Just as things are finally coming together for Daisy's life, another murder strikes the small, coastal town of Cozy Creek. This time a greedy real estate developer is the victim. The misspellings, punctuation and low intellect word usage is just appalling. Plus the total unreality the author wants you to swallow throughout the text... This book is for the stupid.
Daisy McDare and the Deadly Real Estate Killer is book four in the series by K.M. Morgan. Like the others, it is a quick and easy and fun read for summer. Daisy is on her way to a new job. She is decorating the model home for Stinson and Sons Construction. She doesn’t know how well they will sell because they are on the outskirts of town and far from the center of town. However, they are affordable and she is thinking of buying one herself. When she arrives, she witnesses an argument between Patrick Potter and Scott Stinson. Patrick is an old family friend and it was he who had recommended her for this job. Scott Stinson is the owner of the construction company. Scott is stingy and arrogant. He is firing Patrick for insubordination, trying to unionize, and asking for better pay and benefits. Scott demands Patrick leave immediately. He tells Patrick, “I am going back to making millions while you are on the unemployment line. I can to whatever I want.” Instead of arguing, Patrick leaves. Thinking it better for her, Daisy waits to go into the office to talk to Scott. She does talk to Patrick and he tells her not to worry about him but to do her job as best as she could. When she goes into the office, she overhears the secretary Madison and Adam, Scott’s son, venting their anger. Adam is angry because his younger brother was promoted to manager and he thought he should have gotten it. However, he has plans that will set things straight since everyone knew the last word on anything was Scott’s. She lets her presence be known and Madison takes her back to Scott’s office where he is in a shouting match with Owen, his younger son. It does not seem to be a good start at Stinson and Sons. However, when she goes in to see Scott, he acts as if he has had a wonderful day so far. Scott takes her to the model home which she finds well below par. He tells her she is to make them into looking like a fabulous home. She is put out with his pompous nature and arrogant assumption that he is better than those who would buy his homes. However, she needs the job. Now she must work her magic. After lunch, she takes her designs to see Scott for approval. Once more he is in a yelling match, this time with his wife. It ends with her threatening divorce and his telling her to try. What has she gotten herself into? After a wonderful date with her new boyfriend, Daisy was ready to go to work the next day. That euphoria lasted until she got to the construction site only to find the police there. Scott Stinson had been murdered. Detective Crumple was working the case and actually seemed to be on top of things finally. However, he wasn’t happy about her solving his last four cases for him. As she got ready to leave the construction site the next morning after being told to take the day off, she saw them bring Patrick Potter to be questioned by Detective Crumple. When Patrick was arrested the next day, Daisy knew she had to get involved in solving the murder. She could not let a family friend be railroaded. I loved this book.
This is K.M. Morgan's fourth book in this series. Interior designer, Daisy McDare, finds herself decorating a model home in the Majestic Estates of Stinson and Sons Construction Company which, in reality, is a cheap housing development. Her job is to give it an upscale appearance. Prior to her employment, Daisy’s soon to be boss is overheard firing an employee who wanted to be paid fairly. That individual told Daisy about the job opportunity. Following that, she overhears arguments he has with his oldest son and his wife accusing him of cheating on her. It comes as no surprise that he is soon found dead.
Daisy once again finds herself involved in the case and the bumbling detective, Chris Crumple, who charges her friend with the murder. Things seem to be going well with her boyfriend Gavin, a really sweet guy, who is given a larger role in this book and his character is further developed as well. Daisy is quick witted and very tenacious. Once she starts looking for the villain she won't let up until she finds him/her. Daisy has the ability to read people's eyes to determine if they are telling the truth. She believes her friend is innocent and sets out to prove it. Daisy put her intelligence, love of chocolate and delicious cupcakes to work to figure out who really killed Scott.
The mystery was a little slow getting started, but once it did I was hooked and couldn't wait to find out who the killer was. This is a cute, cozy mystery. There's a bit of romance, and some humor also which makes it more enjoyable. I asked my young adult daughter to read this book as well. She and I agree the target reading audience is for those who desire a quick, light story or teens and young adults who enjoy cozy mysteries. The character development (other than Daisy and Gavin) is shallow and, the plot has minimal intrigue.
The misspellings, punctuation, errors in grammar and missing words or inappropriate word use is unacceptable. These issues make several paragraphs totally up to the reader’s imagination. This is the second book I have read from the series and, honestly, feel the author needs a different editor to markedly improve the integrity of the books. There is a definite improvement in the overall quality of the story line since the first book in the series was written. I believe K.M. Morgan has found her niche and if the editing issues would resolve, I would look forward to reading further adventures of Daisy McDare (and my daughter would too). The mystery starts slowly, but once it gained momentum it held my interest. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a short cozy mystery and is willing to overlook the typographical errors. Given the degree of improvement since the first book in the series I would rate this at 4 stars.
I received a PDF copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review
This is a short book for a murder mystery with an interior designer sleuth who has a soft spot for sweets. Daisy McDare is the interior designer by profession but a super sleuth on the side when dead bodies keep popping up wherever she goes. As a character, she doesn't seem that bad but she has a few qualities that don't really make her seem like that great of a person. I know she's supposed to be an interior designer but the way she's written doesn't really say if she's good or not at her job since she never actually does anything. It could've had some more descriptive words to associate that she was an interior designer. Her profession could have been anything because all of your focus was her sleuthing than her actually designing anything. She also throws around a lot of underhanded accusations to stir up trouble to "smoke out" the culprit, she sounds like a little busy body, I don't know why the other characters would even talk to her. She's not even that nice. Her boyfriend is so "perfect" that he has no personality, he's just there to be her "yes man" and give her everything she wants to make her happy. This story is pretty much all about her. The villains are painted as the normal villains who have shady secrets and dysfunctional relationships, the victims as the innocent people who did nothing wrong except have very public angry outbursts that made them seem like they were the culprit.
I wanted this story to have a bit more depth because it was actually ok. Also it left you wondering about certain characters she talked to and stirred up some very emotional things for. They don't even touch back on those people, they were talked to once and then written out as if they didn't matter because it was all about Daisy. What happened to the long lost daughter who plotted her revenge against a father who was terrible? Nothing happened apparently since they never tied up her story. And if they make a sequel with these other people that were talked to one time that would make this story even worse because it doesn't give the reader, me, the incentive to continue with this series. This story is missing a lot to make it a great story or at least have better characters. I would like to give this a more positive review but it's missing too much to make it a better one. I initially liked the story but the more I read it, the less I liked it. It made me taste the disappointment of how lacking this story is. It started out tasting like a delicious chocolate chip cookie and then kind of went south and ended with tasting like a carob chip cookie.
Daisy is tired of being involved in detective work. She is about to start a new decorating job and is hoping that there will not be anymore drama in her life. Daisy is hired to decorate a model home for a new development. She goes out shopping and is prepared to get started the next day.
Upon arrival though she see police cars and flashing lights. Someone killed the owner of the firm in charge of the new subdivision. Daisy wasn't going to get involved until suspicion turns to a family friend. She is more determined than ever to find the real murderer when he is arrested.
Good series. This one seemed to jump into the crime faster than I expected, which didn't seem right. I was hoping for more plot development.
I was provided a free copy of this book by the author. I did not enjoy it at all but finished it because the author asked me to read it. This book is very disappointing from every perspective. I do not recommend this book or this author.
Cozy Creek. Daisy McDare (interior decorator) & Gavin Watson (PI) were seeing quite a lot of each other. As were Rosie (Gavin’s corgi) & Shamus (Daisy’s West Highland terrier). Samantha Johnson (Daisy’s BFF) owned/ran Sweet Tooth.
Stinson & Sons Construction had hired Daisy to do the decorating on a brand-new model home in a new housing development area called Majestic Estates. Daisy had just arrived & overheard Scott Stinson (65+, owner) firing Patrick Potter (45+, construction foreman). Other employees are: Adam Stinson (40, Scott/Kelly’s eldest son/brother), Owen Stinson (Scott/Kelly’s younger son/brother, GM), Madison Mitchell (30+, receptionist, Scott’s ex-GF), & Ellie Edelson (Scott’s asst.). Owen was not happy with Scott at all. They had contracts to build 400 new homes. Now it was Kelly Stinson (60+, wife) too yell/scream at Scott. There had been another murder in Cozy Creek; Scott was dead. Detective Chris Crumple Cozy Creek PD) was doing the questioning/interviews. It seems everyone had an alibi. Scott had been arrested & was now in jail.
Daisy had quite a list of suspects. Patrick Potter (Madison’s ex-BF) had been charged with murder & arrested also. Will the real murder suspect be caught & brought to justice?
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written cozy mystery book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great cozy mystery movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Daisy Mcdare is back. She has another design job, but this time she's designing a model home for a jerk real estate developer. When her boss once again turns up dead she's in the middle of another murder investigation. This time though she doesn't want to get involved, but when a family friend is taken in, she must dust off her inner investigator and find the real killer before they can strike again.
Daisy has some pretty bad luck. Somehow her bosses keep ending up dead. Why do people keep hiring her? But seriously, with each new mystery and new case, Daisy gets more interesting. The writing and editing of the story get better as well.
I like Gavin, I'm glad that he's getting more story and time in the book. He's a really sweet guy and I hope things continue to go well between him and Daisy and he continues to have a larger role in these stories.
The mystery was a little slow getting started, but once it did I was hooked and couldn't wait to find out who the killer was. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a short cozy mystery.
This is another humorous, cupcake-tasting murder mystery with Daisy McDare.
This time Daisy, an interior decorator, has a job decorating the model home in the Majestic Estates of Stinson and Sons Construction Co. The housing is anything but majestic. And of course, Daisy finds out about all the arguments between the Scott, the owner, his wife and their sons. The day she shows up to decorate, Daisy finds out her friend who is the foreman of the construction crew is fired.
Then she finds out the next morning that Scott is murdered and the Chris Crumple the bumbling detective has charged the foreman with the murder. Is he really the murder or will Daisy put her smarts and all those delicious cupcakes to work to find out who really killed Scott.
I got this book as a pdf from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Ok, dealing with real estate agents can be very problematic...some are helpful and want to get you into the perfect property; others...well, others get what they deserve. Daisy tries to leave the investigation to the professionals, but when it becomes personal, she decides to get involved.
Not every book has the be the next "Great American Novel." Sometimes a book just needs to be enjoyable, a fun respite, from the daily grind. K.M. Morgan's Daisy McDare adventure "The Deadly Real Estate Affair" is just that! Daisy is a fun, realistic character, the murder mystery is not too complex, and her surrounding companions are quirky or fun.
This book was given to me from the author to read and review. It is very short, almost like a short story. I have to be honest, it was not very well written. The characters were not developed and pretty uninteresting. The main character, Daisy, had a real addiction to chocolate. The story almost revolves around her chocolate. The plot is very predictable and the conversations choppy. It was difficult to finish this and would not recommend it.
This was the first book I have read by K.M. Morgan and I thought it was AWESOME!! This book was so fast paced and full of suspects. Daisy Is always outsmarting Detective Crumple. I can't wait to read the entire series!!
To each their own with cozy mysteries, but there is a big need for an editor here. Punctuation and grammar are a serious problem.
On a personal note, the words said and asked are our friends when writing. We will not break out in hives if we use them instead of any number of synonyms. Promise.
I received a free copy of this book in a giveaway and voluntarily chose to review it. This was an enjoyable story about an interior designer that ends up in the middle of a murder mystery. Daisy is the type of person that would much rather watch a romantic comedy that a murder mystery, but she is caught up in the situation and cannot let the an innocent person go to prison for a crime they did not commit. It is a light hearted story without the "edge of your seat" tension involved in a lot of mysteries. The supporting characters are very entertaining. These are the best friends I would want in my life. But it would be nice if Daisy did watch a murder mystery occasionally and learn a bit more about investigation procedures. I would recommend this story for anyone that enjoys cozy mysteries.
The Deadly Real Estate Affair is the fourth book in the Daisy McDare series. Since I missed book two and three I was not sure how the new boyfriend came into the picture.
Once again Daisy is setting out to do a decorating job. She is excited to be setting up a model home for a new community that is being built. Tired of renting she is hoping to get a good deal on one of the new homes however for her she runs into more then she bargains for when the owner ends up dead.
I cannot say I really saw the writing improve since the first book in the series however I still found it a short, entertaining read. I did look for more Daisy McDare books on my Nook but I could not find anymore, one day I may check the library.
This is the fourth book in the Daisy McDare Cozy Creek Mystery series by Kim Morgan. Daisy McDare is an interior decorator turned detective sleuth becoming entangled in a murder case in the small town of Cozy Creek. Daisy was hired at Stinson and Sons Construction to decorate the model homes at Majestic Estates. Daisy discovers her boss Scott Stinson owner of Stinson and Sons Construction is strangled to death. The police arrest the wrong suspect who happens to be Daisy’s friend Patrick Potter. Daisy takes the investigation into her own hands with the help of her boyfriend and private investigator Gavin Watson find the real killer before it is too late. I really enjoyed this fantastic cozy mystery novel.
I suppose anyone can set up the circumstances of a murder (angry wife, angry sons, everybody else who hates a man who thinks only of himself, dead body at a construction site, handy murder weapons lying around). But not everyone can write about it. This author can't. The characters are simple, one-dimensional, and heavy handed. The sleuth stomps around accusing everyone of having the perfect motive and that she's going to make sure the police know it (she thinks this is "low key" investigation). I'm glad I was able to read through it so quickly, because it was the worst writing I've encountered in many, many years.
Daisy McDare and the Deadly Real Estate Affair (Daisy McDare #4), my fourth read/listen from author K.M. Morgan, although I own sixteen of her books I’d never gotten around to reading one until I read The Deadly Floral Affair. Each book has been better than the one before, a well-written clean cozy mystery. Since I own both the Kindle & Audible editions I was able to read along while listening. Narrator Caroline Shively talented narration added to the book's enjoyment. Up next is Daisy McDare and the Deadly Rock Star Affair (Daisy McDare #5). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Daisy McDare wants nothing more than to be an interior decorator but she can’t deny that dead bodies keep turning up wherever she is. There is no way the bumbling Detective Crumple is going to solve this cased, especially when he has already arrested one of her friends for the murder. This case will be a challenge but she has encouragement from her new boyfriend, Gavin.
I am looking forward to a developing relationship between Daisy and Gavin. This is another fun cozy mystery with a little romance and plenty of good desserts.
The mystery, while not particularly engaging, is adequate; the caricatures (oops, characters!) are not. Daisy, the lead, is smug, arrogant, and when she refers to dealing with a half dozen egomaniacs this reader was left to wonder if she was including herself. The detective is a cartoonish buffoon with a fragile ego, and the other players are either unlikable or forgettable. The overall tone of the writing seems fit for pre-teens; regretfully, I find nothing to recommend about this book.
Daisy once again eats her way through a murder investigation. This time Daisy has been hired to do the decor for a model home. The developer is anything but model and there are numerous people that want him dead. Daisy begins her own investigation since she doesn’t trust the detective on the case to do a thorough job.
Daisy is hired to decorate a model home, and her new boss is a very selfish and mean person. It doesn't surprise her when he's murdered, but as a good family friend is being blamed for the crime she knows it's up to her to get the truth and solve this murder.
I wouldn't read another thing from this author! No character development to be found. . There were constant grammatical errors. Where were the proof-readers? I know, out for a donut! Where was the edge of your seat mystery build up? Where was the turn of the page excitement?
Fun, short cozy read. Even though Daisy McDare only wants to be an interior decorator, she once again is involved with solving a murder. Her family friend is wrongly accused and she has to find the real killer. Love that she still visits the Sweet Tooth and Granny Annie for her cupcakes.
This isn't deep. But it isn't meant to be. My only complaint is the author way over used her love of chocolate. It became distracting. Good mystery in the story however. Hence the 4 star. Good book
