The First Devotional for Christians and Seekers Integrating Mystical or Psychedelic Experiences with Faith
#1 Amazon Best Seller in 6 Categories.
What if your most profound spiritual experiences—whether in prayer, in nature, in silence, or through psychedelics—were not detours from Christianity, but invitations deeper into it?

Beyond Words is the first 52-week devotional for Christians, spiritual explorers, and anyone integrating mystical or psychedelic experiences within a life of faith. Following the Year A lectionary, this companion offers weekly Gospel reflections written through what contributors call “the mystical lens”—a way of seeing Christ that honors both ancient Christian wisdom and contemporary spiritual awakening.

Featuring insights from 27 spiritual leaders across 15 Christian traditions, including participants in the Johns Hopkins and NYU psilocybin studies for clergy, this devotional explores how direct encounters with the Divine—through sacred medicine, contemplation, nature, or revelation—can deepen rather than diminish Christian faith.

Each week includes the Gospel passage, a mystical interpretation, personal stories of awakening, reflection questions, spiritual practices, and journaling prompts to support grounded integration and real transformation.

Inside You’ll Find52 weekly entries following the liturgical calendar—from Advent through Christ the King27 voices from 15 traditions, including Episcopal, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, Quaker, Orthodox, UCC, contemplative, interspiritual, and Indigenous-informed perspectivesA mystical interpretation of each Gospel readingIntegration practices rooted in Christian spiritual formationReflection questions for personal insight or group discussionJournal prompts for weaving breakthrough experiences into daily lifeA gentle, grounded approach to psychedelic-informed spiritualityTheological wisdom that honors both Scripture and direct encounterPerfect ForChristians integrating psychedelic or mystical experiencesSeekers longing for the sacred beyond institutional religionClergy, chaplains, therapists, and spiritual directors supporting spiritual emergenceMembers of contemplative and mystical Christian communitiesDeconstructing Christians seeking authentic, embodied faithPsychedelic retreat participants wanting Christian meaning and integrationSmall groups and study circles exploring faith through experienceAnyone exploring where orthodox faith meets unorthodox experienceIf you refuse to choose between the depth of Christian spirituality and the truth of your lived experiences, this devotional is for you.

Why This Book Is UniqueWhile most devotionals interpret Scripture through tradition alone, Beyond Words expands the conversation through voices trained in mysticism, pastoral care, spiritual direction, Indigenous wisdom, and psychedelic chaplaincy. Contributors include clergy and religious professionals who participated in the landmark Johns Hopkins and NYU psilocybin studies, offering rare theological and experiential insight
