demons, sexy shifters, growly Alpha males, and all sorts of dragons.
She drinks cinnamon tea while she writes, and believes in the power of naps, kitten cuddles, and long walks with her dog. Come watch Merri be socially awkward at Merri’s FB page or Instagram @merribright, or email her at merri@merribright.com.
Roya was the youngest of the "broken omegas" raised with her sisters in King Millen's harem. Once they were rescued, she wanted nothing more than to never be caged again. She convinced their rescuer, the Guild Assassin Thorn, to train her as one of the Guild. She became adept at all manners of murdering, but when it was time to graduate, to keep her safe, Thorne failed her. Now she's on the run, being hunted by the Guild, Warlords, Kings, and in danger of Alphas everywhere. Thorne, along with a warrior-scholar, a winged pirate, and a newly awakened prince, joins together to keep her safe. Roya makes their mission more difficult, determined she will not be trapped by her Omega desires, despite how much she may want her protectors. There's only so long she can keep herself safe from her heart, however.
I love this stubborn Omega! Every misstep, every brave or selfless act, every reveal made me love her more. She had just the right amount of sass and possibly too much bravado. Then there were her men: Thorn, her teacher in the assassin’s guild, always too eager to sacrifice himself; respectful Kavin, the scholar/warrior prince whose father had purchased Roya; dutiful Altair, the sleeping prince she rescues from his regent’s control, and her sky bond Icarus, the wyvern shifter pirate whose brother, the King demanded Roya to replace his lost Omega. They were all wonderful, but Thorn was at another level.
This updated version of Roya includes a new epilogue novella, The Assassin’s Gift. It's the tale of a honeymoon trip and the meeting of Roya and another favorite Omega. The two women together offer the story I never realized how much I needed. They are both Omegas who would rather stab (or poison) first and ask questions later. They are hysterical, and I now want other crossover stories. Finally, this series is Omega fantasy perfection. The characters, worldbuilding, storytelling, and relationships are all exquisite.
4.75 stars. This book contains two stories - the original, where Roya, the female omega lead, meets and matches with her fated mates, and the follow on that shows them working through new challenges and remembering where she came from. The stories are quintuple POV, well written and edited, and sweet and spicy, reverse harem, fantasy romances between Roya, and her male alpha mates, Thorn, her mentor in the assassin’s guild, Kavin, the scholar/warrior prince from a medieval territory, Altair, then hostage prince she rescues from his regent’s control, and Icarus, the wyvern shifter prince of another territory. I enjoyed Roya’s personal resilience and courage, her determination and independence, and her certainty that she was more than an omega stereotype. I enjoyed Thorn’s protectiveness and his thoroughness in equipping her with knowledge and skills for self-protection. I enjoyed Kavin’s determination to respect Roya’s independence and self-determination. I enjoyed Altair’s empathy and genuine understanding of her situation. I enjoyed Icarus’ initial stubbornness and the character development that saw him welcome the other males as part of a relationship with Roya. I enjoyed the spicy intimate scenes, and the building interrelationships. I enjoyed the non-romance plot and the active resolution. I enjoyed the overlap of some characters and reference to other stories in the series, though this story functionally stands alone. I enjoyed the joyful confidence in their relationship the characters finished with.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
Roya by Merri Bright Book in The Lost Lines Collection. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶🌶💀💀 Merri Bright is definitely my favourite author. Her omegaverse might have dark themes, but the subtle humour and slow growth of the harem is pure decadence. This book continues six years after The King's Omega, Vila story and has overlapping characters but can be read as a standalone. Roya, rescued by Thorn, entered into the guild, failed out by Thorn. Unbeknownst to Roya that dark plots are planned and executed that have her at the end of chains. As she runs, she finds her strength, worth, and her harem to keep her safe. Hot tempered and over-proud, I find her to be a wonderful MC. Thorn the Guild assassin, Daddy of the harem. Is grumpy, aloof, and swoonworthy. Kavin is young, scholarly, and sweet. Altair, the broken prince, meant to be king, charming, and honest. Icarus, the pirate, exiled prince, and a wyvern have a sky bond with Roya. An action-packed read filled with running from assassins, sailing through storms, surviving poisons, saving a to be king, almost drowning in ocean, flying with wyvern and finding family, love and devotion. Tropes: Omegaverse. Found family. Forced Proximity. Voyeurism. Pirates. Wyvern. Mated. Knotting. Daddy kink. Big 🍆. Virgin MC's. Poisons. Quotes: “No matter what they do to you, you are not your body. You are your soul. And you are strong, Roya. Strong enough to defeat them all.”
“Come, little queen,” Thorn demanded. “Come for us both.”
I love an interconnected universe and was so ready for the next instalment of Merri Bright's omegaverse. Roya is very different to the other omegas in the series so far and her assassin background had me hooked in from the start. I'd have love to have seen more assassin adventures but I was glad Roya wasn't solo for long and opening the book with boiling an egg was something I didn't see coming!
Thorn, the man you are! Gavriel officially has a contender for my favourite Merri Bright MMC. Honestly the other MMCs didn't get a look in as when he wasn't there I was looking for him. Altair and Icarus' plots were really interesting and I did like the others but I just loved the connection between Thorn and Roya the most.
I have read the series completely out of order and was thrilled to get a cameo from Icarus' mysterious brother whose reputation has preceded him. After reading the Goddess's Spy, I have been desperate to know what he did and its partially revealed here. I'm definitely reading that one next as I need to see the grovel because, wow!
My interpretation of the star system; 3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again 4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series 5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
With this volume release, I want to share my original thought from my review of Roya's book "The Assassin's Promise" plus some additional thoughts.
"So when I first read the blurb, I was instantly excited for the release of this book. Not that I didn't enjoyed the previous books in the series, but an Omega who can hold her own and be as deadly with her knowledge and skills? WIN, WIN, WIN! You will not be disappointed at all if you love this genre and definitely not one to be missed!"
Is it wrong to say Roya is one of the most ambitious Omegas to date? Nope, I wouldn't say so. I mean, she could be living the pampered life, but our girl wants to be known for more than what nature (or the Goddess in this case) has said she should be. And when things don't work out, there's always plan B. And her plan B is an adventure our girl is gonna make whether the Alphas she encounters allows her to or not. Good thing they know what a treasure Roya is and will do all they can to win her in the end. Thank the Goddess.
Whether you are a new reader of this series or re-reading them again as the author volumes them up, I do hope you give this volume a try especially if you'd enjoy Volume 1 and 2.
Poisoned kisses, killer tension, and a heroine who slays...literally. Every woman needs a hobby, and Roya chose murder. Honestly? Iconic.
This book drips with danger, desire, and deliciously sharp prose. A lethal heroine raised in a gilded cage, trained by her older, devastatingly sexy assassin mentor? Yes. A Guild that dares to flunk her out? Their funeral. Kings, warlords, pirates, princes, and a warrior-scholar all circling her like wolves while she’s hiding a mythical secret that makes her irresistible and untouchable? Inject it directly into my veins.
The chemistry is feral. The men are powerful, possessive, and painfully devoted. Roya is smart, ruthless, and absolutely refuses to be owned...even when fate (and her body) insists otherwise. Every page balances bloodshed with yearning, and every “happy ending” comes with a body count and a wicked grin.
Seductive, savage, and unapologetically dark, this story doesn’t ask for permission. It sharpens its blade, smiles sweetly, and leaves you begging for more. What comes after the bloody, happy ending? A happier, bloodier one and I’ll be first in line.
If there is one thing Merri Bright can do, it’s write an FMC I will love. Roya is a fierce omega that has had to battle to make it in life. Betrayal, secrets, and hidden agendas make Roya’s life so much more difficult than she ever dreamed. But thanks to learning so many hardships, she is ready to face the hardest head on.
Roya has four mates and they are not for the faint of heart. But, for an Omega with trust issues - do they want you for you or because you are an Omega?!?!
“The next one who says he wants me because I’m some Goddess-damned magical Omega won’t live to regret it!”
I will say, these Alphas know how to make their Omega purr and they show her just how much they love her.
“I will f-ck you every day, if you ask it, my love. I will knot you every night. You will be in my arms whenever you want it; I am yours.”
I absolutely loved the glimpses of the Omegas of this series and their alphas. I can’t wait for more to come.
Roya is the third volume in The Lost Lines Collection. It is a why choose, fantasy, omegaverse romance with action, spice, angst, and humor. The story is told in first person with multiple POV.
Roya has had a hard life and has learned many deadly skills. Now that her secret is out, that she is a mythical omega, she is on the run from those who want to use her. She will need all of her abilities, plus learn to trust her mates, in order to evade the threats.
Thorn, Kavin, Altair, and Icarus are all Roya's mates and are each perfect for her in their own specific ways. These four will fight for Roya and their HEA with her.
The writing, pace, and flow of the story were fantastic, as were the characters, plot, storytelling, character development, relationship development, storyline, and world building.
If you love a bada$$ and skilled FMC with your fantasy omegaverse, then I'd definitely recommend this book.
I absolutely love the world that Merri Bright has created for the omegaverse. What started with Vali's story has now expanded and we get to see Roya and her journey as an Omega.
We originally saw Roya when she was rescued from Millen's harem in Vali's book. After the first book, Roya started training with Thorn in the Assassin's Guild to become a great assassin. When things go awry, Roya goes on the run with Thorn trying to protect her. Along the way, we meet a few other Alpha's who are to die for. Each provides something different to Roya to help protect her and keep her safe. love how each of the guys is so different and each fits perfectly to aid their Omegas.
Merri Bright has created another amazing book and cannot wait to continue reading more from her. received an advanced copy from the author, I am providing this review of my own thoughts and opinions.
Oh my goodness! Merri Bright is the queen of writing Omegaverse books. I just fall in love with the FMC's.
Roya is so smart and determined. I could not put this book down. There is adventure and secrets too. She wants to be known for more than being an Omega. She has been through a lot and is fierce in everything she does.
Each of her guys bring something to her that is needed. Man, each of them is something. I am definitely a why choose girl because could not pick a favorite.
The spice is definitely there and had me getting a fan and there was banter too which I love.
I am in awe of this book and cannot wait for more!
Next to Wren, Roya is my most favorite of the lost omegas in the series. I love a self-sufficient FMC who does not need to be saved, and this story delivers that and so much more. The world building in this book is exquisite, and it's almost as if I can picture the islands and seascape. The action, intrigue, and romance make Roya's story so hard to put down. It's also great to see how seamlessly Merri weaves in past and future important characters. It's a must read for why-choose omegaverse fans!
This is another page turner for the series and I loved Roya. She was so fierce and independent. She went through a lot of hardships and that really helped shape her. The fact that she was an omega assassin really hooked me in. The engaging plot, clear world building and her four mates kept me glued to my reader ;) I love how each of her mates brought something unique that she needed. Action, adventure, drama, intrigue, secrets, betrayal, found family, trust and hot spice made for a thrilling reading ride. So good and I can't wait for the next book :D
This book has everything you could ask for in a book! Action, humor, spice and romance! Roya is such a great character I just love her and all of her men too.I was worried at first that I wasn't going to find what happened to the guild master but I was not disappointed. I love how all these books connect but can be read apart from each other and still make sense. I also love that Ratter makes an appearance because she is one of my favorite characters in this series.
Merri Bright has created such a wonderful world for these stories. Her omegaverse universe is always so captivating you can’t help but want to know more about every character.
Roya is such a great combination of action, humour and romance. For someone who needs a good plot to really get into a story, this one absolutely hit the nail on the head. Roya was a pleasure to read, and I can’t wait to see what else happens in this universe!
I devoured Roya's story! From the get go, I was addicted! This book had adventure, danger, and action. Along with secrets, a few twists, and betrayal.
Roya was such a strong FMC. She was confident, determined, and smart. I'm not sure I could pick a favorite of her guys though. They each were unique and held a purpose in her life. I enjoyed seeing their relationships develop. The banter, spice, and eventually love. Merri did another fantastic job bringing Roya's story to life!
Roya is a young girl on the run. She should have done what seamstress said. Now she has been marked as a wolfen tithe. The town is attacked by raiders and Roya doesn’t go to safety but runs into the woods. A dark wolf approaches her in the forest where she is hiding. She finally learns that she is a true omega. After that she starts collecting alphas. I want to be Roya. Merri writes fun adventures with all sorts of twists and turns.
I am in love with this world, and Roya is my favorite FMC with her chosen profession and skills. Her guys are pretty amazing as well. I love the Romantasy vibes with the near extinct Omegas. If you want an Omegaverse series, that doesn't feel repeated and overdone, this is what you are looking for!
An Omega who would rather stab first (or poison) and ask questions later - Roya is everything I didn't even know I needed in a FMC! Fantastic story - start to finish - with an evolving Omega assassin and the men she gathers along the way. Can't wait to read the next one in this series!
OMG what a story about Roya. It had me on the edge of my seat when reading it. And someone I wasn't expecting made an appearance as well. As always Merri Bright manages to take you away and you feel you are part of the story.
This is my favorite of The Lost Lines series! Roya is a fierce assassin, who also happens to be an Omega - but she refuses to let her designation rule her life. Unfortunately, biology trumps all! She still finds love (and some sexy Alphas).
I’m loving these covers, they’re just as beautiful as the stories within. Merri knows how to keep any reader interested from the first page to the last with her characters and the world she’s created for them.
I love Roya. She is not only an Omega but she is a badass assassin. Roya and her men are absolutely characters that you want more of. Merri always has characters that will have you completely hooked. Can’t wait for the next story Merri writes.
I love how fierce Roya is and how her men compliment her. 😍 She always interested me in Vali's story and I was happy to see her become an assassin. 💕 I loved the additional story in this and seeing Ratter. Looking forward to the conclusion of Ratter's story! ❤
Another amazing read by this author. Never disappoints. Fantasy omegaverse that will have you laughing and crying. the FMC is a kickarse assassin in training and gives her mates a run for their money.
A fiesty FMC much like others in the series, absolutely loved the characters in the harem, especially Kavin. I'm always a sucker for the sweet scholars.
Please check all CW and TW before reading this one. Roya! She's a complete baddie! Her skills with poisons is admirable lol. The tension between her and Thorn omg that was delicious and had me on the edge of my seat. I love that Roya not only has one love interest but many more! They were all the right fit for her, but i did have a special like for Thorn.
Who doesn't love an Omega who knows her poisons? “You’ll make Avery lovely corpse”… Roya: The Lost Lines Collection by Merri Bright had me hooked from the book description alone! Her Omegas are anything but weak, they can give any alpha a run for his money and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty (or bloody). Roya was defiantly by favorite book so far out of the series.
This was an amazing re-read!!! Roya is just as spunky, stubborn and full of fire as you would expect. I adored her men and how they absolutely worshipped the ground she walked on. The story was entertaining, funny at times, sweet and spicy. There was plenty of intrigue, characters you fall in love with and a story that sucks you in.
