What’s worse than being assigned to the most arrogant hockey player in the NHL? When I’m his third PR agent… and we’ve both officially run out of chances.
Luka Popovich is the Seattle Hawkeyes’ Olympic golden boy with a god complex—and after his latest scandal, he’s already torched two PR reps.
Now it’s my turn. Lucky me.
Taking this job is my last shot at proving I’m not the PR disaster everyone whispers I am. Except Luka mistakes me for a journalist, tries to charm his way into a “one-on-one,” and I learn fast that his idea of an interview includes no questions... and no clothes.
My plan is simple: bury the scandal and broker peace with the Olympic Committee before Luka’s facing lawyers… and losing more than endorsements.
Then he disappears on bye-week—straight to the Swiss Alps. And his agent gives me one order: Follow him.
So I do the most unhinged thing I’ve ever done. I drain my savings to fly to Switzerland… to chase a hockey player who doesn’t want help halfway across the world.
Of course there’s a blizzard. Of course the resort gives away my room.
So now I’m soaked, shivering in a luxury lobby, swallowing my pride—and begging Luka Popovich to let me stay in his private chalet. With one bed.
Now I have to fix Luka’s career, save my job, survive the Swiss Alps on my own dime, and stop myself from falling for the one man who could ruin me completely…
All while he does everything he can to stay away from me.
What could possibly go wrong?
How about the part where Luka Popovich has decided that the only way to keep control— —is to make sure I lose first.
As an avid reader myself, and a Westcoast girl, I love two things: swoon-worthy pro athlete book boyfriends, and writing stories about them living in the beautiful Northwest where I'm blessed to call home.
I do my best work late at night after I’ve tucked in my three littles, and my hard-working husband.
Have read a few other books by this author and enjoyed them but was very disappointed with this book. There were a lot of spelling and grammatical errors throughout and several sentences that were missing words entirely so they didn’t make any sense.
Additionally, the pacing of the book was off and there was literally no build-up for the relationship between the two characters.
I have a page worth of my review for this book but I'm going to keep it short because I absolutely don't want to be a Debbie downer.
1. Miss Kenna needs an editor like yesterday, the constant flipping between past and present tense was giving me whiplash 🤣
2. Now whilst the holes in these stories always has me like "huh?", the premises of them are always good and thats why I keep reading.
3. Did anyone else feel like the Luka we've all come to know from the previous books was a completely different Luka in this one? The bar fights and constant scandals?
the outward playboy thing he had going on? didn't track. The Luka I've come to know is quiet and mysterious and all that drama would never follow him. Now posing with the medals to piss his Dad off? that one is definitely a Luka move for sure 🤣. It just kind of felt like trying to give the character more than he needed. I also feel like the Luka thats been built this whole time would've been more discreet about his sexcapades
Anyway 🤣 I did enjoy my read and all my "huh?" moments. Molly and Wolf might be next?

I will literally read anything and everything Kenna writes. I LOVE her books so much
ARC Review: Let’s get into it
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this book but I KNEW I was gonna love it but I didn’t think I would love it as much as the other 5 in the series and KENNA you topped yourself because this book is now at number 2 on my ranking list (they almost beat Kat and Scottie 🫣😳)
Get transported to the Swiss Alps with Luka and Natalia She wants to help him and prove herself. He doesn’t want the help but both of them are stubborn AND there’s ONE bed have I sold you yet? You guys NEED to read this one
Kenna back at it again with ACTS OF SERVICE MEN: LUKA
Quotes:
"Luka... you deserve to love and be loved."
"I know I don't have to. The question is whether you want me to."
"I don't need you to catch me," she says quietly. "I need you to stop running."
Thank you to Kenna and her team for the ARC 🔥

I swear I devour anything Kenna writes lol I’ve been hooked since the Hawkeyes and I don’t think it will ever change. I’ve read alot of hockey books, and I’m not sure you can ever go wrong with a grumpy, emotionally closed off man - especially when he’s only soft for her and can’t help himself lol
As always, we got the team camaraderie and banter. Penelope and the WAGs doing what they do best lol the tension and banter between Luka and Natalia was everything.. i love a tough take no crap FMC, and So glad karma was on her side!
This is a solid read in between some fantasy for me. I will say, I was looking forward to this book and it kind of flopped for me.
It felt like they went from hating each other to not really quickly. Especially for Luka. He was like fully not into it then bam, I am in love with her. It felt rushed.
I was hoping for more slow burn, enemies turned friends turned lovers.
Still worth the read and I will finished the series.

Nattie and Luka ❤️ A hockey ex-mafia man falling in love, becoming a big softie? Love to see it! Nattie took on a huge undertaking, and weaseled her way into the heart of a man who barely knew how to use it. The growth they had together, his protectiveness, and her want to be the first person who chose him overall was perfection.❤️
And Luka just slid into number one book boyfriend!! His icy little heart melted, and I'm here for it! Natalia was such a fierce fmc. Literally going the distance for her client and her job. This one is hands down my favorite! Thank you so much Kenna for the arc!🖤
Really torn here, because I liked the story but this book (and its predecessor) felt very rushed. Once again, multiple typos, missed sentences, a piece of dialogue that was full on missing and was just a period in some quotation marks. Inner dialogue felt short and choppy. This author is too good to be having missed editing like this.
The romance between Luka and Natalia was a nice enemies-to-lovers slow burn — although it was less enemies, more “I’m actually super into you and pretending I’m not.” Really good development for them both.
PR Agent x Hockey Player Forced Proximity One Bed Forbidden Romance Enemies to Lovers Hockey Romance Ex-Mafia Prince
Another Kenna King book that delivers the perfect mix of romance, spice, plot twists, and a story you’re instantly hooked on from page one. Forced proximity? Say less. Add in a snowstorm, a power outage, and cuddling to stay warm? I was eating it UP.
Another Hawkeye player to fall in love with and another strong, confident FMC added to this iconic WAGs group. Book six done, and I already need the next one.
Natalia was such a standout FMC. She’s strong, determined, stubborn, and confident. She never backs down and knows her worth, even when others don’t give her what she deserves. But she’s also funny, a little clumsy, cute, and flirty. Truly the perfect match for Luka.
And Luka? The ultimate grumpy hockey player. Guarded, stubborn, and fully convinced he doesn’t deserve love. He self-sabotages, isolates himself, and gets in his own way. But at the same time, he’s deeply protective and cares so much about the people around him. Underneath all that grump is a total softie. Watching him slowly realize and come to terms with his feelings (while being completely oblivious half the time) was everything.
Their banter had me laughing out loud. The “we hate each other but also can’t stop noticing how hot the other is” energy? Elite. And yes Luka casually mentioning he sleeps naked and making sure Natalia knows? Hilarious.
The tension between them was off the charts. You could feel it building with every page, just waiting for that breaking point. And when it finally hits… WOW. Seeing Luka experience all these firsts with Natalia completely melted me. I was kicking my feet and giggling the whole time.
As the story goes on, you really see both of their walls come down. Watching them find comfort, safety, and genuine happiness with each other was so satisfying.
I didn’t know what to expect once they left the Alps, but this book kept me on my toes. The ending didn’t feel rushed or forced, it felt real. Sorry, there is a third-act conflict, and the way everything comes together? Sweet and shocking. I was so here for it. I didn’t see it coming, and I loved every second.
If you’re looking for intense sexual tension, forced proximity, and a broody, grumpy man who doesn’t stand a chance once he falls—this book is absolutely for you.
Grumpy sunshine, player x pr agent, forced proximity, one bed, banter
Luka finds himself in hot water after doing a photoshoot that compromises his Olympic medals and reputation. He’s advised to follow the advice of a PR agent, but has dismissed two already to do what he wants.
Natalia is the PR agent lucky enough to get assigned Luka’s case. She desperately needs a win and to get a solution for Luka in order to keep her job.
When the two meet, Luka initially is attracted to her before he realizes who she is and what she’s there for. When they do formally meet he immediately tries to push her away. Unfortunately for him, Natalia is resilient and is willing to do what it takes. This means, her following him to Switzerland where he goes for his vacation time mid hockey season. When she arrives she finds out there are no rooms available and is forced to accept the space Luka offers. She continues to follow him and tries to get time to learn more about him and get him to accept her help and help her out. The more time they spend time together and apart, their chemistry becomes more apparent. Luka finds himself surprised when he is suddenly aware of Natalia, looking out for her, wanting to protect her, and being jealous. Natalia also can’t deny Luka’s physical attractiveness, and realizes that he’s grumpy and tough for a reason. They break some ground and open up to each other on an emotional level and eventually give in to their physical attraction. At first, Natalia is hesitant bc they are crossing professional lines, but is willing to trust and try w Luka. There’s a third act breakup when Luka discovers that the secret he told Natalia hit the news and he feels betrayed and pushes her away. Natalia realizes she put her trust into the wrong people too and tries to talk and apologize to Luka but he won’t listen. Eventually, they do talk and work things out especially when Natalia shows up to find him sick and takes care of him.
- HEA - third act breakup :( - he’s grumpy to her sunshine - one bed, shared space - the mmc goes through some emotional growth - the fmc lets go of what she thought she wanted to pursue something more important to her
"...I’m not going to be the next man in your life who makes your world smaller."
"What do you miss about Moscow?" "My mother." "What is she like?" "She was like warm sunshine after the longest winter. She died… eight years ago this spring."
"Stay here with me for a second," he says. "Don’t go into your head yet...I've got you."
In the emotional character driven Damage Control, by one of my favorite independent romance writers, Kenna King, the Russian Mafia son Luka Popovich, a notorious hockey player, leaves his opponents fearful of his 6'4" brooding stance. But the above quotes show a different Luka and maybe he's just guarding himself from pain left by a cruel father.
When Natalia is assigned to do damage control for Luka, "...a cocky hockey player with a God complex...a client no one can tame," she knows it's not just to save his career but her own. Hating cold weather she still follows him on his vacation to the Swiss Alps only to land in a blizzard with no rooms available. A good negotiator she convinces Luka to let her stay with him...at his chateau...with an outdoor hot tub...a fireplace...one bedroom.
Oh did I mention why his career needs saving? Seems our sex on a hockey stick bad boy posed nude in a women's magazine with his gold Olympic medals...uh...strategically placed to keep his privates private! The Olympic Committee is not happy and the press is all over it.
While Natalia has her own daddy issues, she starts to see a side of Luka no one ever glimpses, even his teammates. Luka fights his attraction to the beautiful, determined, very smart "Nattie." But their enemies to lovers control may be damaged by their hearts falling in love.
The Rookie Hawkeye Standalone Interconnected Series: Book 1. Match Penalty Book 2. Bleacher Report Book 3. Bottle Rocket Book 4. Player Misconduct Book 5. Playbook Breakaway Book 6. Damage Control
I received a free copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
I’m actually going to make this recommendation in the author’s fb reader group, but I really think these books should have a guide in the front of which book is for which couple. Like the book briefly mentions Slade & Penelope Matthews in chapter 1. I’ve never read the previous series (Hawkeyes Hockey) but it is interconnected with this series. It has 9 books. This series will have 8. Trying to keep track of which book is for which couple across 17 books is a lot. Just having a page at the beginning as simple as
Slade & Penelope - Lucky Score
for each book would be SO helpful to someone like me.
Anyways, so I was actually really enjoying this at first. It was a lot of pushing and pulling. Luka refusing to give an inch or help Natalia do her job. They had an attraction but it was not overt and not something they let the other know. They couldn’t stand one another past that. Then at 30% they were just all about each other. Jealousy overtook both of them out of nowhere and it was weird. Natalia still resisted it for a while (a while being like 2 days). The whole point was supposed to be keeping Luka from getting into trouble over his nude photos yet she never really did anything to make this happen. She just argued with him and the girl she had went to college with. Around 70% it finally picks up again.
Thanks to Kenna for this ARC.
Read my reviews from the rest of The Rookie Hawkeyes:
PR agent Natalia takes on a difficult client to save her career. He’s a moody Olympic hockey player who refuses her help and goes to Switzerland for 2 weeks. She follows him and they get snowed in together.
🏒 Dual POV ⛷️ Tension 🏅 He falls first 🤍 One bed 🏒 Pro hockey MMC ⛷️ PR agent FMC 🏅 Enemies to lovers 🤍 Forced proximity
I really liked these characters. There’s much chemistry and tension. He’s yearning AND rescues her? Swoon. This is a cute story and I couldn’t put it down. The world building was great and cozy and I felt like I was skiing too! I really liked the FMC and how she handles things in the end! There’s also an unexpected hint of a love triangle that added some nice dynamics.
There was a continuity error around the halfway point. On page 164 she explains this assignment is important to her because if she fails she will lose her job and he is surprised but agrees to let her help him. On page 179 she says “Being honest about losing my job is the only thing I haven’t tried.”
What I didn’t love: There’s a TON of repetition in the writing. So much talking about the plot without the plot actually happening. But obviously it wasn’t a dealbreaker. I noticed it but it definitely didn’t deter me away from gobbling up this book! I have noticed this repetitive writing in many of Kenna’s books but I still like her writing style. Her characters and their dynamics are so good.
This book 6 in Rookie Hawkeyes series but can be read as a standalone. Book 5 is about the MMC’s sister. 🏒Book 1 Match Penalty ⛸️Book 2 Bleacher Report 🏒Book 3 Bottle Rocket ⛸️Book 4 Player Misconduct 🏒Book 5 Playbook Breakaway ⛸️Book 6 Damage Control ((Books 7 and 8 coming soon))
Thanks to the author for the ARC! Release date 3/31/26 available now!
💻Enemies to Lovers 🏒Hockey X PR Agent 💻Ex-Mob Prince 🏒Forced Proximity 💻Stuck together in Switzerland 🏒Nudie Centerfold
If you are looking for a good enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity with a grumpy MMC, this is the one! This book has banter, heat, and forced proximity that leads to some steamy scenes and a realization for both characters.
I was sooo looking forward to this book! I wanted Luka’s story from the second he was introduced and I was foaming at the mouth after Scottie and Kat’s book. This book DID NOT disappoint! Natalia was the PERFECT FMC to put Luka in his place. Luka is out to prove a point and throw a middle finger to his dad at every opportunity and Natalia is stubborn enough to keep pushing to get through the walls that Luka built.
Natalia (FMC) has worked her whole life to build her PR career, and with one client and a lighter, it is up in smoke, and she is willing to do anything to save it, even following a difficult client to Switzerland despite how much she hates the cold and snow. Luka (MMC) is an ex-mob prince who does everything to separate himself from his father, hockey, his team, and his sister, who is all that is important to him, and he has no interest in making any attachments otherwise. Natalia is lucky number 3; she is the 3rd PR agent to try to get through to Luka and help right his reputation. Luka took his three Olympic medals and posed in a nudie magazine with them covering his ummm…private area, the Olympics committee is less than thrilled. Luka tries to push Natalia away, but she refuses; she keeps pushing to get through to him to help him. Luka wants nothing to do with Natalia, but also can't stay away; there is something drawing him in, something he hasn't felt before.
"And for the first time in my life, I don’t feel the urge to run. I feel the urge to stay."
⭐️4.25
What a sweet, heartwarming read. This story truly left me smiling and feeling hopeful by the end.
Luka and Natalia meet under high-pressure circumstances: She’s brought in for damage control to help him navigate a situation that could derail both his career and reputation. Luka is used to being in control and has a reputation for being difficult, so their partnership gets off to a rocky start. His guarded, stubborn nature makes things even more complicated, but beneath that exterior is someone carrying the heavy weight of expectations from his father and his upbringing in a rigid Russian system. What he really needs is the right person to trust—and that’s where Natalia comes in.
From the moment Luka sees Natalia, he’s completely gone, even if he tries to fight it. Their slow-burn romance is filled with tension, banter, and plenty of forced proximity—everything I love. Watching them gradually let their walls down and learn to trust each other was so satisfying. I especially adored all of Luka’s “firsts” with Natalia (his first real date, the vulnerability of holding someone’s hand in public), it all felt incredibly genuine and tender.
The ending was rewarding and felt well-earned after everything they went through.
Another standout for me was the team dynamic. Luka’s hockey teammates bring so much humor and lightness with their banter, which perfectly balances his broody personality. Seeing familiar faces from previous books and the strong sense of found family throughout was indeed a highlight for me.
Luka, the man that you are!! I LOVED Luka & Natties story. I was always curious about Luka, and reading his story, my heart hurts for him. He’s broody, distrustful, guarded, and mysterious and sooo intriguing. Luka is trying everything to not be like his father and protect his sister, and we have seen that in the previous books, but enter Natalie; she doesn’t take no for an answer and is stubborn. She also knows what it’s like to have a shitty dad. She is driven and motivated and believes that if she follows her father’s footsteps, he will come back and love her. These two characters are perfect for each other, the shitty fathers, and the way they love like no other. The tension these two have for the book is soo good, and you just can’t wait for them to let it explode and for them to collide, and when they do, damn!!! I love watching these two fall; it’s so sweet and adorable, and they just seeing Luka have all of these first with Natalia is adorable. My heart was bursting. This book had me kicking and giggling my feet because this couple is everything. I couldn’t put it down because I just needed to know when these two were gonna get together. I loved seeing past characters in this book. If you want a book with sexual tension and forced proximity and a man that is so grumpy and broody, this book is for you, and you can read it on Kindle Unlimited!!!!!
💜🧡Thank you so much for the ARC! This review is my opinion🧡💜
I knew going into this that Luca’s story would be my favorite of the series. Apparently, I’m weak for stoic Russian hockey players.
This is a hockey romance in the same way that all Kenna’s books are - hockey provides the framework for a story that uses out-of-this-world situations to build deep relationships and emotional depth all while remaining so incredibly binge-able. I flew through this in hours and never realized time had passed.
Natalia was a fantastic FMC - strong and confident and never backed down. She stood by her convictions and owned her mistakes. She’s absolutely the perfect match for Luka.
If possible, I learned to love Luka even more. The way he prioritizes everyone’s needs and happiness except his own. The way he isolates himself. His complete lack of awareness of his emotions until he’s forced to accept them. This man screams red flags and I am like the bull in the arena chasing after them.
As always, fantastic cast of side characters. It’s great to see Kat and Penelope and all the others again, but a special shoutout to Natalia’s mom. She could be everyone’s mom. I would stay in her spare room for trashy reality TV night
Thanks so much to Kenna for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
I give this book 4.5 stars. I received this book as an ARC
Broody, doesn’t trust, guarded…everything that makes Luca mysterious and intriguing. His actions appear to be on a whim, for fun, for no reason. But under his “no care” attitude, he cares and he cares deeply that he doesn’t turn out like the man who raised him.
She doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer, she’s driven, motivated and chases her dreams…or well dreams that everyone thinks are hers. But under her workaholic persona, she’s a girl who thinks following in her father’s footsteps will make him love her.
Two souls, both chasing for other versions of “happiness”, and both holding different experiences with father figures. When their works collide, it’s every but fire, every bit loathing and every bit…love?
I loved these two characters. Both similar in their lives but so vastly different that they equal the other one out. They hurt for the other, they love like no other, and they were made to protect the other.
It’s a great read, it goes well with the rest of the books in the series, Kenna did an amazing job with this book!!!
I’m absolutely obsessed with this book and I read it in one day, because it’s just that good. If you’ve read the earlier books in the series, you’ll remember Luka, Katerina’s brother. He’s determined not to become like his father, so Luka’s guarded, arrogant, a playboy, and does whatever he wants. That’s exactly how he ends up in some legal trouble… and where Natalia comes in. She’s a PR agent who takes on his case to secure her job at her PR agency. She’s stubborn, driven, and completely focused on fixing Luka’s image.
She’s so determined that she follows him all the way to Switzerland just to get him to talk about the situation and how to deal with it, i.e. damage control! Luka however does everything he can to avoid her even if they are stuck on the mountain. Both Luka and Natalia have trust and father issues, but neither of them is willing to give in. Their witty banter and chemistry is off the hooks.
I loved their story, and together they’re honestly perfect. I already can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Thank you, Kenna King, for the chance to read Damage Control.
I read this book in one sitting. Like the rest of the books in the Hawkeye series, it had me reading it so fast to get to the end of Luka and Natalia’s story.
This book had the stubborn, ex-Mafia hockey player who had gotten himself into hot water with the Olympic committee for posing nude with medals. The sassy, stubborn, pushy pr agent from MFC sent to sort out Luka and make sure his career doesn’t go up in smoke. But Luka doesn’t take help or trust people easily.Natalia ends up following him out to the Swiss Alps to try and bring him home to Seattle. Things just go wrong from there for Natalia, and she ends up having to share a room with the hot hockey player because of a blizzard. Luka has decided that he doesn’t want Natalia around, but what happens after neither of them sees coming.
This book had you feeling sorry for Natalia as she was just trying to do her job. The pacing and story were great, and I love the way the relationship of the characters was written. I can’t wait for more in the series.
Damage Control delivers everything I love about Kenna King’s writing; emotionally rich characters, grounded tension, and romance that feels both soft and consuming at the same time.
The one bed trope? Immaculate. The forced proximity paired with high-stakes PR drama creates this perfect pressure cooker where emotions have to surface and when they do, it hits hard.
What really stood out to me was the emotional vulnerability woven throughout the story. These characters aren’t just falling for each other, they’re navigating grief, trust, and what it means to feel safe with someone again. And that line about not making her world smaller? Yeah… that’s the kind of love that sticks.
The romance builds in a way that feels natural and earned. It’s not overly spicy (sitting at a solid 2 🌶️), but honestly? It doesn’t need to be. The emotional connection carries everything.
Overall, this is a comfort read with emotional depth, perfect for when you want something that will make you swoon and ache a little.
Another fantastic story in this series! I adore this series and each book just keeps getting better. Was excited that it was Luka’s turn for his happy ending but knew that he was bound to be stubborn and unwilling to let his emotions get the better of him. Any woman that he fell for would definitely have to work to keep his attention. Then, in steps Natalia, there to help get his reputation back on track after a bad decision has is career in a downward spiral. One look at her and he is enraptured and when she touches him, that rocks his world, until he finds out who she is and he back tracks and makes her job impossible. Never one to give up she slowly wears him down and along the way they both start falling for each other. Can Natalia win Luka’s heart or will she prove to be like everyone else and end up hurting him? Can Luka learn to trust and give his heart to someone? Such a gorgeous story with amazing characters and a wonderful edition to this hockey series. Can’t wait for the next story to come. Thank you Kenna King for the opportunity to read this story.
Luka and Natalia. Nattie and Luke. Oh man. I loved every page with this stubborn woman and broody man. He really tried. Truly. He tried to evade her and resist. She just never gives up. I loved it. It was the perfect storm.
When Luka does a photoshoot as an F you to his dad, it causes a PR nightmare that he wasn't necessarily expecting. Natalia is the third attempt at a PR agent to fix the problem. Lucky for him, she isn't as willing to give up as the others and follows him to Switzerland when he runs away. I love how even in his (failed) attempts at resisting, he's the most respectful guy. I also love that he gets jealous.
The banter and sexual tension between these two is everything and makes it a page turner. This hits some of my favorite tropes: -Forced proximity -Hockey Romance -Workplace Romance -One Room/One Bed -Grumpy/Broody MMC
I truly couldn't stop reading once I started. This was a 24 hour read for me! I just love Kenna King's writing and i'm so thankful that she sent me an ARC of Damage Control.

Well I thought Book 5 couldn't been topped, but Luka and Natalia have shot straight in there as my new favourites... and that's a feat because I LOVED Scottie and Kat! Seriously grumpy with zero tolerance for being social, Luka is the one MMC I really wanted to get into, how many times did I question throughout the book - when is he going to pull his head out of his rear end?!? - too many.. but Natalia - gosh her persistence, stubbornness, sass and just her whole persona matched Luka's attitude toe for toe. They are total opposites and she was not shy about any of it, he didnt intimate her like he does everyone else and sparks flew... like fireworks! Slow burn because Luke legitimately hates Natalia... or so we all think, and Natalia is too stubborn to care. It was delicious and this book series is a firm favourite of mine.

Luka, closed off, grumpy and stubborn Natalia, she wants to help him even if he doesn’t want it
Luka, Natalia and a romance with depth
This extraordinary romance follows Luka and Natalia. He is the epitome of a closed off grumpy player who pretends he doesn’t need anyone. Natalia is hired to help Luka with a delicate issue. But how do you help someone who doesn’t want the much needed help? Natalia has to go length and do things she is scared of to get Luka to finally hear her out. But the more time they spent together the more both got a look behind each other's armors and walls. Hurt, pride and the wish for something deeper unites them. And a high chemistry and attraction. But with closeness comes vulnerability and the urge to trust. And then that happens what Luka feared most. Broken trust. But Natalia is not completely guilty. Only Luka won’t talk to her anymore. Both are hurt and miserable. Until one little incident gives them the chance to clear things between them. An emotional read with depth, spice and two characters who fit each other perfectly.
I received this book free as an ARC - thanks Kenna! I have read this entire series and this was a good one but not my favorite.
I love a friend to enemies story. The backdrop in the snowstorm made it a little more interesting as well. I enjoyed FMC working hard and not backing down. Luka was harder to love - he was rude m but he grew on me as the story went.
A bit of the plot was unrealistic - why would MFC fight for the file? Her boss would know she was to be assigned a file and could have gone to her saying she didn’t get one. Also telling her nemesis so quickly the secret she wasn’t supposed to share had me shaking my head. I did like that she left the job to really prove she wasn’t that person. And I’m glad Luka wasn’t the one who had to fight for her to come back. A lot of stories always make the hero grovel even when the FMC messed up.

Again, another cute story WITH SO MANY EDITING ISSUES!!!! Typos, continuity issues, there’s one chapter that I think got swapped and felt way out of order, past tense was used randomly… the list goes on.
First off the bat…. In the last book, Luka posed for the magazine at the beginning of the book. This timeline doesn’t support that. He said he did it because of his father’s actions to Katerina. Well that isn’t what the last book said!
Also, they have sex without a condom and there’s no discussion of STD or birth control. I mean yeah, we assume they’re clean but just no birth control/baby talk?? Thought that was a bit odd.
Anyways, Kenna… your stories are cute but hit me up to be a beta reader and fix these issues that CONTINUALLY ruin a good book.
I loved Damage Control by Kenna King! This had everything I want when I pick up one of her books.
The enemies-to-lovers tension between Natalia and Luka was so good—like, the kind that keeps you grinning while you read because the banter is just that sharp and addictive. Their dynamic felt effortless in the best way, and every interaction had that perfect mix of tension and chemistry.
And honestly… you really can’t go wrong with a bad boy hockey player paired with a headstrong PR rep. It’s one of those setups that just works, and Kenna King absolutely delivers on it. I will eat this trope up every single time without hesitation.
If you’re here for witty back-and-forth, strong personalities clashing, and that slow shift from irritation to something much more… yeah, this one hits.
I was super excited about Luka’s love story because I wanted him to find his HEA like his sister Kat did. Kenna King gave him the perfect FMC. He needed someone strong and witty. Their meet cute was brutal but their true moment in the bar was perfection. Their love was hard fought and so earned. Luka was maybe the biggest jerk Kenna has written to date, but, his redemption arc was top tier. I loved every page. I laughed, kicked my feet, cried, wanted to yell (didn’t because it was nighttime and my kids were sleeping), and then smiled big cheesy dopey smiles. This book was everything I hoped it would be and then some.
