In Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason, Dr. Maya Sullivan fully intends to escape her past and finish planning a retreat for military veterans at the ranch she's inherited. Unfortunately, her plans go sideways when an avalanche traps her in a Colorado ski resort. An unexpected reunion with her high school crush forces her to confront past wounds, but she soon realizes someone is targeting her, and their search for a shadowy enemy becomes a matter of life and death.

Whiteout by Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey
4 Stars (3.5 Rounded Up)
Novella Collections
Blog Post: https://bookloveramanda.blogspot.com/...

I always enjoy a good Christian, romantic suspense read and these were some great novellas! Very much an on the edge of your seat read for both novellas in this collection.

If you are looking for a good quick winter read, check these out because both have snowed in, avalanches type of storylines, with high-stakes suspense.

The first one, Dani Pettrey's, follows Joel and Cassandra in a second chance romance. She left him at the alter years ago over this crazy situation with a stalker she had. Now, they are back around each other when they are both part of a destination wedding party. Everyone ends up being snowed in at an abandoned lodge with their friends after a tragic avalanche happens. But is her stalker lurking in every corner? Will she reveal the real reason she left so long ago?

I was really engaged in this one! Loved the characters and suspense. It was very intense though, with several murders taking place.

In the second one, Lynette Eason's, we follow Dr. Maya who is escaping her past and planning a retreat for veterans at the ranch she has inherited. She runs into her high school crush, Gideon, and soon realizes someone is targeting her. They work together to find the person who is after her. I liked this one but I think Dani's was my fav! I just connected with those characters more.

content warnings: mentioned of friends being murdered semi-detailed and disturbing POV of killer, would be triggering probably to someone who has been through a stalker situation so be aware of this content, no language, clean romance.

I recommend for anyone who likes Christian romantic suspense and wants something quick. Thank you to Revell for a complimentary copy for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Two novellas from two of my favourite authors. I was excited to read this even if it was featured characters caught in avalanches (that evil white stuff).

Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey features a wedding party that goes heli-skiing (are they crazy?), and get caught up in an avalanche. They find shelter at an old lodge, but the danger isn't over. One of the party members has been dealing with a stalker and thought they left the stalker back at their home, but it looks like they are much closer than thought. Could it be someone in the group and if so, who? A few deaths occur while they are to figure it out. There were quite a few characters so options were open and I was kept guessing.

Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason features Maya who has come to a lodge to get away and make plans for the retreat she wants to start. An avalanche traps her and after a few incidents it appears someone is trying to kill her and use the avalanche to their advantage. Who and why? I figured out the who pretty quickly, but not the why. There is a romance that blooms between two old friends and I was rooting for it the whole time.

Out of the two stories my favourite was Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey, mainly because it kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. But both were very enjoyable. (I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.)

These are two novellas by two of my all time favorite Christian suspense authors. Both author are auto buys for me as I also re listen to their books. These authors are consistent and always please me. I will say, personally I prefer full length books instead of novellas. Lovely faith content, not overpowering. The narration was good. Highly recommend.

I was blessed with an ALC. Thank you RBmedia and NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own and unbiased.

The pages of WHITEOUT are filled with twists and turns. Readers won’t be able to stop turning the pages like I was. There is danger and heart stopping situations that I had to know where the two novellas were going. The main characters in both stories, Buried in Shadows and Snowbound, are very strong women who try to stay one step ahead of the trouble that keeps showing up. Both stories take place at the same resort during an avalanche. Hang on tight readers! Both of these stories move very fast. My only complaint when I finished reading was that I wished they were full length stories and not novellas. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to all of these characters.

WHITEOUT is two suspenseful novellas that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final pages. I highly recommend WHITEOUT! The mystery, action, and romance were all equally suspenseful! Just remember to breathe as you are reading! I found myself holding my breath quite a bit! I have just started reading Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey and have loved everything I have read so far! They both have many books between them and I’m excited to get caught up on all that I have missed.

A pair of icy, high octane novellas await you in Whiteout!

Dani Pettrey’s novella is high octane danger and will have your heart racing by the end of the story.

A second chance romance with an avalanche and a stalker. What could go wrong? Everything!

Will Cassandra and Joel escape the danger or will this be the end for both? You’ll have to read it to know the answer!

Lynette Eason’s contribution is expertly written and packs a punch. You might want to bundle up because the chill factor radiates off the pages.

It’s a forced proximity, second chance romance buried beneath the drama of an avalanche. Will Maya and Gideon find the person who wants her dead? Will they both make it out alive?

You’ll just have to read it to find out!

I received an advance copy from the publisher. I’m under no obligation and my review has not been solicited. Very recommended!

A novella from two of my favorite romantic suspense authors? That makes this an almost automatic love read. The stories were intense and full of page-turning action. They were also locked door suspense because of the avalanche. Add in some romace, and I loved each page. The two stories were loosely connected because they take place on the same mountain, at the same time, but on different sides -- a fun read.

White Out is a Novella collection by Lynette Eason and Danny Petrie, there’s lots of similar things in each book but both has its own flavor they both have avalanches they both have hunky love interest and they both have danger and although they come from different places I must say I enjoyed both of them. If I was forced to pick a favor it would probably be the one with cop Joe becausel OMG who doesn’t like a cop I am new to cozy mysteries and I’m really not wowed by the endings but I must say the first story of course with cop Joel was a good one and when she was stuck under the snow I started feeling claustrophobic even though we don’t get to see her point of view during it. These are two great books they’re on the longer side of Novelas and they’re both really good with great narration.#NetGalley, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview,

Snowed in together? Check.
Constantly in danger? Check.
Jaw-dropping twists? Check.
Organic faith threads? Check.
Swoony second chance romance? Check.
Two of my fave authors? Check and check.

If Dani Pettrey or Lynette Eason write it, I will read it. So when they’re BOTH at the helm of this romantic suspense novella collection, it’s an absolute no-brainer that I needed to get Whiteout in my greedy little hands as quickly as possible. These two novellas are set at neighboring resorts on the same Colorado mountain, each one spotlighting a different group of people trapped by the same avalanche with lives at risk. But in both cases, the brutal elements are not the worst enemy they have to overcome. Because each heroine has a target on her back… and each hero may get caught in the crossfire.

Pettrey kicks off the collection with “Buried in Shadows”, a story tied to her Jeopardy Falls world and one that kept me on the absolute edge of my seat. Pretty sure there were a couple of times I quit breathing too. Along with the constant danger the protagonists find themselves in, there’s also a lot of emotionally-charged romantic tension that heightens the stakes even further. See, Cassie is in Colorado for her best friend’s wedding but it’s also the first time she’s seen her ex (the hunky Sheriff Joel Brunswick) in a year. He still doesn’t know why she left him at the altar, and if she wants him to stay alive she can’t tell him. (So right from the prologue, I’m on high alert, y’all.) Between an avalanche throwing their ski excursion into chaos and a disturbed stalker wreaking havoc on their survival, Cassie & Joel and the rest of the wedding party – all friends & family of the bride and groom – must fight to stay alive. This novella is Dani Pettrey at her best! The creep factor (stuck in an abandoned lodge in a blizzard with a murderer lurking somewhere nearby), the heart-pounding suspense (see previous parentheses), the pulse-racing romance (I loved Cassie & Joel together!) … all of it had me glued to the pages right up until the final word.

Eason closes out Whiteout with “Snowbound Secrets”, another high-stakes story which also kicks off her brand new Soldiers in Shadows series. I really enjoyed meeting Maya and Gideon and learning their shared backstory as well as the separate circumstances that brought them each to the resort. Like Pettrey’s characters, Maya and Gideon and the rest of the people at the Silver Pines are stranded without access to cell phone signals, Wi-Fi, or medical care. Unlike the wedding party however, Maya and Gideon are relatively safe from the elements themselves and can enjoy the amenities of the resort. This gave my shoulders some time to settle back down from the tense hunch they developed in the previous novella, but it wasn’t too long before they were creeping back up toward my ears as the danger to Maya increases. Gunshots, accidents, and secrets – oh my – kept me on my toes, trying to stay ahead of the investigation and figure out who was after Maya before the characters did. And I thought I was connecting the dots really well….yet I still managed to be completely caught off guard by a plot twist in the end. Such a great novella that has me eager to read Twilight Tactics when it releases in August (argh! Such a long wait!).

Bottom Line: Whiteout brings together two fantastic romantic suspense authors, one avalanche, and a whole lot of nail-biting tension! There were moments in each novella where I could barely breathe – whether it was because I felt the characters’ snow-packed claustrophobia or their sense of being watched or because I was swooning over the sweet chemistry between first Cassie & Joel and then Maya & Gideon. Dani Pettrey and Lynette Eason each bring their signature strengths to these novellas, delivering well-developed characters with immersive plots despite the shorter page count and proving that these two authors don’t need a full-length novel to keep us deeply invested. Whiteout is intensely entertaining, gently faith-filled, and impossible to put down, and if you like your romance reads snowy, suspenseful, and swoon-worthy, then this is the book for you!

Eason & Pettrey deliver power punched novellas that take danger, suspense, and drama to the next level. Whiteout opens with Dani Pettrey’s Buried in the Shadows that captures you within minutes with the intense danger on the opening pages. It is a thriller that keeps you guessing who is behind the danger with all the different twists and characters as well as having you looking over your shoulder to check the shadows. This story had my heart pounding and my full attention.

With my mind reeling, I jumped into Lynette Eason’s Snowbound Secrets. This story matches Pettrey in intense danger and suspense just located on the other side of the avalanche at the lodge. Dr. Maya Sullivan finds herself in the middle of the danger while she helps victims of the avalanche and inadvertently discovers her childhood friends are also at the lodge. Danger lurks at every turn making you guess when the danger is coming and why. It captures your heart with bringing to light challenges many veterans face while also entertaining you as you try to figure out the puzzle of never ending danger.

These two novellas combine to make a phenomenal read! Each one explores the danger separate friend groups are experiencing on opposite sides of the avalanche. Once you start, it is difficult to put down and stays with you after the last page is turned with the excellent characters and storylines in each book. It is a must read!

A 2 novella collection of romantic suspense from some the two of my favorites! 2 different stories from 2 different sides of the same mountain, what a fun idea!

First novella is Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey, follows Cassie and Joel who were childhood friends turned engaged couple turned strangers. Forced together again during a mutual relations' wedding, someone from Cassie's past comes back into the picture and throws her and Joel right back together.

The second novella is Snowboard Secrets by Lynette Eason, follows Maya and Gideon who are childhood friends who lost touch after both entered into the army one as a surgeon and the other in Spec Ops. They meet up again at a resort they used to visit as children to take time and think about their futures. An Avalanche causes them to get stuck on the mountain, and suddenly Maya is fearing for her life as events that could be accidental and not related keep piling up and she thinks someone might be out to get her. Good thing an ex Spec Ops and old friend is nearby to help protect her.

I really enjoyed the narrator, she did an awesome job! A quick, fun, and certainly suspenseful read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

Both stories are solid "locked room" whodunit mysteries. I didn't realize it was Christian fiction until the second story, it definitely was more obvious than in story 1. Even if you aren't someone who typically reads "Christian fiction" ( I personally am not), I didn't find it to be super heavy on religious ideology so I don't think it would take away from the story for most. Likewise if you go in hoping for Christ to be a focal point in these stories, religion is present but as sort of a second thought and not overly apparent in the stories.

Of the two stories I enjoyed the first story more, I liked the stalker storyline and the second chance romance.

There’s simply nothing better than a collection from my two favorite romantic suspense authors!

Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey kept me on the edge of my seat from page one! I loved Cassie and Joel immediately and was totally rooting for their second chance romance! I absolutely adored this story! The avalanche survival aspect and the Agatha Christie-esque locked room type mystery were both absolutely PHENOMENAL! I completely loved every single second of this story! Can’t wait to read Three Steps Behind, book three in the Jeopardy Falls series when it releases in August!

Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason was a fabulous suspense novella! I loved Maya and Gideon, and I totally felt like I was snowed in with them at the Colorado lodge! As with all of this author’s books I was on the edge of my seat for the entire story. So many crazy things happen in this story, and it was all brilliantly done! Absolutely loved every second of it! I can’t wait to read Twilight Tactics, book one in Lynette’s new series when it releases in August (The release date just so happens to be the day after my birthday, so happy birthday to me!)

I most highly recommend Whiteout!

Wow. What an incredible read. Whiteout is 2 romantic suspense novellas in 1. Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey follows Cassie, who has a stalker. What she didn't tell her Joel, ex-fiancé, was that her stalker had threatened his life. Now they are together for Joel's sister's 4-day wedding party at a resort, but Cassie's stalker has followed her there. Buried in the Shadows has an avalanche, the wedding group seeking shelter from the wintry elements and wolves, a stalker, and murders. Who is Cassie's stalker, and can she and Joel have a second chance at love? This story kept me guessing and had a couple of surprises.
Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason is fast-paced and centers on Maya who is being targeted by someone. This story has plenty of action and danger. I did suspect who was behind it but didn't suspect their true motive. Eason added twists and turns in Snowbound Secrets.

Whiteout by two really great authors. Dani Pettrey & Lynette Eason. The 1st book in this is Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey, I’ve only ever read one book by Dani and have to say man, I’ve been missing out. Even though these were shorter books I read this in one sitting because I just had to find out who the bad guy(s) were?! I had an idea who I thought it could be surprised and for what reasons.

Next book was Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason. Which I read this book in one sitting too! Anything by Lynette Eason I always read in one sitting. She captures right in. I love how each story had their own mystery and intrigue but based out of the same Colorado mountains with an avalanche. It made me think was these two stories just connected but with different characters in each book.

I received this book from the publisher and was not required to leave a review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to Bethany House Publishers for the e-ARC and physical copy of Whiteout by Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey. All opinions are my own.

Whiteout is made up of two novellas set in the same snowed in Colorado ski resort. While they follow different characters, events from the first novella are briefly mentioned in the second novella. I think you could easily read them in any order though.

Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey is the first novella and follows a group of friends on a skiing trip before a wedding. Unfortunately, things start to go south for them when an avalanche hits and traps them in an abandoned lodge.

I enjoyed this first story, but it leaned more to the thriller side than suspense. I found it just a bit too creepy at times, so it wasn’t my favorite type of story. This was my first time reading this author’s writing, so I’m not sure if this is typical of her stories or not.

I liked not knowing who could be trusted, and I wasn’t able to guess the outcome. I wish there had been more to the romance because it didn’t feel like much happened to get the characters back together.

The second novella, Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason was more my style of romantic suspense.

This story followed a different group of people trapped in another lodge after the avalanche.

I enjoyed the tone of this book more because it felt more suspenseful and less creepy. I have found this to be true of all the books I’ve read by this author’s so far, and I’m definitely interested in more books with these characters.

The romance in this second novella was much more enjoyable. It was sweet, and I felt like there was more build-up to it.

Overall, I would recommend this book because it contains two quick and easy to read stories with danger, romance, and a snowy Colorado setting.

What could be creepier than being stuck on a mountain during an avalanche with a killer on the loose?

Whiteout brings you two stories connected by a dangerous avalanche. In Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey, a ski party goes awry when everyone is trapped. Cassandra Parker is now stuck with her ex that she left at the altar...but a the killer is trapped with them. Which means the killer is someone they all know.

In Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason, Maya Sullivan faces her past when her high school crush steps up to protect her from a killer.

I love stories where characters are trapped. Nowhere to go, but the danger runs high. Fast-paced and intense, both of these stories had me on the edge of my seat. I received a review copy of the audiobook, and the narrator did a good job of matching the intensity of the story. I recommend the audio book for total immersion!

Whiteout delivers a double dose of romantic suspense with two gripping novellas that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Set against a backdrop of treacherous ice and snow, the atmosphere is chilling—not just because of the sub-zero temperatures, but because of the unsettling danger lurking in the drifts. After a massive avalanche traps the characters, they soon realize nature isn't their only enemy; an unknown stalker is closing in.

Though both stories take place at the same ski resort, they unfold on opposite sides of the mountain. Tension skyrockets as "accidents" turn into disappearances, creating a sense of anxiety, making you turn pages quickly, and losing track of time because you're so engrossed in the story. I loved both couples, especially the brave, handsome men standing guard through the chaos.

In Dani Pettrey’s Buried in Shadows, childhood friends Cassie and Joel are reunited under the weight of a broken engagement. Having fled her home to escape a stalker, Cassie finds herself hunted once again. This story carries such an eerie vibe that I’d recommend not reading it at midnight! {Like I did!}
Meanwhile, Snowboard Secrets by Lynette Eason follows Maya and Gideon. Despite years apart, their chemistry is undeniable as Gideon steps up to protect her. Whiteout is a heart-stopping collection full of twists, turns, and high-stakes tension—a must-read for any romantic suspense fan.

Fasten your seatbelt and tighten up your shoulder harness! These novellas by two of the genre's top authors will keep you second-guessing your suspicions until the very end . . .

Buried in Shadows written by Author Dani Pettrey:

I have enjoyed reading several of this author's books in the past few years, and I am never disappointed by her unique characters and settings. She has an uncanny way of weaving tension, danger, romance, and faith together to create memorable stories for her readers.

The setting for this story is a destination wedding at a ski lodge in Silver Pines, Colorado. Cassie Parker was pursued by a violent stalker for a year before he ceased contacting her. It's been a year of no contact, but she has not been able to let go of the stress and strain the stalker has forced upon her.

Sheriff Joel Brunswick, Cassie's former fiancé and brother of the bride, is also a member of the wedding party. He was devastated by Cassie's abandonment at the altar and still loves her deeply.

The wedding party includes seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen who are enjoying a variety of adventure snow activities when a massive avalanche strands the large group at the resort. The group is able to get past the avalanche to find shelter in an abandoned ski lodge with no electricity and no water. What it does provide is the perfect setting for a romantic suspense novel filled with close calls, gripping tension, red herrings, and some excellent law enforcement skills which benefit the entire group.

This story is completely clean in language and content. The faith thread is strong and well-written.

******************

Snowbound Secrets written by Author Lynette Eason:

I have read a few of this author's previous novels, and I appreciate the way she introduces diverse characters into her stories. I come from a family with a long military history which makes me a fan of military fiction.

This story, set at the Silver Pines Resort in Colorado, includes diverse characters along with several military veterans who are dealing with their own horrible memories from their time spent in combat.

Dr. Maya Sullivan has every intention of overcoming her combat nightmares, but has not found the right combination of things that will make her goal a reality.

During the trip, Maya and fellow veterans from her childhood, Gideon and Vance, are trapped after a severe avalanche closes the entrance to resort. There is no internet service or phone service, so everyone is closed off from the rest of the world.

As the plot deepens, sinister activities begin to occur and Maya and Gideon realize someone is trying to kill Maya. The question is why? The pair works together to solve the mystery at the same time they are struggling to stay alive.

Fans of this genre will enjoy the romance lingering beneath the surface along with the strong faith thread woven throughout the story. The story is completely clean in language and content.

"Wind howled, the only sound surrounding their party in the burgeoning whiteout. “Let the group know where we’re headed and to pull in ranks. Losing someone’s far too easy in these conditions.”
The mountains were supposed to provide the perfect getaway for the bridal party. But when unexpected complications arise, survival is key. Especially when one of the members is not who he/she seems. Will the truth be discovered? Will a rescue come in time?

"The lodge was still standing, but the entrance into the resort was completely packed with ice and snow. The entrance that was also the exit. One way in and one way out. Neither was an option at the moment."

Maya is supposed to be vacationing. But when trouble starts at the resort where she is staying, as a medical professional, she knows she needs to help. Keeping those alive with medical conditions is hard enough. But when she suddenly seems to be in danger, the stakes are more complicated. Can she figure out who to trust?

These two novellas by Dani Pettrey and Lynette Eason are SO good! Perfect winter reads! Actually, these are great books any time of year! Unless of course, you are staying alone in a remote cabin during a blizzard. If that is the case, you may want to wait until you return safely home to read it.

A BIG thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read an advanced copy of this book. I wanted to read and review it. All opinions are my own.

an avalanche strands these characters, but that's not the danger they most need to worry about...

in "buried in shadows," cassie and joel see each other for the first time since she left him at the altar a year ago—only to be stranded in an abandoned lodge with the very stalker that kept them apart. threatening notes, untold secrets, hidden passageways, and murder... the increasing danger feels quite present throughout the novella, and though the cast of characters had me a little confused at times, i enjoyed being along for the ride. of course, the simultaneous hope for a second-chance romance offers a little light amidst the darkness.

in "snowbound secrets," maya's using her expertise to help around the snowbound ski resort, and hints start to indicate that something more ominous is afoot. danger builds more gradually in this novella (compared to the previous one), but in the meantime, maya reconnects with gideon, her childhood friend and crush. of course, when it all goes wrong, it really goes wrong... there's plenty of action and suspense to make this an enjoyable read, too.

all together, it's a solid collection of romantic-suspense novellas. fast-paced and action-packed, but with more uplifting threads of romance and faith... it sure won't disappoint fans of the genre.

(i received a complimentary copy from the author and/or publisher. i was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions i have expressed are my own.)

considerations:
—language: none
—spice: kisses only
—faith: consistent christian themes and mentions
—content: avalanche, murder, violence, stalking

Review of advance copy received from Netgalley

This is a book that consists of two romantic suspense novellas. In my excitement over finding trapped in stories involving snow, my favorite trope, I missed the part of it being Christian as well. But, to be honest it felt like the Christian part was an after thought. So if you're grabbing this for that reason, you might be disappointed. The suspense aspect of the books was great and pretty much my entire rating is in regards to that. The romantic part seemed off. Maybe it was just rushed due to it being a novella, but regardless it just seemed immature. Almost like it was written by someone who had never had an mature, adult, relationship before. Someone who thought they knew what was love was. So unfortunately that aspect was a miss for me. But I was very intrigued by the storyline in both novellas and enjoyed the fast paced action.

Whiteout was an amazing book! Two stories in one. And each of them so very exciting.
Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey, Cassie Parker arrives at her best friend's wedding, hoping & praying her stalker hasn't tracked her back to Colorado. Her ex-fiancé, Sheriff Joel Brunswick, the man she’d left at the altar to protect him from threats to his life by the stalker is also. When an avalanche strands them all in an abandoned lodge, it becomes clear that Cassie's stalker has followed her and doesn’t care who he kills to make her only his.
This story was a real page-turner and the stalker’s identity at the end blew me away!
In Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason, Dr. Maya Sullivan is trying to escape her past and finish planning a retreat for veterans of the military at the ranch she's inherited from her Grandpa. But her plans go wrong when an avalanche traps her in a Colorado ski resort. When she is attacked by someone in a mask, she’s rescued by her high school crush, Gideon Price, but they soon realize someone is targeting her, and also Gideon it’s a matter of life or death as they try to figure out who is after them.
The end of this story was a total shocker. And this book was so exciting and a real page turner for me.

An avalanche isn't the only danger out there....

Dani Pettrey is one of my all-time favorite Christian romantic suspense authors and I've also enjoyed quite a few of Lynette Eason's as well. Thus, when I found out the two had teamed up with a pair of novellas, the book shot immediately onto my must-read list.

Whiteout was great! Two manageably sized romantic suspense stories, complete and independent of each other, set against the backdrop of an avalanche at a cold Colorado ski resort. Both stories are delightfully chilling, yes, pun fully intended, and will keep you on the edge of your ski lift chair seat. Dani Pettrey & Lynette Eason really keep you guessing with more twists and turns than a good ski course. While I did figure out some parts, others came as a complete surprise, which I enjoyed.

I really appreciated that both Buried In Shadows and Snowbound Secrets are standalone stories. They may or may not have ties to other books written by Dani Pettrey & Lynette Eason, but I didn't feel like I had missed anything, and I was able to fully immerse myself in the cold snow of the stories.

Whether you love romantic suspense in general or these authors in particular, Whiteout from Dani Pettrey & Lynette Eason is a really good book. The novella size of each story makes them individually readable in a sitting or two, and together, the stories that make up Whiteout are quite enjoyable....

(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)

Two wonderful winter novellas by two of my favorite Christian romantic suspense authors? Yes, please.
Both of these stories had me gripped from the start, largely due to an avalanche (a new fear I now have!) trapping everyone at a Colorado ski resort.

In Dani Pettrey’s "Buried in Shadows”, Cassandra Parker is at the resort to celebrate her best friend's destination wedding, along with a group of other friends and work acquaintances—including her ex-fiance, Sheriff Joel Brunswick. She has been plagued by a stalker for the past year and hopes this will be an opportunity to finally relax and put the unnerving business behind her. When the wedding party embarks upon a fun ski-ing expedition, the avalanche traps them all and they are forced to take refuge in an abandoned lodge—where they are definitely not safe!

In "Snowbound Secrets" by Lynette Eason, the same avalanche means Dr. Maya Sullivan is also trapped on the other side of the resort, where her medical skills are put to use and she also runs into her old high school crush, Gideon. Rather than focusing on making plans for her retreat for military veterans, she soon realizes she is being targeted—and now both their lives are in danger.

These novellas are fast, page-turning reads with a chilling, snowy setting and delightful, slow-burn romances.

I received a complimentary copy from Baker Publishing Group through Interviews & Reviews in exchange for my honest opinion.

What an amazing couple of books. Both wrapped around the same avalanche, but views from two different sides of the mountain.
In Dani Pettrey's portion, a group of friends get trapped, but seem to still have a stalker following them. Who could it be?
In Lynette Eason's part, old army buddies find each other again while trapped by the avalanche at a mountain resort. But--is it a happy reunion? Only time will tell.....

A quick, satisfying mystery/thriller and romance double novella. The mysteries were all thought out and good. The romances were well done. Has a christian foundation which is a plus.

Thank you to NetGalley and RBMedia for an advanced ARC of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

In true Dani Pettrey fashion, she threw her characters straight into peril. Haha! It’s a strategy guaranteed to draw me in though and then I have to keep reading until I reach the end. This was no exception to that. I’ve read the series this one is connected to and it was great getting a bit of Joel’s story!

Lynette Eason writes some of the best novellas. I haven’t read the series this one is connected to (yet!) and I had no trouble following along. I never feel gypped with her novellas, the story is always well-rounded and complete on its own. I really enjoyed these characters and their history. I’m curious to see how they connect to her series (I’m assuming they do).
