Bonds of Wings and Fury: Hero of Elucia

Rate this book
Kailin's gift made her a hero, but now it's making her a target.

To reach the bonding ceremony, she must survive not only assassins but also the immense physical and mental strain of her prophetic dreams. Her nightmares whisper of sinister forces, betrayals yet to come, and mortal danger to those she loves.

Alar left his father's royal court to forge his own destiny as a dragon rider, but what he found in Elucia is more than he could have ever imagined—love, purpose, and a life of his own design. Yet crowns cast long shadows, and when a letter arrives from his mother, Alar is faced with an impossible choice.

The prophecy speaks of seven who will save Aurorys. Six have been found, but one remains a mystery—and time is running out.

The first book really hooked me, and this one I felt at first was getting even better.
I loved the team working together, and of course there was lots of exciting and nerve wracking fights/assassination attempts. I loved learning more about how the Elucia and Elurian cultures differ, and seeing more insight into the other members of the prophecy and their special talents.
I loved that it wasn't just about the main couple all the time. I super adored every time a dragon was interacting with humans. Onyx is still best boy and probably my favorite character. I really liked the queen of dragons as well. The plot twist at the end was epic and I was so happy how it went and was tearing up over it. I'm so excited for another dragon character to get to know. They seem like they'll have even more depth than Onyx. I loved getting to see more perspectives than Kailins. I love Saphirs little monkey cat so much. I'm so interested in if this is expanded universe stuff for the Immortals series, considering Saphirs special ability and what he's said about Elu. I do remember in the Immortals series one of the God characters said he had fought dragons on another world before and how scary it was.

I was very disappointed that it ended before the rest of the team got to meet their dragons. I was more upset that the preview for the next book had nothing to do with them. My fear is the next book will just jump to them having their dragons already and completely cuck us of the heart pounding scene when they first meet their dragons. Especially since this is such an important thing that has been built up since the very beginning!!! Please don't skip or or timeskip or brush off the others getting their dragons!!! We really really want to see when Shovia, Codric, Alar, and Morek meet their dragons the first time, not as a flashback, as well as their reactions about Kailin getting hers.

Reason i took a star off-
I liked that the first book had, I thought, wrapped up the love triangle and was praising the author for not dragging it out. As I hate when protagonists are wishy washy about love. If you love someone you choose them. So the constant hinting at potential love triangle coming back because of what I assume will be soulmates trope really infuriated me. LOVE TRIANGLES SUCK. Stop forcing them into adventure and fantasy stories please. Honestly if there was anyone I'd like to see end up with Ravel it would be Shovia and she's at least decisive enough that she wouldn't emotionally cheat on Codric for ages before breaking it off. If she ends up with Codric for reals that be fine too. I just sick of the hinting at Kailin and Ravel shit, and now even hinting at killing off Alar so their can be a convenient way for her to go to Ravel and be comforted by him, BARF. The forcing Alar to leave so that he's out of the picture is lame, unless for some reason the whole team goes with him. I'll definitely be reading the next book, but these things are the type of stuff to make me rage quit an entire series and even sometimes an author.

Two for two

Lucas did it again! If you enjoy fantasy that pulls you in and actually makes you feel something, Bonds of Wings and Fury: Hero of Elucia is definitely worth picking up.

What really stood out to me is how easy it is to connect with Kaitlin’s character. You’re not just watching her journey you’re in it with her. Lucas also balances the POV of the other characters quite nicely. Understanding the dynamics of things on this other world is done without feeling overwhelming. Elucia feels alive, but Lucas doesn’t drown you in details you get just enough to stay grounded while still letting your imagination fill in the rest. The magnetism comes from the emotional side of the story is which makes it stick. The relationships feel genuine, not forced, and there are moments that hit a little deeper than you expect, in a good way.

Overall, this is one of those books that balances action, growth, and emotion really nicely. If you like fantasy with heart, not just battles and magic, you’ll probably enjoy this one a lot.

I just finished the ARC, and I’ll need some time to process my book hangover, but I just wanted to say that I loved it. Isabel has a way of making you desperate for the next book even though you just finished reading 500~ pages.

I loved seeing the characters’ abilities and roles start to manifest. I loved seeing new sides of characters, like Codric’s analytical mind he hides behind the mask he wears.

There are multiple attempts on Kailin’s life and conspiracies and mysteries to uncover, on top of Kailin dealing with her drained energy from the big vision in the last book and Alar dealing with his family pressuring him to come home. So much happened in this book, and that’s not even talking about the dragons at the end!

This is my favorite dragon-rider series. And I’m even more excited for future books when we eventually get to see this series and Isabel’s other series, Children of the Gods, finally crossover.

Thank you to the author for this gifted ARC
This is a 5 star read for me and book 2 in this series.

🌟 dragons
🌟 found family
🌟 fantasy romance
🌟 chosen one
🌟 prince hiding as a commoner

The first book was absolutely fantastic and this one was just as good! Kailin’s prophetic dreams have pushed her into the limelight and now she is the Hero of Elucia! Only fame doesn’t always bring admiration and suddenly someone is trying to assassinate her. Good thing her friends are with her to help protect her and fight off the bad guys!
It is a lot of pressure on them with finals, interviews and the bonding ceremony coming up. Tough decisions have to be made, room assignments have to be changed and family matters have take a back seat until things become a little less chaotic.
Of corse the bonding ceremony was at the end and only one of the five bonded so I am so looking forward to the next book to find out about the others and which dragons they bonded with!

This series is a world apart from Lucas’ Children of the gods series. Yes they will connect at some point but they are not the same. The Gods books are like catching up on your favorite tv show and this one is more like a sweeping epic fantasy romance movie that has 3 disks and I am here for it.

Just when you think you know what decisions will be made and you pick your favorite and strap in for heartbreak you think about switching teams.

The world building is absolutely spot on and can picture every mountain peak and dragon. You get completely sucked into their world.

Received this ARC from the author for a fair and honest review.

Exciting and suspenseful

This is the second book in I.T. Lucas' new Bonds of Wings and Fury series. The characters are really growing into their own and we see how the prophesy is developing while we wait for the last of the 7 to be introduced in the next installment. The cadets face danger multiple times and we see how they band together to face it and protect each other. There is darkness in the Citadel and the humans and the dragons work together to purge it, but there is more darkness that must be eradicated as the story hints at what is to come. Very exciting, suspenseful, and touching at the same time. Come along for the ride.

Kailin’s powers are no longer a secret. Now she has unknown enemies trying to kill her. She and her friends try to collect information to gain any insight they can. In their search they uncover a pattern with some of the dragons. What could it mean? The prophesy is finally revealed to the others. They soon determine that they may not even be safe in the Citadel. Will they stay alive until the Day of Volition? Will they all bond with a dragon? This book had so many mysteries to uncover and dangers to avoid. It kept you engaged from the beginning to the end. I cannot wait for the next installment.

Danger, Love, Destiny

Kailin and Alar are in love. They bonded during the trek to the Citadel, in the first book. But the danger and difficulties they experienced on the trek didn't end with hearing Nyxath's call. Now, the challenges have just begun for Shovia, Codric, Marek, Alar and Kailin. Shaman Saphir knows Alar's and Codric's secret. And are these five friends the subject of a prophecy? What is Ravel's connection with the five, with Kailin?

Oo-Ee! This book is so good. The plot and plot twists, the depth of character development, the vivid descriptions - are all terrific! I only have to wait five months until part three is released. I can hardly wait!

This series takes its sweet time getting to the climax

Even though the story moves slowly, the small details keep you hooked. Everyone's dying to know what happens in the next book - who might end up bonded to which dragon, who the heck this mysterious seventh person is, and what'll happen to characters like Alar will he die and Shovia will her investigation and instincts pay off. Most important now that Kailin is bonded to a fierce dragon will she trust her gifts and the rest of her group members. All these loose ends and unanswered questions make you super curious about what comes next in this awesome story.

Hero of Elucia

We learn more about the 7 prophesied. I like that we get into the thoughts of Kailin, Alar, Codric, Shovia, and Ravel.

Something is happening at the Cidital that is insidious. Kailin has a target on her back and is in grave danger. Ravel is tasked with figuring it out. Shovia, Codric and Morek do an investigation of their own which leads down another path that might tie into Ravel's.

Overall there is action, intrigue, thoughts are challenged and it will keep you interested in what will come next.

A great read.

This 2nd book in the Wings of Fury series was a fantastic follow-up from the first book. I love how the series ties in with the Children of The Gods series, and I can't wait to see how they come together.
I love seeing how the lives of the quintet are unfolding, and now that Kailin has bonded, this 3rd upcoming book will be a very much anticipated read. Morgateth's arrival and his subsequent bonding, is going to be interesting indeed and I can't wait for the arrival of the 7th.

As usual with Lucas books, she keeps us invested throughout the whole story. Just like with her others, you can feel this one really building to come together later. I did not want this one to end and I absolutely loved getting to know the quintet more. This series is so different than her others, but I can also see how she may weave them together later and I can't wait to witness it all. I'm so sad to leave this world and have to wait for the next installment!

Bonds of Wing and Fury: Hero of Elucia by I.T. Lucas is book 2 of the series. This series is amazing. The characters are so well written they seem like real people. The world building is flawless. Ms Lucas attention to detail is a marvel in itself. If you are a fan of dragons, intrigue, strategy, friendship, love and loyalty all rolled into one amazing story this is the series for you. The hardest part will be waiting for the next book.

Meh..

Book one was awesome but this one was a filler and boring. More about solving the crime than building up on the prophecy. No main characters except everyone included with multiple P.O.V. Don't care for crime type of plot with no main characters. Disappointed and lost interest on this series.

Absolutely Fantastic!!!!

So, so good!! This new look into another world of the Children of the Gods and the characters that IT Lucas excels at creating is so exciting! The quest for the missing shamans and dragon eggs lead the prophesied ones to continue in their choices and journey to fulfill their destinies! I absolutely can’t wait for the next book in this series!!! B

A must read!!

I think I have found my new favorite series, with the authors “children of the gods” series as my other favorite. I can’t wait to see how both intertwine! This series is based on a whole new world, thankfully, the author explains it clearly and it feels like you are right there with the characters. Can’t wait to read the next one!!

Great second book!

This book picks up where Bonds of Wings and Fury: The Two-Faced God ends. Kaitlin’s s prophetic dreams are draining her. Assassins are trying to kill her. Alar and the rest of their group are trying to protect her. All while continuing to study and train for the bonding ceremony with dragons.

little Warrior

I’m in love with this series. Kathie is a woman who was always afraid and now has begun to blossom into her truest self. Ravel sign… the way his mind works, his attention to detail and love for The little warrior so enticing. Onyx is my fave with his sense of humor.

The plot thickens!

This is the best 2nd book I have read in a very long time! It picks up right after the first book was completed. Dragons, danger, and deception are the big 3 D's for the theme of this story! Can't wait for the next installment.

Great ending

What an amazing ending. Of course I'm disappointed because I need to know what happens next!! Whose number 7? Where do the dreams lead? Do the rest get dragons? More importantly when does the next book drop?!

Solid sequel, 3.75 stars, but I continue to be frustrated by the author’s repetition of information via multiple characters POV. It feels redundant and lazy to me. The ending also was quite abrupt, but the author writes quickly enough that it’s not the end of the world.

Ok, getting better, but I'm still a bit confused by some of the relationships. It's almost like the author is leaving a door open to change things up? IDK, but romance aside because it still is an awkward part of the book, I do like the storyline and most of the characters.

A lively story but some editing would have prevented the repetitive phrases and the painful dialogue. I realized another reason why I liked McCaffrey's dragon rider series more is because the common enemy isn't dastardly humans.

90% filler and 10% plot and too much repetitive “I love yous” that made the story unpalatable. We get they love each other…but, the commander, but his family, but the prophecy yeah yeah-let’s get to the story!
