Cyrus Cooper Thriller #3

Rogue Faction Part 2

Rate this book
Doctor Voss has a secret; a technological device that will literally change the course of medicine. But what promises to be an effective new treatment that will save lives, may also become the ultimate tool for espionage.

The protected compound where Voss works and his family lives, is now under siege from forces that will stop at nothing to claim this prize for themselves. Cyrus Cooper, a member and Agent of the Coalition, was ordered to infiltrate the ultra secure tower of steel and glass, but with each new secret uncovered, he begins to question the validity of his assignment. Is the Coalition trying to keep this new technology out of the hands of dangerous adversaries, or do they really want to claim it as their own? Would he have been given the assignment if the Coalition had known about his history with Natasha, Voss’s oldest daughter? Or, was he assigned to the case predicated on a past he has tried desperately to hide?

Allegiances will be tested and deceptions exposed before the dust settles. And in the end…who will be the last man standing when the bullets stop flying?

The latest chapter in the Cyrus Cooper Thriller series concludes with, “Rogue Part 2.”

After a career spent in the realm of computer programming, much of Xander Weaver's early work focused on the development of custom online shopping systems. An accomplished web developer with more than fifteen years of experience, his childhood dream remained the same: to become an author and take readers on thrilling adventures. That dream was realized when he introduced the action/suspense character of Cyrus Cooper to the world. His love and passion for technology are often found at the heart of his books, because, as he professes, "I write the kind of stories that I love to read."

Xander now lives in Northern Illinois with his wife and overindulged turtle. Having come full circle, their home is just a few short miles away from where Xander grew up--the home where his imagination began to shine.

Just Wow! These stories get better and better. Fast, easy to read and understand. Cyrus has to be one of my favorite characters in a book. And I'm so glad to see a couple of them got their just desserts in this one. They so needed it. The way the books are written makes understanding the tech easy to get. Way beyond anything I would know in real life. Can hardly wait for the next one. All of the books so far have been 5 star reads for me. You'll have to judge for yourself if you read them. Will be well worth your time.

The second Rogue Faction novel picks up immediately after part one. A smooth roller coaster ride of action and intrigue, I was engrossed until the end, an emotionally charged slap to the face ending that was very satisfying. I do hope we hear more from Cyrus Cooper!

This is a review for the whole of Rogue Faction (Parts one and two).

Anyone who follows my reviews knows that I read a LOT of books. That may or may not qualify me as a judge of a good book versus a bad book. In this day and age of independent publishing, I have to say that there is a lot of crap out there. A lot of people think they can write well, when the truth is that they can't. Many unknown and self-published authors write books that just don't read well. The story may be good but the writing is disjointed and you often have to re-read passages to understand what the author is saying. And sadly, this appears to be the norm. You might wonder where I'm going with this...

I use that opening as the opportunity to highlight the fact that Xander Weaver does NOT fall into that category. He writes like a best-selling author who has great skill, and (I assume) an amazing team behind him to look for typos, correct grammar, etc. Reading a book written by him is nothing short of an extremely pleasant experience... even when the subject matter is not pleasant in itself.

In Rogue Faction, Mr Weaver has written a fast-paced, exciting thriller that has an intricately woven plot, and which will keep you guessing up to the last few chapters. The medical technology is extremely well-researched, as is every aspect of this novel (both parts), and I feel quite safe in saying that Rogue Faction is a five star read. You won't be disappointed.

I just finished Rogue part 2. I loved it, in fact I loved it a lot more than part 1. I think it has more action and more emotions than the first part. Understandingly so, it is the start and the end of a book. I was really taken aback by the progression toward violence by Cyrus, his character has changed a lot during the course of this mission. I am very curious as to where this character is going next. Cyrus Cooper is a character well worth following.

Rogue Faction Part 2 continues Cyrus Cooper's mission with more unexpected twists. Whilst he tries to protect Natasha and her family, he gets some surprising answers to his past and it leaves me wondering how this will affect him in the future.

Another great story with lots of action but it's the inventive mind of Xander Weaver which keeps me totally absorbed.

If you love strong characters and a book that you will be unable to put down, then this is made for you. Great dialogue makes this book flow nicely. And unlike some writers who just rely on the main character (which sometimes Cussler does with Dirk Pitt) everyone in this book is well rounded and important to the story.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Cyrus finds himself on the outs with his employers as he tries to protect his targets. As Cyrus learns about his past and the lies told to him, he has a plan to turn the tables on the Red Queen. It doesn't quite work as he planned. This book had more serious moments then the previous two, but the suspense continued until all the secrets were answered. Looking forward to more of Cyrus adventures.

Holy Moly! What a wild ride this book was, I thought part 1 was good but part 2 knocks it out of the park. The writing is excellent, I don't know how Xander Weaver comes up with these things but he sure knows how to grab the readers attention. I had great difficulty putting the book down, the twists shocked me and that doesn't happen often, which just goes to show how good Weaver is. I had moments of laughing out loud, gasping and crying. It was so good. The ending was a little intense but fits the story perfectly. Do yourself a favour and pick up this series of books.

The conclusion of Rogue Faction does not disappoint! Once again, Weaver has kept me from putting a book down. The twists keep coming, and the characters continue to develop. I really felt the chemistry between all of them (good & bad), just as I had in the previous books. This is definitely one of the best conclusions I have read. I can not wait to read his next book! Keep them coming, Xander!

What a great book. Fast paced and full of characters that you really like, or like to hate in the case of the bad guys. This was very well written and I look forward to seeing what is in store for Cyrus Cooper.
