The Cowboy Collection

Rate this book
Kissed by a Cowboy

Just shy of her thirtieth birthday, Haley Carston returns to Redbud Trails, Oklahoma, to care for her dying aunt. She thinks she’s ready for this homecoming. She’s spent years escaping her perpetual shyness and being Katie Michaels’ tag-along friend, but being back in her hometown brings back a lot of old memories, especially when she is faced with the cowboy she never forgot—Katie’s older brother, Maddox.

Twelve years ago, Maddox Michaels was supposed to be somebody. He had everything. A football scholarship. A Division I team scouting him. Maybe even a chance at the pros. Now, he’s a burned-out cowboy working day and night to stay ahead of his brother’s medical bills and keep their family farm from going bankrupt. And trying to be a father-figure for his niece, Olivia.

When Haley and Olivia start spending time together, Maddox can’t help remembering those dreams that died alongside his sister. Will being with Haley open his heart to new dreams?

Love Letters from Cowboy

When the love of his life is injured in combat, Ryan Michaels promises himself he won’t let any more time go by without ensuring she knows that he loves her. His problem? Ashley still sees him as the goofy high school kid that followed her everywhere.

Ashley Reynolds returns home to Redbud Trails, Oklahoma, a wounded veteran, with her Military Working Dog at her side. She’s concerned about her aging parents and doesn’t have time for a relationship—especially not one with a college dropout like Ryan.

But as Ashley dives back into the life she left behind, she discovers there’s much more to Ryan than she thought… there’s a man of honor and integrity. Will she open her heart and let Ryan in?

Mistletoe Cowboy

After suffering a career-ending injury, bull rider Justin Michaels has stalled out. At twenty-seven, he’s back in college trying to find direction for his life. He doesn’t have room for distractions—even pretty ones like the barista who sits next to him in class.

Valri North has spent her whole life taking care of her younger siblings. Now she’s a few credits away from completing her pre-med degree. She’s got her life planned out, until a disastrous assignment in class and a larger-than-life cowboy threaten to derail her carefully-ordered plans.

Justin determines to keep a budding friendship with Valri platonic… until a Christmas snowstorm forces the two into close proximity. How can he keep his feelings for Valri hidden when she’s too close for comfort?

***Have a box of tissues on the standby, you may need them when reading this one...***

Well written, and intriguing read that will have you turning the page on how these STUBBORN people finally work out things and...

Love Letters from Cowboy

**Another story that may require tissues on the standby when you read this one...**

Interesting story that had me rereading a few lines here and there to make sure I understood what I read since a few seemed to be slightly confusing. Overall, a good injured military woman who comes home to find something is still the same while others completely different...

Mistletoe Cowboy

Justin has no true direction on what he wants to do with his life that is until his sister-in-law (from the first story) butts in challenging him to move on after his career ending injury ... Valri has a plan graduating from high school early and determined to do something better than what she has seen with her parents and their struggles of raising a rather LARGE family with a small business...

Both are stubborn but who... Cute, witty and enjoyable story with a holiday theme towards to the end.

I have read the first two stories in this collection (before they were put together in this collection, which is why I have not yet read book three). I really enjoyed both of the first two books.

Book 1: This contemporary cowboy novella was wonderful! Haley returns to her small town after being gone for ten years. The crush she had on Maddox long ago could turn in to something more. But Maddox has some big issues to overcome. He is not the confident football star that he used to be. Life has been hard and he feels less than worthy of Haley. I love how both Haley and Maddox have things that make them unsure of how the other feels about them. Both of these characters are so well-written. And the side characters in this story are wonderful. I am hoping to read more about them in future stories.

Book 2: Loved this novella! Ryan is definitely a swoon-worthy character! He has such a kind and caring heart. As the story progresses, we see what kind of person Ryan is by the ways he has cared for others. Ashley is home after being gone for ten years in the military. She never really looked at Ryan in a romantic way in the past. Can Ryan convince Ashley that he is the man for her? This is such a sweet story of love and forgiveness.

Short reads.that put a smile on your face

The author has a way with words. Although I would of love reading more about each family members romance each story was put together well. That little bit of mystery, little bit of friendship, little bit of romance and a little bit of kissing. I lo ed it. Each story was short enough I read in one evening without neglecting anything else. And long enough to be a well rounded story. Thoroughly enjoyed

This is a three in one book. That means it has three novellas in one book. It is a super easy way to read novellas. Instead having five million novellas, you just have one million books.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this book. All of the novellas were really good. My favorite was Kissed by a Cowboy. I just really liked the story. Mistletoe Cowboy was my next favorite. Then it was Love Letters from Cowboy. So, all in all they were all great.

I was scrolling threw free books on my Kindle and found this book. It looked pretty interesting so I got it. I am happy to say I am not disappointed! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a contemporary cowboy romance. It was a sweet clean read.

The cover was creative. I liked it, once again, because I couldn’t see the faces/full faces of the characters. I will give the cover…3 stars.

As for the book, I will give it 4 stars. If I would have liked the novellas just a little more, it would have gotten 5 stars. Either way, 4 stars is a great review!

I really read Cowboy Pride by Lacy Williams. It was the Selection for the Big Library Read 2018. Apparently it has just come out. It is a Cowboy take on Pride and Prejudice. It’s a little wearing with all the romantic silliness told in Cowboy style. I have a hard time figuring out how this book was selected. One problem was that the reader already knew the story and the author followed the original faithfully. This I would not recommend.

Three light novellas in one book, about three cousins in Oklahoma. light, quick romances that show some promise and could be developed more into full novels. If these are Christian fic, it only shows in that the characters generally have right values and don't sleep with romantic interests, though as you can see by the title, there is some kissing.

Good stories!

These stories were about real people with complicated lives. The characters all have issues that make them question where to go in their lives. Each story had a slightly different journey but each one held my interest. Well worth the time for escape to someone else life.

Very sweet

I fell in love with Maddox. I was the oldest of 8 and the 3rd parent in the house. I also loved the strong female characters. The stories are very relatable, one even made me cry. I will look for more from this author.

Sooooooo good

I love these books. They are clean, honest, amazing books. I love the vulnerability in each of the characters and how their I securities are worked through. We are all flawed and uncertain at times. These flaws made the characters real and relatable. Great job!

It is hard to choose which couple or which brother's story is my favorite so think it is a tie as they are all three so very emotionally draining while at the same time have such a beautiful ending.

If you are looking for a contemporary romance story to warm your heart, look no further because these three short tales featuring three very different brothers will totally fit your requirements from start to finish.

Cowboy Kisses: Three Contemporary Cowboy Romances (Heart of Oklahoma) by Lacy Williams. You can’t beat three books in one nor can you resist three cowboy romances. There is just something romantic about a cowboy all rugged and handsome that makes a girl want to read about him. There are four other books in this series with a fifth one on the way.
Book one is Kissed by a Cowboy. Haley was dressed in finery loaned to her by Katie Michaels, her only friend here in Redbud Trails, Oklahoma. Luckily there were only a few weeks left until school was out. Katie insisted she go to the prom and told her she would find a date for her. She did, he was Maddox, Katie’s older brother who was in college. How could Katie have done that! At the prom, Maddox was surrounded by people wanting to talk to him about football until he finally left taking Haley with him. He apologized to her and danced with her outside. Now years later, Haley was back in town to settle her Aunt’s affairs. She ran into Livy Michaels, her friend Katie’s daughter. Katie had died earlier leaving Livy to her brothers Maddox and Justin. Now Haley knew she would soon see Maddox because she couldn’t leave an eleven-year-old out alone. How would Maddox react at seeing her?
Book two is Love Letters from Cowboy. Ryan Michaels was just a cowboy who wanted to help. He chose to help the Reynolds family when he could. He managed the feet store now and kept the books, he cooked supper for Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds under the guise of their helping him out. He took a cooking class and used them to cook for then left the leftovers with them for their next couple of meals. He took Mrs. Reynolds to Walter Reed when their daughter, Ashley, was injured in an IED attack and lost her arm. Her dog, Atlas, lost the hearing in his ear and was retired from the Marines with her. He had written letters to Ashley while she was gone telling her what changes were taking place at home. He signed all of them Love, Cowboy. Ashley did not read them, thinking he was just a jerk who was younger and still pestering her. Now that she is home, she begins to see what he had done to help her family and thought maybe she should read the letters. What will happen when she reads them?
Book three is Mistletoe Cowboy. Justin Michaels has come home after being permanently hurt by the bull he was attempting to ride. After physical therapy, he would walk but always with a limp. No more bull riding for him. He was laying around trying to figure out what he life would be like when his sister-in-law Haley decided he needed to go to college. So, he enrolled in the nearby college. He was in speech class when Valri North, the girl who served coffee at the Coffee Shop in town, sat beside him. She was late and flustered and her stomach growled. She worked three jobs, went to school, took care of her family, and whatever else came up in a family with ten children. However, she is determined to be a doctor and needed this class; but talking in front of others is not what she likes to do so the class is not easy for her. Valeri and Justin talk each week and try to get to know each other a little better. He starts bringing her something to eat every night. What will happen when this class is over?

I had read two of the three of these novellas before. I enjoyed them even more the second time around. Justin's story was worth waiting for. I read Lacy Williams book initially as a part of the Inspy Kisses collection I was reviewing. Lacy is now one of my top 10 authors. Her characters have the salt of the earth appeal. They're not afraid to work hard for their family, community, or the one they love. Her characters are easy to identify with because they're not rich. They don't have personal jets or fancy jobs (like some of the Christians books I've read lately). I know some readers worry about an inspirational book being "too preachy" but Lacy's spiritual threads are always natural. I'll be reading more of Lacy's books this year.

Love these stories

This is three books about a family and how each fall in love. Love the small town country stories that have the hard-working cowboys in them. Maddox, Ryan and Justin are all awesome men and their stories are all different on who they were and how they find love. Haley, Ashley, and Valri are the women that end up loving these guys. The stories are cute and fun to read.

Two out of three ain't bad

I read the first and last story in this bundle but couldn't make myself read the middle story where the girl lost her arm.
The stories i read were about brothers looking for love and not knowing when it was knocking on their door.
These stories have no sexual content whatsoever. Just kissing. Read at your own risk.

Wholesome romance

I read all three stories one right after the other. I liked that the story line stayed with characters from the first story. I would recommend these to my teenaged granddaughters. By the end of the third story about Justin and Valri it was hard for me to read through my tears.

Great novella box set

Great novella box set! I really enjoyed these three stories. I couldn't put this down. I would have liked more of Justin's story as he captured my attention from the first time he was mentioned and I wasn't ready to let him go. I will be reading the next books.

Thoroughly Enjoyable

This trio of novellas really got to the heart of the characters, and let you see through their eyes. From shy Haley to med student Valri and wounded heroine Ashley, you could identify with each, celebrate their triumphs and feel their pain. And the best part was the happy endings.

It was okay. Not exceptionally great, just okay. There are three short stories but the first and last one annoyed me. The second one has a very commendable character but that's about it, nothing I could really comment about.
