Code Name: Fitzwilliam: A Pride and Prejudice Variation

In Regency England, a single secret can ruin a lady's reputation... or bring an entire nation to its knees.
To the world, he is Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy: wealthy, arrogant, and infuriatingly aloof. But in the shadows, he is known only as "Fitzwilliam"—the Crown's most lethal spy, locked in a desperate race to unmask a traitor selling England's secrets to Napoleon.
His mission is thrown into chaos when the clever and captivating Miss Elizabeth Bennet stumbles upon a coded message at a glittering ball. Suddenly, she is a target, thrust into a world of danger she never knew existed. Now, Darcy is forced to stay close to the one woman who can unravel his composure, guarding her from assassins while fighting a forbidden attraction.
From shadowed midnight rendezvous to the glittering ballrooms of the ton, Elizabeth and Darcy forge a dangerous alliance. They must decode lethal ciphers and outwit a hidden enemy, all while confronting a passion that burns hotter than any battlefield.
In a game where one wrong move means death, will they save England, only to lose their hearts?

Potentially has potential

I took a chance on a writer unknown to me.
The intrigue was great.... But....

Charlotte was Lucas at the beginning of the story. Wickham was in the militia from the get go.

Suddenly, Elizabeth knows Lady Catherine, has heard her cousin Collins sermons and seen his letter writing, been walking around Rosings enough to know the paths in the dark, oh, and Charlotte is miraculously Mrs Collins. When all was supposed to have happened? In the twilight zone?

Sir Williams is Hunsford magistrate., in Hunsford. So who was Charlotte's father in Meryton? Who knows.

Maybe if a huge chunk of story hadn't been left out... A strong beginning, baffling middle and a predictable end.

Needless to say I probably won't be back for another by this writer.

This is #1 in a series of P&P Spy Thrillers:
1 Code Name: Fitzwilliam
2 Code Name: Elizabeth
3 Code Name: Darcy
4 Code Name: Legacy

Darcy is a deadly spy working for the Crown. In that capacity, he is known only as Fitzwilliam. He is trying to find a backstabbing traitor who is working against the Crown and selling classified secrets to Napoleon.

Wickham is in the story and is working for the French.

Elizabeth finds a cipher meant for someone else. This brings her into Darcy's current case. After it is determined that she is able to decode ciphers better than many with whom Darcy has worked, he ends up taking her as a partner. To that end, they let people think that they have become engaged even though they have not even been fond of each other.

Eventually, Darcy finds out that his aunt is being kept prisoner in her home. Darcy and Lizzy go to Rosings supposedly to tell her about their engagement. Col Fitzwilliam is working with them and knows the truth of their connection. He goes, too.

Arriving at Hunsford, they find out that the Collins are not allowed to go to Rosings. All the servants have been replaced. Collins has the map he was originally given when he first accepted his job there. Charlotte shows it to their visitors and talks them through the terrain and buildings since she has been walking all over the land, every day taking a good, long walk to learn about her new home area. She tried doing her walks with her husband, but it turned out that Collins does not have the stamina to accompany her so she usually goes alone. She is very helpful to Darcy, Fitzwilliam, and Elizabeth for their purposes.

This is a bold, pulse-racing, high stakes story. If you want something more like canon, this is not the book for you. If you want to push the characters in roles that change their intents, actions, and possible outcomes, you will probably enjoy this!

AS others have said it was a promising story but some glaring inconsistency throughout the storyline. I could forgive until we got to Charlotte suddenly married to Mr. Collins and Elizabeth knowing Rosings Park better than Lady Catherine's nephews. Also the writing felt a little wooden and not free flowing.

Paragraphs and chapters jumbled.

The author really really needs to read the published book and revise it, it would make it easierr to foĺlow.
