The Dungeon Inn: A Cozy Dungeon Core LitRPG Fantasy

Rate this book
Tesni Anderson's biggest problem used to be microwaved fish in the office break room. Then she choked on ramen noodles and woke up as a dungeon core.

The system expects her to create a murder maze filled with traps and monsters. Instead, Tesni has three months to build something a dungeon that doesn't kill people. With the help of her gruff Scottish advisor Threk (who thinks she's completely mad) and a growing family of goblins who just want to belong somewhere, she's determined to create the world's first dungeon inn.

Between essence management that works like a mobile game, aggressive rock-hens that can't judge distances, and the moral compromise of designing "safe" dangerous areas, Tesni discovers that building something nurturing in a world designed for conflict is harder than any office job she's ever had.

But when the first adventurers finally arrive, will her revolutionary hospitality model work—or will she lose everything she's built?

A cozy slice-of-life fantasy about found family, ethical business practices, and proving that sometimes the best way to win is to change the game entirely.

this is so freaking amazing.

From start to finish it was a totally different experience from most Dungeon stories I have read. It’s super sweet. The goblins are all so freaking adorable. And the building of the dungeon and the Inn are so cool. I love the adventures finding the inn. The learning of who their clients are and how they are willing to grow.. ugghhh. I can’t wait to read the next book.

I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did. It starts off like a typical dungeon-core setup, but the main character immediately decides she wants absolutely nothing to do with the usual “kill adventurers” thing and instead tries to build… an inn. Underground. With goblins as her staff.

It sounds ridiculous, but it’s genuinely adorable. The goblins have personalities, the advisor is grumpy in the best way, and the whole vibe is more “found family” than “boss fight.” The worldbuilding is easy to follow, and the tone stays warm and funny throughout.

If you like low-stress fantasy with wholesome characters and a twist on the dungeon-core formula, this one’s worth picking up. I’m definitely grabbing the next book when it comes out.

Great Read

This a great slice of life read that I truly enjoyed. It was well written with only a few editing mistakes that didn't take away or distract from the story. I loved the progression and how she gained and spent essence. The goblins were a joy to read about but I hope that they all get specializations because they deserve them. And I'm definitely reading the next book .
