Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.
Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.
Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.
In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.
Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.
I was really disappointed in this book all this book consists of was plucking and sucking.I am not going to say that it was a bad book because it isn't. I just didn't get the storyline I guess it was about a Bishop that need to come up with a way to make quick money for the Church some he started selling sex to raise it. But just because I didn't enjoy the book don't mean that you won't. Different strokes for different folks
This first off was way to short for my taste. The story line was okay this it's what I expected from this book. Blake Karrington really didn't do this for me in this book. I read it because he's one of my favorite male authors. One book won't change my prospective about him as a author. I enjoyed it never the less.
I choose this as a 4 star rating became it was a really good story it keep me wanting more never a dull moment I'm going to recommended this one to all my reading family and friend
The beginning of this book felt like a storyline I've read from another book. This book was however very good, error free and it had a good flow to it. He never disappoints.
First of all, I don't know why I did this to myself. I pick up a book in a genre I normally don't read (for obvious reasons) and say "this synopsis ain't bad, I'll give it a go" and here we are with the one-star rating. Okay, the ending was so predictable it wasn't even funny. I pegged ole girl as Jessica's mama as soon as she was introduced. And speaking of how introduced, I didn't like the random people thrown in or the jumps in time for no good reason. I couldn't connect (and definitely not relate) to any of the characters. And please don't get me started on Lacy and Javon. What was that mess? Like what was the purpose of their side story and what was that dumb ultimatum Lacy gave Javon just to be with him. I'm not even going to mention all the over the top sex (I love good erotica, not something thrown in for filler) I was really hoping to enjoy this book because I'm from the south and I despise mega churches because of all the shady dealings but this did nothing for me. I'm assuming there will be another part but I'm reading it.

I purchased this thinking it was a continuation of what I read at the end of another book "Thickems" but it's the same thing!! So now I gotta wait on it look for Part 2!! I wasted money but this was good!
Now I've heard of slutty ministers and two women doing the same dude, but when you mix it all together, you get nothing but DRAMA. I don't know how the Bishop is going to get himself out of this one. He had better make it good, before Bev puts a "stop payment on the check".
Mr. Blake Karrington you have done it again. When it comes to writing books, you have the Midas touch. This book was so exciting, I took a break from Facebook to finish. Kevin is going to have me looking at ministers with the side eye.
Decent read. Not art all what I expected. I think I expected more drama then erotica. I probably won't be continuing with the series if the author happens to make a part 2.
