This volume is a tale of two parents.
In a standalone chapter, Rei returns to the house of shogi that raised him and meets with his stepmother. This is told from the point of view of the stepmother and it gave a lot of insight into the conflict of the shogi household that eventually drove Rei to live on his own.

The second half of this volume has the Kawamoto sisters' father unexpectedly return. He emits intense scumbag vibes. He finds Rei to be a formidable opponent in forcing his way back into his daughters' lives.

This is a great volume. This may sound repetitive but it's the best one yet.

That’s a very unfortunate turn of events, the volume ends on a sort of cliffhanger but my library does not have other volumes. I hate reading digitally and shippinn to my country is a no. I guess I just deal with it.

I took too much time to pick up the manga again but I'm glad I did it doesn't feel right to watch the anime and be done with it without continuing the story. The other family chapter broke my heart into pieces I just love it.
Thank you Umino Chika!
