La Història de Catalunya que proposa F. Xavier Hernàndez Cardona pretén, de manera didàctica, fer entendre les claus de l’evolució històrica de Catalunya. Constitueix un esforç de síntesi que recull les aportacions més des de l’escat de la bombolla immobiliària i la manifestació del juliol del 2010 a favor del dret de decidir com a nació, fins a les troballes del període paleolític a Terrassa. Més que no pas per consultar, es tracta d’una història de Catalunya pensada per llegir i per comprendre, acompanyada per una cartografia nombrosa (entorn de cinquanta mapes) i per una setantena de fotografies.

About the author

Graduated in Philosophy and Letters, section of Modern and Contemporary History from the University of Barcelona, in 1978. He received his doctorate in 1993 with the thesis: "The History of Catalonia at the Primary and Secondary Education, 1975-1990" (directed by Pelai Pagès). He specialized in the field of Social Sciences Didactics, in Museography and in History and in historical iconography. He participated very actively in the educational reform processes in Catalonia at the end of the 20th century. He has participated in the writing of numerous textbooks and in the design of educational innovation materials.

A biased yet very interesting read.

A great overall and high-level history of Catalonia. However, it was a bit of work slogging through a parade of dates, monarchs, and other high officials. A bit of context would be helpful. The modern commentary veered from history to opinion often without support for claims made (it's quite possible the claims are valid, but still, support helps.

Tot el que vingui del X. Hernández es interessant. Apassionat per la història. Ell em va fer estimar la història de Catalunya amb la forma d'explicar-ho a classe.

Molt bon llibre per tenir una síntesi breu de la història de Catalunya.
Per mi l'últim capítol tira més d'opinió política personal que d'història.
