Fur Real Love

Howl About a Date

Rate this book
I thought speed dating would be a harmless way to kill an evening. Five minutes of small talk, a couple of polite smiles, and I’d go home with a funny story.

Then he sat down in front of me.

Theo. Dark eyes, cocky grin, broad shoulders that did terrible things to his shirt. He didn’t bother with small talk. He leaned in, looked me up and down, and said in a voice like smoke, “I already know how this is going to end. You, flat on your back, begging me for more.”

Not exactly subtle. Definitely not boring.

I laughed it off, but he kept showing up after the bell, brushing past me with that infuriating smile, and making comments that should’ve sounded ridiculous—except he backed them up with a gaze that promised he meant every word.

It wasn’t until later I found out why he came on so Theo isn’t just bold, he’s a werewolf. And apparently when a wolf decides you’re his, no five-minute timer in the world is going to stop him.

I went in expecting a few awkward chats and maybe a drink or two. I left with a man who swears he’s going to devour me… and God help me, I think I’m going to let him.

It felt very hoax-y and fast moving but in an awkward way. The way that werewolves were portrayed and the pack worked wasn't like other shifter books that I've read and their dynamic felt stilted and weird. They spoke in a very ominous way about the two MMC's relationship to the human in the relationship and I'm not sure that I would have stayed around if I were him. They spoke to him almost in a kind of warning or telling him off. The spice also didn't counteract how awkward the whole dynamic was, I would rate it like a 1.5/5 peppers on the spice scale. Liked how quickly the story moved along, but it wasn't an easy read necessarily as I had to kind of force myself to make it through, despite the story only being less than 200 pages. I do like how the author tried to put a kind of new and unique spin on shifters, I appreciate the desire to be different, how it was done just fell a little flat for me.

Incredibly cute and the humour is top notch. Not your typical wolfy romance and a bit repetitive in places BUT an enjoyable read nonetheless! Theo is a man who knows what he wants and I eat that sh*t up 😌
