The Twilight Court #19

The Garden of Regret

Rate this book
A forgotten garden is waking. A kingdom is being swallowed by blight. And the Queen of Seelie must decide how much of her own heart she’s willing to sacrifice to save her people.

After months of battling the forbidden dreams tying her to the King of Hell, Seren Sloane has more than enough emotional turmoil to contend with—but her personal guilt becomes the least of her worries when villages across Seelie are found coated in a creeping, oily black infection.

The blight seeps up from the ground, winding through roots, forests, and fields before covering the Fey themselves in slick darkness. Plants wither, magic falters, and entire communities are left frozen where they stood, encased in a living shadow that spreads faster each day.

The source?
The Garden of Regret—an ancient creation made to strengthen the royals of Fairy, now starving after centuries of neglect.

What was once a sacred place meant to balance the royals is now consuming Fairy.

As Seren, King Tiernan, and their regiment track the blight’s path from village to village, they uncover long-buried truths about Danu, the cost of emotional magic, and the purpose the Garden once served. But whatever force has reawakened it is demanding the pain, grief, and regret of the Fey.

If Seren refuses, the Garden will take what it needs by force—draining their people of every emotion that makes them whole.

Worse, Astaroth’s lingering presence in Seren’s dreams is straining her marriage at the very moment she needs her husbands united. Love, loyalty, and old wounds collide as the blight forces every Fey to confront the emotions they’ve spent lifetimes avoiding.

To save her kingdom, Seren must enter the heart of the Garden itself and face the one thing she fears more than any

Her own regret.

Epic, emotional, and steeped in Fey lore, The Garden of Regret delivers high-stakes fantasy, deep court intrigue, powerful magic, and a heroine whose heart is both her greatest strength and her greatest danger.

Perfect for fans of romantic fantasy, court politics, soulmate bonds, reverse harem dynamics, and lush Fey mythology.

When she isn't trying to type fast enough to get down everything the voices in her head are saying while her kitties try to sabotage her with cuteness, she enjoys painting on canvases, walls, and anything else that will sit still long enough for the paint to dry. She prefers antiques to modern furniture, tea to coffee, night to day, and Tom Hardy to Tom Hiddleston. No; Tom Hiddleston to Tom Hardy. No, wait... Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston to Tom Cruise. Yes, that's it.

2 let’s stop dragging this Astarf situation on stars.

Possible spoilers below…
There was a lot to unpack in this book. I found the scenario with Rowan & the adult elf admirer as disturbing as I found the wolf having a predestined mate that was a baby in twilight. Incredibly disturbing & words like grooming come to mind.
I’m also annoyed with the entire Astarf situation. I feel like it’s manufactured angst & I found her trying to prove her loyalty by going to hell and dealing with hell’s prophecy on her own an obvious set up for unnecessary drama. I am ready for it to end. I like Star, always have & find Sever to be the more logical choice for the “line in the sand” if one was going to be made. It wasn’t, he was welcomed & moved right into the twilight castle. The author’s attempt at providing a reason for Star’s treatment came across as hogwash.

So Very Very Good !

Ah, reading books from one of your favourite authors is like coming home. All of the feels right there.

Seren Firethorn , Princess of Twilight, Queen of both Seelie and UnSeelie, The World Strider has a bit of a problem. Laden with guilt because of her feelings for Astaroth compounded by eight months worth of raunchy shared dreams with him and more guilt for actually having those hot and heavy dreams. Things can’t continue as they have been because both of them are suffering.

Before she can fess up to her most recent conversation with Star (Astaroth) a hurried call from Falcas (her son with Tiernan) to tell her that Tiernan needs her. There’s trouble in the Seelie Kingdom.

A brilliant read, it feels like I’ve been waiting ages for part of the mythos associated with faeries to turn up in these books, now they’re finally here! As usual I binged my way through this book in less than a day. Awesomesauce.

love is a battlefield and a war with no winner

The Great Garden was magnificent. I mean Seren has so much going on and no one seems to notice that. She feels so much and the guys are so hard on her and don’t they realize the guilt and heartache she constantly feels. The Garden just wanted to eat it up and take her apart. I’m glad it’s this adventure they could finally help with the realization of what is going on.
