The Daisy Chain Collapse: A Short Story Sequence Novel

Rate this book
When one link breaks, the entire chain trembles.

Told through multiple, deeply emotional perspectives, The Daisy Chain Collapse continues the story of three inseparable friends—Rose, Violet, and Mei—whose bond was shattered by a tragic accident. Now, in the wake of unimaginable loss, the people they left behind must navigate the wreckage of their memories, their guilt, and the fragile possibility of healing.

As each voice enters the story—Violet, Mei, Rose, Thorne, Cam, Mr. and Mrs. Wong, and many more—strangers become family, grief becomes connection, and the simple act of surviving becomes something sacred. Every character carries a piece of the broken chain… and every choice they make creates ripples that shape the lives around them.

This is not a story of suspense—it is a story of hearts laid bare. A narrative about learning to breathe again when the air still tastes like sorrow. About loving again when the ghosts of the past feel too heavy to hold. About finding hope in the people who choose to stay.

AS THEIR STORIES COLLIDE, EACH MUST FACE THE WRECKAGE OF WHAT WAS… AND THE TENDER HOPE OF WHAT MIGHT STILL BE.Even calm waters remember the storm.Every action, every love, and every loss creates waves that never truly fade.

Some books don’t just tell a story.. they sit with you, breathe with you, and quietly break you open. The Daisy Chain Collapse did exactly that!

As the second and final book in The Daisy Chain duology, this story doesn’t rush. Instead, it dives deep into the emotional aftermath of everything that began in The Daisy Chain Reaction. While book one keeps you on edge, book two stays with the people.. their pain, love, desires, frustrations, and the ripple effects of the event happed in TDCR..

What truly stood out to me was how beautifully the author captured every character’s emotional journey, even those we might not have realized were affected in book one. Nothing felt overlooked. Every feeling mattered. And you don’t just read those emotions, you feel them in your own chest…

This book was especially powerful for me because I read it while going through a similar situation, which made it deeply relatable and personal. There were moments where it felt like the pages were holding up a mirror.

Another aspect I deeply appreciated was the respectful and meaningful representation of the Deaf community and ASL. The care taken with this felt intentional and powerful, adding so much depth to the story.

This isn’t a fast read .. but it doesn’t need to be. It keeps you engaged, emotionally invested, and quietly unraveling the entire time. Please keep tissues and water nearby… you’ll need both!!!

The Daisy Chain Collapse is emotional, raw, and unforgettable.
I highly recommend this book, and the entire duology to everyone who loves stories that don’t shy away from real feelings!!

I really liked this book. It’s not a fast or super dramatic book, but it stays with you. I didn’t cry, but I was definitely moved occasionally. There were moments where I paused and sit with what a character was feeling because it felt real, especially when it came to grief and trying to move forward when life doesn’t magically “fix itself.”

What I appreciated most was how character-focused it is. Getting multiple perspectives helped me understand how deeply the events from the first book affected everyone, not just the main characters. It made the story feel more human, like you’re seeing the ripple effects of one moment across many lives. Sometimes this also felt a bit repetitive, but I think that makes sense because the book leans heavily on introspection, which makes the pacing feel a bit slow, but the story does stay on track.

Overall though, it’s a thoughtful, emotional sequel that does what it sets out to do. It doesn’t try to shock you, that was more of the vibe for the first book. This book leans more to make you feel. I give it 4 stars. It's worth reading, especially if you cared about the characters in the first book.

If you’ve read The Daisy Chain Reaction, this is 100% a must read follow up. This book circles back and gives us the behind the scenes moments for each character, filling in the gaps and walking us right up to D-Day in a way that finally makes everything click. We also get to spend time with all the characters, including those we barely heard from in book one, as they move through Rose’s healing journey together.

I’m really glad I continued with this duology because it answered so many of the lingering questions and confusion I had after the first book. This was an incredibly emotional read. I laughed, I cried, and I healed right alongside these characters. It felt raw, intentional, and deeply human.

If you’ve already read The Daisy Chain Reaction, I absolutely recommend picking this one up.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read her work. I received this book as an ARC and am leaving this review voluntarily.

One the the best books I've read!

I don't feel like my words can do this book justice. It had me hooked from the very beginning and decided it was going to live rent free in my head for the foreseeable future. I cannot praise this book enough! It keeps you on the edge of your seat, makes you laugh, teaches you about the the importance of being inclusive to people with disabilities, teaches sign language, discusses different aspects of mental health, but most importantly it teaches the importance of friendship and family and having the support when life hits you with hard curve balls. I laughed, cried, gasped, and cried some more. This book helped me grow as a person and for that, I am forever grateful. I'm going to be recommending this book and The Daisy Chain Reaction to everyone I meet! It's that good!

It’s not often that I like a second book the way I like the first part, but the author definitely knocked this one out of the park. Let me preface by saying that even though this could potentially be a standalone, I HIGHLY suggest reading book 1 for full effect.

A.C.Nightingale really understands grief and mental health struggles so if you find yourself going through one or both of them, you’ll feel seen.

So many things I could say about this book, but instead I’ll leave you with a quote that summarizes this story for me and that I will carry with me through the hard times:

“That’s the crazy thing about life. It isn’t all bad, all the time. It’s just harder to focus on the good when your lens gets fogged up by the hard stuff.”

The Daisy Chain Collapse is a follow up to The Daisy Chain Reaction. If you have read book one then this is a must read. It answered questioned I didn't even know I needed answered. It showed how one event can influence countless lives. I fell in love with the characters and their stories. A.C Nightingale took me on an amazing journey about love, lose, pain, friendship, forgiveness, and moving on from the past.

This is such an emotional read. I laughed and I cried. It answered all of the questions I didn’t realize I had left after The Daisy Chain Reaction.
I loved learning more about each of the characters, including characters that weren’t as prominent in the first book.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who read The Daisy Chain Reaction.
