Numbers don’t lie or make empty promises. That’s one thing Fiona is sure about. It's why she kept her focus on the narrow path she had mapped out for herself...right until Bash crashes into her life, bringing a whole lot of chaos with him. He lures her out of her carefully crafted bubble, leaving her floundering in a world that no longer makes sense.
Bash is used to issuing orders and having them followed. As the VP of the Reaper’s Guard, he’s got enough on his plate without the trouble his annoying little sister keeps getting into. But when an owl-eyed girl swoops in to rescue her, Bash is taken aback by his reaction to her and the desire to draw her into his life— no matter that they’re from two different worlds.
Bash does things his way, and Fiona is used to taking care of everything herself. As they grow closer, the tension becomes impossible to deny.
When ghosts from the past start interfering in the present, Fiona has to decide if their relationship is worth fighting for, and if she can finally trust someone enough to let them in.
Fiona crafted a carefully secure life for herself where she keeps to herself as well as spends her time working as an accountant when she is not at home by herself. When her coworkers invite her out for a drink, Fiona has no idea her life is about to change. Saving a girl at the bar, has her gaining a new best friend and the protection of the Reapers Guard MC.
Bash is the VP Of the Reapers Guard as well as older brother to the girl Fiona rescued. For the first time in his life, Bash finds himself drawn to a woman for more than a couple of hours. Everything about Fiona fascinates him but he also realizes Fiona has a past that has left scars and Bash will do everything he can to keep Fiona protected and safely by his side, will it work?
Really enjoyed this one. Great beginning to this series (I hope). So many characters I am curious about particularly Scythe - wowza. Bash and Fiona were amazing, the whole story kept me captivated and couldn't stop reading.
This was so different than a lot of MC books than I have read and I love it for that! I just loved Fiona and Bash and I also loved Charlie and many of the other characters introduced in the book. I am looking for more books on the characters and can’t wait to read them.
I love a great alpha male that is not a cheater and is instead all about his woman. Bash is all that and more and I just love him. He may be one of my favorite H’s of all time! Fiona was a strong h too and was used to taking care of herself. I loved seeing her start to open up to Bash and his family and really come into her own. I also loved the love story of Bash and Fiona!
This is a book I have already read twice and I know I will end up reading it again, much like Just Desserts, also by Crystal Nichols. I love a great HEA and a love story that just makes me want to smile and this was that and more! I highly recommend this book for any lover of MC romance or of an alpha hero with a great HEA! Loved it!!!💜
Additional tropes: ✅Found family ✅Other woman drama
Detailed spoilers/trigger warnings (if any) and final thoughts can be found below.
Fiona is the FMC. One night at a club, she helps someone out. Little does she know this one act of kindness would change her life in drastic ways. She brings this woman home and contacts her family to let them know she is okay. The woman’s brother shows up to get her, and this is how Fiona meets Bash (Callum).
He is VP of a local motorcycle club, and very protective over his sister Charlie. When Charlie wants to reach out to Fiona to thank her for what she did, this begins their very close friendship, something Fiona never had. She grew up impoverished, enduring years of abuse until she was old enough to move away and work hard to establish a life for herself. This has left her an extreme realist with trust issues who calls it how she sees it. Fiona’s past is disclosed to Bash and Charlie, making them want to love and protect her, especially as her now being involved with them gets her hurt.
The more time spent with the FMC, the more Bash realizes she might be the one for him. He’s never had a serious relationship, but neither has she so this is territory they both tread lightly. Past hookups of the MMC along with some club drama, have the potential to hurt them before they can really get started. Fiona must also deal with the reappearance of a family member in her life. She has so much of past to sort through, but Bash is determined to show her what love and a real family looks like.

Final thoughts: I love this book so much. The writing is amazing. The character development is top tier. I love this FMC so much. She is probably one of my favorite female characters that I’ve ever read. She’s so complex and there’s just so much depth to her. She is feisty and insecure. She is brave and also fearful. She has deep rooted self-doubt, but knows her worth and doesn’t back down from anything. She says what she means and she means what she says. There’s just so much about her that I love.
This book is one of the best examples of found family. If you struggle with understanding exactly what that trope means, read this book and you will understand perfectly. Honestly there is just so much that is good about about this book and it is absolutely a must read.

I started reading this book on Wattpad and was so excited the author brought it to Amazon. I loved Fiona and Bash. I really enjoyed the characters and also the twists and turns. I can't wait to read more by this author.
I really enjoyed this book. My favourite aspect was the found family element. I loved that Fiona was embraced by Bash's sister and brought into the safety of his family.
There was suspense and sweetness and spice. I loved how smart Fiona was and how Bash stood apart from the usual MC hero.
This was my first book by Crystal Nichols but I can't wait to see what else The Reaper's Guard MC series produces.
Great book. I couldn't put it down. The storyline was fantastic, characters are awesome. Plenty of action and just enough spice. I hope there are more books in this series.
This one was good, but nothing really memorable about it honestly, just a nice but long book. Nothing really angsty, doesn’t have any huge gut punches … it was just nice. It was good, I would continue to read the series if it continues.
“…it felt like I was coming home. I was loved, had so much love to give, and had finally found people worthy of it all.”
Fiona and Callum“Bash”
Tropes: * MC Romance * Protective MMC * Morally grey MMC * Strong FMC * OW drama * Betrayal * Found family
This is my third (yes third!) time reading this book. That’s how much I love it! First in its WIP stages, chapter by chapter, then in its entirety on WP. And, as soon as I saw it was being published and was going up for ARC readers, I hit that apply button so fast it wasn’t funny.
I’ll try my best not to spoil, but if I want to talk about things that I enjoyed (everything), there might be some mild spoilers… but I’ll be as vague as possible….
The characters: - Fiona “Fee” / “Killer” (lol) She’s strong, she’s damaged, she’s smart, and she’s very sweet. She puts club girls in their places with no effort, she trash-talks a-z bikers, but she is carrying so much damage and heartbreak from her childhood that she struggles with relationships…
- Callum “Bash” Not your average biker. He got around, he worked hard, and he played hard. Until Fee. He’s a classic case of he fell first (and so, so, so much harder). Also, a closet cinnamon roll for Fee, but his MC brethren get a free show to his changing attitude! Absolutely loved him, except when he was being an a-z.
- Charlie The reason they all met. I adored her. Full of energy, she claims Fee, and the banter between her and Bash fighting over Fee was highly amusing. I would LOVE to see her in her own book.
- Match Fee’s ‘brother from another mother’. I loved his relationship with Fee, and their instant bond. Another one I’d love to see in their own book!
- On that note…. Jackson “Atlas”… I felt rage in the WIP. I felt more rage in the re-read. But this one…. oh my lord… I was raging so hard, I almost had to skip his sections!!! When I got to his POV (at about 84%), I was absolutely steaming! He was willing to help all the women who needed help… He ‘failed his sister…. Correction… HE ABANDONED HIS SISTER, WHO HE KNEW WAS LIVING WITH HORRIBLY ABUSIVE PARENTS!!! Absolutely irredeemable, unforgivable, and rage-inducing. While I actively loathe him, I do wonder if Ms Nichols would end up writing about him, because based on this, he might have an epic betrayal/grovel book in him.
My absolute favourite character (behind Fe and Bash)? Guard. His instant acceptance, his love, his attitude. It’s hard to describe, but he’s THE ultimate dad. Understanding, tough, fun, and so, so sweet!
“Fiona, my dear, you are my daughter in every sense of the term now. As soon as I met you, I knew there was a reason you came into our lives. You belong in our found family.”
A whole bunch of side characters that were so much fun to read about, and I hope that there is a follow-up novel/series where we can continue to revisit them!
The story: Engaging, original, yet not. Actually believable, which sometimes is a unicorn these days. The pacing was great, and the relationship building was spot on. It wasn’t just Fee and Bash, it was an entire family being formed for Fee and I adored it. Her history was heartbreaking, and boy did it make me rage. The OW drama was unhinged. It actually took up so little space in the story, but it was delicious, especially with how… not bright… some of them were. Yep, some… as in more than one…. ugh… club girls… The other issue… the story spent to so much time building towards it, that everything just flowed through and made sense. No random time jumps or plot devices just appearing out of nowhere. Some of the actual actions were a bit surprising, but that added to it, because you knew who was causing the problem (it was pretty obvious), but the what and why??? Well… the background was good.
It’s certainly a longer book. But don’t let that scare you away. Admittedly, this is normally a book that I would read in one sitting, if I could, but that requires sacrificing sleep. Because I had already read it a couple of times, I was able to savour it. So do yourself a favour, and grab it. Give it a read. Then come back to it again - guarantee you’ll enjoy it more the next time around.
This was very enjoyable read. A real romance not a lust filled sex fest pretending to be a romance like so many other MC authors do. There were three things that stood out for me. 1. That Bash's first thoughts of Fiona were not what she might look like on her knees with his 🐓 stuffed down her throat or how she'd look bent over while he pounded into her. He did not sexually objectify her. 2. They actually developed a relationship, an emotional connection before having sex. It's really difficult to find books where the main characters actually develop a relationship. Too many authors confuse lust with love. The characters jump into having sex right away and they are always having sex through out the story and the authors forget to develop a relationship. Then boom, after a week of f#cking they are "in love" 🙄. Lust does not equal love. 3. I don't know how many times I've read the plot device of the OW setting up a situation with the H to try and scare the h off. Without fail, all the h's run away crying. I get so pissed off. Don't tell me she's some strong woman and expect me to believe that when she's runs away boo hooing. This was the first time I've read where the h does not run from the room crying and gives the OW hell and at the same time using her brains to realize something was not right with her man. WAY TO GO FIONA AND MS. NICOLS!! The epilogue was so awesomely adorable too. I really like all the characters and look forward to reading more about them. There was major main character growth too. The writing was good enough that if there were editing errors, I never noticed them.

Written by a relatively new author, this was a very satisfying and enthralling story set in an MC world and what a thrilling start to the series! Fiona, Bash, Charlie, Match, Atlas, Guard, Cece and all the other characters in this tale made for some very interesting reading and I live in hope for more stories to be added to their MC journey.
Fiona has had a difficult start to her life and this has made her stronger, courageous but also confused about her worthiness to be given good things for her future. I love how Bash is the alpha VP of the Reaper’s Guard MC Club but isn’t cruel, a cheater or vicious in his outlook on life. He is all about family and caring for the club community and once he sets his sights on Fee, he is all in with loving her and doing what he can to make life better for her.
This tale tells of their meeting and the drama, trials and emotional baggage of their battles to overcome the trauma of their journey and to triumph in the pursuit of their happiness.
I’ve followed the author from her start in WP and she piqued my interest and excitement in her work. I can’t wait to see what she dives into next! I’ve enjoyed the respite these hours of reading has gifted me and I thank the author for giving me the opportunity to enjoy the arc and provide my voluntary review.
Fiona is used to fending for herself, being invisible, and helping others without expecting anything in return. That is how she finds her soon to be bestie, Charlie, totally out of it in a bathroom bar. She takes her home and takes care of her.
Bash, VP of the Reaper’s Guard, is used to giving orders, doesn't understand why Fiona doesn't react like most women when they meet him.
From their first meet, Bash can't seem to forget about Fiona and so he finds ways to spend time with her, their friendship grows slowly and eventually becomes the first relationship for both of them. They have growing pains as any couple would and it interesting to see how they work through them.
This story has:
💕Found family - Fiona gains much love from Bash's parents - Guard & CeCe 💕Honorary brother in Match and the rest of the MC brothers 💕Tentative reconciliation with her long-lost brother 💔Kidnapping and rescue
A lot of my favorite scenes take place at the clubhouse where Fiona is "tested" to see if she fits into the MC life -- she nails it completely. She politely insults some of the club girls, that verbally attack her first and unfortunately, they don't even know it - totally epic.
Highly recommend this book and hope that there is more to this series.
3 1/2 stars. How long it takes me to read a book often influences my rating. In the case of this book, I stopped half way through to read another book. The story became somewhat chopped up because of the disruption. The h had a terrible childhood with an alcoholic father and druggy prostitute mother. She and her brother helped each other through neglect and abuse that the community and support systems turned a blind eye to. She becomes a nerdy numbers person who catches the H's attention when she brings his sister, a very drunk stranger she met in a bar washroom, to her home to keep her safe. The h is kind but no doormat. She stands up to the smirking innuendos of OW and sees through attempts to manipulate. The H is a MC VP who becomes super protective when the h is attacked. The h fights back against the attacker and the MC provides guards and emotional support i.e., the family that the h craves. The story often repeats an event by providing the point of view of each of the two main characters. A few other characters also have their POV shared. Sometimes it doesn't feel like new information was provided in a second POV. The author seems to use a lot of detailed descriptions.
Fiona had a really bad childhood that she has worked hard to leave behind. Her carefully maintained world is thrown on it head when she helps Charlie after she finds her drunk in a bathroom at a bar. This one act of kindness brings Bash the VP of the Reaper’s Guard into her life. He is floored by his reaction to Fiona and for a while has no idea what to do with it.
He does his best to stay away but when Charlie and Fiona become best friends he is left with no choice but to get involved. Fiona doesn't trust easy and Bash is used to be listened to. When it becomes clear that somone is stealing from the club Fiona is further pulled into his world as she tries to trace the money.
Fiona struggles with herself worth and when Bash wants more she needs to decide if she is willing to give her all to the man she loves. My heart broke for Fiona and I screamed when she finally realised that she deserved to be loved by not only Bash but his family as well.
You get some OWD ( no cheating Bash is all in ), club drama and danger in this amazing read from the talented Crystal Nichols.
This story is about Fiona and Bash as main characters, but his sister Charlie as well as The Reaper's Guard MC plays a major role in the story. This is an MC story, but I would place it among the softer version of the MC world.
When we first meet Fiona she is at a bar and ends up rescuing a very drunk Charlie, having No way to get her home, she bringes her to her own appartment to keep her safe. Bash is a protectiv elder Brother and when he can't find his sister he tracks her down to Fionas appartment.
From there Fiona and Charlie start up a friendship and through some things that happen, Bash and Fiona end up sending time together as well and things develop from there.
I loved the story and the characters, every plot twist was belivable and I felt the author did a wonderfull job bringing the characters and the environment to life! Can't wait for more stories in this series!
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and I am happy to leave a 5 star review for it!
This books was great. Started out strong and maintained it for most of it. There were times it did get a bit too long. It’s told from both mmc and fmc pov and the author made sure it was run over perspective so you get insight into both sides on the situations, but at times it was too long and dragged the story too.
But overall it was a great start to the series. It introduced all the characters and sets up the storyline for next stories. And I am looking forward to the next in series.
The beauty of the story is Fiona’s journey of relationships and strong family bond that she starts to create and it really was enjoyable reading it.
This was a fun first installment in a new MC series by Crystal Nichols. Fiona is quiet accountant hiding fiery spirit. She unwittingly falls headfirst into the Reaper’s Guard’s sights when she rescues one of their own. Learning to live outside the painful parameters that fear and trauma have stymied her, Fiona blossoms from the support of her newfound family. Can’t wait to see what comes next for these protective bikers.
I love an MC romance, and this one did not disappoint! Bash and Fiona’s story had me hooked from the start. Their love felt real and genuine, and the trust they had in each other made their relationship even better to read about.
I also loved the OWD twist. It added some great tension without taking away from their relationship, and I thought it was handled really well. The chemistry was strong, the MC vibe was on point, and everything came together nicely.
If you enjoy MC romances with heart and a couple you can root for, I definitely recommend this one!
This book is fantastic! Fiona has such an inner strength that has gotten her through life's challenges. She makes a decision to help someone in need and that changes the course of her life, for the better. Bash is a perfect counterpart to Fiona. He takes some of her burdens and ultimately gives her a family. Highly recommend this author and this book.
I absolutely love this story for so many reasons. First there is Fiona whose eyes I enjoy seeing the world through. She is so unique in the way she thinks and responds to people while being so caring, fierce, honest (lacking a filter) and down to earth all at the same time. She is a joy to read and I’m so happy she has found herself a loving family and HEA.
Bash is also an exceptional H respecting Fee’s needs and wants once he allows himself to pursue her. His family and the rest of the MC crew all play major roles in the story and I can hardly wait to read more of their stories when they are written. This story has lots of love, action and danger mixed in to keep the plot exciting.
It's great when I finish an MC story and have a happy feeling about the world the author has created, and It is certainly true for this book.
